Crankbrothers Candy 2 Pedals are a serious bit of eye candy. The new two-piece aluminum body is a gorgeous hunk of CNC machined and ano'ed bicycle art -- we're suckers for it. It's stronger, more durable, and just as light as the old resin body of the older Candy pedals. And as usual, the Candy 2 body gives you a bigger target to hit than their Eggbeaters when you want to get clipped into the pedals in a hurry, and it offers up more support for your shoes and feet.Just like the Eggbeaters, the Candy 2 Pedals give you 6° of float and come with two-bolt cleats that fit any mountain bike shoes. The brass cleats are slightly asymmetrical. So depending on which foot you install the marked cleat -- right or left, you'll get either a 15° or 20° release angle. Another benefit of Crankbrothers' use of brass for the cleat is that they're slightly softer than the steel used in the retention system of the pedals. This ensures that the inexpensive and easy to replace cleats will wear out before your spendy pedal parts. And thinking of your investment, Crankbrothers designs their pedals to be easily serviced. They can be disassembled, re-greased, and bolted back together in just a few minutes. They have a forged chromoly spindle, stamped and plated steel retention wings, and a stainless steel retention spring. The pedal body spins on Crankbrothers' long proven bushing/cartridge bearing system.Crankbrothers Candy 2 Pedals come in Orange and Silver. They include the cleats, two shims to protect your shoes, and all the necessary cleat hardware for installation.

Very Happy, May 22, 2011

Pedals arrived quickly and at a great price. I have ridden with the old style candy pedals for about 4 years and the bushings finally wore out. I like that the external wings are now an alloy material.

I have never had clip-less pedals before, but these are great. very easy to clip in and out and stay secure while riding up steep inclines. Seem to be very durable. I hope to be riding with these for a very long time.

Good pedal for multiple uses, June 20, 2011

I had these pedals put on my cross bike because they clean out so well. My husband already had the lower model and liked them, so when we had to get him another pair so he didn't have to switch pedals from his cross bike to mountain bike all the time, we got another pair of Candy 2 pedals and he likes them as much as I do. Would definitely recommend depending on your application. We use these on our cross bikes, which we ride on the road with slicks when it isn't cross season, but if you are strictly riding road, you might want to go with a lighter pedal like from Look. But these are good for multiple applications if you don't want to or don't have the money for multiple shoes and pedals.

Excellent - Light, tough, and simple, April 12, 2012

I now own three sets of the Crank Brothers pedals and these are my favorite. The machined aluminum body is definitely a step up over the Candy 1's. Like all of the other Crank Bros., the grip is secure, but release is never a problem. For those of you worried about the lack of adjustable release, forget it. This simple bulletproof mechanism will outlast the SPD's by years.

Wonderful Pedals, March 21, 2012

Have been using these for about a year now on my mountain bike. Easy to install, and easy to get used to for this first time "clip-less" user. They've taken some scuffs while maneuvering between trees on a local single track, but they hold up great.
Also, with the pedal around the egg-beater, they can be used for short rides without your cycling shoes while managing a level of comfort; sometimes I do this when just riding around the neighborhood with my wife.
Highly recommended.

I wish Hi-Tech design meant durable too, February 8, 2012

Although I'm rating these pedals highly for their great design and ease of entry/disengagement, there is one design flaw I have come to dislike with my various Eggbeater pedal models. Actually a lot of modern clip-in pedals have this problem. They use TINY ball bearing cartridges which just self-destruct after too short of a time. The balls themselves are about the size of the plastic-coated heads on shirt pins. Yes, they are rebuildable for $15/pair, but I'm switching to clip-in pedals with loose ball bearings that I can change once a year, whether they need it or not, for less than a dollar.
