About Exercise Bikes
Despite the competition from trendy new fitness inventions, exercise bikes continue to be popular options for home exercise. They offer the same aerobic benefits of riding a bicycle at any time, in any weather, without leaving the comfort and safety of home. Exercise bikes don't take up much space, require little or no balance or coordination, and can provide an effective workout for all levels of users, from beginners to serious competitors. While the same could be said for a number of other types of home fitness equipment, the exercise bike is one of the few that allows you to watch television or read a magazine while you work out. For many people, having convenient access to quality exercise equipment is critical to sticking with a long-term exercise program.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  perfect bike, February 15, 2009
By coquette_brunette
I recently ordered this bike, and it was relatively easy to put together as well as small and compact. I live in a small studio apartment and I am able to easily stow this away with no problem. Also, the bike is incredibly sturdy and a pretty quiet ride. I definitely recommend this bike, well worth the money!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  If you are short, don't get this bike!, December 12, 2009
By Jusarang (San Francisco, CA)
I actually think I am better than average in terms of mechanical assembly, but it was very difficult to figure out how to assemble the tension cable. Everything worked fine after the initial assembly. However, the seat is extremely hard and uncomfortable!! In addition, for a short legged person like me (I'm about 5'3".), even the lowest position on the seat makes it pretty hard for me to reach the pedals. Also I wish the pedals would stay at one position rather than rotating all over(360 degrees). The positions of the pedals and the arm rests are too far for my height, you cannot adjust them. I am thinking about buying a gel seat cover but afraid it will just add the height. So if you are shorter than average, do not buy this bike! I should have invested a little more for better features.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Stamina 1300, June 28, 2009
By Amazon Lady (Detroit, MI United States)
This bike is perfect for someone like me who needs a low impact workout. I lost 8 pounds in the first two weeks. Assembly was pretty much self explanatory. The only glitch was difficulty attaching the tension cable end to the bracket and spring hook, but someone more mechanically inclined should have no problem with assembly. After assembly, the bike worked fine, but the LED display stopped functioning, so it may be necessary to unattach the meter to jiggle the connection wire from time to time. The seat feels very hard after about 15 minutes of workout, so I recommend a gel seat cushion. Make sure the cushion's dimensions are in the 13" x 15" range to ensure a proper fit. Other than these minor inconveniences, the Stamina 1300 Magnetic Resistance Upright Bike is a very nice addition to anyone's exercie regimen.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great exercise bike, January 23, 2010
By Eddie Ma (San Ramon, CA United States)
I got this bike 3 days ago and have used it about 20 minutes everyday. I am very satisfied with it and here are some pros and cons I can share with other people.

Pros:
- It is relatively light weight. I believe the total weight after assembly is around 48 pounds. I can move it all by myself, even go upstairs or downstairs. The good thing is that I can put the bike in a more private place during the day and only move it in front of the TV when I am using it. This is a big plus as otherwise I would need to put something in the family room.
- It is quiet. I ride it for 3 nights around 11pm when all people were sleep. It is so quiet even I don't hear much of the noise while riding it. With two young kids, and a busy working schedule, late night is probably the best time for me to get some exercise. So being quiet is almost the most important condition for me.
- The color is neutral, and easy to fit into household color scheme. I can almost put it anywhere in the house and don't feel it intrusive to the surrounding.
- The overall dimension is relatively tight. It does not take too much space while put out for exercise.
- The design is quite elegant.
- Assembly is not that difficult. Took me around 30 minutes to finish the assembling, and only one point I need to use my own tool to loosen a bracket so that the tension cable can be hooked. (something to consider to improve so that no own tools is needed).
- The instrument panel is easy to read and one button operation. (it's also a cons as functionality is simple).

Cons:
- There is no heartbeat reading. But reading available for elapse time, speed, distance and calories. It also has scan mode where the 4 readings are rotating every 28 - 29 seconds.

