The Best Exercise Machine Ever For The Price, March 4, 2010
By V. Dibartolo (Brooklyn)

In all honesty im 6 Feet Tall and its fine i don't see any problem with it, i read the other review about "it's for midgets" and that not true. I have it on the highest seat setting and my knees still don't hit the bars or my chest lol. Its a great bike... i would only recommend getting the gel seat cover they recommend to get, i think its called "Cloud Nine" Other than that your good to go. I also read that it's a bit loud and that it makes it difficult to hear the TV at the same time your using the Bike. Well i have mine right in front of the TV and yes the bike makes some noise....but nothing to stress over, all you have to do is raise the volume a little and it's good, the bike isn't that loud. Now lets get to assembling part,oh wait i forgot to tell you there barely is any assembling to do, i put it together in 30 minutes and the instructions were good to me. The only thing i found tricky was putting on the left pedal, it screws on the opposite way of the right pedal. The only thing to put together is the Arm Bars, the 2 end bottom pieces, seat, pedals, the bar that connects the pedals to the arm bars and the timer/speed/calories. Come on people that's not a lot at all the base of the Bike is in one piece.Well it's a great bike to me and i hope this help you to make a better informed decision, I you ask me BUY IT NOW!!!

I bought this bike after I found out that I have diabeties and the Dr wanted me to start exercising. I am heavy and was afraid it would not work for me but it was fine. Works really good. Love big seat for my big butt. Me and my special needs son put together and it went well. Light enough to move. Electronics arent great but the rest we like.

I love it!, September 30, 2009
By Iris Ruiz

I love this bike!! It it is a great machine for the price. I was looking for something to add to my exercise routine that wouldn't cost too much just in case I didn't use it as much as in planned on using it...I use it everyday for at least 20-30 mins a session. The only hard part about this machine is assembling it...luckily my sister was around who can assemble anything. The bike however can be a little noisy but I keep it out in the back yard so I can enjoy an evening ride outdoors. If you are looking for a top quality machine I would not recommend this bike however I would recommend it for someone who is looking into getting into cycling and doesn't want to spend too much money...I find I have a better work out if I start out just using my legs and not using the handle bars for a while, then switch to using both my legs and handle bars, then switch back to using just my legs...it brings the heart rate up and down and I really break a sweat. The seat can be a little uncomfortable but I just placed a folded towel on it and it feels much better. If I keep up with this bike I plan on purchasing some top quality equipment...for now this is exactly what I wanted.

Great bike, but be wary of the seat, September 27, 2010
By chuck1231 (Atlanta, GA)

This exercise bike is a good value for the money. It is quite sturdy for an inexpensive bike, works well, and is easy to put together. I also like the handlebars, so my upper body can be getting a workout while I'm pedaling instead of just my legs. I got this bike because I needed to rehab my knee after having microfracture surgery. The only reason I can't give this bike 5 stars is because of the hardness of the seat. Even though I purchased the Sunlite Gel Bicycle Seat Cover (which Amazon suggested in the Frequently Purchased Together section of the bike's webpage) at the same time that I purchased the bike, it barely makes a difference. After 30 minutes of riding, I am literally forced to get off of the bike. I also put a thick towel on top of the Gel Seat Cover, and even with that extra measure, my butt and family jewels are rendered numb from the hardness of the seat. I probably should have done more research on seat covers instead of simply buying the one that Amazon suggested. If you buy this bike, instead of buying the Sunlite Gel Bicycle Seat Cover that Amazon suggests, do as much research on the seat covers as you do on the bike, and buy the cushiest one with the best customer reviews. I wish I would have done this originally, but I wanted to write this review so that others won't make the same mistake.

Faulty design, April 12, 2010
By MS (Orange CA)
|
|
I have been using an exercise bike with dual arms for more than ten years and it was time to get a new one. I decided for this bike because of its features, good reviews and price.
During the assembly, the bolt connecting one of the arms to the link bar broke (very poor quality). We had to get something correspondingly from a hard ware store.
However, the main flaw with the bike is the wrong design: the seat position in relation to pedals is anatomically incorrect, so one keeps sliding from the seat during biking. The seat is very hard (this can be fixed by a cushion). The bike is not designed for a taller person (not eough space for the knees). The computer is in a low position, so it is difficult to see the display during biking. The bike is o.k. for doing exercise, but it would probably not last long.
For all these reasons, I decided to spend a little more money for a different exercise bike and returned this bike.
Bottom line: I should have tried to find this bike in a store and test it out before buying it.

Not bad for the money, March 11, 2010
By Mitchell F. Rohrbach

|
I'm 5 foot 7 inches, normal build. This machine is fine for the price paid. It will do until I find another Airdyne. It has a nice swing ( feel) at the pedals. The resistance system works fine. On the somewhat downside are; The seat is too low at its highest setting. Your leg should ALMOST straighten out at the bottom of travel. NEVER fully straight. The swing arms (handle bars) are also much too low. And, the calorie meter is way off. I've remedied all of these with minimal handyman skills. I added a 10 inch long, 1" I.D., steel tube to each bar, ABOVE the slight bend over the pivot point. Bolt it via conventional means. At least 2-1/2" of this tube should go into the top and bottom of the sawed off handlebar. That raised the bars 5" which works great. A 2" spacer was added under the seat to give it more height along with a wide Gelcel seat pad. On the calories, while diregarding the decimal point, when the calorie reading is at three digits multiply the FIRST digit by two. For four digit readings, (below 1000), multiply the first TWO digits by two and for readings over 1000 multiply the first THREE digits by two. This provides a much more accurate reading using slight resistance at about 10 or 11 MPH. Again, it's well worth $139. Just did my first one hour nightly pedal. Hope this helps.

Fantastic Purchase, January 12, 2011
By Luis Davila
|

I never ever leave a review for anything so I really must like this bike. It has such a small footprint and is pretty easy to put together. I was looking in craigslist for a used airdyne but wasn't having much luck. I also thought that they were a little bulky so when I saw this bike I decided to take the plunge. Boy was it a good (lucky kind of?) decision.
I cap off my workout with 15 min on this bike and I'm sweating like a pig. Unless you are Andre the Giant this bike should be ok for average sized persons. I put on my hoodie and pump my arms and legs
I adjusted the tension so that I could work a little harder. This tires me out faster than the spin bike. I like training for speed and agility and this bike is what I wanted and at the perfect price. Are there better bikes out there? I don't know but I'm not spending huge money on a Schwinn when I know for a fact that his bike provides the same type of tension during my workout. FREAKIN' BEST PURCHASE I'VE MADE ON AMAZON.

