5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright, multiple settings, May 17, 2011
By Hilary M. Stinnett (KENT, OH, US)
Like its matching front headlight, the rear knog boomer is plenty bright. VERY visible, even at high noon in broad summer daylight (now that's saying something!). There are multiple flash settings, which is nice. Couldn't really figure out how to fit it on my bicycle, so I've been keeping it attached to the seat post- could be a problem if you have a rear bike bag attached there (I use a messenger bag). Only takes a few hours to charge up bright, flashes once during shut down when the battery is low to let you know. Love the USB rechargeable- worked for 10 hours straight out of the box (on constant light, since its been dark and rainy the past week or so). Good little light, makes me feel safe riding even on a rainy evening. As always, completely water proof. Sensitive enough to turn on and off even through gloves, but again, wouldn't recommend throwing it in your bag with other things since it might flick on. No problems with maintaining its mode, even on rough patches, if inserted correctly into the silicone wrapping.
Primary use: Daily 8 mile commute to & from work on paved trail and roads, road bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The best!, May 4, 2011
By Marcela
First, I bought a Reelight pack (tail light) but, unfortunately someone cut the wire and the system was ruined.
Then, I didn't like to buy another Reelight-wired-system, so I bought this Knog Boomer USB rechargeable (also environment friendly technology).
Precise size, lighting, easy to use ... and so cute.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Too many modes, otherwise good., December 20, 2011
By whambam
Pros
- Good physical design. Fits seat post well, and looks good.
- Bright, for a safety light.

Cons
- Too many modes.
- Button is hard to find with gloves on.

Make it have only flashing, steady, and off modes. Make the button easier to find with gloves. Don't try to remember my last mode, since I want different modes at different times.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  WANTED TO LIKE IT, May 14, 2012
By TJ (Midwest)
Bought one of these from Amazon after liking my front light. Have not had any problems with the front. However, I've gone through 2 of the rear lights... After awhile it would not turn on after a full charge, it will just flash once and not stay flashing when I press the power button. Bummer. The replacement worked for awhile too until it had the same malfunction, making it unusable. Knog's customer service was not helpful and said to return it again.

Overall: GREAT CONCEPT in lights, love the USB, love the silicone body.
What I dont' like: Hard to turn off, there is like 4 modes and when I get to my destination, the last thing I want to do is cycle through all the modes until it gets to the off position, which takes like 10 seconds to get there. Anoying. I also dont' like that they seem to have a faulty circuit on two of the rear lights I bought!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product, November 28, 2011

Extremely bright and functional light. Also handy to take on and off the bike in a split so you don't have to worry about theft.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  I generally love Knog lights, but this thing Totally Sucks., May 23, 2012
By vic (sylmar, california United States)
First I'd like to say I generally love Knog lights, but this thing totally sucks.

I purchased the USB rechargeable Boomer tail light twice. The first one didn't really hold a charge too long. That one fell off my bike shortly after buying it (mounting is insecure and floppy). I have the USB rechargeable Boomer headlight and love it to death (bright, rechargeable, secure mounting), so I thought I'd give the taillight another go. The new tail light is even worse. It takes forever to charge (over 12 hours) and then it last for like 1-3 hours tops. I really don't like how it mounts either. I threw it in a drawer and bought a clip on and wrote it off as a loss.

I contacted Knog customer service and asked for a discount (not even a free light, just a discount), since I had purchased two defected lights. They weren't much help. They reiterated the charging directions to me and told me to deal with my merchant. I explained that I read the directions and was positive I was treating the light properly, since I had no trouble with the head light. Also, explained I don't have the receipt or original packaging as the light appeared to be working the first couple of hours I had it.

Bottom line, I'm out $80 bucks for buying two crappy lights and Knog could care less even though I've probably bought over $200 in Knog lights over the past five years between my three bikes and gifts.
