5.0 out of 5 stars.  Shimano 3-Speed Shifter, May 23, 2011
By Jay
Purchased this shifter to replace the broken one on my wife's 21 speed Trek mountain bike. Item arrived in about a week in factory packaging and installed easily in about 20 minutes. My wife likes this thumb shifter much more than the original as it has a more positive thumb "click" (both tactile and aural) plus a visual gear indicator.

Not shown in the product photo but included in the box:
1. full length steel cable.
2. handlebar mounting bracket.

Jay

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect replacements for grip shifters., July 4, 2011
By D. Welch (Arkansas, USA)
Bought this set to replace the grip shifters that came on my Walmart Mongoose Deception 29". The "Wal-Goose" is a 7 speed rear cassette and 3 speed front sprocket. The SRAM grip shifters were junk, these went on with no problem and I had them adjusted and working perfect in about an hour. Like other reviewers said these come with the new cable preattached so all I had to do was route the cable through my existing housings.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect shifter, October 14, 2011
By allan brill
This part perfectly replaced the drive gear selector on my old 21 speed mountain bike. The original no longer functioned and I liked the bike, so I purchased this part as a replacement and it works great. I am glad that I made this modest investment.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Value Replacement for Altus/Alivio Shifters, June 28, 2011
By c-bike
I have used these for several rebuilds on older bikes with Altus and Alivio shifters. Although lower end of Shimano set, they are reliable and have yet to have them break down. Very easy to install and comes with all hardware you should need, including housing, cable, and cable ends. Directions are a bit muddled, but if you know anything about bikes, pay attention to how the old ones come off, can look at pictures, or just think clear, you should be fine installing them. If you cannot get the derailleurs adjusted (which is not really a part of the shifters, but really the derailleurs themselves) you can take it to a local bike shop and they'll do it for about $10+/- (or you can look on youtube as there are several videos on how to do it).

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice step up., November 5, 2011
By ewallacestudent1 (USA)
I like these over older style shifters and use to replace twist sfifters when restoring middle of the road bikes with the twist shifts. A little pricy but it also increases value of the restored bicycle, might be a better value if sold in pairs, but too many combinations would have to be carried so I see why they are not. Bottom like if it's a pretty good brand bike - worth it, low end - not.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect!, January 25, 2012
By John
I had a broken grip shifter on my Schwinn Moab and I know nothing of bike repair. I purchased this based on the reviews and must say it was really easy and I love it! It does come with plenty of length on the new cable as well as the handle bar mount. Mounting it on my handlebars was a little tricky only because I don't know much mechanically. Just keep things really loose until you are sure on placement and you'll be good to go. Definitely a quality shifter once it's set properly. It really has a nice 'click' to it and it just feels really quality and sure. Look up how to set up your shifter on youtube.com so that everything shifts clean.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for any replacement, or new build., January 2, 2012
By j dogg
This shifter went on an older bike and now it shifts flawlessly, the original derailleur has never felt so good. Some slack had to be left in the cable in the granny gear in order to get the proper adjustment in the big ring, still works great.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent, October 31, 2011
By skylineaddict
There's nothing negative I can say about this shifter. It screams quality and delivers on that scream. The metallic levers are sturdy and won't be breaking any time soon. They replaced the gears on my Genesis V2100 because the internal mechanism in the stock shifter broke (But I replaced both the shifters with Acera). The locks in this shifter click loud and seem very strong. Time will tell how wrong or right I am.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Shifter, October 3, 2011

This shifter provides positive gear engagement on my Trek 7200. Changed from grip shifters - what a world of difference for commuting and pleasure riding.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  works for me, June 8, 2011
By Borello (USA)
Works for me, for the price at $12 it gets 5 stars. Needs some adjustment, but shifts well. Placement on curved handlebars was a bit tough, but with straight handlebars it would work well.
