5.0 out of 5 stars.  The one all purpose, all season bike lube--plus a bit of how to apply lube to your drivechain., August 1, 2007
By John T. (Astoria, Queens, New York City)
I've tried wax based lubes, wet, dry, winter, you name it, and always end up coming back to teflon dry lube--specifically this one.

The only other lube I've tried that I would maybe use again is Cross-Country lube of the same brand, and only for really harsh weather conditions, because it stays on the chain a lot longer in a major downpour--so I don't have to relube a wet chain or suffer the fact that other lubes will wash out. Even in those circumstances though, the teflon lube holds up rather well.

Winter lubes don't thicken as easily at low temperatures, but teflon doesn't get the least bit sticky anyway.

Totally clean, and it does a nice job of flushing grime out of the individual links when applied.

To apply this lube most of the time, shift your chain to the largest chainring in the front and smallest cog in the back, run your chain through a rag to get the bulk of the grit and grime off (or use Lysol kitchen degreaser wet wipes), then apply one drop per link--starting and ending at the 'end pin' which is the one that looks different from the rest.

I typically don't lube the cogs and don't recommend anyone do so. It's a giant waste and it overlubes the drivechain. Instead, apply one drop to each link, then run the bike through all its gears so it gets a touch of lube on each tooth, just to prevent rusting and excess wear.

If you use the spray on version of this or any lube, apply, wait 20 minutes, then wipe off the excess by running the chain through a rag.

I typically apply lube every 100 kilometers (or 62 miles). I don't do it during rides, just try to remember to do it sometime in the proximity of that distance.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Avoid this lube, May 14, 2009
By J. Roth (Charlotte, NC)
Avoid this lube if there is any chance of rain. Even though the label indicates this lube is for wet and dry conditions, the bike will be a greasy black graphite mess if you get caught in a rain shower. I recently was caught in a brief rain shower on my road bike. The water causes the lube to get slung off the chain and onto anything in its path including rear wheel, brakes, frame, seat and the back of your jersey. Brakes stopped working and had to disassemble and clean the bike after this ride. After the cleaning, I switched to Pro Gold Prolink lube. This stuff is the best lube I have used.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Attracts road grit, August 11, 2010
By Kevin McMurtrie (Silicon Valley, CA USA)
This lube resembles Teflon gels sold at hardware stores but with a solvent to improve application. It starts out as a thin liquid then dries to a paste that remains slippery under high pressure. As others have mentioned, it is not very water resistant. It cleans off the bicycle, my hands, and my clothing without difficulty.

I've tried this on a few summer rides and it attracts road grit very quickly. It doesn't matter whether I leave it a little wet or spend several minutes drying the chain with a rag. Within 10 miles the links are starting to click and grind. At 60 miles the chain is dropping sticky little tar balls and links are occasionally sticking. The chain has to be cleaned before it's back to normal; reapplication doesn't fix it.

I don't know why this product is working for others but not for me. My chain doesn't have a lot of miles on it but I may retest with a new chain anyways to see if it makes a difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty Decent Lube, May 21, 2011
By Logan Vonseggern
So as soon as I got this I cleaned my chain and applied one drop at every link, then I let it dry and went for a ride. Really great for the dusty singletrack I was going down. On the way back I got caught in a huge downpour. At that point I was remembering the one review that talked about how quickly the rain will destroy this lube. I rode two miles in some really heavy rain to get back. By the time I got home I could tell it had worn off some, but nothing near as catastrophic as the other review. No problem with brakes.

