Great platform pedals, July 15, 2010
By Wayne Ellyson (Columbus, OH USA)

If you have wide feet, these pedals are probably what you are looking for. I was worried that they might be too big and bulky, but they aren't. My feet are pretty wide, and these pedals seem to be just right. The pins really do hold your shoes in place too. And they're inexpensive. The only con I can think of is they seem pretty heavy, but really, if you're looking at this type of pedal, what's a few grams here and there.
Install was easy (they're pedals). There were even instructions on the packaging, which was nice. The instructions did refer to one pedal having an "R" on it somewhere, and the other an "L". I didn't see these letters on them anywhere, but I could tell by looking at the threads which was which. It was good of them to include instructions, so that people know which one is reverse threaded.
In all, a very nice platform pedal, especially for the price.

DB Bigfoot Pedals passed the Test, August 16, 2010
By Wilfredo Perez (San Lorenzo, California United States)

Since I have an inexpensive Mountain Bike I decided not to spend too much for pedals, but wanted a decent set that would do the job. I got these a few weeks ago and installed them onto my older Diamondback Hardtail and promptly went out on an 8 mile dirt trail that has good all around terrain for a good workout. I wanted to see how these pedals would do under those conditions. The truth of the matter is that I only remembered having the new pedals on my bike after I returned home from my ride. I give these pedals a very good rating since I did not even have to think about them when I was riding, and there were some steep uphills and lots of rocky parts and the pedals handled without any problems. For the price, I would not hesitate to get another set of these.

Single Best Investment For My Bike!, June 30, 2011
By Stuntcruiser
|
|
I wear a size 13EE. I always hated having to pedal with my toes, but I didn't want to waste money on a set of pedals that wouldn't work. I am so glad that I made this purchase. These are the single best investment I have ever made for my bike.
I wouldn't hesitate to buy another set!

Moderate Traction, December 19, 2010
By jetmonkey (New Haven, CT United States)

Got these for single track mountain biking as a cheap set for a spare bike. With the right shoes and the right platform pedal, you can have a serious alternative to clipless pedals. These, pedals, unfortunately don't quite do the trick. Traction and contact just not that great. Three reasons are my guess: 1.) the non replaceable, non threaded pegs just aren't as effective in providing grip? (as opposed to the threaded, replaceable pegs). 2.) Although it's hard to tell in the pics, the pedals aren't machined flat. They have a warp and a wave in the platform, by design it appears, just enough to make an irregular platform. 3.) A glossy slick finish on the pedal. Not sure about BMX but for MTB, skip these and maybe check out the Diamondback Sound Pedal (Black Alloy, 9/16 - Inch, Pack of 2) if ordering on Amazon or better yet spend a little bit more on a Wellgo WAM pedal from an online bike supply outlet.

Much better, October 2, 2010
By J. Signorino (Austin, TX)

Been riding the narrow stock pedals for two months and a lot of riding. Put the Bigfoot on and did the trails with my hardtail and could immediately see the difference in improvement. MUCH more secure feeling compared to the stock.
I'm fighting using any kind of clip or harness and this seems to be the answer so far. I don't want special bike shoes to wear and I don't want to have to learn to release my foot from the pedal or how to put it back on; just give me a flat pedal since I don't race or need to use the bike in its most efficient way possible.

GREAT PEDALS!, December 29, 2011
By SkunkApeMan (Miami)

I got these for a hybrid street bike (inexpensive front suspension aluminum mountain bike). I have wide feet and wanted an aluminum pedal with good traction. So far they're great! They're heavier than the "3.88 ounces as a pair" they're advertised to weigh, but I'm not complaining. The grip is fantastic compared to the plastic stock mountain bike pedals I had before, and they're very comfortable for my wide feet (I don't feel like my feet are always slipping off like I did with the stock pedals). I like the black paint job. It's not too shiny but it's not flat either, I guess you would call it a semi-gloss. All in all I am very happy with the pedals and would definitely recommend to a friend!
UPDATE: I commute 22 miles round trip to work 5 days a week. I've put over 1000 miles on these pedals and they are still in great shape and work flawlessly!

