The Yakima HighRoller Upright Bike Mount lets you load your bike onto your roof rack without needing to remove its front wheel. As one of Yakima's top-shelf models, the HighRoller's automotive finish looks sleek on your vehicle, and it won't harm your favorite bike's paint job because this mount holds onto your bike's wheel, not its frame. This mount carries any bike with wheel sizes 20 to 29 inches and with nearly any tire size, from skinny roadies to three-inch fatties. Even bikes with disc brakes and unique suspension designs can ride on the HighRoller. A sliding wheel tray makes positioning your bike's rear wheel a breeze. This bike mount comes with an integrated SKS cable lockAAAyou need lock cores (sold separately) for it to work.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  High Roller mounts won't fit Subaru racks, 30 pound weight limit, July 25, 2010
By Teacher (The Wild, Wild West)
The standard mounts that come with the High Roller will not fit on newer Subaru racks (Subaru's new factory racks - which many Subarus now come equipped with), yet I was told by a Yakima rep they would. No way did they fit. I called again, and another rep told me I had to by Yakima's Universal Mighty Mounts to enable the High Roller to be installed on my Subaru racks. I was assured the Mighty Mounts would be an easy install w/ my racks and the High roller. Nope. Doubt the rep has ever tried to install the Mighty Mounts. Hired someone at a local pro shop to install them after I had trouble, and even he had a lot of trouble (A LOT!), especially since you have to intall them backwards so the High Roller doesn't interfere with the Subaru hatch-back. Then I got conflicting info from the manual AND from a Yakima rep about what the weight limit is for the High Roller. Apparently, when installed with the Might Mounts, the weight limit is 30 pounds. An awful lot of bikes weigh more than 30 pounds. I don't feel very safe with this product. My bike sways. Maybe people whose racks work with the standard mounts won't have trouble, but I sure did. A lot of Subaru drivers buy Yakima products. The company needs to be more forthcoming with info. Giving the High Roller two stars, and the Mighty Mounts one star.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Yakima HighRoller Bike Rack, August 16, 2010
By INH
I love this bike rack. It is easy to use. Before buying this i did a lot of looking online. I saw reviews that said that their bike moved around a lot and it looked unsafe etc. I am happy to report i have no such issues. I have a road bike with 700x23 tires. It holds my road bike in place perfectly. The only movement i can see is with the truck and no the bike its self.

That being said i was kind of disappointed when i went to try and install this. I had to buy the Yakima might mounts. These where not recommend thus i did not even think about it. The picture also lead me to believe that the mounts that came with it where the might mounts. This is not the case and i had to buy the $40 add on mounts. Also something to think about. This rack does not come with the SKS lock cores. If you want to be able to lock the bike rack to your cross bars and lock the bike to the rack you have to buy these. I was very disappointed that i had to pay a good amount for this rack, the "high end one" and it does not include these things. I will buy another one of these. I guess i know for next time.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works like it's supposed to, July 19, 2011
By Orange Curtain (Anaheim, CA)
I bought two of these just in time for a 360 mile round trip to Santa Barbara. I was a little nervous because I didn't have a chance to test it out before the trip. The rack was installed on Yakima round cross bars. Installation is straight forward and I had no problems. The bike is a 24" road bike and the front part of the rack grabbed the front wheel with no problems. It takes less than 60 seconds to get the bike on the rack and locked down. I had the car up to 90mph on highway and the bike did not move. I kept a close eye on it through the sunroof. I brought a little step-stool (I'm 5'8") to give me a little more height when putting it up and taking it down - but that's just how it's going to be if you have a roof bike rack. This rack is NOT locked to the roof rack (you CAN lock the bike to the bike rack but you need to buy an SKS core) - to do this you need to buy TWO additional items, the SKS lock core(s) AND lock HOUSING (which I didn't know). Otherwise someone who knows what they're doing can have this off your cross bars in a couple of minutes with no tools - and off goes your $180 bike rack, along with your bike(s) (or two of them)...

I would give it five stars except that Yakima makes you buy all these extras to secure their equipment. This is my first bike rack so I have nothing to compare it to but it does exactly what it's supposed to do - secures your bike rock solid without having to take off the wheels. 60 seconds on, 60 seconds off - ready to ride.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent!!, July 20, 2010
By Ricardo Morales
After reading reviews on this rack from various websites, I decided to give it a try. This may not be the cheapest rack for your bike, but considering the price of a nice mountain bike, it is well worth it.

Nothing beats arriving to the trails and only taking 5 minutes to get the bike off my roof and gearing up for the ride.

The highroller keeps the bike very secure to the yakima roof rack system.

My only concern is that if someone knows how one of these works, it is fairly simple to steal it right off the top of your car.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice bike rack but pricey, April 3, 2010
By C. Twining (Los Angeles, CA)
I have had this bike rack for almost a year now and have had the opportunity to use it probably a dozen times.