Awesome, awesome, awesome!!!, January 14, 2011
By Kel

At first glance, I loved the bike... and the price. Then I read some of the reviews and was concerned with the fact that some people thought it was "made for midgets". I am 5'10" so this was the only reason I started looking elsewhere. After reading reviews of several other bikes, I kept coming back to this one, and I am glad I did.
Some noted it took hours to put together... I am no dummy, but sometimes the common sense stuff eludes me. However, my husband and I put the bike together in 40 minutes while watching a movie together, so our full focus wasn't on the bike. Went together easily - directions and pictures were easy to understand.
As for the midget thing... again I am 5'10" and because of the reviews saying this bike wasn't for tall people, my husband immediately put the seat on the highest setting. I could barely get on the bike and we ended up lowering the seat 2 holes to get the right fit. So, my assumption is that it would actually work for those taller than me.
The fan doesn't really do a ton of cooling - but 1) it's winter, so I don't care to be cooled, 2) the fan isn't REALLY for cooling - it's for virtually unlimited resistance - if you need a fan to cool you, buy a cheaper bike without the fan and splurge on a tower fan (see # 3) and 3) if I find it difficult to sweat while exercising (oh, the humanity!), I will get a tower/stand fan to put next to me while I exercise. Tension is easy to adjust with both the strap and the knob. The calories burned/distance/time display is easy enough to read... I still have young-ish eyes, but I am not going to stare at the thing while riding anyhow. The seat - not the most comfortable, but I've sat on worse (cold, hard bleachers anyone???) and added the Mongoose gel seat to my order for more cushion.
All in all, very pleased with the bike!!!

Nice exercise bike, October 3, 2010

Easy assembly, the digital display works great. The seat was pointing down a little and you would slide down it, so I put some flat washers on the front mounting bolt to lift it up and that helped.

Like the Body Rider, December 18, 2009
By Geoff (Colorado USA)

I found this bike to be a great value for the dollar. I am using the Body Rider on those cold snow days that I cant get to the club or ride my bicycle.
The bike took me about an hour an a half to put together and I found the instructions to be very easy. I would recommend this bike to all that need a good workout in the comfort of their own home.

Built for Midgets?, November 2, 2009
By Tim Sullivan (Leicester, MA)
|
|
The price was right. That's about all that was right about this bike. I am short, 5'6" barely and with the seat as high as it goes my knees are still bent when the pedals are fully extended. It reminds me of when I was an older child trying to ride those little pedal cars when I was just too big. The body of the bike sits very low to the ground while the seat is high, making it a little unsteady.I have difficulty getting onto the seat because it is so high yet once on it my knees do not fully extend on the pedals. The construction does not seem very well built. Though all the bolts are tightened, the handles have too much wiggle room don't seem terribly secure. I was looking for a less expensive bike because I bought a Body Flex XFR 1000 which was perfect in terms of seating and balance but it only lasted about 18 months before the fan wheel cracked. Much to my chagrin I realized only after I purcheased this bike that it was made by the same manufacturer. Shame on me for not checking more carefully. Well, it is less expensive than the XFR, much less comfortable and if the XFR which seemed to be built much more solidly than this one, then I am going to guess this one does not last the year. Oh, and the seat is about as uncomfortable as it gets. Nothing to recommend here.

can not recommend, October 10, 2010
By shorty
|
|
Ordered bike, assembled it, and rode for 15 minutes when the right handlebar
assembly came undone - bolt had worked itself loose. Bike tipped over, I fell
off and sprained my left foot. Put bike back together - rode for another 10 minutes, stopped and checked - the bolt had worked itself loose again. Also,
the seat on this bike slopes forward - the whole time I was riding, I felt like
I was falling forward - had to constantly re-adjust myself on the seat. My
verdict - not well designed, uncomfortable to ride. I sent it back for a
refund, and had to eat about $36 dollars in shipping charges. Went to store and
bought used Schwinn Airdyne for $300. End of story.

Not Bad for The Price., September 11, 2010

It does the job, assembly is quite strenuous especially if you have to fix it alone. Some of the parts were defective - Nuts, Bolts, Main Body. I had to fix them before the assembly which cost me an hour. Overall, a good buy for the price (Probably because it's made in China).

Fantastic for the price, May 13, 2011
By Brian Coppola
|
|
Not a long assembly process, so that's good. I like the features of the electronic screen, telling me how many calories I've burnt and everything else...
Gotta say, my only negative feeling is regarding the comfort. You totally need to get used to this bike. The pedals are STRAIGHT down under the seat. This is just odd. Look (google image search if you'd like) at any other bike in the history of bikes. The pedals are down diagonally from the seat; making them roughly a few inches forward from the seat. This bike puts them literally right under you. Weird. And a little uncomfortable at first.
The seat is slanted forward too. Uncomfortable. I put a cushion on it so I wasn't constantly readjusting back.
Other then that it's nice so far, but it's only been a day. We shall see.
**Added- Anyone else having the speed readout insanely high? If I just casually pedal, it's reading over 20mph. Something's wrong...
***Updated- Company replaced monitor right away (FAST), finding it was faulty. Happy with that!

Very pleased, April 12, 2011

My wife and I are very pleased with this exercise bike. It was real easy to assemble, took less than an hour. It's quiet. I workout on it for 20mins a night while watching the NFL network, alot of sweating going on. I lost 4lbs in the first week I got this. Great price, you can't loose with this. Make sure you buy a padded seat with this.

Body Rider Fan Bike, February 18, 2011
By andromedagale
|
|
I ordered this bike because I have bad knees which limits my ability to do stair climbers and such. The bike takes the pressure off of the knees, which takes care of the issue of pain as well as preventing further damage to the knee.
This bike has an uncomfortable seat so make sure you get a gel cover to go with it. The seat has three bolts that hold it onto a triangular plate so just getting a new seat for a regular bike which has a pipe fitting won't cut it.
The bike itself is ok. Kind of noisy if you're wanting to work out during evening hours when others are asleep. Easy to adjust tension. Handle bars don't do much for an upper body workout because you can only use either the pedals for resistance to the lower OR you can use the handles for resistance to the upper body. I use hand weights instead. You do need to keep an eye on the bolts for the pedals and connections to the handle bars as they loosen after a short while. This bike is not my favorite piece of equipment, but it will do on a tight budget.

