Thule's Ride-On Adaptor is the middleman between your car's factory rack and almost any Thule Bike carrier. If you don't want to invest in an entire Thule rack, you can simply get the Ride-On Adaptor and save tons of cash. The adaptor comes with universal mounting hardware that attaches to most factory racks. It comes with 32in load bars so there's room for two bikes. Strong, level load bars provide an ideal platform for mounting your bike. It works with the Thule Criterium and Big Mouth upright carriers as well as V2, Velo Vise, and Long Tray Classic fork mount carriers.

Very Versatile, May 16, 2007

I just bought this item and was not sure what to expect. First of all, be advised that this is an adapter only that will allow you to mount racks to a factory installed roof rack. The Thule adapter attaches on to most factory roof racks be sure to check the fit guide for compatibility at www.thule.com. I used this adapter to add a pair of Yakima Raptor bike racks to my roof. Yes it worked with Yakima. The only adjustment I had make was to use a hacksaw to saw off some plastic components on the inside edges of the Yakima rack that fold in and out. I assume these were meant to be cut off because they folded back and forth. Leaving them on allows you to mount to a rounded bar and cutting them off adapts them to this bar which is rectangular in shape. In less than 1 hour everything was complete. This item is very afforadable, versatile, and easy to install.

Great value rack adapter, October 23, 2007

Installed this adaptor on a Subaru Legacy Outback wagon with factory installed rack. Adaptor fits well and holds our Thule bike rack securely. We've taken several long distance trips with this without any problems. Great option for someone who already has a rack and simply wants to use it on a vehicle with a factory installed rack. Highly recommended.

Here I was, owner of a terrific rack system for my city car, and I needed to use that rack on my Subaru. This product went on the car in less than 1/2 an hour and works great.

good for what I needed, August 13, 2010

The Thule 532 fits a fairly small market niche, namely people who own accessories that fit on Thule square bars but don't fit on their factory racks. This was the case for me when I traded in my old VW Jetta for a newer Subaru outback. For those, like me, stuck in such a situation, the options are pretty grim. Either sell all of your old accessories and buy ones that will fit on the factory rack, or buy the Thule 532.
That being said, I'm quite happy with how the 532 has performed so far. It fits on my factory bars, like it said that it would. It holds my bike racks, like it said it would. The bad: bars are pretty short. 2 bikes fit side by side only if the handlebars are different heights or if you front-to-back the bikes. Also, the structural pieces on the rack mount are plastic, decent plastic, but I'm a little worried about the longevity of the rack. Because of the plastic structural pieces, I would probably recommend only using it for bikes and skis, not for canoes or something bigger.
I'd recommend buying to anyone in a situation like me. I'm happy with my purchase.

Works Perferctly, June 26, 2011

After realizing that I needed to buy this adapter to get my new bike rack to fit to my factory jeep racks. It isn't that expensive and really secures the bike rack to my roof so I don't have to worry about my bike coming off. Really easy to install. If necessary I can always swap out my 55" bar to accommodate more bikes. You can squeeze 3 bikes on this guy.

Thule 532 Rack Adapter Review, June 16, 2011
By WaveRider (California)

Purchased these bars to take my tri-bike out to train by the oceanview highways in So.Cal. The bars are wide enough to fit one bike and one front wheel adapter (I use one Prologue bike carrier). I also use the 450 Crossroad Foot Packs. I place the front wheel carrier on the rear bar. Everything fits nicely and secure. I have a crossover SUV with a factory roof rack and these items fit with ease and looks clean. I would definitely recommend getting extra locks especially if you are using the lockable skewer and footpads (A six-pack may do well because if you use a Foot Pack adapter in the fronts and rears (4 total) and then lockable Skewers on the Prologue, then you will need at least 5 locks. The six-pack locks will all use the same key (therefore less keys to carry around). If I get my new tri-bike by this summer, then I will upgrade the load bars to the 50's and purchase another Prologue (should have bought the dual Prologue & 50's bars first, but my new tri-bike was unexpected). I would suggest that if you are going to have 2 bikes or thinking of purchasing an additional bike in the future, you might as well go with the dual-carrier package and longer load bars now, rather than wait like I did. I don't mind the expense because these items are very good quality/name brand and can be sold easily. For this review, the 532 pack is a solid, light-weight system from a reputable company. I am happy with the purchse.

Did what they were supposed to do. Easy to install, and held up VERY well with no apparent strain on the factory rax for my 2002 Mazda Protege 5. Just got back from an 850-mile round trip, mostly on interstate hwys at high speed, with two mountain bikes on top and no worries.
