The sleek, sculpted Giro Transfer bike helmet offers everything you need for commuting, touring, and cruising, and delivers a little more than you might expect. The Transfer is made using Giro's in-mold construction, which fuses a tough polycarbonate outer shell with the helmet's impact-absorbing EPA foam liner. Not only does this fusion process reinforce both layers, but the "exoskeleton" also allows Giro to engineer helmets that are lighter, more durable, and better ventilated. The helmet also employs Giro's patented Acu Dial fit system, which hugs the back of your head and reduces the tendency of your helmet to shift forwards or backwards. With a single-handed adjustment of the full-fit band, you can create a perfect fit regardless of your head shape or hair length (the helmet is even ponytail-compatible). To keep you cool on the road, the Transfer comes with Giro's proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system, which combines 20 active vents with internal exhaust channels that thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head while forcing heat and stale air out. The significant increase in air channeling makes a difference that riders will feel immediately. The Transfer is a Universal Fit single-size helmet. Giro's Universal Fit family of helmets is sculpted to look good and fit great for most people on the first try. By developing unique shell sizes based on select customer groups and combining them with an adjustable-fit system, Universal Fit helmets make it easier for you to find the right fit, right out of the box, right away. About Giro Working late nights in his garage, designer/bike racer Jim Gentes created the first lightweight adult cycling helmet in 1985. Friends at NASA helped him tune the final helmet shape and vent placement, resulting in the Giro Prolight, a helmet that was better looking and better fitting than traditional designs yet still met the industry's toughest safety standards. Plus, it was half the weight of traditional helmets. Since then, Giro has advanced its helmets, many of which have set the standards for styling, function, and innovation for progressive, performance-oriented riders on dirt, pavement, and snow. Giro helmets are worn by millions of riders, cyclists, skiers, and snowboarders around the world: young bloods and old-timers; hardcores, heshers, and hipsters; rookies, experts, and a few regular Joes too--in fact, pretty much anyone that appreciates superior fit and function, cutting edge styling, and the very best ideas you get in a helmet. Giro is based in Scotts Valley, California.

Great helmet, just big enough for a 23.5" head, BEWARE Amazon's packaging decisions!, February 18, 2012

Good looking helmet, adds less bulk to my big head and avoids the 'mushroom' appearance my last helmet had. My big head measures 23.5" around and is of average proportions. This helmet just fits me at the largest adjustment. It's really quite perfect for me, but if you're any larger than 23.5", you will need a larger helmet. I had to only use one of the included adhesive pads to protect to crown of my head. I also shave my head, your hair will keep you from needing this.
I compared this to the other 4-letter brand in this price range at a local store. Overall build quality looks better than the other brand: better quality straps, the size adjustment system actually works without binding or loosening up, overall higher quality feel than the competition. Also, there is more styrofoam protecting the lower back of the head that the others. It's no BMX helmet, but I feel more protected than in the other brand.
As others have mentioned, the adjustment straps may cause discomfort near your cheek. I was able to adjust these flat, but you should try the helmet before buying it.
Whoever packaged this helmet was very ignorant. The shipping box was fine, but the manufacturer's box had a 2"x4" hole punched into it, and the foam on the back of the helmet was slightly damaged. Since I'll probably scratch it more on my own, I didn't return it, but this was also because the return shipping outweighs any discount Amazon provided me. Usually Amazon has satisfied, but it's inexcusable to send a damaged product. Just beware, if you want a 'brand new' helmet without a scratch, you may want to cough up the extra eight bux and pick it out at the store.

Bike Helmet, January 12, 2011

VERY light and comfortable helmet. Good ventilation.
It is much smaller on the outside compared to other brands / models, so it does not look so bulky when wearing it.
The dial on the back for adjusting the size is not well designed, and it is somehow hard to adjust, (I compare it with other helmets I have, with better design for the dial).

Giro transfer, October 25, 2011

Let me say that I hate the way bike helmets look. I'm a former skateboarder / BMX rider so the whole spandex tights / mushroom helmet thing doesnt work for me. I'm a casual rider (soft tail with hybrid tires) and I ride about 5 - 10 miles a day of mixed pavement / trails. I generally don't even wear a helmet but was trying to set a good example for my 9 year old she she would wear hers. I was looking for a reasonable comfortable, least dorky looking bike helmet I could find. This fits the bill, it's comfortable, breathes well and has a lower profile than all the other helmets I've tried on. Construction seems solid and the straps and adjustements work well (though the wheel in the back is a bit of a pain to work). Still a great casual, general purpose bike helmet for (imo) a low price. 4 starts

Purchased for my son. This helmet is very attractive. The blue is a bright, pretty blue that stands out when riding. The fit is easy to adjust and comfortable. Good buy for the price.

Great Helmet, But?, May 25, 2012

This helmet has worked great for me. It's very light and looks good. I was a little concerned about it fitting, as I have a 23.5" head. If you have a larger head you will need a different helmet. This replaced a Giro Venti that I had a very serious crash with. The Venti did the job, I hit my head hard enough to crack the foam shell. If you require a larger size the Venti might work for you.

Ordered this for my husband so he would have one in California when we visit our daughter. I think he likes this one better than the one he has at home. Very comfortable fit, adjusts nicely. Very good purchase.
