5.0 out of 5 stars.  Shimano 7-Speed Shifter, May 23, 2011
By Jay
Purchased this shifter to replace the broken one on my wife's 21 speed Trek mountain bike. Item arrived in about a week in factory packaging and installed easily in about 20 minutes. My wife likes this thumb shifter much more than the original as it has a more positive thumb "click" (both tactile and aural) plus a visual gear indicator.

Not shown in the product photo but included in the box:
1. full length steel cable.
2. handlebar mounting bracket.

Jay

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Value Replacement for Alivio and Altus Shifters, June 28, 2011
By c-bike
I have used these for several rebuilds on older bikes with Altus and Alivio shifters. Although lower end of Shimano set, they are reliable and have yet to have them break down. Very easy to install and comes with all hardware you should need, including housing, cable, and cable ends. Directions are a bit muddled, but if you know anything about bikes, pay attention to how the old ones come off, can look at pictures, or just think clear, you should be fine installing them. If you cannot get the derailleurs adjusted (which is not really a part of the shifters, but really the derailleurs themselves) you can take it to a local bike shop and they'll do it for about $10+/- (or you can look on youtube as there are several videos on how to do it).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  works for me, June 8, 2011

Works for me. For $12 this gets 5 stars. Bought it with the complementary pair 3 shifter. Needs some adjustment but shifts well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great shifter, May 16, 2012
By Travis
Simple and to the point. Indicators are clear and shifting is precise. This is a great deal considering it came with cable and housing. I used this for my 1x7 set up on my 29er. Works great.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good shifter for the price, September 11, 2011
By A. A. Hamilton (California)
We put these shifters on those $100 Schwinn Ranger bikes from Target. The grip-shifters that come with the bike break easily -- both our bikes experienced shifter failure after about 2 years of use. The Shimano Acera shifters are an inexpensive "good enough" fix to this common failure. For something like $15 each both bikes are back on the road for another year of riding to school. And better than that, it kept them out of the landfill. It only took about 30 minutes to install and adjust (with help from a great youtube video) and works with the derailleur that comes with the bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent upgrade for older drivetrain., January 2, 2012
By j dogg
Ordered this for an older MTB, the gummy, sluggish action of the original system disappeared, the bike now shifts as well as any $1200 new bike, with the original derailleur. Shipped almost overnight, for free! Feels very similar to my LX shifter, would recommend.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  7 speed ease, December 14, 2011
By Mountain Man (West Virginia)
I needed a 7- speed controller for my rear cassette. I liked the look of this and tried it- it works like a champ. I am pleased with the smooth action. It was a breeze to install the cable is already installed, it was a simple as threading the housing, clamping it to the handlebars and securing it to the derailleur.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cool shifter, November 13, 2011
By fluffy kitty (oregon, usa)
I'm very pleased with this product because it came will packaged with the wire already in it. It shifts more smoothy then the one I had before, and it was easy to install. It came with instructons and even the housing for the wire. I'm going to by another for the front gears when i can. I think it is a wonderful product for the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Switcheroonie, October 21, 2011
By mr m ober
I bought these to replace a broken switcher of the round kind and they work well enough. They do look a tiny bit cheap but i'm sure they'll do the job and they work perfectly as well as they are easy to install once you've figured out how to place them... although I'm having a bit of an issue with convenient reach since the brake leaver before the switcher makes them sit a little bit to far for easy reach. Although you can still use them fairly conveniently and a slightly slimmer brake 'footprint' would make a difference.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Shifter..., October 3, 2011

This shifter provides positive gear engagement on my Trek 7200. Changed from grip shifters - what a world of difference for commuting and pleasure riding.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Easier Shifting, September 17, 2011
By seigafo
I am converting to a higher handle bar with the intention of easier shifting and faster shifting. Hoping this works as space on the handle bar is limited. Will be able to give an honest rating then. Thanks
