4.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap & bright., November 17, 2009
By Caralien (Princeton, NJ)
Great set. Both the front and back lights are super bright, which is great for riding home at night on poorly-lit streets, particularly now that it gets dark before 5PM.

It's a little difficult to get the batteries to work properly on the rear light--it is cheaply made. That said, once you do get it to work (15 minutes later), it's easy to install and then you don't have to worry about it for another year or so.

Not bad for $10 with free shipping.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Good light; bad mounting system, April 17, 2009
By barquis
The light itself is attractive and works great. Sadly, the mounting system is terrible. It kept coming loose on the handlebars and drooping down no matter how hard I would tighten it.

Additionally, the light itself would never "click" into place as the snap mechanism doesn't quite reach the hole when you slide it in. This makes it vulnerable to sliding off the mount and falling to the ground.

Furthermore, the tracks on the light that slide onto the unit broke off the unit after less than a week's use. Now I'm left with a very good flashlight.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  BRIGHT, easy to use and LED, February 24, 2010
By Ryan T. Robinson
Great light combo. I was not sure on buying it because some had said they had problems with the buttons. But I found no problems. This is a must have because of the strobe effect. Almost like a cop car strobe. Will get you noticed also has a slower flash mode for those people who don't do well with quick flashing lights. Also a bright solid on. The rear light works great too perfect size and great product for the price. Must buy, I will get extras for around the house.

The front light fell apart two days after I installed it. The cover for the on/off button fell off. No way to turn on. Poorly made product.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great light set, April 23, 2010
By Rogue Daddy (Raleigh NC)
I was more than pleased with the light set I got when I ordered this. I got the headlight and the taillight for my bicycle. I ride in an area that has traffic from two major highways, and I ride early in the morning, so I wanted to have lights for safety. I like that both have a "flash" feature, and both come off of the bike mountings, so you can use the headlight like a small flashlight if you need to. Installation was super simple, took it out of the pack and on the bike in less than 10 minutes. The longest part was deciding where to mount it. Very good buy, very good product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice set, February 19, 2009
By R. H. Mckee (Key West)
A great value

A great little light. One LED shines sort of straight down... others out front...want it as a middle of no where headlight maybe not... but the ocassional dark space even blinking NO ISSUE seing what is in front of me.

Dispite the not a head light complaint.... have had many peple say boy is that bright... and reflective signs light up like daylight.... definitely gets you noticed... and blue white and way it flashs gets some to think maybe you are even a cop...

A GOOD thing for a bike rider in an inattentive car environment.

Can't complain at all.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Deal, October 8, 2009
By Low (New York)
Took a chance with this purchase due to how cheap the price was & some other reviews said it was sub-par. I bought it anyway and im having no problems with it at all. The headlight does its job and you'll be seen at night, granted there are more expensive units with brighter light beams but for basic city riding wheres theres a lot of street light & you wanna stand out and be visible this will do the job. You can slide it off in a sec if you need too. The backlight is also nice, its bright and has about 4 different flashing modes also clips off to take with ya. My only complaint is it was a touch bigger than my handlebar diameter, but all I did was cut a piece of rubber to secure it on better. I plan on getting a 2nd set for my other bike.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Wish I had not ordered this set - CHEAP!!! BROKE IMMEDIATELY., January 4, 2011
By Barbara S. Mccann
First the better of the two was the rear light NOT AS PICTURED. Its a white lens with 5 YELLOW LED bulbs. VERY BRIGHT with 2 settings .

Can be seen at a good distance. The lens snaps on and has a very flimsy gasket. So, I took some clear silicon squeeze out caulk that drys tacky and greyish clear. Squirted out a dab and with a tooth pick I wiped on a sealing bead 360. Let it get tacky and sealed it shut. With a knife this will be an easy bead to break and rub off when changing batteries.

BUT, THE FRONT LIGHT - WORTHLESS. Cheap CN you know what. Never made it onto the bike as it had 3 issues in ten minutes that killed the light DEAD before it was even installed.