For something at this cost ($159), it's great. And I am sure will keep riding it everyday after the house become quite. To me, it's a great addition to my home and one step towards a healthy mid-age life.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bike, March 30, 2009
By E. Eddy (Des Moines, IA)
This bike is so easy to use and quiet enough that I can hear the television while riding. The price is unbeatable and the footprint is perfect for my small apartment.

I am not mechanically inclined and still it only took me about 2 hours to assemble - only because I reversed a couple parts. I did have to use my own small wrench in a couple of places that the supplied tool did not seem to fit.

All-in-all I am very happy with my purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for the money!, April 10, 2009
By Avid Romance Reader (Texas)
I wanted an exercise bike that I could use at home in front of the TV that wouldn't take up too much space. This is really great. The only down sides I have been able to tell is that there were no directions in the box (we had to look them up online) and the seat is really, REALLY hard so I had to buy a gel cover. I also would have liked the arms to be a little thicker and movable, but it's an inexpensive bike, so it's not going to come with a lot of comforts. Overall, it's a great value.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Junk, June 8, 2009
By Darek (Sun Valley, ID)
I bought Stamina 1300 Magnetic Resistance Upright Bike 3 weeks ago. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody. The bike is incredibly loud, after couple minutes it becomes irritating. I can hear rumbling and cracking, which makes me think the bike will break down pretty soon.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great w small footprint, July 4, 2010
By Analog2
I am a senior beginner. Putting it together and customer service are important to me.

When it arrived the progress meter was broken. After a few phone and email exchanges, it was replaced in a timely manner. They responded to email inquiries regarding status of the replacement. But if I didn't email, I'd still be waiting.

Assembly went without hitches. I assembled it using only the provided tools. Taking my time it took 45 minutes.

Tip: if you have trouble with the tension cable as another reviewer did, turn the adjustment knob to increase slack.

It's very quiet, solid, and has a small footprint.
I bought the cushion seat but don't think it's necessary.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Bearings went in less than 10 days!, May 15, 2010
By J.S. (Vermont, USA)
I bought this bike based on the good reviews, even though it has some negative reviews. I got it and my husband set it up with no problems. I was very happy with it the first 3 times I used it. (about 5 miles each time). On the 4th, it began making a clunking noise. Ten minutes into the 5th use, it was clunking so loud that I had to get off it. The bearings had already worn out! I called Stamina and they said they'd send parts but not refund or replace the bike even though I had had it for 10 days. OH, and they couldn't guarantee that that would even fix the bike. I got back on Amazon and sent it back as it was defective and thankfully was refunded. Thank you Amazon! I have since read several more reviews from places other than Amazon where people had the same thing happen. Don't buy it unless you want to take the chance of having to take it apart and send it back 2 weeks later.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bang for the buck!, February 25, 2010
By stinkerbelle (Mobile, AL USA)
I knew some assembly would be required, but I was taken aback by the seemingly small box that arrived. Nothing to worry about! It was surprisingly easy to assemble - about 2 1/2 hours. I would say, however, that I although I found the tightening tool enclosed great, the allen wrench/phillips head screwdriver enclosed was useless. Have your own tools nearby. The bike went up fast, is sturdy and tension is easily adjusted. Last, although the piece is substantial, it can be moved relatively easily from room to room.

I just wanted a bike to basically spin on as I watch tv. This certainly more than meets that requirement and the price can't be beat!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Wife loves it!, March 2, 2010
By homie23mj
I have not used this personally, I am in Afghanistan though My wife says she loves it!

When she bought it I was shocked by the low price tag. She assembled it herself so can not be too bad. She said it took her a little bit.

Given three stars because I have not used it myself yet

Hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little bike that is good quality and doesn't take up room, March 25, 2012
By Anthony Ettinger
I was looking for a light-weight compact bike that will sit in the corner of the family room without taking up too much space.

I am happy with the size and weight. It feels sturdy, and is not uncomfortable to ride on for 30 minutes. I weight 380 lbs and don't feel like the bike is going to collapse, so that's a plus!

