5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for my Pomeranian, September 17, 2011
By JKLineberry (Richmond, VA)
Took Romeo for our first Mommy/Doggy bike ride today.

He didn't like the basket until we started moving, the he just kicked back and let the "breeze" go through his hair. Maybe when mommy gets in a little better shape, we'll be able to work up to the "wind" in his hair!

My basket came with the main attachment strap that goes in the bottom of the basket in addition to 2 smaller adjustable straps that attach to rings at the top on either side. I suppose they could be used for an additional dog (if very light dogs) or for keys or maybe just to add a little more security to your pup.

I chose to leave to top down for now until Romeo and I both get used to it.

I did not get a picture of us on the road today, but I am using the basket with a 7lb. Pomeranian and have it attached to a Huffy Cranbrook Cruiser (mint green/light tan). Both are pictured.

Overall the basket felt very sturdy (not the one pictured on the bike, we returned that one) and Romeo was very happy perched in the middle looking at the big world ahead even if mommy wasn't that steady. It was a bit of a shaky ride for us, but that was due to my tremors and the basket actually seemed less shaky than I felt. I also liked that the basket came with a one year warranty.

Jerry is going to make some adjustments to the seat tomorrow so hopefully our next ride will be much smoother.

Assembly was fairly simple once you figured out what direction everything needed to go in on the bike. Instructions are non existent (not even a one sheet picture) so you may want to check out the website for the instructions.

We purchased from amazon for $59.99 and the Sunshade Cover was included, however I saw this on other sites for a comparable price that did not include the cover so be sure and check.

Alternatively, if you would prefer a little more security for your pup or want to bring another pet with you (such as a cat, rabbit, teacup pig, etc...) you can also get a wire basket top for this basket that gives you a little more security that the open sided top. Amazon carries the optional top for under $20 Solvit 69996 Wire Safety Cage for Wicker Bicycle Basket.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Basket for your Dog, October 18, 2009
By Wilycat29
The part that goes around the handle bars was very difficult for me to attach, but once that was done it was easy to assemble. It is very sturdy and much safter than the other one I purchased for my dog. My little dog really enjoys riding around our neighborhood in this basket.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just me, my puppy, and my bike!, September 28, 2010
By Millie
This is absolutely worth every penny! My 6 lb Pomeranian Winnie absolutely loves going for bike rides with me. She will literally go up to my bike and put her front paws on the frame and stare at me. Before I decided to purchase this basket, Winnie was having to make due with a small black metal basket that was not meant for dogs at all. I had to tie her leash to my handlebars (for safety of course!) and place a small blanket in the basket to make it somewhat comfortable for her. Then when I searched for "pet, bicycle, basket" on Google, Solvit Tagalong Wicker Bicycle Basket was the first thing that popped up in the shopping search.
Before installing it on the bicycle, I placed the basket on the floor and coaxed Winnie into it. She loves it! I left her in there to get comfy and adjusted and found that she can move around and lay down comfortably. However, when I placed the canopy on the basket her ears went back a bit and I could tell she was a bit more timid and maybe even nervous. I will probably gradually introduce the canopy if I plan on ever using it just so I don't make her anxious.
The installation is a breeze and is very sturdy. I am extremely careful with Winnie and am much like a frantic mother when it comes to making sure that she is safe on these bike rides, so I would not praise something that I did not 1000% trust that it would keep my puppy safe.
Bottom line, yes it is maybe more than you were planning on spending on a bicycle basket for your dog, BUT in the long run it will pay off because it is a good quality product that is constructed well and has your pet's best interest at hand.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  pet bike basket, June 14, 2010
By T. HOLLAND (san jose, california)
This dog basket is cute but not as sturdy as I would have expected. My dog is 11 lbs and I've had to come up with a way to secure her better. The basket seems to want to bend forward on its little catch. I'm thinking the weight limit should probably be more like 8-9 lbs.