Great buy, December 19, 2009
By Abesha Set DC, USA (Washington, DC, US)

I live in a one bedroom condo in downtown DC where space is at a preimum and no room for bulky exersise machines. This bike is lightweight and compact but delivers a great workout and the moving handle bars add upper body exercise. Unfortunately the seat is very hard and even with a padded seat cover gets pretty uncomfortable after about forty five minutes. It is also very noisy so it is difficult to watch TV while exercising. Overall, I give it two thumbs up.

More than I expected, April 10, 2011
By MacLover (Florida)
|
|
Having once again confronted and acknowledged my need for a regular exercise program, I was convinced by a friend that an exercise bike offered the best combination of convenience and effectiveness. In the past, a treadmill in the bedroom proved to be best suited as a place to hang laundry and ironing on its way to the closet. A gym membership got off to a decent start, but it became easier and easier to find reasons to put off going because of the inconvenience and time lost by having to leave home, and the incessant din of TV sets. The cost factor also took its toll. After researching available bikes, the Body Rider Fan Bike seemed to offer the most bang for the buck, $160 with free 2-day shipping at Amazon prime, but I had pretty modest expectations regarding quality and durability. My friend (who has one of the $600 jobs) warned me that it would probably fall apart soon.
I've only had the bike a few days, so this is a very preliminary review, but it was impressive right out of the box. The frame is heavy duty aluminum, with great looking welds where needed. While not a handyman, I have three children and seven grandchildren, which makes me a salty veteran of "Some Assembly Required" projects. This was about the easiest to assemble of any such thing I've taken on. All the hardware is labeled, and the nuts, bolts and washers are on a sheet of cardboard, segregated into individual plastic blisters and labeled by name and number, to be opened and used in proper order. The necessary tools are also on the blister sheet. The directions are complete, well organized, well illustrated, and obviously written by someone whose American English is his/her first language.
Once assembled, everything worked right away. It confirmed my impression of quality engineering, construction, and finish, and it's hard to see anything on it likely to fail. Now to see if I can stay motivated enough to try to wear it out.

This is an expensive exercise bike that does the job. Set up was straight forward. Bike works fine. It's quite uncomfortable and had to order the padded seat. It helped but it's still a bit uncomfortable. It's fine for the money.

The fan on the bike doesn't do much at all and the seat is VERY uncomfortable, but I think that it was well worth what I paid for it. Very good size for an apartment and easy to assemble. It isn't as noisy as the other reviews claim and sometimes the bolts loosen, but all in all- good stuff.

great little bike for the price, May 7, 2010

I was very pleased with how sturdy and fun this bike turned out to be. (Be sure and retighten pedal area screws after a few break-in uses, then its perfect) It also does not take up nearly the room of other similar equipment. It is being used a couple of times per week and seems to be holding up great.

Terrific, August 8, 2011
By Diana
|
|
I am a female first of all and I am only saying this because of a COUPLE REVIEWS ABOUT THE DIFFICULTY PUTTING IT TOGETHER ISN'T TRUE. Its easy to put together about 45 mins or so. Someone else mentioned washers on front seat to level the seat you don't want to do that because your suppose to lean forward a tad because thats how we are made, You ever ride a bike sitting straight up, of course not, and you add the arm movements and sitting straight up is pure stupid so put it together like it says. I am a big person, my dad purchased this bike for me because I complained of how much weight I gained and wanted one of these bikes. It supports me fine at 290, I am 5 foot 3 so the seat can be adjusted way high or way low. I like this bike, perhaps the next review will be after loosing a hundred.
the only problem I had is with amazon ............ they recommended buying that bicycle seat for nearly 30 dollars and my dad bought it, there is absolutly no way to mount a regular bike seat to this. The stem is much thicker and the seat on the bike has 3 screws which fit perfectly to the stem of the bike which has a triangle welded on it with holes that fit these three screws. They really should NOT recommend this seat, its stupid. I thought about cutting the triangle off and then could mount it like a regular bike seat but you can't its way too thick the pole is and if you replace the pole then you would run into problems adjusting the seat heigth so DO NOT buy the extra seat save ur money.

Great deal for the dough, January 30, 2011
By mattm9y (Michigan USA)
|
|
I wanted a an exercise bike that also included the upper body workout. I liked the fan style bike I had used at a gym, so I went looking with all that in mind. Wow, is that a hard list to fill! Schwinn and.........this. But am I happy with this one.
It went together easy enough, and had the tools to do so included with it. The quality and looks are better than I expected for the price. It has a plastic cover to hide most of the mechanics, and also the seat post. The petals are very nicely weighted to stay oriented correctly, with a good strap to hold your feet on. The tension adjustment is simple and effective. And the digital readout covers all the details (although I doubt the calorie burning count is accurate). I bought a gel seat cover, so I never tried the seat by itself. But with the cover, I found the comfort factor just fine. It's not an overstuffed couch, but I see no reason to complain.
I have been using it for a month now, and it has performed flawlessly. It makes a noise on odd occasions, but it goes away, and nothing is coming loose yet. I highly recommend it, and especially for apartment use, or anywhere space is at a premium, as it doesn't have a huge footprint.

This is a good bike for the price that you pay. Like some of the other reviews, the seat is pretty high, even on the lowest notch. I'm a short person, and it is kind of a hassle to have to reach pretty far down to reach the screen to see your progress. If the seat went down further, then I would give it 5 stars, but, other than that, I'm pretty satisfied.

For the money, bike is ok.... But if you want a good solid bike, go with the Schwinn fan bike. This was what I was first looking for and thought I would save some money by buying this... NOT even close nor anywhere near the comfort level or quality. Which for the price I should had know. Not sure what I was thinking...I wasn't I guess, trying to save some $$ I guess.. Not worth the money in my opinion. things started falling off no sooner than I put it together.

Same as others - seat post too short - knee extension problem, January 1, 2012
By Al2012

I'm a 5'8" tall male. Can't conceive all the good reviews are valid. After assembly it took me one ride to see that the seat couldn't be adjusted high enough.
Did they make a batch with shorter seat posts and are they dumping them on the market now? I'll try what someone else said, find welder to add some more length to the seat post. Again, it's inconceivable to me that anyone over 5'2" could give this a decent review.