This is a very bad idea.

Since I would pay to return it, & be charged s&h for another similar replacement all I got for my money was $1 worth of batteries.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright, Solid, Looks Good, August 20, 2011
By Andyvew (CA)
I don't know what these people are talking about the taillight being yellow. The one I got was exactly like in the picture, I guess there must have been a mix up at the factory or something. After reading some of these reviews, I was expecting a hit or miss, but this was definitely a hit! the light actually looks pretty cool, and makes a great addition to my bike. And yes, the mounting system isn't the easiest to set up but once mounted, it works great! I was amazed at how bright the lights were, especially considering how cheap it was. Another nice thing about the headlight is that you can easily un-clip it from the mount and then slide/click it back into place. Also, it came with plenty of rubber padding to help fit to most size handlebars, and for extra gripping. I honestly cannot think of one bad thing about these lights, I would definitely assume they're not waterproof though.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Extremely bright. Strongly recommend., November 19, 2010
By Dave (Nashville TN)
Firstly, this light is extremely bright, which was my principal concern when ordering a bike light. I can note the full reflection of the light in street signs 75 - 100 yards away, so I can only imagine what it looks like to an oncoming vehicle.

I guess I didn't read the product description very well before I purchased, but I was pleasantly surprised by the illuminated ring around the side of the light which improves your lateral visibility. Once the four AA batteries are installed, the light feels very solid. The included clip connects to your bike with a thumbscrew, and the light can snap on and off of that clip easily, which is convenient for when I leave my bike chained.

My only complaint -- and this is a very, very minor one -- is that when turning the light on, the light goes into strobe mode first. Clicking the button again changes the mode to a slower blinking mode, and finally after clicking a third time the light will be on continuously. It caught me off guard the first two or three times I turned the light on, especially because the strobe is almost nauseatingly bright, but once I learned to expect it it was no longer an issue. Perhaps this is the way all bike lights work -- I don't know -- but I would have expected the mode cycle to be the other way around.

I originally purchased this set for the headlight only as I already had a taillight on my bike, but I was more impressed with the brightness of this taillight so I switched the two. I also use the light to walk or run around the neighborhood at night, as it is lightweight.

In summary, if you want to be seen as much as possible by spending the least amount of money possible, I would strongly recommend this light.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just about the only thing that would fit on my Schwinn Prelude road bike, June 26, 2010
By Edan C (YOUNGSTOWN, FL, US)
First of all the front light is very bright and very compact compared to my Bell light I have for my mountain bike. My drop down handlebars left no room to mount a light on the bar so I modified the front light's mounting hardware with a saw and drill to where it would fit on top of the center post that holds the bars and then used zip ties to fasten the modified plate down. The light's narrow width was the only reason this worked for me because there otherwise would not have been enough room for the thumb shifters to move.

The rear light that I received is amber-colored which was a surprise, but no big deal because it is also very bright and gets attention regardless of color.

I also love that they are really light and don't add too much weight to my fairly light bike.

One problem I had with the front light was that the red button kept coming off, so I put super glue around the edge that the button sits in and it has stayed ever since.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good Price, they do as expected, March 25, 2011
By J. Cole (Brooklyn, NY)
Bright, easy, done. Only issue is on my bike I had a hard time finding a good spot for the tail light. I have a Schwinn that came with a rack that had a reflector attached to the back and my seat isn't high enough for it to go under there. Its on the side of a rear rod. Fine for now, maybe I'll zip tie it when I get around to it....

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Bicycle Headlight/Tailight, January 24, 2011
By fintago
I ordered two headlights and two tailights for our bicycles. One headlight wouldn't

work, so I took it apart and resoldered the wire connecting to the leds. One

tailight was red, and the other was yellow, and the package was open, like someone

opened it and then returned it.

Pretty disappointed in the yellow tailight. I don't send things back so I just threw

it in a drawer and bought one at walmart.

