4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good but maybe not worth the cost, June 30, 2011
By Dan (Draper, Utah)
I started using this product when i started training for my first iron man. I DID notice a difference especially when i would run out and need to order more, there were 2 times that the week I would run out and not take any I would notice a sharp decline in workout performance. I wouldn't want to work out and when I wouldn't do well.

I didn't like the idea that I would be tied to a product in order to work out and I also didn't like that the benefits from using the product don't seem to be maintained. They definitely help you work out harder (which ultimately makes a difference) however since we are talking about endurance and not gaining muscles it is difficult to say that it is worth the cost. Endurance is lost after a week or two of not maintaining it, I think next time I train for an iron man I will not use the product but instead purchase it for the peak training part.

Note: After taking the product you will notice your face and body get tingly, the website and resources online say that it is a side effect of the ingredients, if you want to reduce this you can take 2 pills at a time instead of 4. I started to take 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening. Yes you are supposed to take 4 pills a day. The bottle contains enough for 30 days

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Optygen HP, October 20, 2010
By T. Decarli
I have been using Optygen HP for 3 months now and love it. I was skeptical at first but it actually decreased my perceived exertion during mile splits from a 10 to a 7. The outcome is longer exercise duration at a higher steady state. It did not decrease my max or resting heart rate, it just enabled me to exercise at my max heart rate during training and races to a point that I felt less pain/fatigue. I am amazed and completely sold on this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Oxygenate !, August 29, 2011
By michael wise (SAN ANTONIO, TX, US)
I was a little skeptical in buying this product, since I already use others containing some beta alanine, but this formula definitely has helped my gym workouts and cycling. Don't be surprised with the beta alanine twinges your face may get when first using, but it's not that bothersome. If you have to take tabs separately, that's okay, as I normally take one with my normal supplement intake then take one or two before my work-outs or rides. After a month, I have seen additional strength and aerobic capacity increased. There are some excellent articles written about Optygen, and I would encourage you to read them. There really is no down-side on it's effectiveness, rather, the only complaint anyone seems to have is about the price. But that is subjective anyway so read for yourself, I believe you will want to at least try a bottle and see for yourself !

I gave this a try and could see a difference but have since moved on to Endurox Excel which has a better effect and is significantly cheaper!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great stuff, July 20, 2011
By Gman (Pennsylvania)
I have used this item for almost 2 months and it really gives me a boost in long hard races. After 35 minutes in a race I find I have more left to surge ahead and no one can stay with me. I have been winning races this year against people that I could not stay with last year.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Recover Faster, May 7, 2011
By RJP
I find that I recover faster both between and within workouts. It seems that I can maintain a higher intensity at a lower heartrate. It's a very subtle but noticeable effect.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product!, April 10, 2011
By Antman
Perfect supplement to give you that extra bit of help during a race. Works better than sportslegs, but don't think the effects are going to be instantanious because it took about 3 weeks for my body to adapt. And nothing takes the place of rigorous training but if your looking for supplemental assistance look no further!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Optygen HP, March 9, 2011
By Scott Price (Mesa, AZ United States)
I lose alot of body fluids through excessive sweating during my workouts. Optygen HP helps with the leg cramps I get often after my workouts. Of course, the other benefit I get is a good run!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Noticeable Difference!, September 28, 2011
By fitskitz
I am a whole foods type of athlete and very skeptical about any supplements. I absolutely love Ultragen as a recovery fuel/drink and is made by same company so I looked at their other products. My husband and I both decided to try Optygen as we train for 2 races so this was a financial investment. We are in our 40's and after about 2-3 weeks of taking Optygen we have BOTH noticed a difference. Simply stated, it takes away the "bad" days, those days when you just don't have the energy in your well-trained body. It takes away some of the fatigue you would have walking up the stairs later in the day after a hard bike or run. It isn't a stimulant so it doesn't give you a "high" or sudden burst of energy. It just helps eliminate the sluggish feeling and some of the burn you might feel riding or running hills. We are DEFINITELY sold on this product and will use it during our training seasons!! We have felt no tingling as some have reported. This product makes training that much more enjoyable with no ill side effects and we love it! Amazon price is great compared to others.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very noticable/positive effects., December 31, 2010
By RWilson
Took away the lethargic effects of skiing at altitude this season. After 3 weeks of usage, noticeable difference in both hill climbing while road cycling and prolonged activity at 9,000+ feet.

Administered Optygen HP as described on the bottle. Zero side effects.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Optygen HP, November 17, 2010
By Mac (Syracuse, NY)
I started using the original Optygen product dating back to 2006. I had signed up to do America's Most Beautiful Bike Ride (AMBBR) In Lake Tahoe and was concerned about some of the climbs there at elevation. I definately felt the improvement in my available oxygen on long and steep climbs. As First Endurance released the new products such as HP I have continued to use them - although I frankly don't see much of a noticeable improvement over the original formulation. That said I do recommend this product since it continues to offer an edge on climbs in particular.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Optygen HP Is It Worth It?, January 4, 2012
By Edward L. Grant (South Florida)
I have been riding for the pass 14 years - road cyclist about
75 miles a week with cross-training in the gym

I have attempted to 'clone' my own but OHP works for me a bit
pricy - sure!

Heart-rate down and breathing easlier.
Just try it for yourself you have everthing to gain!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  skip it, April 11, 2012
By the-man
Haven't noticed anything. It does calm me and cause fatigue, so if I'm stressed and want to watch TV its perfect, but there are cheaper supps for that. I used the VO2 utra before and thought I noticed more air in swimming laps, could've been placebo.

I would skip it unless you find it dirt cheap. You can buy a starbucks double shot for $2.50 at 7-11. I highly recommend those.