Good Exercise Bike, November 6, 2011
By colormechaos
|
|
Let me start by saying I was extremely hesitant to order any exercise equipment that I had to assemble myself. The most complicated thing I've ever put together was a bookshelf. Surprisingly though, the instructions were clear and I had no problems putting this bike together. The really complicated parts came pre-assembled, so it only took me about an hour and a half. As I had set aside almost four hours, I was very pleased.
Once together I was excited to try it out. I rode for about five minutes when the first problem became apparent. The seat is hard as rock! I have a big butt, and so having a big seat seemed to be a good idea. But the seat is so hard that after just a few minutes it made it impossible to be comfortable! I do like the fact you can adjust the height of the seat, and that becomes a wonderful feature when everyone in the house wants to try this bike, since our heights range from 5'5" to 6'3".
I do not like the way you adjust the tension on this bike. The knob doesn't seem to do much. It's also in a very inconvenient place on the bike. The second day someone knocked their knee into it and broke a piece that held the tension knob onto the bike. It still sits in the same place, it just sits a bit askew. It doesn't cause any problems, so I really don't mind.
The small moniter that comes with the bike is battery powered, and rather simple. It shows Time, Calories Burned, Distance, and Scans. I prefer to just leave it on Scan so it goes through them all. Multiple people use the bike daily, and since we've gotten it we haven't had to switch the batteries for the monitor yet.
The main thing I would advise with this bike is after every four uses or so to tighten up all the nuts and bolts. We noticed after a few uses they get a little loose.
All in all, this is a simple bike. Despite a couple minor problems, I enjoy using it and I would recommend this for anyone looking for a good exercise bike with a great price. Totally worth it.

Disappointed, October 22, 2011
By J. Lardin (Atlanta, GA)
|
|
I ordered this inexpensive exercise bike to use on rainy or cold winter days when I can't ride a regular bike. I had been searching for a used Schwinn Airdyne, since, alas, I had given away my old faithful Airdyne years ago with 5000+ miles on it. I decided to go ahead and get one of these Body Riders because of the good reviews and price. I've been riding bikes for decades. I read all the reviews on Amazon and was satisfied that the bike would fit me, as their were several reviews written by taller people who said the bike fit them. I am about 5'5'. Unfortunately I ignored the many reviews that criticized the length of the seat stem and the inadequate leg extension. After putting it together, I was somewhat impressed with the quality of the parts, especially given the very reasonable price. Then I got on for a first "spin." The seat post is at least two or three inches too short. I cannot get anywhere near an adequate leg extension. My knees were bent and so uncomfortably stressed that I couldn't use the bike. As a lifelong cyclist, I know how hard it is on your knees and hip joints to be unable to have correct extension of your legs throughout the peddling motion.
So I called the phone number on the owner's manual and spoke to a customer service lady who said she'd never heard my complaint before, and that I should send an email to "the department that handles that." I asked her if she ever read the Amazon reviews. She said "no, the other department handles that." So I sent an email outlining the problem, suggesting they use a 2 inch longer seat post, and offering to pay for a longer seat post if they had one available. And predictably, given modern business practice, have not received any response or acknowledgement whatsoever. The lady I spoke with suggested that I return the bike to Amazon. I am unwilling to do that because it took me at least three hours to unpack and assemble it, and I don't relish spending another three hours disassembling it and trying to solve the puzzle of how to fit it back into the damaged styrofoam packing materials and cramming it back into the box. Anyhow, the bottom line is that the bike would be fine if I could just lay hands on a proper length seat post.
There is no easy method to add height to the seat where it attaches, since it has a non-standard seat attachment. So I took the seat post to a local machine shop (I live out in the country,) and the owner said he would weld some more length onto it and drill some more holes for free, just as a favor, but that it might take a few weeks before he could get to it. So now I am waiting to see how the free welding job turns out, but am also again searching for an old-timey (70's or 80's) rock-solid, almost unbreakable, everlasting, Schwinn Airdyne, built (back then) in the good old U.S.A.
Additional comments 11-8-2011: I tried out the extended seat post that came back from the machine shop. It works great and now I am able to ride in relative comfort. Since I only paid $114 for the bike (the price now seems to have gone up $145), and I got the additional length welded onto the seat post for free, I am happy.

Excellent Deal, August 14, 2011
By Kbearncubs (San Diego)

This is an excellent deal for the price. If you are not looking for a super fancy exercise bike, which by the way, would be hard to move around, this is a great deal. It doesn't feel cheap, it does what it is supposed to and will give you a great workout. Let's face it, bikes are not comfortable, so quit your complaining. I personally find it comfortable enough and I am 5ft 9 with long legs. Yep, my butt gets sore after 40 minutes, but it should. This is an awesome deal for someone who doesn't want to spend hundreds of dollars on equipment and may be new at exercising. Don't hesitate. Set up is easy too! Don't get sucked into electronics and gadgets you don't need on your equipment! Love, love, love this bike!

It works, but is not that functional for anyone that isn't super short, April 19, 2011
By E.C.
|
|
This bike is affordable as far as air bikes go. However, i am only 5'8..which is not tall at all and the pedals are really short for me. I max out the seat and barely ride with maximum stride. It was easy to build, but the fact that i can't really use it efficiently really bothers me. Some other reviewers have said its fine for shorter riders, but i think this is really only suitable for people 5'4 and under. Ideally a person at 5 ft 4 inches should be able to ride on the highest seat level. After building it, i thought it was a child's bike.

Does the job, keep an eye on the screws., March 21, 2011
By J. Quinn (Idaho)
|
|
I got this bike last year for an excellent price, and it works fairly well. Be aware that the screws come loose. One in particular I need to tighten daily, but given the money I saved, I'm willing to take the time. So keep the enclosed tools near the bike. Also, the calorie counter is way off, claiming over 1200 calories burned per hour, about double what it should be, but I think the miles are correct. Interestingly the fan only blows in reverse, which I don't use much as the screws come loose even faster.