I like that it allows me to take my bike on it without fiddling with the tire. It also doesn't scratch up your paint job like the traditional bike racks that strap on top of your trunk.

I ended up buying this one over some of the other Yakima racks when I discovered that some have issues with disc brakes, and some don't allow you to use it with a Yakima Fairing.
So the pluses are that it allows you to use it with the bike facing forward, with both wheels still on even with disc brakes, and without having to remove the roof fairing.

Its a little bit of a pain to use in that you instantly lose all roof clearance you had. Because I park in a garage I have to take my car and leave it with lights blinking in a driveway to go get my bike etc when loading and unloading it. On the other hand, I don't have to carry the traditional rack down to the car and install it. I suppose the best of both worlds would be a bike rack that mounts into a trailer hitch. But of course then I would have to add a trailer hitch which would make it expensive ( and my car isn't useful for towing anything so the expense of adding a trailer hitch just doesn't seem worth it).

Its not all that easy to load by yourself. Its manageable but not super easy to get the bike into the groves. The red button has stopped allowing me to push it to fully release the back front bar. Also the part that attaches to the rear strap has started sliding around from front to back. For the amount of money this cost ( picked it up on sale on amazon) it should be better built. Perhaps I just need to tighten a bolt or something.

Nice in that it allows an SKS lock core to be put in it. The cores are the way to go btw. I have one key for the towers as well as cargo box, bike rack, ski rack etc.

Excellent product. I own three of them. Easy to use and won't scratch the paint on the frame tubes. I bought this through Amazon / 7Gifts. 7Gifts shipping was very quick and their customer service is excellent.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The best bike rack I ever had, May 16, 2011
By El Muinas (Mexico)
This is a solid rack. Very stable and secure. Twice they tried to steal it and it was almost impossible for the theft to take it off.

Obvously this requires the locks and the yakima tubes and fix towers but in the ned the set is the best i ever had and i have had several brands.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  HighRoller on 2003 Subaru Forester, March 18, 2011
By mapmgr (United State of America)
I purchased two of these racks from my coworker several months ago. He had them mounted on a PT Cruizer which suffered major hail damage and he transitioned to a pickup so no longer needed them. I have a 2003 Subaru Forester with factory roof rack.

With his help, we've installed one of the two using the Universal Mighty Mounts (with included A-size clamp)-- requires 3 of the set of 4 mounts. This past week was the first opportunity I used the rack to carry bikes. Worked well, with a little sway due to the Subaru cross rack flexing some. I was also driving with a pretty good crosswind (gusts up to 32 mph). I am of small stature (5'5") so I have to use a step stool to put the bike up. I also tend to forget and leave the rear wheel sprocket strap on top of the car after removing the bike; bungee cord seems to work okay if necessary.

Bikes carried so far are small 2011 Giant Cypress ST (girls) and small Trek Mountain Track bike (boys), so I hope I'm not exceeding the weight limit.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  High Rolling, August 10, 2010
By Mr.BWaddle
The quest for available vehicle storage space is a dilemma of the serious recreationalist. Management and utilization is the key. Yakima designs the tools to meet the needs. The HighRoller Rooftop Upright Bike Rack not only makes setting the bike in place easy, it provides security.
As an owner of a Ford Explorer, with a growing Family the need for space to pack all the toys is as ever increasing challenge. Yamkima, does a great job in helping me meet the challenge. I give the HighRoller 5 out'a 5!

How's that for a product plug !?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Big N Strong, a true highroller., January 2, 2012
By Hao Tan (New York, NY)
I bought 2 of these and they work great. I mounted them on my 2001 Audi A4 with Yakima round crossbars installed.

Yakima RoundBars Roof Rack Cross Bars (78-Inches)

It got to our destination safe and sound and I was driving like normal as if nothing was on my roof with the exception of the annoying sound the cross bars were making. It fits different wheel sizes too. She had an extra small Specialized bike and I had a medium Trek 7.3. It's great that you don't have to remove any wheels to mount your bikes.

It may look bulkier than the other mounts out there. When I took these down and stacked them together, these mounts took the same amont of space than the other one's out there. In fact, I was able to fit both mounts in one of the boxes that these were shipped here with. Which was the original retail packaging.

I must say it is heavier and may not look as sleek (this is subjective) as the other mounts out there though, but that's a sacrifice for heftier protection and can mount bigger and heavier bikes.

One thing to note though. Get your lifting belt when trying to get your bike on top of your car.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  amazing design, April 20, 2012
By Bob (Canada)
My hat is off to the Yakima designer who came up with this bike rack. It works brilliantly and looks like a rocket launcher on my car's roof. It is a joy how fast you can put a bike on your roof. I particularly like ending my trail ride and having the bike n the roof in 15 seconds while other folks wonder how I drove off so quickly.
If it could be improved I find the rear ratchet a little finicky, but that is splitting hairs. It also probably weighs more than the typical bike rack.
