These are great fenders! Form and function!, April 24, 2010

These are what you are looking for if you have a balloon tire Electra Townie. I have a Townie 9D with Fat Frank 2.35" tires and was uncertain as to proper fenders. These are actuual Electra fenders. My bike is gloss black and the matte finish works very well. Even if gloss black were available I would buy these. The finish appears to be powder coat or some type of annodize? They are light weight and I suppose would dent fairly easy, as alloy does. They are very form fit and close to the tire but cover only the tread portion of those nice looking Schwalbes. Engineering is very good as they bolt right up without a fight and clear everything. No rubs, no rattles. High quality mounting hardware. The only decision is whether black would work for you if your bike is a color other than black. Very elegant look! Pair these up with a Brooks B67 saddle, Brooks roll-down panniers, a traditional brass bell etc., if you want a great looking Euro-style city bike. I am extremely happy with this product.

Great fit, January 6, 2011

When I initially opened the box they looked way too big and I thought I had ordered the wrong fenders so I was a little skeptical about taking the bike apart to install them. However, once fitted they sized well and have been a welcome addition to my Townie 3s.

Great Fenders, however....., October 20, 2011

The fenders fit good on my Fat Franks but the front strut is not made for a townie 21d that has a suspension front fork. The strut is too long and has to be cut off and reformed and as thick as it is makes it hard to do. I had to use a butane torch to heat it up and bend it. They will work find with a non-suspension type for though.
They really look good but had I known the problem I would have with them I may not have bought them. Still I like them better than plastic and am not sure about sks type. They do have a black in but it may have its own problems. Just beware that if you have the front suspension forks you will need to do some jury rigging.
For that reason I only gave it a 3 because I believe townie could have thrown in a second strut for the front and not gone bankrupt. Not very considerate IMOP.

High Quality Aluminum Fenders/Mudguards, July 13, 2011

I purchased these to go on an aluminum frame cruiser not manufactured by Electra. The bike has 26 X 2.35" tires. Fitting them to a non-Electra bike required some shortening of the fender stays (in my application) and forming a dimple on each side of the front fender to clear the fork. These fenders are only dimpled for chain clearance. The fenders are very light weight, weighing in at only 600 grams ( a bit over a pound) per set with all the hardware. That is both a blessing and a curse. They are so light that they can be bent easily and are not for children. You may want the dimensions: width 2.232" - Height to top of arc 1.010" - Distance from bottom bracket bolt and seat stay spreader bolt 10.0" - 11.0", I believe this set was meant for low rider style frames not the Schwinn type - weight approx 600g (1 1/4 pound). I bought the silver variety which is anodized in matte silver, not painted. The fender stays are formed 1/8" stainless steel round rod. The set includes very nice hex socket head chromed fasteners.
All aluminum cruiser with fenders = 24.2 pounds / all steel cruiser with fenders = 40+ pounds. If you have an all steel cruiser and are satisfied with its weight I'd opt for the chromed or painted steel fenders simply for durability. If you want to build a cruiser as light as some road bikes, this is the ticket. Hope this helps.

Silver???, May 14, 2012

These are great quality Electra Townie balloon fenders. Very well made and fit perfectly.
They went on fairly easily, but had NO directions and several ways that they could have been assembled. :-/ The trick to getting the rear fender on is to deflate the tire. There's no room, otherwise, to get the screw in to mount it to the frame. Be VERY careful reinflating the tire as it's easy to pinch that big tube.
The color is NOT what I'd expected! :-( I was expecting something like brushed chrome, which would match the rest of the aluminum parts on the bike. They're actually more like light gray, which matches NOTHING. I'd figured the factory parts would at least look right on the bike... The color in the picture is very true to life.