In this country, tailights are RED.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Promptly broke in the rain, April 23, 2011
By M. Ritter
Started randomly cycling through modes in the first and second rainstorms I biked through (back and front light, respectively). It's not like I fell in a puddle - if the light's going to fail in one of the conditions that I most need it, it's worse than DOA.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice product, but doesn't fit my road bike, March 3, 2011
By rgv75 (Encino, CA USA)
I was skeptical at first in ordering this product because of the mixed reviews about the quality. However, upon receipt and after putting in the battery, I immediately realized that the product is actually pretty nice and bright, and works really well as a flash light. The rear light works, too, and is pretty bright. I like the various blinking options for the front and rear lights also. The only problem I had was that the bracket that it came with didn't fit the handle bar on my road bike. The bracket is not adjustable at all, so it's useless for me. Fortunately, the rear light's bracket fit just fine. But I really need the front light also, so I had to return the product because of fitting issues. Also, if you want a bike light that you can remove easily, this is not the product for you. The rear bracket use screws so it's not something you can add/remove quite easily because you'll need a screw driver. The front bracket has the feature of using a hand-tight screw, but the bolt that holds the screw is pretty loose and pretty small, so you may lose it easily.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  It's AWESOME!!, May 27, 2010
By J (Alaska)
I am in the military and currently deployed in Afghanistan. I managed to acquire a bicycle and was in need of some lights. After researching several products, I came to the conclusion that based on the reviews and price, this was the best choice. The headlight/taillight combo work great, easy to install, stays well put, clips on and off for safe keeping while not in use, I'd recommend it to anybody! Plenty of light too!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Ventura Bicycle Set, April 13, 2010
By Minh D.
This was a great deal, bought 2 sets for 11 bucks each. The first one I put on had no problems fit well, needed some adjustments using the rubber spacers but overall works great! I did get one defected, but was shipped a new one right away and was free shipping to send the defected one back. I would recommend these and would buy for my other bikes!

Performance: Different settings with blinks, quick blink are very nice. Cars can see me blocks away and you can see them slow down. Gets the job done!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright Lights, Great Price!, August 18, 2011
By D. Cicchetti (San Jose, CA USA)
Just received these lights yesterday and mounted them on my bike. Since this is my first set of bicycle lights, I don't have anything to compare them to, but I can say that they came with their own batteries (which is rare for anything these days), were easy to mount, and are very bright, especially at night. I mounted them around dusk and took my bike around a few blocks a couple of times to test their brightness. I set the front beam to 'strobe' and the back to 'blinking' mode. I was surprised at the distance I could see the the bright leds reflecting off of street signs - probably a good 50 yards, if not more. My wife said she could see me coming down the street and I was lit up like a Christmas tree! Exactly what I was looking for, as my whole purpose of purchasing these are to be seen as we ride on pretty busy streets in San Jose, CA. Others posted them as being cheaply made. The back red light seems a bit cheaper than the front beam. I'm a person who believes "You get what you pay for", but for the price of these, it's a good starter set, and if you're not handling them too roughly, I'm sure they'll last. I'll re-post any updates to their longevity.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  The packaging on this is awful...do not buy as a gift..., March 8, 2011
By Melissa M. Hess (Quincy, Illinois)
I can't comment on the functionality of this item...but I will comment on the presentation of the product and packaging. I always wish people would mention this in their reviews...I scoured the reviews before I bought this as a gift and NO ONE said what type of package it came in. I hate that...so now I am doing a review based solely on what it looks like out of the box. One word...crappy. I bought this as a gift, therefore cannot comment on the functionality as I previously mentioned, but I was embarrassed to give this as a gift! The package is very small...smaller than a sheet of 8x10 paper. It is a light set on a piece of cardboard, then a piece of semi molded plastic STAPLED to the cardboard. Pieces were almost falling out...I had to staple it more myself to make it sturdy enough to gift wrap. It was dusty...didn't look like a $14 item AT ALL. It looks more like a Dollar Store item. Very disappointed in this. Even if it ends up working great...which if the horrible packaging was any indication...yikes...it wasn't worth it for my purpose, which was to gift this.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Works, but difficult to install and not very durable., August 24, 2010
By Rexington
Both of these do their basic job (create light), but that's about it.