Does the job, February 15, 2011
By M.D (Los Angeles, CA USA)
|
|
This is a great little exercise bike. It does the job for a small price. It is compact, lightweight, works like a charm.
PRO:
Easy assembly (approximately 1 hour with the tools that come with the bike)
Easy to move around (built in wheels)
Variable resistance
upper body and leg workout
Simple electronics: Elapsed time, mileage, calories, scan (alternate between time, calories, mileage)
Relatively inexpensive
CON:
I have a 32 inch inseam and the bikes compactness does not allow for full leg extension at the maximum seat height. I measured the distance from the top of the seat to the pedal to be approximately 29 inches.
Seat is hard. If you plan to exercise for more than 10 minutes get a seat cover

Good deal for the money. It gives me all the info I want on the digital readout, and I really like the fact that I can adjust the tension on it. The tension control was not available on many of the other similar types of bikes.

horrible, horrible, horrible, August 1, 2011
By jls

I am a man of average height (about 5'9) and even when I put the seat on the highest possible setting the bike was way too small for me. There is no way a person of my average height can use this bike. After using for no more than 10 minutes I had to stop because my knees were killing me due to the fact they stayed in a constant bent postion. I find it hard to believe the manufacture knowing full well this issue existed still brought the product to market as such. I guess they figured they would find enough suckers to purchase it then just throw it in a corner when it became evident that it was unusable due to it's lack of size. Well I returned mine and hopefully you don't make the same mistake I did by purchasing it!

Nice Bike, January 2, 2012
By Sharon Morgan (Memphis, TN United States)
|
|
After reading the other reviews I was a little concerned about ordering this bike, but so far the only issue I have with it is that the seat is uncomfortable. More specifically, it is like sitting on a rock! I am currently shopping for a replacement seat, but otherwise, I love it. Being 5'1", I don't have an issue with the height that several other people have mentioned and the bike was fairly easy to put together.

Get What You Pay For..., January 6, 2012
By Anodyne
|
|
Cheap, but works for what we need. I'm not sure if this was due to the packaging, but several parts of the plastic body covering were cracked and broken (I ended up taking it off and exposing the metal frame and chain; the body is plastic crap), to the extent that the two pieces wouldn't connect properly. Not a total hassle to assemble, but some of the nuts and bolts are very difficult to screw (the directions recommend using WD-40 or Vaseline, but I didn't). Make sure you read the directions carefully. Also, there was initially a loud snapping/clicking sound inside the the bike (in the mechanics connected to the pedals) whenever you turned the pedal past a full circle. It went away after an hour, and haven't heard it since, but who knows what's screwed up in there. Still working though.
The function is alright. You can slightly adjust the tension with a dial or tighten the strap around the fan/wheel. The electronic meter can keep time and estimate distance, but I don't find that necessary. Just use it for quick workouts. It's great that you don't have to plug it in, and the overall sound is like a loud standing fan. Noisy (especially going fast) but tolerable. You will definitely want a seat cover of some kind - the included seat is a one-way ticket to sore ass city.
Overall, the bike is cheap, but works. Uncomplicated, straightforward, and gives a decent leg/arm workout with the moving handlebars. Haven't had it for more than a few days, so I'll try to update this after time. Wouldn't be surprised if it broke in 6 months of moderate-heavy use, but we'll see.

Great for the price, January 5, 2012
By A user (California, USA)
|
|
This is a very decent bike for $85 (price has gone up a bit in the weeks since). Picked it up for price as well as the handles that provide upper body work out. It's solidly built and the belt works well for tension adjustment. The knob seems to make a difference on the finer adjustment, but it's very subtle, so you will be getting off the bike every time you want to change tension. Not a big deal for me. Assembly took about 2 hours (including unpacking/etc..) and I actually used the cheap tools they ship with the bike, so with a decent set of tools it should go even faster. The instructions are surprisingly good and all parts and hardware are well identified. I'm 5'8" and the motion/travel of the bike is fine for me with the bike seat set at 2nd to highest position, but I can see a 6' person having some trouble with this bike. Docked a star for the common complain on the product: the seat is HARD. 20 min on it and you will be getting off not because you are tired, but because you have to stand up. Currently doing research on good saddle covers that are big enough for the seat.
One small complain is related to delivery. I had people in my house waiting on the product and the driver did not even bother to ring the door. Eventually my relative got tired of waiting and checked the door and found the bike on the porch. Hoping Amazon can ask UPS to be a bit more mindful the next time. I don't think anyone would have stolen the bike (big and heavy) but I wonder what would have happened to a smaller package that is easier to just walk away with.

The bike is not meant for normal size people., December 31, 2011
By Ron

|
The bike was easy to assemble and works great...IF YOU ARE 4'6" TALL! This thing is miniture and the seat is rock hard. My wife is average height and she looks silly riding it. I'm 6' and my legs stay up in my chest. It's made wrong and we just got ripped off. Now am I gonna take it apart and fit everything back in the box and send it to Amazon? No, because after you build it, it's impossible to take apart and fit it back in the box. This will go on craigslist. Nice work Amazon. Doubt I'll trust you ever again for exercise equipment unless I can go see it locally.

Here is the data, decide for yourself: 27 1/4 inches from top of pedal in the lowest position to the top of the seat at it's highest position. For me this is way too small, I wouldn't recommend. And the seat is not comfortable.

Body Rider Fan Bike, January 20, 2012
By Jess0548
|
|
I bought this bike due to the great price. For the money paid, I'm happy with my purchase. Although as others have stated, this bike seems to be built for smaller people. I'm a 5'9" female with long legs, the seat is at the highest setting and I am comfortable with the pedals. But in order to reach the handlebars, to get my full workout, I'm bending over at angle that bothers my lower back. I need about 2 more inches on the handlebars in order to get the full workout from this bike without added discomfort. I can still use the bike without the handle bars, but am a bit disappointed that I'm not getting my full calorie burn. The bike was very easy to put together, and the display works great. I recommend springing for the seat cushion as the seat is very hard.

Good value, easy assembly., May 9, 2011
By pelliott4 (Detroit, MI USA)

I just received this the other day and found it very easy to assemble. It is well made and a very good value for the price. The Exploded Diagram contained in the manual almost made my head explode until I realized that it was a total schematic of the item including all of the preassembled pieces. The assembly instructions were easy to follow and the packaging of the parts for assembly made it very easy to only unpack what you needed at the time and leave the rest in the package. It took me about 2.5 hours to put it together by myself, taking my time and reading the directions. I found the height perfect. Will probably order the seat cover that others have mentioned.

