5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Classic for Wheel Building!, December 30, 2010
By J. Mould (Alexandria, VA USA)
The classic for bicycle wheel building. It's all there, from Bill, the old man of the art. The finest custom wheels can be the outcome, taking in the builder's individual requirements of strength, weight, cost, aerodynamics, and more. A thorough explanation and demonstration from an experienced teacher. I recommend it!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Outstanding guide to wheel building, November 14, 2011
By J. Hogan (Florence, SC)
It can be frustrating to find a good shop to repair and/or build bicycle wheels. If you don't understand wheel building essentials anybody than can true a wheel seems like a genius. Out of frustration, I have read several books on wheel building and have attempted to build wheels several times with mediocre results (Unfortuatley, a wheel can be laterally and radially true and go out of whack in just one long ride). After watching this CD, I followed Bill's step-by-step approach and ended up with the smoothest wheelset I have ever owned. Spoke tension is uniform and where it should be for a optimum wheel strength and durability.

This CD is THE resource you need for building a great bicycle wheel: It covers "how to" as well as the other topics such as the "physics of a bicycle wheel". Don't waste time reading a book, you can learn much more by watching this outstanding expert and teacher.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Video!, September 18, 2011
By Scott K. Dinwiddie (Alexandria, VA USA)
I had been thinking about building a set of wheels for years. I had actually read a number of books on wheelbuilding, but Bill's video walked me through the steps and provided the pointers I needed to actually sit down and successfully build my first pair of wheels (so far the wheels have several hundred commuting miles on them and are still as true as when I first put them together). I really can't thank Bill enough for putting together this great instructional video. As long as you have the standard wheelbuilding tools (which he goes over on the video) or have access to them, this video and the components for your new wheels (and a little patience) are all you need to build a great set of wheels. If you are interested in building wheels and looking for help, you will not find better instruction than this video. Highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Video, July 13, 2011
By MT (Vegas)
This is a sit back and watch video, that has given me the confidence to build a wheel. I have several MTB Front wheels, and I have disassembled two and reassembled them using this video. I did need to spend some money to get a few tools, and will get a solid wheel truing stand by the end of the year...

Next I need to do a rear wheel several times, and then I will build a set of 700 wheels for my road bikes and compare the ride with the Cannondale OEM wheels that seem to go out of true to often...

I am not the light weight I was 30 years ago, and need a 36 spoke wheel, rather than the light weight 28 spoke wheels I have currently...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  master wheelbuilding dvd, March 4, 2011
By jeff
i built my first wheel before watching bill mould's dvd -- about eight hours, wheel out of true, dish problems, and wasn't sure how to go about correcting the errors. i watched master wheel building three full times, pausing the dvd to read the detailed instruction panels. i finished the wheel i'd started, in about an hour -- perfectly true and dished, spoke tension on both sides exactly where it should be. and i built my second wheel in about three hours. bill mould is a wonderful teacher. on the dvd, he gives excellent explanations on: the attributes of a quality hand-built bicycle wheel; an overview of approaching a wheel build, both theory and practice; what to think about when choosing the tools to build the wheel; spoke lacing patterns; spoke tensioning, theory and practice; wheel dishing, theory and practice; stressing the wheel to keep it true for thousands of miles on the bike. after you've seen the dvd, you understand the principles of wheel building -- and, you get the practical knowledge you need to build that perfect wheel.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Resource, Fine Instruction, January 29, 2011
By Biff Bechenschnifter (College Park, MD United States)
I bought this DVD to use in conjunction with the wheel building course that Bill teaches. Both the video and the class were extremely well designed and intelligently presented. Bill is the perfect teacher, combining both an engineer's sense of precision and systematic approach to the topic, with an artist's concern for the aesthetics of the final product. I knew nothing about building bicycle wheels, prior to Bill's instruction, but now feel confident in my ability to both build wheels "from scratch" and to make routine adjustments and repairs. Although I was happy to have the opportunity to enjoy Bill's personal instruction, this video easily stands on its own and could be used by anyone interested in building a quality wheel. A highly recommended resource.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Master Wheel Building DVD, January 23, 2011
By Sonny
This DVD is a very comprehensive instruction on wheel building. I especially appreciate the text notes that are throughout the DVD that serves to further explain a particular step. The close up shots is also extremely helpful in understanding a process or step. I also use this DVD to remind me of the appropriate procedure on truing and/or checking the dish on my wheels. I took Bill's wheel building class; however, I will use this DVD as a resource to build and maintain my bicycle wheels on my own.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Can I Really Build My Own Wheel?, January 20, 2011
By Larry P. Steinmetz (Springfield, VA United States)
Yes I can! This is a high quality production tackling a subject that very few people understand, including the vast majority of the bike riding community. The instructor, Bill Mould, comes off as an approachable, highly knowledgeable, and passionate wheel builder. This training video provides the requisite information to step a person through the process of taking an assortment of different parts on their workbench and turning them into a strong and true hand-built wheel. Those with little to no experience need not worry; everything is included in this video to provide the confidence to successfully tackle a wheel building project.

I also appreciated the included appendices (8 total) covering the following: Wheel Esthetics, Component Choices, Disc Brake Tutorial, Measuring Spoke Length, Tensioning Bladed Spokes, Wheel Physics, Building an Eccentric Wheel, and How to Use a Truing Stand. This is a value-added feature that enhances and reinforces the training provided by the main content of the DVD.

I think it is fair to say that there is plenty in this video for all, from beginners through accomplished wheel builders. There is a lot of bang for the buck here and I doubt there will be too many unhappy campers who purchase this.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fantastic!, February 11, 2012
By David Dennis (USA)
This is great, step by step instructions on wheel building and truing. I had read the manuals (Park and others) but I just didn't feel confident with the knowledge I had. Watching an expert do it, clears up any doubts. I highly recommend this to anyone who wants to maintain their own bikes.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A fabulous video, December 21, 2011
By AussieUser
If you have an interest in Wheel Building and plan to buy just one item. This is what you should buy. This is a tremendous DVD and explains exactly what to do. I have no doubt that my wheel building would have been a dismal failure except for this video/ DVD. I have built a number of wheel sets so far and the wheels have been a huge success - without a doubt due to this DVD.

It is superb and I can't recommend it highly enough - if I could give it 6 stars I would. The explanations are clear, precise and very helpful. The ability to generate even spoke tensions and a well dished wheel is critical to a well built wheel. This will take you through these steps.

If you are interested in building a wheelset of your own - go for it. The satisfaction of riding wheels you built yourself is amazing and the ability to maintain them yourself is wonderful. Just do it - you will not regret it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A Great Instructional DVD, May 15, 2011
By Shaun
This DVD by Master Wheelsmith Bill Mould should be in every wheelbuilder's library, from novice to advanced.

Bill does an excellent job of going through the list of tools required and the different components that make for a finished wheel.

He takes his time demonstrating the initial lacing process;this is particularly helpful for anyone new to the wheelbuilding process.

The DVD has a great layout;it includes an appendeces that features extra info:all of it useful.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  THE reference guide when it comes to wheel building, February 10, 2011
By Euro Wheel Builder
I already know how to build wheels, and yet this DVD is a great piece of documentation to have.
Everything is explained in a quiet, relaxing manner (just like you should build your wheels) that everybody should be able to understand, pro or novice. The patient, step by step explanation is excellent, and every step is also shown in detail, which is a big bonus.

Do you build wheels, or are thinking of doing so? This DVD is compulsary reading (watching).