The top cover is more cosmetic and not very helpful, Still the cutest basket around!!! I get lots of compliments 8)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Product, July 2, 2010

I can't believe the durability of this product. It is most certainly worth every penny. I have a Yorkie and she loves to ride in the basket. It is not cumbersome or awkward and works wonderfully on my mountain bike. Thank you for such a fun product!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly What I was Looking For, April 7, 2011
By snowboardergirl (Minneapolis, MN)
After doing a lot of research on dog bike baskets, I finally decided on this one. The Pet Gear and Snoozer Buddy Baskets were the other two I had been researching, and while I like that they doubled as bags/car seats, they just didn't seem as sturdy for a bike. I'm very happy with my decision - the Solvit wicker basket feels so sturdy and the mounting system is very secure. I have a 10 lb miniature dachshund, and she fits in this just perfect! The tether keeps her secured down, but also allows her some room to shift around if she wants to get a different view. To my complete surprise, she did not try to move around a lot or jump out the first time out in this! After a few minutes of getting used to it, she seemed pretty content taking everything in and just enjoying the ride. I'm so happy with this product - exactly what I was looking for, so I could spend a summer out enjoying my bike without the guilt of leaving my dog at home. Overall, the assembly was pretty easy - it was a little tricky getting the mounting brackets adjusted to fit my bike, but after some trial and error, I got it set-up just right. Also, unlike other bike baskets I read reviews on, this one does not shift around on the handle bars at all!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  My dog LOVES this!!, September 28, 2010
By tonyag9
I was concerned it would take awhile for my little yorkie/chi mix who is 5.5 pounds to get used to this and planned on just going down the street from my house the first time out. Was I ever wrong!! He INSTANTLY loved this!! We were able to go a few miles the first time it was used and he actually CRIED when we got back home because he wanted to go longer! He gets SO excited now when I put the water bottle in the holder because then he knows we are going for a bike ride. He spins around and dances he is so happy to go! It is very sturdy and was really easy to attach to the bike. This was a great purchase and I'm so happy I got it! Pixel and I will enjoy many more rides to come! :)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Maddie loves riding in her basket, September 25, 2010
By Wendy (Federal Way, WA)
My dog Maddie is a 10-11 lb Cavapoo. She fits well into this basket and it's very sturdy. The belt clips onto her harness. The belt is a little long so I shortened it. I haven't tried the sun shade yet but I plan to. I put the whole thing together myself in less then 10 minutes. It's very easy to put the basket on the attachment and also removes quickly. I looked all over for a safe and attractive basket for my new Electra Townie Bike and found it here. I highly recommend this basket.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Awesome Pet Basket!!, August 13, 2011
By Teddy
I have been researching for over a month for a dog bike basket for my 11 pound Havanese. I originally ordered the Wald 957, but after a month of waiting Amazon canceled the order (no longer available). I was disappointed because I lost a good portion of the Michigan Summer. I was very pleased when the Solvit Silver Tagalong Deluxe Pet Bike basket arrived 6 days from ordering (free shipping)!! The basket was very easy to install. It took ten minutes at most. The basket is very sturdy if installed correctly. I wonder if the person that had an issue with it, properly installed the bottom bracket and safety straps. The basket would drop to the tire if these were not installed. The pockets and water bottle holder is perfect. Teddy loved the ride! He sat comfortably looking around smelling the air. The sides are a perfect height to make him feel secure and the tie down strap (to his harness) makes me feel secure that he will not jump out. I have not tried the sun shade yet, but it installs very easily and can store in the bottom of the basket. It is also nice that the bracket system allows you to easily remove the basket when not taking your dog. It also states that you can purchase an additional bracket for another bike and switch bikes. I am in the process of trying to find one. There is one issue with the mounting system and it related to my bike. There is a support bracket that sits against the front on the bike frame. My mountain bike has a front brake cable that runs down the front of the frame. I had to push the cable to the side which pushes the front brakes on a little. I plan to fix it by putting the cable through a hole in the support. It is not a big deal, but wanted to make people aware. With any front basket, it does take a little getting use to the extra weight on the front, but it is not bad. I was riding without issues within the first block. The basket does give good support for the dog and highly recommend. Will post pictures later.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  ♥ POOCH RIDING IN CLASS ♥, January 15, 2011
By B. Family (Florida)
First off- I have about a 5 pound Yorkshire Terrier. She's 6 months old now. I decided to let her enjoy in on some Family outdoor biking activities. My First thought was for her Safety/Comfort. After previously owning a basket for another animal I had in the past- I opted not to go that route again. Let's just say- cheaper isn't better and some baskets are not intended for your little furry friend. This Solvit Wicker Bicycle Basket was not only versatile- but comfortable for your pet- and provide the necessary safety attachments needed to ensure your furry friend stays put.
After much research on other sites and price comparing- The Solvit was my #1 Choice for my Stella.
Aside from the bike being a bit unstable when the dog is removed and you have left it parked on the kick stand- That's the only unstable part of it. The positive thing is that the basket is EASILY Removed with a quick tip up from the bracketry mounted to the handlebars. This also makes hauling and preserving the basket convenient, quick, and simple.
My first ride with Stella was not the best- but I suppose that's to be expected. My husband rollerblading ahead and myself riding the bike with basket attached and Puppy in tow. She was crying for my husband one minute- the next her tongue hanging out long, panting, and enjoying the Florida breeze. I have to say the next go around will be alot more promising. I have yet to venture out at this time due to cold weather- but soon and maybe a pic to go along with my review.
Thanks Solvit for making a safe and quality item for our little furry friends to accompany us outdoors.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Install Problem, September 2, 2010
By Chelsita
I love this basket. It arrived and appreas to be very sturdy. It also looks very nice. I don't think I will use the sun shade though. Plan to use it for my bike with my yorkie and also for storage if I ride to the farmer's market without him. I think it's great that you can take it on and off the bike so easily so you don't always have to have it on there. THe only problem is that my bike's handle bars are a little wider than the installation componets so it doesn't latch on all the way around. I am going to take it to my local bike shop to see if they can improvise on the installation (safely) or maybe replace my handle bars with some skinnier ones. It's too bad though because I jusr bought my bike and I hope I don't have to buy different handle bars already. I know that it's a problem specific to me, but I still think this is worth the buy if you have a little dog.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  So Cute!, August 14, 2010