Loose screws, October 15, 2011
By Richard Underwood
|
|
For those folk who find that certain screws come loose during use, have you tried using a dab of Loctite? For those of you who aren't familiar with the product, it can be found in the big box stores like Home Depot and Lowes and in most auto parts stores. It prevents nuts and screws from working loose from vibration or shock but still allows disassembly with normal hand tools should you ever want to take the screw out at a later date. You'll want the Loctite Blue 242 Threadlocker. All you need is a little drop of Threadlocker on the screw before screwing it into place.
[...]
I don't own this exercise machine (and I have no connection to Loctite but I have used this product for years). I welcome all the reviews as I am researching buying this type of machine.

Good Exercise Bike, November 6, 2011
By troubledchaos
|
|

Display is broken!, October 18, 2011
By Noel (St. Louis, MO)
|
|
I don't know if others have experienced this problem, but I assembled the bike and on the last step installed the batteries in the monitor and attached it to the bike via the wire. Well, it doesn't work. Great that this was the last step on assembly because now I spent all the time putting it together, so it's not like I can just ship it back without disassembling and trying to shove it all back in the box. I am so disappointed. What is the point if the display doesn't work so you can't track the calories you're burning or your distance or time or anything? I have contacted both company and Amazon to try to find a solution that doesn't involve me having to take the bike apart. You pay over $130 on something, you'd expect it to at least work on the first day. Other than that the bike seems like it would be good. It's just I got it to track my calories burned too! I hope there is some solution...

Good basic bike, September 25, 2011
By Tracey Weiss
|
|
The Body Rider Fan Bike has a nice, comfy seat and works well. The drawbacks are that the seat does not really adjust high enough for someone over 5 feet 6 inches. I have it on the highest slot and I'm 5 feet 8 inches and it's a little low for me. Also, it would be better if the moving handlebars came a little closer in to the rider. While the seat is a little short, the handlebars are a bit long and make it hard to hold onto sometimes. But, in general, it's a good product.

Fan Bike?, September 22, 2011
By peteza
|
|
Ok, I got this bike recently and have a couple concerns.
First let me say that for the price it is a good bike. Some reviews said it was only for short people but I am 6 feet tall and it works fine for me. Some other reviews said it was hard to put together, but I did it in about 30 minutes with no problems. For the most part I have no complaints.
The one thing I didnt like was the way it advertised as a fan bike. With the other fan bikes I have used the resistance is from the fan. In this bike the resistance is a strap that go's around the wheel and when you tighten it, it makes the resistance. The front wheel is vented, but as far as I can tell there is no resistance created by the fan.
In the end I will say this:
It is not the quality of a bike you will find in a gym, but for the price it is a good purchase.

Not for tall people (ie: over 5ft 4in), September 8, 2011
By KatieStone
|
|
I loved the price, and it wasn't too hard to set up. Delivery was in less than a week, but unlike some reviews posted here, this bike seat cannot go tall enough for me. I'm 5 feet 7 and 3/4 inches tall. I don't have particularly long legs, but the highest the seat goes seems to be more appropriate for someone about 3 inches or more shorter than me. Still, I added some pillows to the very uncomfortable seat, and am in process of creating a way to make the seat itself taller by adding permanent padding.
Otherwise, it works great and gives a fine, fairly quiet workout.

Body Rider Fan Bike, August 30, 2011
By Go Gamecocks (Columbia, SC USA)
|
|
I've had this bike for about a month... use it three or four times a week. I'm 6 feet tall and 185 lbs. I can see what some users mean about the bike being too small, but I find it to be perfectly useable. Maybe the seat should adjust a little higher and slide back a few inches behind the petals, but it works as it is. I ride for 30 minutes and the electronic readout says I have gone 7 miles and burned 140 calories on average. I set the tension 6 half turns from max and I can tell you that it's a good workout. I actually have the seat set one notch below max height... still playing with this adjustment.
Quality is OK for the money. Frame seems pretty sturdy but the other parts maybe not so much. I think it will last a fairly long time the way I use it, but it's certainly not professional quality. It works for what I want. If you're going to use it for hours everyday I would invest in something more rugged. The reviewers who give 1 or 2 stars are being awful harsh. After all they did only spend around $150.
The seat is very hard and uncomfortable. After 10 minutes my butt hurt bad. I now have two seat pads and it's much better, but after 30 minutes it still starts to get uncomfortable.
Whoever assembled it in 30 minutes must be a wizard. I could barely get it unpacked in that time. I would say more like two hours. Not hard, but it takes a while. I don't find it to be all that loud. I watch TV while I'm on it, maybe turn volume up a bit, but don't have a problem here.
Overall, I would say for $150, if you plan to use it for 30 minutes or so 3 or 4 times a week it works well. You certainly get a good workout. Just don't expect professional quality. Make sure you get a good seat pad...

Great Bargain!, March 19, 2011
By madzdaman

This is a very good value stationary exercise cycle for the price. It is not an overly comfortable cadillac, the seat is very hard and a seat cushin is highly recommended. But it is easy to assemble with good instructions, and everything fits. The ride is a bit stiff due to the hard seat and minimal leg and arm length adjustments. But it does the job of burning calories with reasonable comfort and excellent price. Highly recommended if you want to purchase a good, reliable, basic exercise cycle at low cost. Great value!

Exactly what I was looking for., March 16, 2011

I've been looking for a fan bike for a while, and got this one for a great price, so I was instantly happy. I was able to put it together, by myself, in a little over half an hour (would have been faster, but the kids were "helping" me). It works great, easy to figure out. It works well for me (5'1") and my husband (6'1"). The only down side was that the seat was about as soft as a rock. I had to purchase a new one, but that's to be expected anytime you buy a bike of any kind. All in all, we're very happy with it.

Not as good as the other reviews mentions.
1. Package arrived with damaged parts, that is the right side panel has broken and screws were not holding the panel properly.
2. Seat is too hard, you can not sit more than 5 min on it and your bum will start paining
3. Too much vibration, specially during half cycle paddle

Plenty big enough, February 23, 2011

Put this together alone and with a sprained wrist with no problem. It's plenty big enough for my 5'11" self. Seat is wide enough and slightly tilted up in front so it's easy to pedal and stay on the bike without holding onto the moving handlebars. Impressively sturdy for such a low price. Small footprint and light enough to move with very little effort.

so far, so good! I took my last bike for granted, and didn't treat it very well, so after many years of never oiling it, it finally made its last complaint. I ride every day. This bike was very easy to put together (not that it was quick) but the directions were good, the parts well marked and I cold do it myself. Have been riding it 5 miles every day, with no problems. I dk about the fan part, but maybe I will notice that when the weather improves.