So I have some confidence as far as riding through rain with this stuff for a relatively short amount of time (10 miles would have been an issue). I mostly ride dusty singletrack though. Using a wet lube that would hold up in the rain would result in me having to clean the chain after every ride due to dust build up. So even if I have to clean the chain and re-apply after every big downpour, this lube still saves me a ton of cleaning. I definitely wouldn't call this lube ready for "All riding conditions" as the bottle says though, so minus a star for that.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works well, stops my chain problems for a while, April 3, 2010
By CtrlAltDlt (New York, NY)
I'm a newbie when it comes to bike maintenance. I recently bought a decent bike and was determined to take care of it. The bike had some shifting issues and the chain would slip every few rotations. The chain itself had a few joints that were stuck and causing the slips. By manually flexing them and just adding this lube (before I had a chain tool) I managed to stop the chain problems and have a nice smooth ride. After a few rides through heavy rain the chain started slipping again. A full cleaning and reapplication of this lube and the chain has performed well for a few weeks now even with the bad chain.

No noticeable build-up of dirt etc. on the chain yet after 100 or so miles, although when I did the initial cleaning I notice theres a lot of black stuff coming off the chain, likely residue of the teflon and metal but I can't be sure. I wipe off the excess lube after I'm done applying this so the bike stays fairly clean.

So far, I have no complaints about this product. It does what its meant for. I'm going to take care of this bike and it should serve me well for a long time.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Amazon not being honest!, January 21, 2011
By Bob Miller
I haven't tested the lubricant but found this lubricant at the Finish Line website is $7.49 not $89.88. You are wasting $2.63 26% instead of saving $79.76 (89%) as Amazon claims. This is such a gross error it's not even funny.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works fine, leaves a bit of residue over time, December 2, 2010
By DiscoverYellow (Washington, D.C.)
I like it and keep on using. Keep in mind it is the "dry" weather option, and there is a "wet" option too out there. (Whatever it means.)
Four stars rating because I am not an expert in mechanical engineering and do not know if it is the best product out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I've been using this for 4 years, January 5, 2009
By JJ (Texas)
I really like this stuff...the previous review did a great job on how to lube ones drive train.

I decided to get this for my girlfriend's dad after working on his bike over the weekend. it is a road bike and he originally used oil and the chain was so nasty and full of gunk and oil gunk. I decided to get him this because it works well and does not gunk up like oil.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Same as LBS or REI, May 16, 2010
By Visit my Amazon Profile page! (Bay Area, CA)
Nothing much to say. This is the lube you get at your LBS or REI. Amazon had a better price for me. It works for me better than the wax based chain lubes which I have tried. I switched to a wax based lube for a while, but I heard noises from the chain which vanished when I went back to this stuff. I've used it for years and years and will likely just stay with it forever now.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good lube, February 10, 2011
By Cory G (Worcester,MA USA)
Good lubricant to put on, I put it on my new blue schwinn sidewinder mtn bike. It works well. Put on just enough, not too much, too much is when its dripping down off the chain etc.. once you applied be sure wipe off excess again, not wiping off too much, when you put finger to the chain and get a little grease on it you know its good. Overall I would use this lube again

2.0 out of 5 stars.  should buy in a local shop, May 30, 2011
By F. Yang
found the same product in a local bike shop, price is only $7.99. The more important thing is you have chance to read the whole product descriptions on the bottle. For a rusty chain, the WET one is better.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Chain Lube Works Better Than Expected, March 3, 2011
By Ste7en2buy
Great quality product that does exactly as advertised. No more messy oil dripping everywhere. No excess wiping required. Just shake product before opening and apply. Dries instantly leaving a thin film protecting the chain and sprockets. Worth the few extra dollars over the wet or greasy lubricants.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Review on Finishline, December 11, 2010
By nallakonar
Had heard a lot about Finishline when i finally decided to give it a shot. Was frankly confused which one of finishline products to choose.. They come in so many varieties, Red, Green etc. Ended up picking up this Dry teflon lube which is supposedly for all riding conditions. Haven't tested it on rain yet though. On two sunday's did back to back 200+ kms (213, 238 kms) and it worked really well.
Earlier i used Singer sewing machine oil which is low viscosity but it attracts lot of grime. The price difference is defintely justified.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great for trail biking, December 26, 2010
By Eriocaulon (United States)
I bike a lot through the Cuyahoga Valley National Park. Most of the trails are dusty gravel which tend to gunk up an oiled chain. This Teflon lubricant works well. It is not 100% effective but does a great job and no doubt will extend the life of the chain. It works as advertised--drip in on the chain and let it dry.

