5.0 out of 5 stars.  Strong and dependable., September 21, 2011
By Erik
Bought one of these for myself when I got tired of always borrowing a chain whip from friends. I use mine all the time when swapping cogs between bikes and it's never gone wrong on me. Even when I have to give the handle a solid kick with my foot to break a cog loose, I have no fear of it bending or breaking.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great chainwhip!, July 8, 2011
By ryansamuel
Everyone who works on their bike knows the reputation of park tool products, and this one is right up there. It is solid and has a good amount of length that gives you leverage for those tight sprockets. One product suggestion would be to give the user the option to swap out the chain size so it can be used more universally on different chain types. I don't think a product like this exists, so maybe I'll get a patent.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Can't do without this, November 24, 2011
By Dr. Rob (Hershey, PA)
If you have a cassette (vs. a freewheel) on your rear wheel, it is IMPOSSIBLE to remove it without a chain whip. Literally, it cannot be done. You'll also need a cassette lock ring remover ([...]) to get it off, but that won't work without a chain whip to secure the cassette (Note: You need the CW to get the rear cassette OFF, but not to put it back on). While Park Tool is the recognized bike tools leader, theirs works the same as any other brand. They all work in the same manner, so if you can find one cheaper somewhere, then consider buying it. But no matter what, you need a chain whip to remove the rear cassette. It's that simple.

I gave it four stars because there are cheaper ones out there that work identically. You're paying extra for the Park Tool name, and that's sort of a waste of money.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Another excellent quality tool from Park, October 17, 2011
By Bobmon (Minneapolis, MN)
I've been an avid cyclist for a number of years now and with the amount of wear and tear I put on my bikes I usually have to swap out a chain and rear cassette each year. It can get a bit pricey, even just for the parts. And, being somewhat of a do-it-yourselfer I decided to try my hand at changing out my rear cassette myself this year. You'll need a few tools to do the job, and I highly recommend Park's Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair or other such guide to walk you through the steps. But, this chain whip will let you hold the cassette in place while you use a lockring tool to unlock the cassette to be removed. If you don't have the chain whip the cassette will want to free wheel on you or you'll have very sore hands from trying to hold the sprockets.

Park always makes excellent tools and this is just one more. I never feel like a Park tool is going to bend or break on me and the dimensions/width of their tools are always proportioned just right for working with bikes.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works, February 18, 2012

It's a Chain whip. It works. Makes changing the cogs on your sw8 fixays easier. Why? So you can run 65 gear inches and skid like a madman. Sure it ruins your tires, but you'll get all the babes. It's science.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works, February 1, 2012

I purchased this to repair my cassette. It was fair priced and worked on my bike. No complaints. Not sure what the other end is for since you need the chain whip side to hold the cassette in place while you loosen it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Quality, October 16, 2011

It's a Park Tool. 'Nuff said. Make sure you have the correct freewheel/cassette removal tool though. You shouldn't try to use this tool by itself.
