After more than ten years of refinement, this ground-breaking fit system provides an entirely unique use experience with an unmatched level of comfort, stability, adjustability and weight savings. With Roc Loc 5, you can easily dial-in both fit tension and adjust vertical position with a single hand. Just twist the dial for a tighter feel on tough terrain, then back it off a notch and relax across the flats or a warm climb. Even with these remarkable features, Roc Loc 5 is still 40-percent lighter than its popular predecessor, Roc Loc 4. Roc Loc 5 systems is: 1) Micro Dial. The heart of the Roc Loc 5 is this ratcheting, micro-adjusting dial. A simple, two-finger twist of the Micro Dial opens or closes the retention system and each click is audible. 2) Three-Position Vertical Fit - It's never been easier to change vertical positions and fine-tune fit. We incorporated a three-position bracket that features 15-millimeters of precise up/down movement. Like the Micro Dial, this system can be adjusted without removing the helmet. 3) Carefully crafted ergonomic arms are shaped to be as comfortable as possible, yet work flawlessly with Giro eyewear (what we call Super Fit engineering). 4) Dual Pods - These two panels are designed to firmly grasp the back of your head while comfortably cradling the occipital lobe. Strap management - with Roc Loc 5, your helmet straps are woven through the fit system, so they are always in the perfect position. Complex Internal Design - Dozens of small parts work together seamlessly to provide exceptionally user-friendly adjustment. Minimal and Light, yet Strong - Although this fit system is 40% lighter than its predecessor, it's much stronger. In testing, Roc Loc 5 performs flawlessly, even after 6,600 cycles (equivalent to 3 years of riding with 3 round trips per day).

The Ionos Racing Helmet from Giro is built for exceptional ventilation and strength to keep high-performance bikers protected and comfortable. The Ionos features Giro's proprietary in-mold composite sub-frame (I.C.S.) with a fused polycarbonate shell and EPS liner that provides the strength to support the helmet's 21 massive vents. These vents couple with an intricate network of internal channels to create Giro's Wind Tunnel ventilation system that effectively exhausts hot, stale air as you ride. Finally, the Roc Loc 5 fit system offers a custom-fit from top to bottom thanks to a micro-adjusting dial that cradles your head. Built for serious cyclists, the Ionos has been long time favorite of tour champions Lance Armstrong and Alberto Contador. Key Features: - In-Mold Composite Sub-Frame: Giro's In-mold composite Sub-frame features a composite skeleton fused into the helmet's EPS liner. Visible on the bridges between vents, this series of composite plates is directionally tuned to provide structural support, impact dispersion, and penetration resistance, allowing for large air vents without compromising rider protection.
- Wind Tunnel Ventilation: Giro's proprietary Wind Tunnel ventilation system combines active vents with internal exhaust channels designed to thrust cool, fresh air over and around the rider's head, while forcing heat and stale air out.
- Roc Loc 5 Fit System: Thanks to a ratcheting, micro-adjusting dial, Roc Loc 5 allows you to dial-in the helmet's fit tension with a simple, two-finger twist of the Micro Dial--all while wearing the helmet. Change the helmet's vertical position for an even finer-tuned fit with the three-position bracket that offers 15-millimeters of up/down movement. Like the Micro Dial, this system can be adjusted without removing the helmet. Meanwhile, Dual Pod panels firmly grasp the back of your head while comfortably cradling the occipital lobe. Finally, Strap Baskets keep your helmet straps right where you need them.
- X-Static Padding: X-Static pads provide comfort and anti-microbial properties to help keep the helmet fresher for longer. The pads are also machine washable.

The least I could do is write a review about this awesome helmet. My previous Giro Ionos is on display as a reminder to wear your helmet. The Giro Ionos saved what little brain cells I have. I took a spill on the road going 27mph. I remember hitting the pavement and seeing $$$$ because I knew I would have to buy a new helmet. This helmet is designed to break so the shell shock will keep you alive. It cracked in 8 different spots. I was sold on Giro Ionos and bought a new from Amazon. Light, comfortable, life saver... I will always buy Giro!

I feel obligated to write this review, because I read many reviews that ultimately made me decide that I made the right choice on this Giro Ionos.
This is a great HELMET! I did a lot of research before purchasing this helmet, and I am very happy I made this choice for my safety, fit and style.
The helmet fits perfect and has the option to custom fit it to your head...per instructions.
You will not go wrong, nor regret this purchase!!!

After ordering a few helmets on Amazon and returning due to not fitting well, this helmet was a perfect fit for me. I have a round head (common in Asian) and could not find any helmet in the US market. I even searched the Asian markets only to be disappointed - I found that Asian manufacturers cater to the most common head shape (elongated shape) for export purposes. Grant that this is not a cheap helmet, I felt money well spent on a great fit - adjustable probably for a wide range of head size. You just turn the small knob in the back to make it fit. No regret for this purchase! A great quality helmet!!

I recently had an accident and landed on my head. Fortunately I was wearing an Ionos as my head was well protected despite taking a heavy hit. The hit was hard enough to crack the helmet. I immediately ordered a new Ionos and am even happier with the new version which has a dial type adjuster so my head fits perfectly. It's a great helmet that looks great, has good ventilation and most importantly does it's job well and is an excellent value for the price.

I was all exited to get my new helmet after I crashed and damaged my first one. When I received it it looked very cheaply made, there was excess glue, the some of the strips were unevenly cut compared to the same strip on the other side. there were small chips at the joins etc. This helmet looked like it was assembled by a totally different location compared to my first one....where the QA/QC was obviously not up to standard. I was very disappointed in Giro for actually allowing/selling this particular helmet as one of there top models.
I'm not pleased at all, other than that I suppose it will serve its purpose, its just an eye sore esthetically.

This is a great bicycle helmet. Yes it is expensive but the fit and comfort are perfect for me...Most important this helmet will provide good protection for your head. Amazon had this product on sale which made it an even better value; however, after getting the helmet and wearing it a couple of times I would purchase this helmet at its retail price...(Amazon keep the good deals coming LOL)...

Just got the Giro Ionos Helmet in from Amazon/Bike Guys...What an awesome Bike Helmet. I understand why so many Tour De France riders wear this helmet. It's light weight, fits very well and is easy to adjust, gives lots of air movement, looks and feels great, comes with a "Cooler Weather" insert to tone down the extreme airflow. Overall I am extremely pleased with my purchase!!! 5 Stars...

I ride about 4500 miles a year ( raod bike ) and tend to go through helmets. I have used several Giro helmets in the past and have been very satified with them; however, the Iononos Road Racing has been the best so far. Very light, comfortable on the hottest days and easy to adjust for just the right fit. It's good looking to boot.

The Giro helmet it is adjusted very well on the head, It has very good ventilation, it is very light and aerodynamic, it is also very robust, it is a perfect combination for protection in the event of some accident. The design is very attractive.

Excellent helmet. Fits great. Fits my fat head with room to spare. Several extra liner pieces were included, I assume to change size but the instructions never mentioned them. Only a minor whine, for a helmet that cost almost $200 it would have been nice to have a helmet bag. But otherwise all is good.

This helmet fits down low on my head -- a deep bucket....the least dorky looking helmet I've ever had.
Good ratcheting fit knob in rear. Ironic that a helmet that has larger vent holes than most has the higher price. But it's worth it on hot rides.
For me -- I had to shave some of the foam in the front and add a little more padding to customize the fit, so I don't get imprints (I don't use sweat bands).