It is very cute! It might be a little too small for my Bichon (11Lbs), but he can still fits in it. I just put it on my bike yesterday. I can go slow but not fast yet. I need a little practice but I love it. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars.  It fulfilled my hopes, August 8, 2011
By The Loob
I went to every bike shop in town, called several others, and then went online. This appeared to be the only product that fit all my requirements. It is sturdy, comfortable, easy to install, and my Chiweenie loves it and so do I. Very few baskets can fit or are safe and comfortable for a 12 lb. dog. The only downside is you better be strong and have good balance if putting that large of a dog in the basket. Because it is in the front it makes steering and starting from a dead stop difficult. It is best for actual bike trails where there isn't a lot of negotiating of turns and stop & go. For a slightly smaller dog it would be amazing anywhere.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Totally Cute!!!, August 27, 2010
By Shellatte (So.Cal.)
This is the cutest dog basket ever! I wasn't sure if my dog would like it but he does. The first day I made a big deal about it and just carried him around so that when it came time to attach it to my bike he was already used to it. Also training treats are a great incentive. :) Everyone that sees it always has a cute comment and the canopy makes a big hit. It is so sturdy and made extremely well. I absolutely love it!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Practical and Cute!, February 19, 2012
By c conway
I have a 6 month old cat that I'm training to work as a therapy pet at hospitals and nursing homes. He's great on a leash and I wanted to take him further than just our block. He rides in it perfectly, with the canopy adding security and blocking direct sun. He's still getting use to longer rides, but is always eager to jump inside when it's ready on the bike. I keep the basket off between rides and he LOVES it for playing and napping. In fact he's sleeping in it right now. It feels good to know that he is so comfortable with it and that when we use it outside it's an object he already feels safe in.

There are lots of extras that make this basket better than any other I've looked at, including larger size, three connections to the bike, safety hook for harness, removable, padding, sun shade (removable also) and it's made of plastic for easy cleaning. I just hope he doesn't get too heavy since I'm still learning to balance us both on the bike and the basket may not hold more than 10lbs. Fits on my 18 speed 2011 Giant Sedona Women's bike (the extra bar that keeps the basket at an angle has a curved end to fit the stem of the bike and it's a little too small to fit precisely but it still does its job).

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Love it!, September 22, 2011
By tcampy65
This basket is perfect for what I was looking for! I have two Mi-Ki's that weigh 4lbs each, and I am able to put them both inside easily with plenty of room for them to sit or stand up on the edge and look over. The basket is sturdy, and with the extra straps to keep the basket steady, I felt very comfortable with their safety as we ride.

The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the harness connector is not adjustable and I had to alter the length to keep my dogs from being able to jump from the basket and hang over the edge possibly injuring them. Also, there is not a way to secure a reflector or light to the basket for evening or night riding.

Overall, this is a GREAT product and I highly recommend it for the quality manufacturing, ease of installation, and security of your dog/s.

