About Coleman
More than 100 years ago, a young man with an entrepreneurial spirit and a better idea began manufacturing lanterns in Wichita, Kansas. His name was W.C. Coleman, and the company he founded would change life in America. A man plagued with such poor vision he sometimes had to ask classmates to read aloud to him, Coleman saw a brilliant light in 1900 in a drugstore window that stopped him in his tracks. He inquired about the light inside and discovered he was able to read even the small print on a medicine bottle by the illumination. The lamps had mantles, not wicks, and were fueled by gasoline under pressure instead of coal oil. Soon afterward, Coleman started a lighting service that offered a "no light, no pay" clause--a big step forward for merchants who were burned by inferior products that rarely worked--and drew substantial interest from businesses that wanted to keep their lights on after dark.

In the ensuing years, Coleman expanded its product line well beyond lanterns. The company's current catalog is thick with products that make spending time outdoors a pleasure. There are coolers that keep food and drinks cold for days on end, comfortable airbeds that won't deflate during the night, a complete line of LED lights that last for years, powerful portable grills that cook with an authentic open-grill flame, and much, much more. Coleman has truly fashioned much of our outdoor camping experience, and expects to do so for generations to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for camping!, October 22, 2010
By Megan Morris (Murfreesboro, TN)
My husband and I needed a new air mattress to use while tent camping, and we've always had good luck with other Coleman products so we decided to go with this one. The price was a big factor in our decision, too, and you can't beat $30 for a quality air mattress!

It fit nicely inside of our tent, which is designed to sleep three people very snugly. It stayed inflated the entire night, which was a nice change from previous air mattresses. The double-locking valve is a plus, too: It keeps air from escaping when you pull the air pump nozzle away from the valve when you're finished inflating it.

Bottom line: If you're looking for a single-level air mattress that is durable and holds its air over night outdoors, this one won't let you down.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great except for misleading size, October 24, 2010
By Warren Buske
Used one night for guests, worked great, didn't seem to leak, inflated quickly using a reversible shop vac. Made from thicker material than another air mattress we have.
Only negative is the claim of being queen size and using queen fitted sheets. Actual dimensions are 76" x 58" which are less than advertised and the queen size fitted sheet I tried was much too big for it. I tried a Full size fitted sheet, and that was perfect. I thought maybe they put the wrong mattress in the box, but I checked, and "Queen" is printed right on the mattress. So I took off one star, but otherwise it seems like an excellent air mattress.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  what a shame.........................., January 29, 2011
By William E. Gray (Colorado)
I have now purchased four Coleman airbeds over the last 2 years. The first lasted about 16 months, the latest MAYBE 3. None were ever used for 'camping'. ALL were used indoors on carpet....didn't matter. The latest developed a seam leak at one of the coils.that was the one I found and sealed.........little difference - only slowed the time to the floor.
I kept thinking that I had just gotten a "lemon"....but as the quality has consistently dropped (due to outsourcing???) I'm through. How sad. I truly hope that their other pieces of equipment are not so drastically affected.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty good but small., February 2, 2011
By JR
I got two of these to use on a winter camping trip. Other than the false claim of being queen sized, I would have given them 5 stars. They are not s big as queen mattresses. However, they were big enough for our purposes. Just to give you an idea, I put three kids on one and two adults and a 5 year old on the other. It was snug, but doable.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  It Leaks., June 6, 2011
By FoMo (New York City)
It leaks.
Bad.
Go to sleep on a bed. Wake up in a hammock-on-the-floor.
This is not a feature... Unless you like to wake up every 4-5 hours, for a sleepy pump-sesh. No not *that* kind of pump-sesh... The kind where you are pumping up your own bed, at 3:30AM, unsatisfied. That kind of pump-sesh.

The double-valve is a nice idea, the attached wrap is handy, and the top is soft.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Hole after one night, October 14, 2011
By ceejay2 (Annapolis, MD)
It was great the first night but in the middle of the second night, we awoke to a deflated mattress. We discovered a hole at a seam on top of the mattress. It wasn't punctured, so we're chalking it up to poor quality. It wasn't an expensive air mattress, but we thought it would last more than one night given that it's a Coleman. We won't buy another of their air mattresses.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Doesnt hold air, September 27, 2011
By Honest em
Got this items for couple of guests to sleep on it. Used it just two or three times, however, over a period of night time, the air inside started reducing. This was quite slow first, later, it started more.
To check, I personally slept 2 nights on this, and realized that full blown mattress at night turn into almost flat sheet in morning.
Spent almost $75 with this and the electric pump. Feel its waste of money

