3.0 out of 5 stars.  Neat little device., April 25, 2011
By Kim Manuel
It comes apart in 3 pieces and its fairly easy to put on your bicycle. If your bike has frame or handle bars of 1" or less you will have to insert something on the inside of the loop to get a tight fit. Choose your spot on your bike wisely as this sticks out approximately 2.5" and if you use the Topeak bottle holder recommended for this mount you will need about 6" of space. I put mine on my frame and found it was in my way when getting on and off my bike. I ended up putting it on the front part of my frame that the handle bars connect to.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Great Once Installed, May 28, 2011
By D. Wright
This item works as advertised, though the installation can be a tad tedious if you're not deliberate about it.

Basically, the part of the mount that grips the bike tube or handlebar is a metal belt (with a series of holes) that needs to be tightened like a pants belt. A screw is then inserted into the proper hole like a belt buckle and tightened until the mount grips the bike snuggly.

The trick to installing it is to tighten the belt just short of full snugness, line up the holes, squeeze the curved bracket part over the belt (taking care not to push the holes out of alignment while doing so), look into the bracket to ensure that you still have a clear path for the screw, and then insert and carefully tighten the screw until the belt and its rubber shim are fully tightened.

The belt being made of metal, you have to crimp and bend it while adjusting the size, which is a bit awkward and possibly a source of wear and tear if done too vigorously, but it shouldn't be an issue unless you're constantly removing and reinstalling the mount. However, the big benefit of the belt: it's so thin that it can fit between the tube and the brake wires of your bike if needed.

In summary, this mount is great in that it works well on a range of different sized bike tubes or handle bars and looks handsome when paired with the Topeak Modula Cage Waterbottle Cage, though it would be nice to see a belt mechanism that worked a little smoother when installing.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  rugged little guy and fits almost anywhere, July 11, 2011
By Superfly (Vienna, VA USA)
I used this to put a water bottle cage on the front fork of my son's bike. Impressive little guy. Can really take a beating. Nice quality product. A little tricky to figure out how to install, but once you take it apart and realize how it works (sort of like how a hose clamp works, although the screw is safely inside) it only take a minute to install.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great on ou tandem bike, July 18, 2011
By Kenneth Vetter
I mounted this on the lower portion of the rear seat tube of our tandem bike. Like all Topeak products I have used this works great. It is a no-brainer to install and feels very solid. Now my wife has easy on the roll access to a water bottle. Another great product from Topeak.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  love it!, March 11, 2011
By April (Tampa, Florida, USA)
Works fabulous for what it was intended. I have a hybrid type bike so this is great for putting my bottle cage up on my handlebars within easy reach. It was a tad costly considering you still have to buy the bottle cage as well but the only other option I seen for installing a cage on my handlebars was an all in one product that was cheap but also looked really cheaply made. Even at that price I would buy it again.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Terrible, October 10, 2011
By Chance favors the prepared mind. (Staten Island, NY)
You know, I like most of the things I buy from Amazon and I've have good experiences with Topeak tools. However, I have say that this is the worst bike mounting system that I have ever tried to use. The mount is essentially a glorified band clamp, but without the ability to tighten it to a nonstandard surface. The preset holes are difficult to line up and difficult to hold in place to screw everything together. Needless to say, I was not able to secure this mount to the bike, but I was able to scratch my bike's paint which kind of capped off the whole experience.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A must have for a Townie, August 17, 2011
By LuckyLady
I love my Townie but do not like that they do not come with the screws(or whatever they are called) for the water bottle holder. This worked out great for installing my water bottle holder on the bike frame. It has been working great.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Product, June 21, 2011
By dddeoliveira (Louisa, KY, United States)
I have to say after reading a few reviews I felt I should write my own. Simple and straightforward this product does what it is designed for. I have a Moongose Mountain Bike and I needed a place to put the bottle. There was no cagemount on the bike. I put the Topeak CageMount on the back of my seat. It did just fine. It was a little tight for my 24 ounce bottle but I cannot blame the product for my bike design or my failure to measure it. Even thought is is tight the bottle is firm in the Cage, comes in and out easily. I am very satisfied with the product and recommend it if your bike does not come with a CageMount. If you put it in the right place it will work well. If you put it in the wrong place, well it may be on your way.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  ANOTHER TOPEAK WINNER, August 2, 2011
By WWII book collector (Tblisi, Texas)
I needed a third bottle mount to beat the heat this 2011 summer in Texas, and this little gem fits the bill nicely. Combined with a carbon-fiber bottle cage, I mounted this to handlebars horizontally. Works well, easy install : no instructions included. You'll need a 4 & 5 mm hex key. Don't lose the shim, you'll probably need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great!, December 8, 2010
By D. Donelson
I'm impressed with this clamp. It's nicely made, looks good, and works very well. I mounted it on a standard size handlebar and it holds VERY securely. You need to have a separate bottle cage but this clamp comes with two standard cage bolts and the hole spacing is standard so pretty much any cage will work AS LONG AS IT HAS RECESSED MOUNTING HOLES. The bottle cage mounting bolts will stick out and not allow free sliding of the bottle if the cage doesn't have a recessed area for the bolts. I actually used the cage from the M-Wave "quick release" unit and that cage mounted to this clamp yielded a very solid unit that holds a full water bottle exactly where I want it with no movement at all.

