Im going to review in 3 areas; Quality, Value, and Usability., June 30, 2011
By IRAxMAELSTROM

|
Im going to review in 3 areas; Quality, Value, and Usability.
Quality: poor build quality, mostly cheep plastic, but it wont fall off your bike and break. (I just wouldn't trust this on a car.... or extended exposure to weather) I ordered 2, and 1 only works at about 50% capacity... so all in all... it holds true to the "made in china" stigma.
Value: considering these come with batteries for $3, ($1.50 each) its a great deal. considering shipping ($4.50) it rapidly dwindles in the minds eye...
Usability: very useable on the whole(regarding people with nonstandard valve stems, they dont fit.) easy to understand where the batteries go and whatnot.... lol
OVERALL:
for under 8 bucks shipped, you can have 2 glowing valve stems, and they are very bright! (clarification; the 'good one' is very bright) it was almost startling at first actually.
P.S. If anyone would like to see a video of what they actually look like on a bike tire. Let me know. cause there are none online that I could find.
P.P.S. watch out for those batteries when you take em out. they are easy to lose.

This video shows my bike on a trainer with the light in 1 valve stem. It is supposed to be green..it does have a hint of green but also some blue.. so.. based on that and the fact that you would have to take these off every time you decide to ride in the light they are so so. For the money they are great. I got 2 in my package.. i know some people say they got 1. Not sure how long they will last since I just got them but for $5 you can't go wrong. I like the spoke lit best

Works, but..., August 12, 2011
By Think Light (Boston)
|
|
I got the green ones, which have green stripes on the clear lens casings and a green LED. These take 3 AG10 batteries each & you need to remove a little piece of paper inside the battery casing when you get it.
I felt that the light was too intermittent to give the effect shown in the photo - It is more of a streak-darkness-streak-darkness effect. This improves the fast you go, but I would need to go pretty fast to make it work like shown in the photo. Riding under bright streetlights sometimes would turn them off, sometimes not. Although they function, I'm not overly impressed and wish I had gotten more of the rainbow colored ones (2x the price but nicer).
I'm not going to return them because of the shipping cost, but if I got these locally I would take them back. I'm going to need to supplement with additional lighting.
They come in an easy to open, cheap package with poorly translated English instructions. They are very easy to install. Careful when you open the batteries as they fall out easily it is in the wrong orientation and they are tiny so they might be hard to find if you drop them.

Nice and bright, but doesn't fit presta (skinny) valves, November 24, 2011
By Harry Pottash (Tujunga, CA, United States)
|
|
I had been hoping to add a little extra light to my road bike, so I figured I was willing to take a $5 gamble and see if they would fit on my valves.
It looks like "fits most tires" means that it fits on schrader, and possibly donlop valves. I'm not unhappy though since the product seems good, and I just slapped them on the mountain bike I use for burningman.

Not Advertised Color: All Blue, July 23, 2011
By Mike Rodriquez (San Jose, CA USA)
|
|
I ordered the red, green and blue versions. Turns out they are all blue. Lit by a blue led. The actual unit has red or green or blue colored plastic, so the red unit is purple and the green one is a stronger blue-green.
The product description says "red led" and "green led" so to me these are completely misrepresented.
Having said that, they seem to work and are colorful.
But, don't be confused, if you want a red or green led light, you're not getting it here.

I ordered these despite some reviews saying that they only received one and not two as the "2PCS" would imply in the title of these valve caps. I also read some reviews saying that they didn't look green (more like a blue with some green hints). I don't know what happened in their case, but I just ordered them, got them a day later because I'm a PRIME member... and guess what, they're very GREEN, they're BRIGHT, and I got 2 of them! So I just wanted to create this quick video to show how I got them and how they look.
I will say this... They seem pretty cheaply made of some plastic with a fake metallic finish on it. I don't foresee them lastly long BUT I hope they do. But for $5 bucks, these seem like an easy fix with some added style and safety for riding at night. They do as they are described and fit on my schrader valves that I have on my bicycle. Can't say whether or not the batteries will last long since they're no off switch (guess you need to uninstall them or take out the batteries for day riding to prolong the life). I needed some caps anyway to prevent dirt from getting in the valves. I got my bike second hand in like-new condition, just didn't have caps on the valves. These will do the job (for now)!

Not very good, September 17, 2011
By T (D.C.)
|
|
I am surprised by the praise from some folks in the reviews of this item because it was a total failure for me. My son is an avid biker ... rolling up 35 or more miles a day. But neither he nor I could get these lights to work. It is true there is not much money involved here, so we discarded the lights and moved on. But no good for us.

Waste of Money, August 10, 2011
By HenryM
|
|
Do NOT waste your money on these. Quality? - There is none! These aren't even worth the 99cents price - not to mention the $5 in s&h you'll get charged. Picture the cheapest third world flea market you can - that's where you would find these. Good luck finding SIX batteries you need for them. That won't be cheap. And if one of the led's doesn't work - batteries are non-returnable - and best of luck sorting out your return on a $.99 item.
Let me save you some time - look for something else... anything else... other than these...