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Constant leak-fixing, September 5, 2011
By Beto Glenn
These cheap airbeds are fairly comfortable as long as you keep a lot of air in them. The problem is that they leak frequently (often at the inner seams) and it is difficult to find leaks. Many times I've awakened to a flat mattress and a backache :-(

Pros: Easy to inflate using a hairdryer or pump

Cons: Has to be patched every few weeks

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Coleman beds surpass Aerobed, March 26, 2011
By Selling on Amazon Made Easy (Georgia, USA)
We went through 4 Aerobeds (and almost 3x the price). Our Coleman beds have lasted the longest and are far more comfortable. We put these in the back of our truck with a popup tent and we're all set to enjoy a day at the beach or an overnight stay.

I purchased the Coleman queen bed not for camping or anything like that but to use it at home for just lying

any problems...very nice product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Glad I didn't get the $100 Aerobed, August 14, 2011
By S. King (Boulder, CO United States)
I bought this specifically for camping but it did also come in handy for overnight guests. All I can say is that I am so glad I didn't spend the $100 on the Aerobed as this mattress is so comfortable. It's the best camping purchase we've made yet! We decided on the manual pump option and it takes about 5 minutes to fully pump the queen. We've not had a leak and it has always held the air for our usual 2 night excursions with 2 adults and 1 toddler sleeping on it. Which I can't say for one of our camping companions who had a more expensive bed which kept deflating each night. The soft top is very nice and helps hold the fitted sheet in place, but doesn't make for easy wipe down when the camp conditions are dusty (it is a little hard with a dog and a toddler to try and keep it clean).

As an FYI: I do not think this mattress is as long as a normal queen. Width wise I'm pretty sure it is. But, it fits my 6'-0" husband, my 2 year old and my pregnant self perfectly and a queen size fitted does work on this bed. Also, what was in the description is what I got (I've read some didn't get it with the "wrap"). I did see this mattress at Target for $10 more.

Another "con" is the "storage roll" is a little lame. A bag would be nice. But not that big of a deal that I would knock a star off. I also wish it came with a pump but at the same time at this price it's nice to be able to chose your inflating option (i.e. rechargeable, battery operated, 12V, or manual...).

2.0 out of 5 stars.  WARNING -- No pump, no customer service, and no returns, August 15, 2011
By Jane Doenut (New York, NY)
I have no way of knowing if this product has leaks or works, because I did not realize it comes without a pump or any other way to inflate it. It does come with a big piece of paper saying "DO NOT RETURN THIS PRODUCT TO THE PLACE OF PURCHASE" and a consumer service phone number. Calling the number is a waste of time; I was put on hold indefinitely. Coleman's on-line FAQs casually reveal that they are sorry returns cannot be accepted unless the product is defective. It doesn't say that anywhere on the Amazon site. I have never run into anything like this before. Ever. I would not recommend dealing with this company.
Update: I accept the comments pointing out that I could have returned this enormous piece of plastic to Amazon, if I could manage to roll it up (I don't often shop online so I didn't know), and that it's my own fault for not reading carefully. Also, Coleman did provide a pump eventually, though I have had no chance to use it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty good mattress, December 22, 2011
By Crystal (Chicago, IL, United States)
Perfect mattress to use while I'm looking for a "real" mattress for my bed. You can make it very firm or soft and it seems pretty durable. Been sleeping on it for 3 nights and I haven't had to refill it. I took off one star because even though the box said Queen size, this is NOT a queen size bed. It's closer to a full size. Not a deal breaker, but it's best that you should know this before buying. Another star because you have to buy a Coleman air pump to fill the mattress. Boo on you for doing that Coleman!

Other than that, it's a good buy.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Coleman Queen Quickbed, December 4, 2011
By Sandy W
We had tons of sleep over company for Thanksgiving. I had a 11 yr old girl sleeping on this Coleman bed and we had to blow it up every day of 6 days! By morning our granddaughter was basically lying on the floor. She is not very big either. Very unhappy with this item.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfortable but gets problems fast, November 6, 2011
By Matt Res
This is a really comfortable mattress with some problems. About once a week I had to inflate it a bit because of escaped air; there are no holes in it, but it gets softer over the week. If you use it for a few days at a time, it shouldn't be a problem for you.

The worst problem, though, is after three months, one of the divots came detached, producing a tall bump. The next night two more detached, waking me up and making only half the mattress usable.