I found these difficult to install on my bike -- especially the headlight, which took quite a bit of effort to get the screw to connect. Also, they only lasted a few months. The headlight had its button come off, which eventually lead to failure due to environmental exposure. The taillight has a pretty weak clip and popped off when I went over a particularly big bump - it shattered when it hit the ground. These lasted me a few months. Granted, I did treat them a little bit roughly.

So, if you want a really basic, inexpensive lighting setup, this combo works -- but be gentle with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Way overpriced, okay lights, September 19, 2010
By Professor Joan
I bought this headlight direct from China for $5; the taillight is available for even less, shipped, so there is more than $11 in mark-up on this item. However, the headlight is surprisingly good, despite the low price. The plastic appears cheap, but everything fits well and the 4 AAA batteries provide good run time. You won't see much of the road with this light, but it is plenty bright if you just want to be seen by car drivers, pedestrians and other bike riders. But the price here is too high.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice Lights, But Not Exact As Pictured, September 29, 2010
By M. Manio (San Francisco, CA USA)
The lights came today and upon opening them i noticed that the batteries that were supplied with the lights were leaking out ACID! It seems to me that the lightset that forCycling had sent to me appears to have been sitting on some shelf for a long amount of time maybe a few years to cause brand new batteries to leak. Other than that the tail light that came with my lightset was Amber/Yellow and had a square/Clear housing rather than a round/red housing that's used in the picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for bikes at Burning Man, August 16, 2011
By Dave Halbeck (St Louis, MO United States)
Simple, uses AAA batts, small, and bright. Can come off to attach to anything else easily. Can be easily removed/reattached to the circle clip. Both lights have a few blink modes to save on battery. Easy to operate, even at night with gloves on.

A couple minor details:
- Comes with cheap "Heavy Duty" non-alkaline batts. NiMH or Alkaline will last longer.
- Both have cheap rubber O rings at the screw in to seal the battery compartment. They tend to get caught in the threads, and I removed mine. Not good for watery environments.
- brittle plastic, may not survive much abuse.

All in all, very nice option for lighting your bike in Burning Man and using as your pack light while away from your bike.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Just as pictured. Works fine., August 7, 2011
By readres
After seeing a few of the negative reviews, I was hesitant but took a chance and it is exactly as pictured and works well. Good value.

One caveat is that if you have a road bike with thick bar tape wrapping, the holder for the front light my not fit around it.

I was able to get it on mine but had to pinch with pliers until the screw and bolt connected. It may snap off, so I may need to wrap some tape there somewhere.

But any standard handlebar should be fine.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  You get what you pay for, August 4, 2011
By Nathan A Schoening (Garfield Heights, Ohio, US)
The headlight works well but the taillight is terrible. Both of them are difficult to get to work. But are easy to get onto the bike.

The taillight goes on sideways, it is very difficult to open up and to get it to work. It is defintely something you get what you pay for. With the comment about how it has different settings, I have no idea how to change it from strobe, steady, etc. Well, why don't I read the directions? BECAUSE THEY ARE USELESS! The have directions to open up the light and that is it. Nothing about changing the settings or anything like that.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Very Bright, Cheap Quality, February 2, 2011
By Conscious Consumer (CA USA)
Ordered a set of these for my girlfriend's bike. I like the fact that they are super bright so she will be highly visible at night.

The rear was easy to snap together and work fine - should note the lens is clear and the bulbs are amber (no red lens as pictured) i actually think they looks better at night.

The front I put batteries in and clicked the on button and nothing. unscrewed the lens poked around the wiring and got the thing working (past experience leads me to believe a short will be coming). there was a 1/4 inch crack in the side of the lens that does not affect the operation of the unit. and the light is supposed to be able to slide on and off the mount - but I had to use force to get it even slide 3/4 of the way on.

