 Good lock and cable, but no quick release bracket as advertised!, September 8, 2010

I am extremely pleased with the quality of the cable and lock/keys. They are very strong and make great for locking bikes and any other items.
But I am very disappointed with the items description. Above, it is said the the "Quick release mounting bracket" is included, but I did not receive mine along with the the cable/lock/keys. I hope it was only a accidental left-out, but I don't know.
I don't want to return the item (even without the bracket) because I like the quality of the cable. I recommend this to other people looking for a cable/lock for their bike. But be AWARE, that you might not get your Quick release mounting bracket as advertised.
If I get a contact from the seller, I'll update this review appropriately.

No mounting bracket. After trying three time to get the bracket, I still have not received one. The last time, I was assured that the replacement had the bracket, and that steps were being taken to solve this issue in the future. The third package arrived with no bracket. If you want a mounting bracket for your lock, order a different product. This is either deliberately misleading, or they are completely inept.

Its stuck every time after the 1st week. and I can not open it the last time, so I have to leave my bike to the locksmith. I will never use this brand lock again. Just don't buy it.

this is a very good price but the coil itself is inflexible and hard to wrap around for storage. it snaps at you while uncoiling and it could be quite dangerous. my main problem is with wrapping it around the handle or under the seat once i start my ride.

This lock works fine and looks hefty enough that a professional bike thief might pass it over in favor of a more easily-cut cable. It'll keep someone from running off with your bike while you're in the convenience store; it makes a nice extra visual deterrent in combination with secure U lock. If you're counting on this lock to secure a valuable bike outdoors for long periods of time or overnight, well, you'll learn an expensive lesson but at least you didn't spend too much on the lock.
Mine also serves as a wheelbarrow lock.

Lock works very good. Came with two keys. Has a slide cover for the lock hole so nothing gets in it. Awesome Price. I also belive it is 4 feet and that is plenty of length to get it around a light pole or under medium sized tree trunks. Thick cable too. You would have to have a the biggest set of bolt cutters to snap this thing quickly.

For $9.00, you can't beat this lock. It is sturdy and durable. Nothing you purchase for $9.00 is going to keep an expert thief from stealing whatever is being secured with it (and if you're purchasing something for $9.00 with that in mind you're an idiot). I use it to secure my new BBQ to the rod iron fence while I am upstairs having dinner in my loft while waiting for the BBQ to cool down after cooking (before I bring it up the freight elevator and throw the cover on it). It would need definite premeditation for a potential thief to be prepared to break or cut this lock. If nothing else it is an excellent deterrent. Hope someone finds this useful. Thanks for reading.
Bottom Line: Buy it, unless you're looking for something that is absolutely thief proof in which case you'll need to spend more money.

It looked like it was working until my bike was stolen yesterday. The outside part of the lock was apparently cut by a knife. The metal inside wasn't cut at all, yet they were still able to open the lock completely and now my new $130 bike that I had recently purchased is gone.

Got this about a month ago. They just smashed the plastic locking mechanism with a hammer or against the ground and made off with my bike. Sucks.
Guess I would recommend a sturdier lock, as this isn't very intimidating or capable of stopping someone breaking the plastic.

So far this lock works far better then other makers of the same style. I picked it because for me it was cheapest and it was just going to be on my secondary bike. it ended up being better then many other locks like it. Dose not rust as easily. lock works both ways in and out. Cable remains flexible and strong.

If you don't want to put up with the prospect of forgetting your combination, you need a key lock, and this item nicely marries lock and chain in a lightweight, flexible, very sturdy cable that can easily be deployed in a figure eight and will cinch around a lamppost or small tree if that's what's available to moor your bike to. It can also be wrapped around the handlebar stem, out of your way, while you're riding. The keys work with no problem and slip onto a carabiner or conventional ring. Highly recommended.

Bought this for my first ever bike for daily commute to college. In just first 2 weeks of semester, my bike gets stolen. I remember I had it locked and everything. I don't know how easy was it for the thief to break this. And college was the only place I left my bike locked with this lock, oh man!! should have known :(. Now i'm broke and need a bike, Damn it!

The previous comment got it right. The lock is really nice, and for the price you can't beat it. It doesn't come with the the mounting bracket like shown in the picture... but its still such a killer price you can't go wrong.

I had this less than a week before the plastic around one of my keys broke. I can't believe how poorly made this product was. It's a decent lock I suppose but it's not as cooperative as I would have desired.