Works well on all moving parts of my bike. I use it mostly on my front suspension to loosen it up. Works great, best place to get it, cheaper than everywhere else.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great lube, September 18, 2010
By S. Heuser (Central FL)
Great lube for off road riding. Doesn't attract much dirt and doesn't seem to gum up like others. I am pretty much able to keep my chain clean by using a hose to spray out my chain after each ride and then immediately put a bead of this down the chain as I pedal the crank backwards.

I ride my bike around 20 miles a day and after applying this lube, it has become super smooth and I am sure it has decreased the friction between the metal parts as well. I like it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  good stuff, well-priced, October 15, 2011
By elmopop lover (baltimore)
Dry lube is said to be ideal for dusty rather than wet or muddy conditions, but this stuff seems to work well in many settings. I dunked my chain during 2 Patapsco River crossing and several stream crossings the other day, and experienced no squeaks, sticky links, chainsuck, etc. during the course of a 3 hour ride. I've been using this lube for that last 5 years, and that's pretty much how it works.

I wipe-lube-wipe my chain after every MTB ride, and likewise any time my road bike chain gets wet or looks dirty, so I'm not sure how long it really lasts. Slop it on too heavily, I've found, and it will get messy like any other lube. Finally, it's a few bucks cheaper than a number of other lubes it performs as well or better than.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Finish Line DRY Teflon Bike Lube, July 12, 2011
By Road Rash
I have purchased this brand of Teflon lubricant from Bicycle shops for many years. Although I usually use the "liquid" or "spray on" type which tends to attract dirt and grime especially in the warmer months, I find this to be a little cleaner. It goes on as a paste then dries so it is not as messy. It does not seem to stay on as well as the "liquid" type when it is exposed to water. But overall I would say that it is a good compromise.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Gross road grit magnet, December 18, 2011
By Review
This works as a lubricant but is terrible in every other way.

I've finally finished my bottle of this stuff and since using this regularly my chain looks disgusting. I ride only on nicely paved roads when it is completely dry. I used it in the right way: I lubed my chain, wiped off the excess and used a park tool chain cleaner and between applications. Despite that, my chain is full of grit and it's so disgusting I've just decided to replace it while switching to a new lube.

This lube is like a road grit magnet. It resists coming off when using a chain cleaner and I can't for the life of me get it to give up the grit. It's disgusting and comes off on everything I touch. I can't work on my bike without gloves because touching any part of my drive chain leaves a smear of black lube+grit mixture. It has coated my cogs in a gross film of grit and lube. Everything I touch in my drive chain is coated in this disgusting stuff. I'm extremely annoyed and when my new lube and chain comes I'm going to have to clean my entire drive train so this disgusting lube+grit mixture doesn't infect my new chain as well.

I never knew it was possible to hate a lubricant but I hate this lubricant and what is has done to my chain and drive train.

DO NOT MAKE THE MISTAKE I DID. AVOID THIS LUBE AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HEADACHE.

I bought this chain lube out of the few available online because it was highly scored on amazon reviews and it had amazon prime enabled. I was disappointed to find out that even tho I purchased it on Monday June 13 I wont be receiving it until Tuesday June 21 using Amazon's 2 day shipping option.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love this stuff!, March 17, 2012
By Sherri863 (Central Florida)
I've always used good ole WD-40 while growing up. Now I have quality bikes and this lube works great for keeping dirt out of you chain. Dirt will wear out a chain and regular lube is like a magnet for dirt. I was skeptical at first but now I only wished I had purchased a bigger container and a chain cleaner. Will order the bigger size when I run out. I already have the Park Tool CM-5 Cyclone Chain Cleaner on the way!