Don't think they would be very water resistant either but they are bright and for the price the decent 3 star quality I expected.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Bike light, January 26, 2011
By robert
This light looks like one i bought off e-bay. The light is pretty bright for the PRICE...However with that being said. I would buy a planet bike or similiar light. I have had both and the planet bike is WAY more duarable. However for the price it does the job if your just riding around the neighborhood and are a SEASONAL enthusist.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright and easy to use, January 8, 2011
By Lauren
Purchased these for my boyfriend who often bikes at night in Chicago where we live. The lights are bright - he says he can see almost two blocks ahead with the front light! Once you attach the base for each light to the bike, it's easy to put on and take off the lights when you park your bike so they don't get stolen. He's very happy with them and I'm happy he's biking safe! Thank you!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Tail light is not as described, June 12, 2010
By Back Bay (Boston)
The front light with strobe mode is a hit. Just cover the upper side of flashing ring with a non-transparent tape, as others suggested.
The tail light I received has two functions - steady and slow flashing (instead of advertised four), and amber LEDs.
So it should cost less, as it costs at W**mart.
Since the each light comes in a separate factory package - it's a tricky move from Amazon to drop a slightly cheaper item into the box when returns have no sense due to not-free shipping associated with them.

On the other hand, the amber color looks unusual on a bike, so it may grab more attention (or be ignored like turn signals).

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Doesn't even work!, July 10, 2011

Needed a decently priced headlight/taillight combo for my bike. When these arrived I was really excited, and they even come with batteries! The taillight started blinking furiously as soon as I powered it on. It was great, just what I was looking for. Unfortunately, the headlight doesn't even work! I tried switching out the batteries, but nothing works. What a waste of money!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Very satisfied commuter, June 20, 2011
By M. Eldridge
These lights are excellent. A real steal at this price. I bought them for commuting to and from work in the dusky mornings and late evenings. Even the cheap generic batteries supplied with the lights last for ages. I've been using mine for 3 months now, I have them on nearly every time I cycle to work, 20 mins each way, 7 days a week. I once even accidentally left them on all day while in work! The front light (on which I use the strobe setting) is as bright as ever, and the rear light is only now starting to dim a little - but I'm very impressed with the longevity of both lights.

The button on the front light is a little tricky - but I have big fingers and I manage with very little trouble. On the plus side, it means the light is less likely to accidentally switch on while in a bag or pocket if you have removed your lights from your bike.

The front light isn't powerful enough to light your route in total darkness (e.g. through a forest trail at night) but it is ideal for drawing attention to you on the road, and can be seen from a long way off.

I highly recommend these lights. Buy and you won't be disappointed.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Very good headlight and taillight for budget, April 13, 2011
By Gokhan (Auburn, AL USA)
I searched over the internet about the headlight and taillight for my new road bike. Since I don't want to be smashed by a car while riding at night. I'd like to find a good product with a low budget.

Pros:
Headlight in blinking mode is really great, any car driver can see you from miles away.
Taillight is also good with a lot of different blinking modes and normal mode.
Headlight is also easily being seen from left and right because of the white circle around the headlight.
Cheap.

Cons:
Button at the headlight is not easy to push, probably you do not want to change it while riding.
Headlight is not really good in normal mode, probably you can not see distances further than 10 feet away.

I would recommend this product if you are living in a well lightened area, otherwise you can not see far away while riding.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Great light but functionality is backwards, April 5, 2011
By JC
I like the light/tailight combo however, the setting of steady on, flash and strob seem to be backwards. Plus , in order to turn the lights off you have to scroll through each one of the different settings from strob to steady in order to turn them off. In my obinion, the lights should come to steady on first and not the other way around. Not strob, flash and then steady. And as I said you have to cycle through each setting to turn them off, you can't just hold the button down to turn it off, you must cycle through each setting and if you don't hold the button down long enough after the steady setting you have to cycle through the settings again in order to reach the turn off point. Overall still a fair price for a fair light.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Bicycle Indicator Lamps, April 27, 2010
By Egemen Izci (Montreal, Quebec, Canada)
This couple of lights for the bike are good so far (after a month of use) but apart from the battery life, the front light is much stronger with three blinking options unlike the rear light which has two. Anyways, overall this couple of lights are a bargain! Hope they don't let me down in the middle of a dark road!