At less than 7 bucks with free super saver shipping from Amazon you can't beat this. I LOVE it when something actually works the way I think it should and this fulfilled my need exactly. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid, and good Quality, October 17, 2011
By Josh Meyers (Dallas, TX, US)
I purchased one of those, to go with the drink holder on my bike (2 parts). Works very well and is sturdy. I regret not having bought two of them: when I wanted a second one for longer trips, I bought one at a local retailer (the big stores from Arkansas..) and only in comparison to it (both about same price) the quality differences show: Topeak mount and separate drink holder are holding tight, while the other product tilts and spills my drink; the Topeak screws are also sturdy and can be tightened and opened many times, while the screws on the other product were irregular and stripped out the first time using it. In essence: this is a product I can highly recommend!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Better than the Minoura, September 30, 2011
By Zoomie888 (CA United States)
I used to have the Minoura until it completely fell apart during a ride and left me shoving my water bottle into my jersey to carry it back home. Horrible. The whole thing just fell apart. The part that failed was the poor quality welding in the strap. That was the Minoura product.

This Topeak one works tons better and it so much easier to install. I'm hoping the quality behind Topeak makes me proud to be an owner of their little device. I purchased two for a recumbent tricycle. Although I don't necessarily need the bracket to rotate, their future designs should probably enable the bracket to rotate in a direction perpendicular to the strap.

Though bulkier than the Minoura, I trust this product tons more. Both are way pricey at $8, but I suppose that's the only choice we have for a handlebar mounted water bottle cage.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It'll work but it's limited, September 25, 2011
By Tahoe
I purchased this adaptor for my kids mountian bikes. They work fine after all is said and done but they do not fit all types of frames and handlebars. We tried fitting them on several different location on their bikes, the metal tab that the screw is supposed to go through finally had to have a hole drilled in it so it would fit on standard sized handlebars. It now works great, with a little more work than anticipated.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bicycle accessory mounting giggy., December 27, 2010
By Douglas Baty (Sacramento California)
I bought this on a whim because the price was low and I am desperately looking for ways to mount things on my bike in such a way they cannot be easily stolen. I was pleasantly surprised at the (heavy) weight and solid construction of this - uh - gadget. I guess it is designed to be used to mount a water bottle somehow, but I will be using it to mount other stuff to my handlebar, seatpost, and other round-ish frame areas. It bolts on with an allen wrench. The stuff I have had stolen from my bike has been easy to remove by hand. This can't be removed by hand or with a pocket knife. And so well made with the best materials too.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Looks like it will work great..., August 11, 2011
By Jessica Lengerich (Marbleton, WY, US)
...the only problem is I ordered two and only got one. Even the packing slip said two were shipped... Looks like it will work well for my daughter's bikes that have an abnormal shaped frame and are not set up for water bottle holders, but at this point I can only get one bike set up. A little bummed because I have had such good experiences with my orders in the past.