Note: Even though the weight limit states up to 15lbs, it is not very large for some breeds who may meet the weight, but be larger than the basket for comfort.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy, very roomy for 14 lb dog! Highly recommend this one!, October 23, 2011
By Spooter (Franklinville, NY)
After researching every front mounting dog bike carrier out there I decided on this one mostly because it was "hard" and it had the biggest dimensions. I actually tried one of the little dog trailers you pull but she hated not being up front with me. I recieved it in only 2 days (Yay!) and hubby put it right on. I have a 14 lb. shih tzu mix (yea Iknow she is over the 13 lbs) and she had plenty of room. I am lucky cuz my dog sits pretty still, (if she moves around alot the weight shift can cause difficulty with steering.)
There were no problems like previous reviews suggest about the basket tipping forward, you just need to use the 2 straps provided that fasten to the handlebars to keep that from happening. The basket is very sturdy, my dog feels very secure in it. If there was anything negative to be said about it, it would be that the strap that hooks to the bottom of the basket that secures to your dogs harness or collar is not long enough (for my dog anyway) so I attached it to my handlebar instead and it is fine, since that is probably because my dog is larger than the weight limit I wont consider it a "negative"
So if you have a dog that is at or slightly above the weight limit give it a try, as long as the dog isnt trying to jump all over the place you should be fine!

I am extremely happy with my purchase of the Solvit Tagalong Bicycle Basket. My dog tootsie is a 15 year old cockerpoo. She weights 10lbs. She loves riding in her new basket. Since I purchased the basket at the end of May we have logged over 120 miles together. The basket is very well made & attaches to my bike very easily. It is very safe & deep. My only minor complaint is that the straps that hold the wicker top on are not sturdy enough & are starting to tear from taking them on & off to get her in & out of the basket. I would definitely recommend this basket & only wish I would have purchased this a long time ago.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  My Yorkie loves this!, April 20, 2011
By Beachitmom (Egg Harbor Twp. NJ)
This is a little too small for my "big" 12lb. Yorkie. It is a little "big" for my 3 lb. Yorkie. She loves it though! My husband had no problem attaching it to my bike. The tie down in the bottom middle has a tie down for the harness which keeps the dog secure. People everywhere ask where I got it when we take a bike ride.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Dog Bike Basket, October 26, 2010
By Linda
I bought this for my shih tzu who is about 8-9 pounds. She fits in it ok but not alot of room to move around. It was easy to install and seems sturdy enough for her. I don't know how it would be for a dog much larger than 10 lbs. You need to be careful going over bumps because she could pop out. I took her out on a bike trail which was pretty flat about 10 miles. She loved it. I let her run some of the way also to stretch her little legs. All in all I would recommend this product. I haven't used the sun shade yet. Plenty of room to put stuff in pockets.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Negative rating if possible, April 13, 2012
By Book Maven (New York, NY)
I bought 2 of these, one for my 6 lb maltipoo and one for my 12 lb bichon poodle mix. I tried out my 6 lb dog first and she bent the frame! I bent it back and rode around the parking lot a few times to see how stable it was and it wobbled, bent and almost dumped her out of the front of the basket! I spent $120 on these worthless baskets. If I could give a negative number of stars I would!, DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!,!,!,!,!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  My 10 lb cat loves it!, February 24, 2012
By Christina (Smithtown, NY USA)
I bought this basket to take my cat with me for bike rides. In addition to this basket I bought a wire cover (http://www.amazon.com/Solvit-Safety-Wicker-Bicycle-Basket/dp/B0057AETGY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1330130689&sr=8-1) to prevent him from jumping out. The basket attached perfectly to the bike, the only problem is controlling the bike. Because the basket with a 10 lb cat is pretty heavy, it is difficult to keep the steering wheel straight. My husband, on the other hand, does not have any problems with it, so now he is the one riding with a cat :) Another problem is that the weight of my cat might be too much for this basket, because it is constantly rubbing against the front wheel, especially during the turns.
Besides that I like the basket, we used it many times. My cat is still a bit scared, but he is getting used to it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love this!!!, December 14, 2011
By SammySamSam
This basket was easy to install (even for a girl). The basket has plenty of room for my 8lb pup to sit down, lay and turn around. It is extremely sturdy and doesn't wiggle much when you're riding. I haven't had a chance to have the pup ride in it yet, but the quality met my expectations.