Front light is OK. It is a little loose. But it is bright. The back light does not fit the frame. Batteries are easy to change. The bike this went on is for getting to work. I'll need to get another light for the rear.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works well for the price, August 25, 2011
By Chipcinnati (Cincinnati OH USA)
Easy to install. It's hard to verify the distance/brightness claims, but I feel safer in dawn/dusk hours with these lights attached. The push-button switch on the front light requires some extra effort to activate, but now that I've figured out how the switch sits behind the rubber cover, I can cycle through the light choices pretty easily. The rear light switches very easily.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Eh, useless to me now, December 12, 2011
By C.S. (Corvallis, OR USA)
I got this light a little over a year ago. It was alright at first. I like how you can slide off the light and use it as a mini flashlight. I never used the tail light because the mounting system did not fit with my bike, but that's probably just my bike. The light seemed to get dimmer pretty quickly, but I haven't bothered changing the batteries until now. Mistake. Unfortunately this thing is kind of tricky to put together since you need to have the correct rotation for everything to fit, and it's not clear that you have to line up everything properly. When I was trying to put everything back together, a piece got stuck and I can't get it out now. Time to buy a new light, and I'm definitely not getting this one again!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Don't waste your money, October 12, 2011
By Online Junkie (Hollywood, CA)
My review is for the headlight only, as I don't have the same tail light. The light itself has a decent even good output, but the mounting bracket is really weak. A minor bump and the bracket rail will break. I've broken 3 of them in about 2-3 weeks. I bought them at a two dollar store... I've ordered a $20 headlamp for my bike and in the meantime, I'm gonna epoxy the light to the mounting bracket until my new light arrives.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  broke easily, February 20, 2012
By Minh (San Francisco)
The head light is so cheaply made. It was hard to turn it on because you have to press the button a certain way for it to work. You can't just open it, put the batteries in and then turn it on. It's not gonna work. You have to line the parts up so that the on/off button can work. This is really hard. It's so frustrating trying to press the on/off button. I gave up shortly after buying it. the whole thing breaks easily after a couple time of opening and closing.
The tail light seemed to work fine for me for awhile until I accidentally dropped in on the hardwood floor in my house, then it's over, not working anymore. The price is cheap, but they're still not worth it. I bought a tail light for only $1.50 at a $1.50 store and it works great, lights up 5 different ways, bright, and survived a drop as well. That's the cheap that's worth more than this cheap. i rather either buy something that's cheapest of the cheap (which I won't feel bad if it turns out really bad) or something that's a little bit expensive but worth it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Inexpensive and built that way, February 18, 2012

The bike light works as described but is made of inexpensive pastic materials. I purchased two light sets and one of the front lights fell off the bike and broke when it hit the ground. Make sure you double check the security of the attachment to the bike.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Bright lights; bad mounting system, January 19, 2012

This review is similar to others in that the lights are bright but the mounting system for the rear light is not very secure. After a couple of months of street riding, the rear light fell off and is now lost. I never had a problem with the front light.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Like the lights but very poor quality = will not last, January 13, 2012
By RG (Hawaii)
Made in China as cheaply as possible = just about junk.
Within days of receipt, the on/off switch on the front light pretty much stopped operating. Oh, if press VERY hard, just the right way, it will turn on and off - but definitely not right.

Thing I don't understand on the other 1* reviews: why don't you return? If you purchase from Amazon, Amazon will pay the return shipping on defective item and ship you a replacement at no charge, OR give you a refund. It doesn't matter if the package is opened - if the item is defective you can return it. This would be advantage of buying it as sold and shipped by Amazon as opposed to other seller fulfilling via Amazon or selling via Amazon.

