Product Description:
When you're buying a new bike, two factors lord over all others: Weight savings and ride quality. Weight is easy to measure, and doing a dollar-per-gram-saved analysis is simple. Ride quality, though, is more of a mystery. The longer we're in the bike industry, the more we know that one person's 'magic carpet ride' is another person's jackhammer. It's rare to find unanimity in how a bike rides -- is too stiff? too soft? New debates start daily here, and they end not because of measurable evidence, but out of exhaustion.Few items can guarantee an improvement in ride quality, but this is indisputably one of them. The Michelin Pro 3 Race in 25c width is identical in every way to our standard 23cm width, except for the fact that it's a fraction wider. More width means more overall volume to the tire. And more volume translates into more shock absorption. When you absolutely, positively need to mellow out the ride quality of your bike, the surefire solution is to install 25c's. Some folks try to buy a better ride quality by dropping $4k on a new frame or $1k on a new set of wheels. Our suggestion? At $120 you can get exactly what you crave.Just like the 23c version of the Pro 3 Race, the 25c has a Silica Energy rubber compound made in a "dual co-extrusion", which along with its 127tpi casing makes it feel as fast as it really is. One added standout quality of the Pro 3 Race is its flat resistance. On the one hand you get their newly-redesigned "High Density Puncture Protection" to resist glass, staples, and other road garbage. But you also get sidewalls that have a proven track record of blowout-resistance.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  fast, August 11, 2009
By biker (boyds md)
this race tire is fast and secure alright, but what suprised and pleased me the most is that it is also very tough, doesn't puncture easily, and has a very firm grip on all road conditions: dry, bumpy, wet, lose, muddy, etc., I've even used on small gravel-covered sections of roads that are more appropriate for mountain bike or hybrid tires. previously, with such ties as Continental or others, I've had to fix flats and even slipped more often than not under the same conditions.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Tires, September 9, 2009
By Scott
I've put about 700 miles on these tires and I have some pretty severe cuts on them due to the riding surface. Some of the cuts were large enough to have some shell chips stuck in the cuts that caused a couple flat tires. I live on the Mississippi Gulf Coast and there is a lot of blowing sand and sea shell chips are used in the pavement mix. I also rode in Wyoming along some freshly chip sealed roads. I added some tire liners during the last tube change which seems to bring the tires back to their invincible status. This is only the second tire change I've done on my bike so far and wanted to try the Michelins to see if I could detect any difference between them and the Continentals I was riding on before. The Michelins seemed smoother and tracked better but had worse durability by my experience. Overall I liked the tires a lot. I feel like any tire under my recent riding conditions would have had the same problems.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Thank god these are available on Amazon, November 8, 2010
By Meagan A Jones (Mammoth Lakes, CA)
Great tires! I've been running these for the last 4 years, averaging 2000+ miles annually. If you ride hard on rough road, you'll need to replace them more frequently - I mostly ride on relatively smooth asphalt - so I've only had to replace them once a year. If you're a careless rider, and not paying attention to the road - these are not for you! They're a fast recreational tire - but you still have to watch what you're running over. Love that you can match the colors to your bike, and now that I can buy them on Amazon I don't have to pay twice as much from a bike shop.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  A Bust!, April 29, 2010
By J. Vers (Georgia, USA)
Two of these tires were put on my wife's road bike. Her speed difference was immediately apparent. She could finally coast on downhills and stay with me. She loved them. 100 miles later I looked over the tires and the rear had a split in the sidewall and 3 punctures in the center of the tire. Front also has a puncture thru the center. $85 for 100 miles, sorry we can't afford that kind of mileage. By the way, I run the Michelin Pro Race and have had no issues.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Great - if you don't want to ride them on the road, May 21, 2011
By Peter L. Forster (San Francisco, California USA)
Not quite sure why others have had good things to say about these tires. They are beautiful, and they do hug the road really well. However, I am returning my set after one week. I ride about 200 miles a week, and the previous tires (Continental) took me for almost a year without a single flat tire. I have been out on these tires three times with two flat tires. So.... buy these if you either don't plan on riding on a road, or you really want to practice changing tires.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Beautifully made tire, December 26, 2009
By Ragbrai Bob (Chattanooga, TN)
Purchased these tires to mount on my 2010 Orbea Orca. Always have liked Michelins but had to buy these with the orange sidewall as the Orca is in our "Donner Party" (a RAGBRAI group)team colors of black, orange and white. Obviously got the orange sidewall. Look awesome. Only gave it 4 stars cause I haven't put enough miles on them to fairly rate the performance of the tire.
They were hard to mount on my Campagnola Nucleons. Had to use tire irons to get them on, something I really prefer not to do.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  this tire is probably not ideal for everybody, June 13, 2011
By withsd53 (Green Cove Springs, FL United States)
A reasonable clincher for both training and racing, however heavier riders may want to look elsewhere. If you are familiar with the old Pro 2, the Pro 3 is lighter by about 20 grams but less durable. I weigh about 150 lbs. and my last rear tire only lasted about 700 miles due to cuts in the tread from road debris. I have gotten several thousand training miles out a rear tire in the past though and rarely have any problems with the front tire. The Pro 3 seems to have very good dry traction characteristics and a good ride even when inflated slightly over 120 psi. For me, this tire is a good compromise and I will continue to ride them in races and training.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Fast but always flat, January 9, 2012
By T. J. Wheeler (ADK, NY)
They roll great and I'm not some amateur whiny idiot here but, these things are just not tough. Flat after flat. Two sets of these in one season at recommended pressure just to be sure. Switched to Vredestein fortezza's and no problems at all. I'm really confused as to why they are so weak. I want to love them! They look great and roll so smooth! Just make sure you carry a spare tube.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  light, but they wear out quickly, January 6, 2012
By Burlen Loring (portsmouth, nh , usa)
I put one of the highlighter yellow sets on my bike in october. it's now january and I'm in need of replacement. I just happened to look at my rear tire tread the other day and it was worn though right to the threads at 4 or 5 long patches along the tread. I think I put about 2k miles on them. The front is still like new. I give 5 stars because I like the weight, if you want a really durable tire these are not for you keep looking.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Michelin PRO3, December 21, 2011
By CARDA
I haven't used these tires yet... I bought them based on the reviews and the prices, paid $64.00 for the pair... I couldn't pass that up.