The body rider fan is easy to use!, January 28, 2011
By BrwnBlondie
|
|
I was surprised the bike arrived so quick! I thought it would take a while but it came fully equipped, no missing parts or problems, my 18-yr-old younger brother set it all up for me in a few hours. Its easy to use the monitor shows calories, speed, time. etc so it helps me keep track also once I stop pedaling to take a break for a few minutes the monitor doesn't reset itself once i start again so i can keep track of how many calories i burned all together throughout the day. The bike only makes a low sound from the fan, nothing an increase in the TV volume won't fix. It really is a full body work out with the arm motion and all, you actually don't feel much of the work out while your on the bike but once you step off you can feel your whole body buzzing. The only downfall is the seat can get uncomfortable if you're working out for a while but that's any bike I guess, this one is better than most other's i've tried. I really enjoy using the bike and its so easy I barely notice I'm working out!

Winter is tough here in MN when it comes to wanting to do things out of doors. I don't skate or ski and am in my 50s. After achilles tendon surgery 3 years ago, I am careful about what I do. However, I was gaining weight and needed to do something!! This bike is a lifesaver. I read comments about it being "noisy". It isn't really. Yes, I do wish the handle bars were alittle taller, however, I found that after working with the bike for a couple of weeks that it really is ok! I love this thing! I am getting more toned and my stamina has increased. I am able to fall asleep easier. The GEL sear is a MUST however because, yes, your butt will otherwise hurt.
God bless the person who made this thing......something I can afford,.

Good buy, January 24, 2011
By Helene

I just got done putting the bike together (and got a work out doing so!) and it wasn't hard at all. If you follow the easy instructions step by step it will take you under an hour to put the bike together.
I tried the calorie counter and it will make me think twice about putting mayonnaise on my sandwich hehe ..
I am 5"7 and the bike is high enough for me.
The only thing is that it makes a little bit of noise, I thought it'd be quieter than that.

So Frustrating, December 18, 2011
By Scott P
|
|
I used to have a bike just like this that I really liked ($80 11 yrs ago) and through moving I had to part with it. So, now with winter setting in, I wanted my bike back to try to do some sweating indoors, in the comfort of my own home. After the excitement in finding this, I waited patiently for the package to arrive. When it did, I had to put it together, not a problem, Im a carpenter. Two days later, my first ride. Immediately the handle starts clicking and gets worse. I take it apart and put it together again, same thing. Repeat a couple more times, then the other handle is clicking, gets worse, take apart, put back together. After 8 times it never fixes. It's so distracting that I can't work out on it. It's so frustrating that I order a product and it's rickety. Now since my gf threw away the box already, I have to go through more inconvenience to send the p.o.s. back. Very frustrating, and this is the second product from Amazon in the past week I need to send back. Being a new member this doens't leave me with good thoughts. Im quite p.o'ed about this.

It's worth the money, May 7, 2011
By John Wright (Occupied Mexico)
|
|
It is worth the money. Not the best out there but it will do. As others have said, the seat is the worst part, it is hard as a rock. But the bike works well, just recheck the tightness of the nuts and bolts periodically. Assembly is not that bad, about an hour and your time may vary. Everything was there, no missing parts and the nuts, washers, and bolts are all laid out with labeling that makes identification of everything a snap. I have not had it that long so I can't vouch for the longevity. Seeing it was made in China does make me worry about that. I picked this one because the other bikes available to me had fixed handlebars. This one gives you an upper body workout along with the pedals. And no, the noise level is not that bad. The only disappointment was that it was called a fan bike but there is no airflow toward the rider---just in the opposite direction. All in all I am well pleased with it, I just hope it lasts.

Recommendation: Do not purchase Sunlite C9 Cruiser Gel Saddle with bike, January 14, 2012
By Tahoch3
|
|
Like the bike...however strongly suggest you do not purchase the recommended Sunlite C9 Cruiser Gel Saddle. It will not install without purchasing a custom made seat adaptor from Cloud 9. The post on this bike has a plate (with 3 holes) welded onto it making it impossible to use the post clamp on the seat to attach it. I am so disappointed as it clearly shows the seat and this bike sold together on Amazon. If by any chance anyone else purchased both and somehow made it work...PLEASE post it!

Definitely worth the price., January 3, 2012

I have had my Body Rider Fan Bike for a few weeks now, and it has worked out wonderful. With the right resistance, you will be feeling the workout in as little as 5 minutes. It's not terribly loud either. Hearing the TV or iPod over this bike compared to other stationary bikes is much, much easier. The one major complaint would definitely be the seat. It's very hard, and even with a cover, it can still be uncomfortable after long periods of riding.

A bike for older folks that want to stay fit, December 30, 2011
By Wulf Berg (Suffolk, VA United States)
|

This bike is great for older folks. You can sit and exercise your arms and legs at the same time. Good quality. A little hard to assemble, but everything fitted fine. Just take your time and read the instructions. They are very clear. I think you will not be disappointed.

I BOUGHT THIS BIKE BECAUSE OF THE REVIEWS AND I MUST SAY THAT IT IS A PRETTY GOOD BECAUSE ITS STURDY AND ACTUALLY HEAVIER THAN I THOUGHT WHICH MAKES IT STABLE. THE ASSEMBLY WAS SIMPLE SIMPLE SIMPLE. ITS AMAZING WHAT YOU CAN SO WHEN YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTION LOLOL. THE SEAT IS A LITTLE ROUGH SO I PUT A SEAT COVER ON IT. THE TENSION BAN WORKS REALLY GOOD. I HAVE IT IN MY BEDROOM AND CYCLE WHILE WATCHING MY GOOFY SHOWS.