UPDATE 4/13/2012:

I am still in LOVE with this bike basket. My dog has now grown to about 11 lbs and she still rides comfortably in the basket. We always get a few laughs from the people in cars seeing a dog in basket. Nothing crazy to me about it, but people seem to giggle. My pup loves riding in the basket so much too. When I get my bike out and start to put her basket on she begins to whine with excitement. We did actually take a spill and the basket (and dog) were not injured. It's pretty sturdy. If I end up getting another dog I'll have to get a basket for it to ride with my boyfriend. Or get a rack put on the back wheel to mount it on the rear tire. I'll really look like a crazy then!

Cute, but NOT safe. The support for basket collapsed to wheel on first ride before even leaving parking lot. If I had been up to speed or on the road, my sweet little Shih Tzu puppy could have been seriously injured.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Tagalong Bicycle Baskets, February 20, 2012
By Iggy owner
My husband and I bought the other Tagalong basket (grey, material, sporty look) when we got our first dog and it has been great! We used it every time we go on a bike ride. The only problem we had was with the bracket as the bottom piece kept unhooking and bending. We resolved this with some tape, a spanner and cable ties.
When we got our second dog, I wanted a basket for my bike although I did not like the look of it. When I saw this new wicker model, we bought it! They have definitely improved the bracket and it is much more solid than the other one. I absolutely love it! The downside is that I wish it had a strap to carry the basket on my shoulder.
Also, the strap to hook onto the dogs is too short in both baskets, it could use another 3-4 inches.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Worked Great!, November 3, 2011
By Heather Newman (Weston, Florida USA)
I researched bike baskets for about 2 weeks before I decided on the Solvit Tagalong, sport model. I'm pretty handy with a philips screw driver and follow directions well, so I wasn't too worried about the negative reviews I had read. The basket arrived yesterday and took me about 20min to install on my bike (I have a white and mint Cranbrook Cruiser; I added a picture). If you follow the step by step directions, screw in all the screws tight, and make sure you use the safety straps on the basket- you are golden. The basket is sturdy and has just enough room for my 10 lb Maltipoo. We went on our first ride this morning and it was a grand success!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not for dogs over 3-4 lbs!!!, October 19, 2011
By J.
The concept of this is great for portability, but the wire frame that slips into the pocket on the basket to hold it on the bike is nowhere near strong enough!! I have a barely 7 lb. papillon and while she is in the basket, the wire bends forward causing a major tilt that puts her in an unsafe and uncomfortable position. It would probably be ok for a very light dog (under 4 lbs.) but I would not recommend it for any dog over that.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  good and not so good, September 24, 2011
By amazon addict (Southern Cali)
The good... cute, easy to assemble, safe (can secure my bubba in the basket by his collar), the basket and included cover is comfy and well made. The not so good...the weight limit is really pushing it my dog is 8 pounds. I Have had the basket for over a year now and it is to the point of almost dragging on the tire. Over time it tends to bow forward the part that attaches to the bike is plastic. But for bike rides on the beach/boardwalk its fine, and he looks so cute! Overall the basket itself is great the part for attaching to the bike, meh.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Dog loves the ride, September 23, 2011
By Chloe0618
The basket arrived in a damaged box without protective packing inside. The basket is wicker, which subjects it to damage without packaging. The wicker was in fact damaged - pieces of wicker were missing from the basket, exposing the metal frame. However, the basket was still functional and I did not see that it would be worth it to return and exchange the basket, assuming the next basket would arrive in the same box, same lack of protective packaging, and would end up with the same damage. The hardware was easy to assemble and attach to my basket - and provides a sturdy support/attachment for the basket. The basket holds my dog, is just the right size for her and some of my belongings. There is a safety belt/attachment that connects from the metal frame to my dog's harness, which she apparently needs as she has tried to jump out of the basket when she sees squirrels and other small animals during her bike ride. I would recommend that if you purchase this basket, you attach the safety latch to a harness and not just a collar. My dog loves the basket, but I have not yet used the awning, because my dog likes to sit up and rest her front paws on the front ledge of the basket, making her too tall to fit under the awning. I have a 5 pound Yorkie, and this basket is the perfect size for my dog, and supports her weight well. Now, when I start to get my bike ready for a ride, my dog gets excited about her ride, too. I give this three stars because of the damage to the basket when it arrived, which was very disappointing, but otherwise the basket works well and is supported well by the hardware.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect Basket!, September 9, 2011
By book-a-holic (Clare, Mi USA)
I just recieved the basket, and it is perfect. It is well constructed and feels very sturdy. Putting the bracket on my bike was not difficult, and the instructions were easy to follow. I let my dog sit in the basket on the floor a couple times before putting him in it on the bike. At first, he just sat there as I rode staring at me, but very soon he relaxed and started looking around. He really enjoyed it, and I look forward to many more rides! I also discovered that I can easily remove the sheepskin lining and use the basket to hold items from the store, so this is a very versatile basket!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Basket but not for a bike just yet., July 19, 2011
By Lesley Marsh
I have say this is a very promising item, I mean for $60 bucks there is definitely a promise. I understand every post that has something against the assembly because it's a true hassle, not an impossible task if you follow the directions and screw in very tightly but the mechanism itself has an issue with stability...there is a piece that connects the basket with the frame of the bike; although the entire frame work is hard metal, this piece is plastic, it bends and does not stay hooked under pressure.

