5.0 out of 5 stars.  night and day, December 11, 2010
By real flier (U.S.A.)
If you are on the fence about buying cycling shoes for your spinning class, get off that fence and buy them. You don't need to shell out $300 on pro shoes, these shoes are fantastic. You can ride faster and transition from sitting to standing without worrying about the straps becoming loose or your foot flying off the pedal. You can also pull up on the pedal, as well as push down, which works more muscles. If you tried that with sneakers and foot straps, the straps would snap.
I'm a woman and these are guy's shoes, but these are sleek, they're stylish, and they've got an aggressive look to them that the women's shoes lack. They also have free 2 day shipping with my student Amazon account. They're also great because they are mountain bike shoes, and when you get off the bike, the tread is deep enough that you're not walking right on the metal clips (which you must buy separately) like you would be on road shoes. I wouldn't suggest taking a long hike in them because what makes them effective for cycling is that they're rigid, and so they're kind of awkward to walk very far in. But if you wanted to go walking in them, you could.
If you're going to buy online, I suggest only buying the shoes and then heading to a bike shop to purchase the clips and have them attached, unless you really know what you're doing. The guy at the bike shop has to do some measuring and he knows exactly the sort of clip you need. I also recommend getting half a size or so larger than you normally would. I'm a size 7.5 in women's so normally I would have gotten a size 39.5 euro, but having tried a few pairs of shoes on at the shop, I found that cycling shoes run a tad small. So when I found the style I wanted online, I went for the size 40.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfortable, Lightweight, and Cool Looking Shoe, March 3, 2011
By Ste7en2buy
The Pearl iZUMi MTB shoe is very comfortable and tighten up real well with three velcro staps. Hardware screws on easily and is adjustable. Dirt and mud easily comes off the vinyl with a damp rag. Rugged construction. This is my first pair of MTB shoes and I wasn't disapointed. I normally wear 10.5 size, but it felt small so I exchanged them for a 1/2 size larger and they seem to fit better with a single or double pair of socks. Great shoe, very happy with this buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A Great shoe at excellent price., August 17, 2011
By Eugene Blackwell (Cape Coral, FL United States)
Ok to begin with I have not used these shoes with my bike yet. I did however try them on with socks and walk around briefly around the house. First imperssions out of the box was these are good looking shoes, the quailty seems to be that compared to higher cost mtb shoes, the cleets are good size and easy to walk around in. They fit comfortable and felt great walking. The size I got was perfect, I have a wide foot and my feet dont feel squished inside. I have had sidi in the past and these compare great to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very comfortable, June 17, 2011
By mtbiker
I got these to replace my aging Specialized MTB shoes. They are a great replacement and work much better than the old shoes. If you use SPD cleats you will easily find a comfortable spot for long rides.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great shoe for the price!, December 13, 2011
By Joe S. Messina
Bought the Pearl Izumi Men's MTB cycling shoe the replace some well worn Sidis'. I was delightly supprised. They are more comfortable than my past shoes. The shoes feature a roomy toe box and are true to size. The Pearl Izumi shoes are used primarily on a tandem, but have also done some mountain biking. They are great for both! Being in Texas, it is nice to have a shoe that keeps your toes cool during the heat of summer.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Beware - These Run SMALL, December 23, 2011
By Linebacker--58 (The Great State of Texas)
I really like Pearl Izumi stuff in general based on several years of experience using their clothing and shoes. I have bought 2 previous pairs of Pearl Izumi road cycling shoes (one pair I wore out, the second pair as a replacement for them) which have served me quite well.

I ordered these in the same size (47) I've always used that fit me just fine. As soon as I tried them on and felt them jam my toes I knew that they had to go back. The second pair I had ordered for my brother-in-law were the same way. In fact, my size 47 shoes were even a bit too small for him and he's a size 46. Otherwise, they are a decent mid-level MTB shoe.

I'll buy Pearl Izumi stuff again for sure, just not their MTB shoes unless I can try them on first.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Shoes!, November 30, 2011
By 71gav
First thing I noticed, these are light. I was using Vittoria shoes with a carbon sole and these are noticably lighter. I have a high arch so they are a little baggy around my arch but this does not affect function or comfort. Not the stiffest shoes but I am very happy with them. Sizing is true I wear a 46 and these in 46 are perfect.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great deal!, February 12, 2012
By Jeremi
I was a little concerned with ordering shoes online about fit, etc...

Very happy with this purchase. I ordered the same size as my running shoe (1 -1.5 sizes larger than casual).

These do not fit as well as my Specialized from a local bike shop, but they fit very well. If you have been properly fitted for bike shoes, I advise getting the right inserts and I actually swap mine in and out of my road shoes with these mtb shoes.

Great quality and great price!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I dig these shoes!, April 29, 2012
By nmapson (Colorado Springs)
Like I said, I dig these shoes!
I grew up using pedal clips, and I was very hesitant to switch to clipless pedals. And yes, they take some getting used to if you are new at them, and some pedal adjustments will be necessary, I have grown to like the whole setup quite a bit!
I like these shoes a lot. THey look good, they are inexpensive compared to what you COULD be spending, they fit well, they are comfortable, and they are available in colors that just happen to match both my bikes!
These things clean up nicely too relatively speaking.
I just finished a rally race this morning, and took a huge fall in a gigantic puddle, or pond rather, and I ended up covered head to toe in red clay mud. Inside my shoes and everything. And while I'll still be cleaning muck out of my ears for the rest of the day, these shoes sprayed right off and look like they did before the dip.
Highly recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great biking shoe, April 14, 2012
By MJ
I really liked the quality of this shoe.

I wear size 9.5 usually which is 43mm, but I ordered 44 because some reviews mentioned the running small.

It was still tight fitting for me, I needed size 45 for this shoe to fit right.

But, very good quality anf style.

100% highly recommended