The Michelins will be used as replacements to the Kalientes I'm currently running when they ware-out.

Kudos to "Bells Bike Shop" in Philly for the pricing and wicked fast shipment...

HAPPY HOLIDAYS...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Low rolling resistance, lightweight, durable, December 4, 2011
By Ed Cal (Maryland)
Now that these tires ar under $40 it is by far the best tire out there for the money for racing and training. Rolls at least as good as any tire out there. I'm big for a bike rider so I pump them up to 120psi and punish my tires. I've been using them for the last 3 years and they last longer than expected for such a high performance tire - at least 2K mikes on the rear.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Road bike tires, November 7, 2011
By Bohdan
Very good and very easy rolling tires. Also very soft ride. First time I was constantly checking (the tires) and expecting a slow air leak. Right now I have around 500 miles on this tires and no flats, so far.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good grip but easily punctured, September 12, 2011
By james f kovary (sierra vista, arizona, US)
This tire works well for quick curvy club rides. It's light weight and has good stick & low roll resistance. The drawback is in puncture resistance and excessive tire wear.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Pro Race 3 is a standard, July 18, 2011
By dog lover (New Hampshire)
I'm getting 1,500 - 2,000 miles from these tires. They ride, corner, and accelerate well. It's worth shopping for bargains as they are expensive.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The only tire I will use, April 12, 2010
By Wade Karasik
Maybe I have not tried enough tires but I think that these are amazing for going longer distances and touring. They give you great conto.rl and seem to deflect flats well since I have not gotten a flat in the last 2 years of using this tire. I wont switch away from these as long as they are availble

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great tires, September 29, 2011

Simply love these new tires. Great grip and much lower rolling resistance than the stock tires on my Trek 1500. Added bonus is the color coordinated side walls. Great tire at a great price! Too bad cycling season is coming to an end up here in Wisconsin.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Tires, Hard to Install, August 17, 2011
By Matt (Chaska, MN)
I have used Pro3 for a couple years now. The tires have great flat protections, they grip really well, and I can get around 2,000 miles worth of riding out of them--the roads I ride on are pretty nice. I use them for both training and racing. They are a great tire.

I also ride Continental Grand Prix 4000s. The 4000s ride smoother, but they flat more frequently than the Pro3s. Booth tires wear at the same rate.