I love this bike!, February 10, 2012
By Sammie
|
|
I was very pleased with the cost and then when I received the bike, I was very impressed on how well it was packaged and the ease of the instructions and the way the parts were, each on labeled with explicit instructions on how to assemble the bike. I am female and I was able to put it together by myself with no problem whatsoever. It's very comfortable to ride. I love how quiet it is.. my last bike was so loud I had to turn the TV or music up to hear it. I love that it's rather compact since my place isn't very big. The seat is a bit hard but it would be no big deal to put a small pillow on it before you sit if it bothers you. I haven't felt the need to do that yet and at a later time, I can order a more comfortable seat if I want to. The seat would definitely not keep me from ordering this bike again, given the price and quality for the money. I am very happy with my purchase!

Short pedals, too low of a seat, loud wheel, January 31, 2012
By Agustin Gaytan
|
|
I purchased the Body Rider Fan Bike after reading good reviews about it in Amazon. However, I am not happy with the bike. The pedals are very short and the seat at it's highest level still too short. I am 5.8 The bike will be perfect for a person that is only about 5 feet tall. I have to put a thick folded towel on the seat to extend my legs and have an okay ride. The other thing that is not good is the wheel. It is irregular, it rides smoothly for a while and then starts to make lots of noise, then smooth again, then noise. Not relaxing at all. I wish I had saved the box to return it. At the same time it's such a big thing it really makes it complicated to do so. I like the fact that I can work my arms. That is the main reason I bought this bike. I recommend this type of bike. I do not recommend this one however.

Body Rider Fan Bike, January 27, 2012
By Mailladyfmb (SW FL)
|
|
I received the bike very quickly after ordering. I took me about a half hour to put it together. Very easy. Comes with tool that fits all the nuts and bolts. At first it seemed like the pedals were positioned wrong (too far back) but it's been a long time since I"ve been on a bike. the thing I liked most is that it doesn't take up a lot of room and only weighs about 40 lbs so it is easy to move around. I have itin my living room and everyone that comes over gets on the bike and tries it out and says "I need to get one of these).

Get what you pay for, January 26, 2012
By TA
|

For $99 plus $36 for shipping you can't expect to much. I bought this one to replace one I had for 10 years that finally broke beyond repair. The new one is of less quality. The seat has no padding at all. Luckily my old seat fit. The seat height would not go high enough for me (I'm 6"1) so I drilled another hole in it. Help some but could be higher. It's a lot louder than my old one and the so called fan does not cool at all. The readout display is so small you can hardly read it. Again I got luck and was able to use the one from my old bike that has a very large readout. If I had it to do over again I would go with the more expensive bike.

Nice Bike, January 24, 2012
By lemontree (Georgia)

This is the first fan bike I have ever had gives you a very good work out,it replaces another type of bike I had which broke down after
may years of use. I did worry about the seat after reading negative things bout it but I have no problems with it. The only problem I had was attaching the monitor to the main frame. But BFS was very helpful in solving that problem when I e-mailed them.

Good Bike, January 23, 2012
By Elizabeth (King of Prussia, PA)
|
|
I paid $128 nearly a year ago for this bike (Feb. 2011). It works well, but we did have a problem constructing it. A raised "lip" that should have been located where the handlebars attach to the peddle rod with a screw was not there (area where a screw attaches the handlebars was flat, rather than a raised surface). We used an extra washer to make up for the missing lip. Not a biggie, but quality control could have been better. Also, I guess as it is with any mechanical item, you have to check and tighten the screws every so often, but this isn't a hugh problem. Overall, very satisfied.

It was easy to assemble and it functions properly. The only drawback is that the seat mounting or stand is a bit too short . It could stand to be about 4 to 6 inches longer, other than that it's a good deal.

I have had this for a month and it would have been a good deal for twice the price. It is a bit noisy but nothing a volume control can't fix, and it is pretty solid as well. I read a lot about the seat being bad, but for me it was ok... i'm only 130lb though. All in all a great buy!Body Rider Fan Bike

Good workout equipment!, September 26, 2011
By Devie

I decided to buy this because my days of sitting in front of the tv while eating popcorn is over.
I put this in front of my tv and stream netflix as I work out. I love it. It took me awhile to assemble it but it was pretty easy considering that I have never once assembled anything in my life before and let the men in my life do it for me.
Overall this product is great. The seat CAN be a little uncomfortable but it's honestly no big deal. Not a big enough deal for me to take out a star. It does what it's supposed to. Plus the whole seat thing can easily be fixed with a couch pillow. I just improvised instead of spending another 10 dollars on a seat.
I love this product and I look forward to losing weight and keeping it off!

Works for purposes intended, June 1, 2011
By Kristi (ESTES PARK, CO, US)
|

Fairly easy to assemble in an adequate amount of time and works well for purposes intended. The one thing I might design differently is the seat extension. I for comfortablility reasons would like to extend the seat higher by two inches or so but am unable to because I have it extended as far as it will go. Other than that it's not bad at all.

I love it! Put it together very easily in about an hour. Very light weight and easy to move around. I drag it out to the deck on sunny days :)
Not loud at all, does not feel cheap and I enjoy riding it. Fore sure a good buy for the price and a good product.
I absolutely recommend this to anyone looking to get in shape.
The seat is not as bad as other reviews I have read. It does the job.

BEWARE HEIGHT OF BIKE, January 26, 2012
By Patrick Kennedy
|
|
I didn't read the negative reviews and I am sorry for that!
Stationary bikes require near full extension of the leg while pedaling.
The distance from the seat to the furthest position of the pedal given minimum and maximum seat heights is ~22" - ~29".
The height of the end user is therefore supposed to be ~4ft - ~5'3".
This is an adolescent's stationary bike, not an adult's bike.
Returning the bike now for a grown-up's version.

Bad Design, January 15, 2012
By Disgruntled_user
|
|
I can only give this item one star because I have yet to use it in the two weeks of owning it. While the assembly instructions are not at all difficult to follow, I had serious issues with this item's use of nylon nuts. It is nearly impossible to tighten them to a safe level for use. I suspect that other reviews that say the "pedals keep falling off" etc simply went ahead and used this item without truly threading each nylon nut on its respective bolt. While I have one nearly tightened enough, the fact that there is a manufacturer's warning that they loosen every 30 days or so makes me want to throw this heap of cheap aluminum in the dumpster. I am interested in knowing how the higher raters were able to assemble this product with ease. I do not have a weak grip, and am fairly adept at using tools. It's simply too frustrating to navigate all the corners the manufacturer's cut while designing this bike.