UPDATE
After emailing Amazon, they promptly responded to my concern and are shipping a new one. As soon as we try them out I will update with how they work. Just for anyone interested, a .75L Camelbak water bottle barely fits in this rack. If you want to use the camelbak with this, I would recommend a smaller size water bottle.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap! Purchase at your own risk!, July 21, 2011
By EM (Chicago, USA)
I got this cage mount for my wife's bike due to her bike not having a place to mount a cage. After searching for some other alternatives, I found this and decided to give it a try.

Install was a big hassle. It would not go on the seat post, the handle bars or any other place I could find to mount it. I tried different settings, but was not having any success. It was either loose or would not go on.

I purchased the Minoura HB BH-60 Bottle Cage Holder as a back up in case this one did not work and I'm glad I did.

Topeak makes some pretty decent stuff, so I was a bit disappointed when I had to return it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits a 26" Ladies Cruiser, July 12, 2011
By Bobbilee (GA, USA)
I was originally a bit worried whether this would fit a 26" Ladies Cruiser since the tubes on such a steel framed bike are so large. However, this fit perfectly {see my picture} and of course it was the ideal accessory that was very much needed to mount the Topeak Modula Cage. Topeak Modula Cage EX Modified Shape Bicycle Waterbottle Cage I am very pleased with my purchase.

Nicely made. Installation was relatively simple. It comes with screws and fit standard bottle cages. It fits my mountain bike without any issue.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Broke on first ride, February 8, 2012

I mounted this to my seatpost and attached my master handcuff lock to it (slightly heavier than a full water bottle), very first bump and it snapped at the body.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Makes the ride so cool, December 3, 2011
By Ernst

I happen to be a toppeak fan.

I have this on my handle bars with the bottle holder and it makes taking hot tea along on a cold morning nice.

I ride a MaB and having to manage clutch and throttle being able to reach the drink off the handlbars is a dream come true.

I had to have a second bottle mount... this is what the dr ordered. maybe a redesign could mount it a little closer to the frame but it works well regardless.

Would not fit anywhere on my wife's MTB.
Would not go small enough to fit her handlebars also.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  QUALITY ITEM!, March 18, 2012
By concrete dog (Grove City, OH United States)
I purchased this to go along with the water bottle cage I also purchased. As it turned out I didn't need to use it as the screw holes in the bottle cage matched up with holes already in the bicycle. The mount is a good quality item though and I will no doubt use it for something else. BOTTOM LINE: Would I buy again??? YES!

If you need to make reaching for a water bottle while riding then this is the product for you.
The adjustable strap made for ease of installation and position of bottle cage.
May be used for other products such as a small bike pump.
Recommend it? Yes...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very well built and easy to install, May 13, 2012
By Ivo
The quality of this item is really good. It was easy to install, on my bike I could do it on the steering or on the seat. You will have to consider the fit size before you make a call to buy this item, as it is may not work for the place you want to use it.

You get what you pay for. Lasted a few rides then the plastic that holds the two parts together snapped. Not mountain bike worthy...probably OK for road biking.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  A good idea, but poor design, May 2, 2012
By 65 year old grad student (Western Massachusetts)
The band/nut combo that you tighten is a real pain. it is very difficult to get both holes aligned to get the allen head bolt in. It was supposed to work on a 2cm diameter bar, but it slipped from the first day. I added more padding and re-tigntened to no avail. By the third attempt, the allen head was stripped, and I had to cut the band with my Dremel to get it off.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Broken mount, April 25, 2012

I purchased 8 of these for myself and for some friends that needed a seat post bottle mounting solution. After I broke 3 of them in the first 3 rides I wouldn't even give them to my friends. Hoping I can get some sort of refund.