So, on the chance that I might get one that works better, I've returned mine for replacement......
I bought another one of these some time ago and gave to someone else - as far as I know they had no problem with it.

(BTW- the price on this item as sold my Amazon seems to fluctuate quite a bit.)

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap Plastic Junk - fell apart on first bike ride, January 13, 2012
By ScubaKay (Virginia, USA)
These bike lights are made out of the cheapest, flimsiest pastic and the worst workmanship available in China.

The package contained two lights: front and tail lights. Both were defective.

Front light: the plastic around the O-ring was chipped on arrival. It is very thin and fragile.

Rear light: fell off on the first bike ride I went on. Road bike - smooth roads - taking a moderate turn in the road - the light just fell off (and of course broke on impact because it is made out of cheap Chinese plastic)

Since the rear light was lost - I was not able to return it.

BEWARE of this manufacturer and light set. Cheap Piece of Junk. Avoid this manufacturer.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  EASY TO INSTALL -WORKS GREAT AND PROVIDES SAFETY, January 1, 2012
By Mike (Lincolnshire, UK)
I bought two sets of these lights to install on both of my kids' bikes, my wife's bike and mine. We moved to England over a year ago and there is a heavy bicycle riding culture here. I purchased all new mountain bikes when I found out I had orders to the UK for three years, but I didn't appreciate that we would be riding them as much as we are. In the winter the sun sets around 3:30-4:00 so it is really dark when my kids get home from school. These little lights make a huge difference giving both visibility and safety to my kids when they are riding around. They slide/snap on easily once you mount the ring onto the seat post and handle bars so you don't have to worry about them getting stolen or damaged if you need to remove them. The LED lights are visible for a long distance which is why I like them. I tested this out when I first installed them on my son's bike and I could see his headlight over 300 yards away in the dark on a straight road and his taillights were visible for about twice that distance.
They don't put off light like an automobile headlights so don't buy them thinking you are getting a 40 foot swath of brightness when you ride. They do, however, provide enough light that you can see the immediate area in front of you which is important if you are riding a trail in the dark. Most serious night riders will also have a head-mounted halogen light or a larger light for their bikes and won't be looking at this product anyway.

Buy with confidence that these little lights work great and will keep you and your family safe and visible.

Happy riding!

Mike

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Didn't Last, December 17, 2011
By h2o sports (texas)
They were great while they worked, but they didn't last.
I'm an 12 mile-a-day round-trip commuter.
The front light's push knob cover came off quickly. The rear light seems to drain batteries when off--actually, just now went to check on stored rear light without batteries; the terminals are oxidized[rusted] and will not turn on with new batteries I just put in.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great value!, November 13, 2011
By LionsFanForLife (Kentwood, MI)
Ok, I bought this combo about 6 months ago. I have read some somewhat negative reviews on this but I have to disagree. First of all, this is a fraction of the price I paid for my Cat Eye headlight several years ago. My Cat Eye was definitely a better light, but it also was like $40, and did not include a taillight. So for price, I would give it a 5. Durability- no complaints on my end. Both are running great with no sign of any breakage. Quality- I would say they totally do the job with the strength of the lights. The only bad thing is that the button to operate them both is a bit finicky sometimes and is probably where I see some cheapness of the item. Overall I like this setup and gave me some safe lighting for when I ride at night. just as an FYI, I ride about 20-30 miles weekly so these things have some miles on them and sit great. Oh and by the way, I saw some people didn't like the way the headlight mounted, and I personally thought it was ok, not as nice as some setups but it was fine.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Broke after two months, October 16, 2011
By kinderfaith (United States)
Do yourself a big favor and DO NOT buy this light. I purchased two units and both of them broke after a month or two of very light use. The taillight is very good but the headlight is very flimsy, specially the on/off button, which is what fell off from my units both times. Another drawback is the clear ring around the casing, which allows some of the light to shines directly into your eyes, reducing your night vision. I used a piece of black electrical tape to cover it.