Works Great, March 29, 2012
By JosephA89
|
|
Arrived on time, came in a plastic bag containing a package with a single light in each one. Took them out and unscrewed the battery compartment to remove a circular piece of plastic that was keeping them from going off during shipping. Screwed the cap back on and Bam!, they were working. The brightness does depend on how fast they are moving, so shaking them around in your hand is not going to be the same effect as having them on your tires. Great product for a great price and defiantly makes cycling at night a lot safer.

Nice and Bright, December 19, 2011
By robbyrobaz

I've tried a few and these work great. They are really bright and work whenever there is decent movement from the bike wheel. If you're riding slow it blinks, but if you're riding fast it's almost a constant glow. They've lasted a while now and I have no complaints!

pretty cool and just worth my $5, December 19, 2011
By kirby16
|
|
i gave this product a 4 star because of the shipping was inaccurate because maybe it was only worth $5 to me. so i bought this item and it took about.... 15 days, which is fine with me because it was only 5 bucks and i understand the shipping business is not that easy for an item that is lowly prioritized.
so the real deal is that i got a free bike, without a seat and caps for the tires, these are actually cool caps with style too. i just need a cap for my tires. and BTW i like the color green so thats why i kinda liked this soo much when i saw the item i just quickly ordered it.
remember...... u dnt have to turn on the lights if u dnt want to use the feature at certain time..... i jus happen to like the color green and needed caps too.

not 2 pieces!, December 15, 2011
By janet

Despite the product photo (showing 2 lights) or the product title "2Pcs Green LED Flash Tyre Wheel Cap Valve", you only get ONE, therefore you will need to order 2 if you want one light for each of your bicycle tires. This is somewhat disappointing when you open your box when it arrives, so just warning you.

cool idea, but annoying, October 17, 2011
By LouisianaRN

I bought them for a commuter bike. They work as told, but are always on when the wheels move. Unscrew for daytime use them and any vibration sets them off while carrying them around. It is not practical for a quick park and lock, but definitely great for being seen.

Bright Blue light, October 17, 2011
By M. Andrews
|
|
I bought this to be a backup for my other set of neon green lights, but was surprised to see they actually give a blue light. The light is very bright on my bike so they definitely make me feel safer. The fitting is good on my shrader valve but I can not get them to fit on my presta valves. The connector they provide does not fit presta valves.
The lights last about a month when I ride about 120 miles. I'm trying to decide if its worth it to remove for the ride home in the afternoon when I don't need the light - to try to save the batteries.

Cool Item, July 13, 2011
By TheYaxisOfEvil (Ohio)

I like them. The only issue I had is if you put them on a motorcycle you may not want to do high speeds (100+) Either I had a weak valve stem or the extra weight from these broke it.
They are very bright..looks super cool and adds visibility at night. They are also blue on the tips, but mostly green.
I would order them again.

Never worked, February 17, 2012
By J. Sinclair
|

To start off, the package we got was missing a piece, so we could only "install" one of the two lights.
But then even that didnt work. Tried riding in a pitch-dark garage and the light wouldn't turn on.
Don't risk it, even if it is cheap.

This light never worked in my bike., February 15, 2012
By fabio montesino
|
|
I bought this led light because I use to ride afternoon and frequently the night caught me riding. I thought these will help to get notice in the darkness, but that was not possible because the light never turn on and I trow away with not hope, because I think maybe it was because of the battery charge was low, but there is not way to change this battery. So, I think this is a waste of money.

This product is great. right when i oppened it up it felt great. may people say that it feeels fake but to me it didnt feel to bad for the price. I still have to test this product on my bike but i did try it out with it in my hands and they are quite bright and are sensitive to movement so when you move the light it will turn on. Overall good for the price and even if it does break in a year who wouldnt want to get another one. its only five bucks.

Product: decent. Company: meh!, January 20, 2012
By Skeptic (Salt Lick City, UT)
|
|
Clearly there are two items in the description and any pictures...yet somehow people are still only being sent one.
We purchased these only to find a lonely light in the package...and when we contacted the company, while they accommodated us with a complete set, it took having to use a poor seller feedback for them to do it. How about instead of shorting plenty of people (which is obvious by the reviews) just package the lights 2 to a set like you advertise, rather than make people hassle you for the complete order?
As for the product...its fine. Dont expect huge things from it, considering its sub-$5 price-tag...you'll be amused with it for a short while, until it breaks, and you'll feel like you got your money's worth.
Quite frankly though: if you can pick up this same item from a company that isnt automatically shorting you on your order...I'd suggest doing that.
Would I buy the item(s) themselves again: yes...they do what they are supposed to.
Would I buy from this company again: no...they dont do what they are supposed to.