If no one has presented this issue then I must say the sellers of this product should not say this basket works fine with dogs up to 10 pounds. My dog is a little over the limit and the mechanism fails to stay in place.

I regret buying this and I'm not the type of person that sees something malfunction and throw it away, I have tried to work around it, but the plastic piece sometimes pops out of place as I am ridding the bike.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not Sure, July 13, 2011
By Lainey
I was so excited to finally get this bike basket. It's a bit flimsier than I thought for my 8lb dog, but it seems to be better than a lot of what's out there. My dog seems on the fence about liking it though since it does move when she shifts weight. Does anyone have any advice on how to get her more into it? I'd love to be able to take her on long rides.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Stable design and great price, June 20, 2011
By smart shopper
It looks just like the picture. I got another basket for my husband's bike that was not wicker, and this is much more stable and looks more comfortable for my dog. The installation was fairly easy too.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for around the neighborhood., May 24, 2012
By RocketDog38
This product is everything it claims to be; super-cute, easy to assemble and easy to attach. The basket does have a clip-in harness attachment; which is great- but for small dogs this thing is fairly sturdy! My little chihuahua wasn't too thrilled about having a large metal clamp attached to his harness. While the wicker frame is enforced with metal wire, it seems a bit flimsy; I wouldn't reccomend exceeding the weight limit. Overall, it's a really good product. My dogs love it; especially the older chihuahua who has difficulty walking, but still loves being outside. I'd buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love it!, May 24, 2012
By Missy
Once it is put together this is the best purchase I have made for my dog. She loves it and so do all that see it. I would not hesitate to purchase this again. She is safe with the attachment to her harness inside the basket and rests her chin on the soft lining.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Basket, bad service, May 23, 2012
By Adriana
The basket turned out to be awesome. I have a 13lb maltais and its very solid and secure. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same thing about amazon's service... first of all, I didn't receive the basket but two months after I bought it... because the first time they sent it, it was lost in the shipping and I had to call and send e-mails several times to solve the problem. Second of all, the customer service was horrible.. each representative said something different about my order. I didn't know what to believe. Also, they used one credit card to make the refund, and another one to charge the basket once again without my permission. By the other hand, they charged me another 5$ when they sent me the second basket... all of that, without I knowing it until I woke up the next morning. But the basket.. i loved it