The only good thing that I can say is that the beam is bright and battery economy good. But don't buy, you'll be sorry!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  I Don't Recommend, September 25, 2011
By Jose
When I read the reviews I thought I was buying a decent set, but unfortunately it sucks. When I received the package and loaded the batteries, one of the LED's blew out on the back-light, but didn't want to go thru the hassle of returning it. Also the back light drains the batteries even when not in use; I only had the NEW batteries one day and had to replace them the next which is crazy because I didn't even use it(This happened twice, then realized it drains the batteries). The back-light on this set is horrible.
The front-light isn't as bad, with new batteries it gives good light. I have noticed that it does drain somewhat, but I remove the the batteries on both lights so they don't drain(it is a big inconvenience). However, the front light makes the batteries discharge acid(greenish nasty stuff) which is not good to have.
Do yourself a favor and purchase a better set from a reputable company. This set might seem like an economical alternative, but in the long run it will.....(it won't be there in the long run)...end up costing you money. So take my advice and purchase a better set. Hope this helps.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Rear lamp good, front lamp bad., September 12, 2011
By Wellington (Twin Cities, MN)
I bought two sets of these so my kids could ride safely around the neighborhood after dark. The rear lamp is nicely designed and both worked well but I sadly can't say the same for the front lamps. One works occasionally but the other one never did. For that reason I can't recommend this product. I didn't return the items as I like the rear lamps, I'll simply find some decent ones for the front.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Tail light GARBAGE, September 12, 2011
By Dave
The taillight that comes with this set is complete garbage. I ordered two of these sets, and have not even used them for riding in the evening yet, but one taillight is already broken. It is stuck on one function, draining the batteries quickly, and constantly flashing--no way to turn it off!

Also, the other set only came with four AAA batteries, when it was supposed to come with six. If my two packs were indicative of all of these products, spend your money somewhere else!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Usability / Price Ratio deserves 5 stars, August 29, 2011
By Krzysztof Cyganik (New York)
These lights are cheap, feel cheap, and look cheap, but do what they are supposed to do - keep you visible on the road.

On the Pro Side:
- They are very easy to install
- LED lights won't drain batteries to quickly
- If they get stolen/damaged in city conditions you won't cry over substantial money loss
- Usability/Price ratio is very positive

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product for price, November 1, 2010
By BKFINEST
I bought this product to use during the occasional night ride so I don't get hit by cars. This product is awesome and very easy to install. Both front light and rear lights are detachable and have different modes such as strobe or a solid light. The front light is actually pretty bright and can be used as a regular flashlight if need be. Awesome product for the price.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Mine not as pictured - Cheap junk, July 18, 2011
By ericsf (San Francisco, California)
The pictures here show a headlight that looks quite large and says "Ventura Power Beam" on it and the rear red light also says Ventura, but what I received was a small plastic headlight about the size of a roll of quarters and a rear light, both that say "COBO" on them. They came in packaging that said Ventura, but obviously, they have replaced the brand. Seems cheap, like something generic you'd find at an outlet/dollar store. Plastic blister pack like packaging. I purchased directly from Amazon, so I'm a bit surprised. It's going back.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good price, decent product., July 5, 2011
By Gabe in Nash
For the price, it is hard to beat this combo until you actually get it. The front light has only an OK range and the mounting style is a bit of a pain in the ass with both of these items. The variety in flash patterns is all right but a bit excessive since all you really need is on, flashing, and off instead of 4 different patterns. They plastic is also very flimsy since my headlight broke not long after I had attached it.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Terrible quality!, May 13, 2012
By User
The product is made of extremely cheap quality and very easily malfunctions. The forward light is very sensitive and the slightest nudge of the lid will make it lose contact and thus rendering the device unusable. The tail light is made of even worse quality. The square attached to the red light designed to hook onto the circular bike clamp broke within a few minutes of use. It is incredibly easy to break so if you push the button to turn it on hard enough, *snaps*! Do not buy this product... do not buy this product... I am warning you now. The only con about these lights are that there are quite a few modes to choose from. But that's it.