Keep in mind that i slept on it every night for three months, so if you just plan to use it camping or in another intermittent fashion, it should last you awhile if my experience is the norm.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Eventually leaked but I'm getting another, October 9, 2011
By Paul (Fishers, IN United States)
When I bought one of these some years back, I liked the suede top (more for friction than comfort), the valve (which I could close easily without excessive leakage after inflating) and the integrated storage (it's hard to keep track of everything when you're camping). It has developed a slow leak that I can't find so it's trash now. I wish I could remember how long we've had it - I want to say at least two years, probably not as many as five.

Anyway, I like it well enough that I've just ordered another - the exact same thing. It gets four stars from me only because it didn't last forever.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product, great price, October 1, 2011
By dmsilver
This is a great product at a great price. I made the mistake of assuming that a more expensive bed would be better than a less expensive one; but the $70 bed I bought before this one was awful and didn't blow up to be firm. This bed is a quarter of the price, blows up firm, holds its air and has an effective and easy-to-use air outlet. Highly suggested.

I have only slept on this air mattress once and it is very comfortable. Don't like that the bag is not detachable. Inflation is fairly fast and it is very firm. The air has held well so far though I have only used it once. Would definitely recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Now that I can sleep, I really like camping., August 29, 2011
By meglet
I've only used this air bed once so far (on a 2-night camping trip) so I can't speak to the longevity of the item, but it worked great for the 2 nights I used it. On the first night it did as expected (as explained in the instructions that come with it) -- the plastic stretched a bit and we had to add some air the next day. The second night it seemed to hold up perfectly and wouldn't have required any more air for a third night. Seemed like a really good bargain and I've never slept so well while camping. This air bed actually makes me want to go camping more often!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great air bed for camping or home use, August 14, 2011
By Z. Jackson (Camby, IN USA)
This is a great air-bed for camping or home use. We just returned from an 8 night car-camping trip and this air mattress held up great in our tent. We filled it up using a hairdryer on the cold setting and it only took about 5 minutes. Two adults slept on it for 6 nights before we had to add any air, so it does a great job holding air. It was also very comfy and did not shift around when the other person moved. For the price this is probably the best air bed you can buy. It is pretty light weight, and rolls up pretty small.

Pros:
Holds air well
Comfy
Easy to fill since it is single-high
velvety cover on one side is more comfy than vinyl

Cons:
no included pump
attached "carry-roll" is not that great. I would rather have a bag with drawstring since the roll does not protect the ends of the air-bed when in storage.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  very comfortable, August 3, 2011
By Inbound (Tigard, OR USA)
Initially I purchased the king version of this bed but sent it back for a few reasons. This bed, however, we'll be keeping. We've had it out for a weekend of camping and it performed well. We filled it up during the day and then topped it off just before bed as the temperature had cooled down. It didnt leak any air. It is very comfortable. The only thing I'd recommend is that you cover it with a queen size fitted sheet to keep the off-white color from getting dirty.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Slow, steady leak., July 20, 2011
By Daniel Albert (Marblehead, MA USA)
Unfortunately this airbed started to have a slow leak after about a week. I inflated it and left in the tent on the carpet before starting a big trip, simply to air out the PVC smell. Two days into the trip it started to have a slow leak that left my wife's bottom on the ground by the end of the night. The pump worked well, the "Wrap n' roll storage was useless, but none of that matters much if it won't hold air. I've tried find the leak, but to no avail. My guess it is in the seams.

I know these beds all die eventually and they're probably all made in the same Chinese factory, but I figured going with Coleman would give me some protection. Sadly, no.

I've tried to get warranty help from Coleman but have been on hold now for more than 15 minutes, their live chat goes offline in the early afternoon, and there is no indication of where "warranty service" can be had. It looks as if the only solution is to mail it to Wichita, KS and hope they don't refuse service. If they do, I'm out the shipping plus the $36 for the bed. Now I've got a big useless sack of PVC that will go into the waste stream.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Pleasantly Surprised, July 19, 2011
By NW Jeeper
My wife and I bought this air mattress 6 years ago and it's still going strong. The mattress gets used several times a year mostly for camping, but sometimes for guests. It's quite comfortable with the air mattress's 8"+ thickness.

The things that most impress me about this air mattress:

1. It's ability to hold air
2. It hasn't sprung a leak yet

My past experience with air mattresses were always let downs (pun intended) as they'd deflate enough after a short period of time so that by morning I'm sleeping on the ground. That and that it didn't take long for small pinhole leaks to develop at the seams or whereever to effectively render such mattresses trashed.