The only big con is that they are extremely difficult to install. I am using Shimano Dura-Ace wheels, and I broke two Park Tool tire levers trying pry them on. I also manage to pinch one of the tubes during installation, so I had to take them off and reinstall a new tube. Good thing they have awesome flat protections because I am not looking forward to the day I have to fix a flat on the road.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Michelin Pro 3 Race- rides great, May 2, 2011

Not just for racing - I ride miles and and I ride hills, and these tires handle both. Only had one flat in two years, and gone through plenty of gravel and road junk.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  You will run like the wind with these tires, November 17, 2010
By Alexandre - ajulios (Rio de Janeiro, Brasil)
My coach suggested me these tires and advised me about the difference it would make for me to ride with them.
After read on the web some negative reviews about toughness of the product on inclement wheather, I decided to give it a shot since here in Rio de Janeiro never snows or even have the "foliage"....
After try the tires I can say that I'm very positively impressed.
My performance (speed) increased a lot and it really seems to make a huge difference to be riding with those tires.
I definitelly recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love these fast tires! Super aesthetic profile!, May 17, 2010
By Visit my Amazon Profile page! (Bay Area, CA)
I love the Pro3 Race tires. They are light weight, reasonably durable, and very fast and have a really nice looking low profile which I very much like from an aesthetic sense. The only bad thing I would have to admit is that they seem to get cut by glass a little more easily than other some tires I have used (like the Continental 4000s I have used as well). On the whole, I love them! See if you can find them for under $50 US, as they are on sale at times for good prices from different merchants around the globe (not always at Amazon). I like them so much, I haven't bothered to try a lot of other tires, so I can't compare too a lot of others out there.

I have no complaints about traction, or cornering grip. Great ride.

p.s. The Pro3 Grip are just as fast and light, but they wear really really fast. One very very short skid on the Pro3 Grip made a moderate flat spot, for example. These regular Pro3 Race wear a lot longer than the Pro3 Grips.

I have been riding Michelin Pros for a number of years and have really like them. They roll well and feel secure cornering at high speed. They have also been very reliable. For these reasons, I keep using this brand.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good, fast tires., July 19, 2011
By Mobius (Georgia, USA)
I'm not an expert, but I do ride about 100 miles per week on average with these tires.
I purchased my bike used and it came with Michelin ProRace 2 tires on when I bought it. When it came time to replace one of the tires I chose the closest thing available because I wanted it to match my other tire.
I probably don't need a race tire, as all I really do is group rides. But these seem to be fast and grippy. I rode for about 15 miles in the rain yesterday and they seemed to hold the road just as well as when dry.
Based on my usage, I would say that you can probably expect about 2,000-3,000 miles out of these tires as long as you don't damage them.
So again, I am not an expert and don't have anything to compare them to. But I have been very satisfied with these tires.
And they offer them in blue, which matches my bike. So that's reason enough to buy them right there!
I would recommend these tires for.....anyone.

Ok, so I initially bought these tires about a year ago. I've put over 3,000 miles into them, and it wasnt until last week that the rear tire began to show tear. Not only do they work great, but they look awesome and feel race-ready! Ride on!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Holy Moly, these tires are fast!, March 2, 2012
By PowderJacker
I upgraded to these tires after riding the stock tires on my new road bike...what a huge difference. I felt like a real racer out there. Rode the Chilly Hilly ride around Bainbride Island in Seattle and I was cookin on those things, man. No flats, no issues whatsoever. Just fast and grippy. Hit 47 mph down a monster hill and felt totally stable. Great buy. I dig the blue sidewalls, too. You stick out a bit and I got some compliments. Faster=More Fun, right?

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Carry a spare tube, April 15, 2012
By tibor
These tires have the flat resistance of tissue paper. I decided to give them a try when the continental GP 4000's I usually ride went up to $75. Any money saved on these will be made up for by all the extra tubes I'll have to buy.

They do ride nice when there is air in them though

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Faulty item shipped, April 10, 2012
By ggeorge
First of all let me say that I am tottaly satisfied with the Michelin Pro 3 race. This is the reason why I bought a new set to replace my worn tires. The first tire was purchased from Amazon and it came in its originally package. The second one I bought it from a reseller. When it arrived it was obviously oppened before but not used on the road. I did not put them on immediately since my old set was still usable. I finally tried to install the tire yesterday. The first time I tried to pump the tube, it exploded. I thought it was caught between the tire and the rim. However when I installed a new tube I noticed that the tire was torn on the side and this caused a second blown tube. All in all I have to throw the tire now and buy new tubes. Never buying from this reseller again...