By labones (Walled lake, MI)

I have a size 13W shoe on a Recumbent Trike and feet would slide inboard with my ankles hitting the arm. With this wide foot print and the nobs my feet stay in place. Don't have to wrap socks around my ankles any more. Arrived within the time expressed

Big upgrade over plastic Avenir pedals, March 31, 2011
By old buddy lope (germany)

So i bought a Diamondback Menona and it came with some plastic pedals which felt slippery. I had a really bad accident when I was a kid where my cheap plastic pedal broke and I took a really bad fall. Ever since plastic pedals have given me a sense of insecurity. These pedals are very solid. They definitely set a big platform for your feet. I ride to work in regular shoes and on Saturdays I ride for fun in my running shoes which are pretty wide. With either shoe the little metal spokes which stick up grip my shoe so well that I don't have to readjust my foot constantly as I did with the slick plastic pedals. I rode those for about 2 weeks and have had these pedals now for almost a month. I am very happy with them. The only thing that I couldn't tell from the picture here on amazon was that they are indeed shiny. They look like a matte black in the picture but I know diamondback's sound pedals are flat so that's something to think about. Once I put them on my bike though they're not so bad despite being shiny

No slip pedals increase power., September 17, 2011
By DeadHeadCycler

This daily bicyclist has found new muscles to enhance the power stroke. These pedals grip my shoes firmly and stops my feet from slipping off especially while climbing an incline. Mounted 9/16" on new Schwinn Avenue. Looking for strapless clips to purchase. I bought some but the do not fit. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Great Everything, March 16, 2012
By sfwill

These pedals are excellent if you're looking for a damn good mountain bike pedal with great traction, and almost no slip without wasting a ton of money on special clip pedals and special clip shoes, these are the way to go. only negative I could say is that the bearings may be a little sticky, but, lets be honest, it doesn't make any difference. The customer service from this company was IMPECCABLE. I ordered the wrong size axle and didn't want to wait for Amazon to send me a return label (no offence to Amazon) and order another pair, and so I contacted the company and agreed to do a direct exchange with the pedals. They responded to all of my emails quickly, and kept me in touch with when they received the old pedals and sent the new ones. Really glad to see a company that still cares about how they treat their customers.

feet stay planted over anything!, March 10, 2012
By jamesfd

|
I've had the chance to take these on two different rides since i got them and they work great! I put these on my 2006 giant reign 3 and i never slide off my pedals any more. when you go off the big drops your feet stay planted on and on the cross country trails you never have any problems over roots or anything. I wear a 13W shoe and my feet fit fine. The only thing that i could say bad is that your legs are bound to get cut from them but your going to get that from any mountain bike pedal. Over all Awesome pedal and cant beat the Price!

Big Foot Pedals, February 15, 2012

This product is well worth the cost. A far superior product to most plastic pedals that are standard equipment. Nice pedal for the money and a great upgrade if you have plastic pedals which will brake.

Good pedals, but hate the pegs., August 29, 2011
By pen

I got these pedals because I wanted to try metal pedasls for a change and I have wide feet so I thought I would give the "bigfoots" a try. All in all they are good pedals and ride smooth, but the pegs were biting into my sandals too much and I couldn't adjust my foot position easily while riding. As it turns out, the pegs are stuck in and non- replaceable so I ended up taking them out with a vice and a hammer. Now I can move my feet around and I love these pedals. Just beware that you wll need to put some work into them if you don't like the pegs.

Love these pedals!, April 21, 2011
By Keems

Just installed them on my Diamondback Response XE and they feel great, nice and wide for my big feet. Installation was easy, but I recommend have a pair of needle nose pliers to get that last twist (since the actually peddle gets too close to the crank). But other that that, I love the grip on them, and seem sturdy, I will update once I feel I have fully tested them on the trail.

Great Grip for a Great Price!, May 12, 2012
By Amazon Junkie (Washington DC)
|
|
Due to my monsterous-sized feet, I decided to drop the stock pedals on my mountain bike in hopes of finding a new set that could accommodate the beasts without breaking the bank. I already own a Diamondback bike and have been more then content with its quality, and decided to take a chance on this pedal set. Glad I did because not only do they feel more solid than those cheap-o plastic pedals that came stock, but they are large enough and comfortable to handle my size 13s...