only 1 light, color not consistent, quite bright, January 7, 2012
By joe
|
|
Just bought these, and contrary to what is written, there is only one light.
It is quite bright.
The quality of the product looks pretty bad as expected, but it works (for now).
It lits when there is movement, and mine do not seem influenced by the surrounding light (which is nice to me)
Since I bought it for being more visible on my bike, I tuned it so that it lits all the time (not only when moving).
I just took apart the chip, and on the led side I pushed the spring with a little piece of paper so that it will always be in contact, and put the chip back.
Obviously I have to manage to turn it off (for now i unscrew the bottom and put some paper under the battery spring, but I will look for a smarter way to do it).
As for the color, the LED is blue, and there are green stripes (I ordered for green).
To sum up, it does what I wanted it to do (being visible), so I put 4 stars, but I expected to have 2 lights, and have it all green.
I will ride it a little more and then probably buy some more, since i do not see any other equivalent.

The picture makes it appear that there are two lights. In reality, there is only one light in the package. I haven't seen it work yet, and I guess I shouldn't be surprised when it was only $5. I hope it looks cool when it's used.

These lights are great! I ordered 2 packages of lights. I got 2 lights per pack! From the other reviews, I wasn't sure that i'd get 2. The lights are great and fit all of the valves on our 8 bikes. The lights are very bright. They aren't the best quality, but they are definately worth $5.00! I do a paper route on my bike and they are a great safety feature. They look cool too.

Nothing like the picture., March 24, 2012
By Ello M8 (Asheboro, NC)
|

At about 30mph the light will stay on continuously. I put it on my car so i had to order 2 of them to get a total of 4. When the package came in it looks like 1 per package however there is a hidden one in the back. The light is blue with what looks like thick green fishing lines in it. If you look at it from the side it looks green green-blue (80%green, 20%blue) but more than likely not everyone who sees you will always be at that 90 degree angle. Would have been great if they actually put a green led in there. Also it is not meant to be wiggle (like pulled on the nipple of the tire then let go) because that's how my friend snapped the light. I would recommend however get there specialty. BLUE. not green nor red or any other on the market.

I bought these just so if I ride at night, something else to get noticed by. Got my 2 in the package. Were a little beefier than expected. As soon as I took out the little paper tab, they lit up with little movement at all. Fit right on my valve stems. Just kinda can't wait to be the envy of the neighborhood kids.

Valve Cap Tire Lights, February 27, 2012
By Naida L. (Portland, OR, USA)
|
|
I love the valve cap wheel lights. I ride to work at night for my graveyard shift, and they add a lot to make me feel visible and safe. The advertisement shows a wheel completely lighted, but the only way to get that kind of light is if you're traveling 50 miles an hours--so that part is deceiving. But the light actually creates a nice bright circular blinking light. It's a nice addition to my head and tail lights.

These really work, May 12, 2012
By Vegas62 (Las Vegas, Nevada 12 years)

You just unscrew bottom, remove the battery saver tab, screw back in, put on the tire, a enjoy at night. The first night I had people pointing and looking, and the kids love them especially. I got them for my adult night riding, in a very dangerous city for pedestrians, and bikers. Ordered some back up batteries. I will get some of the other colors later, to change it up a little. My bike looks like a christmas tree, these make a huge difference.

Very good, May 7, 2012
By Moataz (Queens, NY)

Hey guys, I forgot this out on a thunderstorm and thought it wasnt waterproof, but it is! The quality is ehhhhh.... just some cheap glass and metal but the light is cool. WARNNING: the erect object thing inside is green, HOWEVER the real light is blue, so this is mainly blue. Idk maybe if you buy the blue one itll be green? BUT THIS IS REALLY BLUE! either way my bike is red so yea it looked good. I have a 26 scwin mountain bike and it fits.

These items are cool things to add to your bike. The construction isn't all that too great but it does make your bike stand out. I would buy again for the price and coolness factor. =)

Nice product but deceptive feature list, April 24, 2012

It is an interesting product and is helpful in making yourself visible while biking at night. I just wish sellers did not resort to posting deceptive information about their products. There is NO light sensor in this product. The light is activated and, kept on, by motion sensor. It will shine day or night as long as the bike is moving. Also, it does not form a continuous circle of light at normal speeds (I rode my bike at around 20mph). It is more like a band of light "chasing its tale" in circle. Otherwise, I am enjoying the product and find it useful. I have both green (more of a green blue mix, really) and blue lights. If I were to buy again, I would buy blue, because the color is nicer and, possibly, more visible.

I bought these for my friends birthday. He loves riding his bike and he loves this color of green. He was really stoked when I gave them to him, so much so that we all threw some on our bikes and went out for a 1 am bike ride. Great times! Product came way sooner than expected so I was greatful for that. Plus they came from another country and had the converter for american products. Very cool