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Dog Basket with Sun Lid, May 22, 2012
By Bargain Hunter (Boston, MA)
At first the basket swayed with the 9 pound dog in it and made steering difficult. Then I realized I hadnt used the two black straps properly. They attach the basket through the slots to the bike handle keeping it from bouncing forward with weight and motion. Tried again this morning with the new set up and it is AWESOME! My 12 pound Havanese, Eddie, who HATES car rides, LOVED this bike ride. Even with his heavier weight the three miles we did in the rain was no problem. I am 62 and have not ridden in quite awhile, so I am adjusting to riding again and a bike basket all at once. Probably not too smart, but we are improving our learning curve daily!
Wonderful product, very well made, great price, fast shipment! Thank you! Plan to have years of fun with this!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy Rider, May 17, 2012
By Glo
Our little (11 lb.) Shih Tzu hates to be left out, whether we're riding in the car, walking, or on bikes. After reading reviews of other bike baskets and finding they were either flimsy or swayed while riding, I chose this basket. The installation was quick and easy. The basket is the perfect size for her. She feels safe and secure and loves riding with us. There is a tether strap inside the basket and I put a harness on her rather than tether to her collar. We haven't used the hood yet, but I'm sure we will this summer. Our Molly is so happy she can now ride with us and is the envy of all the other dogs in the neighborhood!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love this basket, May 10, 2012
By Susan E. Fueshko
I purchased this basket to carry my 9 pound yorkshire terrier on my bike. It was pretty easy to install, only took me a few minutes. I like the fact that I can remove the basket very easily when I am not taking my dog with me. It works perfectly, very sturdy and plenty of room for my yorkie. She was a little scared at first, but she is getting used to bike rides, and I enjoy being able to take her with me.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  My puppy loves it, May 2, 2012
By S. Begley (Schertz, TX)
The basket appears to be good quality. My husband put it on my bike very easily. My puppy is a Shih Tzu/Poodle mix and weighs about 11 pounds. He has plenty of room and can be securely fastened in with his harness. With his weight, there was no problem with the basket bending down on the wires or the front tire. We did need to use the extra straps to hold it up, but they were easy to put on and work fine. I haven't put the little sun roof on it yet. That might seem a little crowded for him.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Disappointed, April 14, 2012
By Cindy
I purchased this as a gift for my wife and dog. The dog is 12 pounds and very calm. The basket does not support the dog. It sags underneath. The gift was given on April 7th. We now decide to return it and find that we will only receive partial payment as the return window ended on April 8th.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Be very careful!, April 14, 2012
By C. lee (ohio,usa)
We got this basket for my son's Easter gift. He rides 5 miles every day with his dad(who runs) and they like to take our Cairn Terrier, Charlie, with them. Charlie can make it 1.5 miles then needs a rest. The neighbors have been razzing them about carrying the dog when he got tired but Charlie loves the run too much to be left behind. We found this basket and thought it was a perfect solution-until we put it on the bike, which was easy to do, and watched the material tear and the basket fall off before we even got done "admiring" it. My son was in tears because he kept thinking about how he "almost killed" Charlie. Bad day, bad product. By the way, our dog never even got in the basket so it wasn't his 11 pounds that caused it to break.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Solvit Wicker Basket is Plastic!, April 9, 2012
By Fastening lady
The Solvit 62331 Wicker Bicycle Basket is made out of plastic; I was very surprised especially because no one mentioned this in their reviews. "Authentic Rattan Design" is certainly a misleading statement. Also, the liner is not genuine sheep skin. Once I got past the deception; I think it serves its purpose and is still an attractive design. The cover is too low for my dog it would be like shutting her in a box, so we will not be using the cover. Make certain you harness/strap your dog. I thought my dog would be fine, she rides on the ATV with us, I hooked her in anyway and she tried jumping several times her first time out! Also the basket is quite wobbly when the road is less than smooth. I selected the free ground shipping and received it in less than one week.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent construction; love this basket!, March 8, 2012
By Ava
I received this basket as a Christmas present in 2011. I promptly spray painted it white to match my bicycle, and it looks great. And my 5-pound Toy Poodle loves to ride in it. The faster I go, the more he loves it. We had a little foster baby with us for the last couple of weeks, and he rode in it with my little guy... loved it! I could see, though, where the additional 4 pounds was straining the brace. If I had a heavier dog or multiple dogs in it all the time, I'd definitely add a strap to secure it around the handlebars a little better. But with just my baby in it, it's perfectly fine.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not good for older bikes, January 21, 2012
By Kristine
I have a 1997 Fuji that has the brake cable running allow the front stem of the bike. The connector piece that acts as a ledge between the bike and the basket would not fit. Without this piece, the basket (with my then 7 pound puppy in it) would push against my brake cable and bend it in a frightening fashion. I took it to my local bike shop to see if they can do something about my ~$45 investment and they were unsuccessful. I ended up putting the piece vertically, attaching it to the basket and the front reflector with duct tape to prevent rubbing against the brake cable. I haven't put my now 9 pound puppy in it yet, so I'll be sure to update when I do.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Spacious Basket, August 2, 2011
By Mountain Folk
This basket has plenty of room and is deep. I like the tether in the bottom to keep my little guy from jumping out. I would rate this 5 stars but the stablizer that is suspposed to rest against my forks doesn't because thats where my reflector is. Otherwise it's a great basket and I would recommend it.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Unable to fit handlebar, March 1, 2012
By Roy Teo (Singapore)
Purchased this item for my dog.
Unfortunately as i'm riding a mountain bike, the clamps that came with the item could not fit the bike. Am in the process of trying to find an alternate way to mount it. If all else fails, will have to return this item.