But the Coleman unit keeps sufficient air pressure for a good night's sleep. When camping I'll sometime "top it off" after two night's sleep. Sometimes I'll go the full 3-4 nights with out needing to inflate it. The double locking air valve works great and the material is a nice thick construction.

A nice bonus is Coleman's small battery powered inflator (purchased separately) that works brilliantly with this mattress's inflation valve.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  So Good So Far, July 15, 2011
By Collin'sMom
I was hesitant to order this bed based on a couple of reviews stating that the bed pictured wasn't what came in the order and issues with needing to buy Coleman's pump. I went for it anyway and the bed came just as pictured -with the "wrap and roll" storage, which is basically a sack that is attached to the end of the bed which lets you roll it up and store the bed - this is nice in my opinion and there are even directions on how to fold the bed properly to fit the storage sack. Also, I bought an air pump at target some time ago for pretty cheap that has different adapters on it and one of them worked just fine with the bed and inflated it in 3 minutes or less - I'm not exaggerating! I laid on the bed and it feels just fine. There are also instructions included saying that the bed will naturally lose air at first as the bed stretches. There is an "airtight guarantee" on the bed which hopefully I can call coleman about if there are any problems. So far...this bed seems great. My husband and I both weigh 275 pounds combined so I'll update after we use it for 10 days coming up on our camping trip. The quality does seem nice so far.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  1 person ONLY!, June 28, 2011
By kpnet
We went camping with this mattress and bought it because its price was nice and coleman is a pretty well known brand. It went flat within two hours of sleeping on it. I think this mattress would be good for 1 person weighing no more than 230lbs but you would have to inflate it every night you used it right before you were going to use it. Not recommended for 2 people.

I just purchased this 10 mins ago. I'm positive it will be good and we will be fine until our moving truck gets here in a week. Just a small wrinkle as the pump was recommended and purchased together, then I scrolled down and it's offered as a combo for $3 less. Please fix. Just a wrinkle I'm sure.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Better then expected, February 12, 2012
By Duladian
PRO

I bought this as a spare bed for visitors, but my roommate ended up sleeping on it for about 2 months as he was to lazy to get an actual bed. It only had to be re-pumped up twice in those two months, and it wasn't flat just not firm anymore. I've also pulled it out twice since then and used it.

Key note though is that I inflated it slowly. Unroll it let it stand for a few mins (usually 2-3 mins). Then inflate it to about half wait again, and finally finish it. This allows the material and seams to stretch and not tear.

CON

The dimples as almost all air mattress have are uncomfortable. You need a blanket or something thick to place over it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly what I ordered!, January 4, 2012
By Ambra (Chicago, IL USA)
This aero-bed is perfect! Not only did the shipper send it in less time than I had expected, but it was exactly what I was looking for. My boyfriend and I have started to do a lot more camping recently, and were sick and tired of sleeping on the hard ground. I will say, it would have been great it if it would have came with a pump, as we had to buy that separately, but still it is the best priced bed out there. We looked at multiple sporting good shops and even target, and every bed we saw was either double, sometimes triple the price of this one! My boyfriend is 6 foot 3 and almost 300 pounds, and the two of us slept on this comfortably with room to spare. It also packages up relatively easy, and you can tie it together for storage quickly. I highly recommend getting this bed, you will not find a better deal out there.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good quality but not very comfortable without padding, January 2, 2012
By Heloisa (Rio, Brazil)
I like the Coleman brand and this is my second Coleman inflatable mattress. I've tried it myself and also had guests use it.
We all found that the depressions in the mattress can be bothering. To work around this problem, I have purchased foam mattress pads and polyester-filled mattress protectors. This makes them almost as comfortable as a real bed. However it's not very portable if you are thinking about traveling with them, because of all the extra bulk to carry.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Waste of Money, Junk, January 24, 2012
By whipperin1 (Nomadic, From Sea to Shining Sea)
The first time I inflated this new Coleman mattress it leaked. The mattress was on a carpet and nothing punctured it. Coleman provides a small patch with the mattress. The patch is basically clear tape. I applied the patch and the mattress still leak because the tape did not hold a seal. The instructions from Coleman state to not return the mattress to the store where you purchased it but to return it to them and you get to pay the shipping. So, I wasted my money and I learned to never trust Coleman products again.