The pedalling is smooth (magnetic resistance) and has some basic features, including pulse monitor. It's a no-frills bike that you can't beat for the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  stamina 1300 magnetic upright bike, October 26, 2009
By Lee in Chicago (Chicago)
This is a great bike and my arthritic knee really loves it. I'm 5'2" and it adjusts to my size. My only complaints are that the seat can only be adjusted at assembly and I wish it had wheels. It seems very sturdy when riding but it's light weight enough to move easily.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  So so, May 28, 2009
By badbadkitty (Brattleboro, VT)
This bike is just OK. I have ridden better exercise bikes that is for certain, but for the price i guess it will do. The seat of this bike is not comfortable at all it actually sticks up into you because the front of it curves upward. So fair warning be ready for that. Otherwise the bike is fine and works satisfactorily.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A nice basic bike for beginners, March 25, 2012
By K. Saephanh (Oakland, CA United States)
I bought this bike because I wanted an easy way to work some low-impact cardio into my life (without excuses like "I don't feel like driving to the gym today" or "It's raining so I can't go for a walk"). This bike is a great basic and affordable option for this, and I like it a lot. I do want to stress that it's a pretty basic bike, so if you're looking to get into some serious spinning/cycling, you might want something a little bit fancier. I've had the bike for about a few weeks now, here's what I think:

PROS
- Affordable and a great deal. The price is low but the bike, while simple, is nice quality and sturdy. I paid $134 for this bike with free shipping (and the bike came a day earlier than projected, thank you Amazon!).
- Easy to assemble. Every tool you need is included and my handy friend put it together for me in less than an hour. The trickiest part is probably attaching the tension wire (we needed 2 sets of hands to do that part) but the rest was smooth sailing. The directions are thorough. The multitool wrench that was included was kind of a pain to use, so we used our own socket wrench instead just for a faster job, but the included tool can do the job just as well.
- Slim and compact size, but still sturdy and heavy enough to be steady. I keep my bike in my bedroom, and I don't have much space in my tiny room but it works well. I personally don't think it's light enough for me to want to haul it around from room to room, but it's definitely manageable if you need to move it from the closet to the TV. And despite it's slim design it's quite sturdy, I am around 170 pounds and it's still a nice smooth ride for me.
- Display is simple and easy to use, and has a scan option which is nice (scrolls through the different screens automatically).
- It's VERY quiet! I work nights and come home to work out at midnight or later, and so far no complaints from my housemates. I usually watch TV while I bike and I don't even need to turn the volume very high. The bike is a smooth and quiet ride, no mechanical clunking sounds at all! I am very pleased.

CONS
- No RPM reading. This is my biggest complaint. I started trying to look up some cycling plans after I got the bike and most are based on RPM (revolutions per minute) to give you an idea of how fast you should be going, but this bike has no rpm reading (it has a miles per hour speed reading though).
- No heart rate reading. I purchased a separate heart rate monitor.
- The tension range isn't very big. The lightest resistance and the heaviest resistance aren't THAT much different, and my friend usually just cranks it all the way up to the most resistance and starts for there. I can feel the difference though, especially after 30 minutes and my legs are starting to feel the burn. The tension is good enough for me but it definitely could be improved.
- The seat is uncomfortable. It's not unbearably so, but my first few times riding this bike, I had to sit on a padded towel because the discomfort was pretty distracting. I got used to the seat eventually and now it doesn't bother me much, but for anyone with a more sensitive derriere, you might want to get some padded shorts or a seat cusion.
- The handlebars always leave my hands smelling like a tire factory with that stale rubber smell. Small complaint but it's there.

Overall, a really great bike for a really great price. Shame about the RPM reading, but at the price and for something so quiet and sturdy, this bike is really a steal. It's a nice low impact workout and there are no more excuses for why you can't hop on for 30 minutes a day, flip on a TV show, and just pedal away.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for Older Folks, May 23, 2010
By Marty (New York)
The Stamina 1300 Magnetic Resistance Bike performs well. Two persons are needed to assemble the product.

The PROS are: The bike is functional, the monitor works well and the product is the right price for me.
The CONS are: The bike did not provide enough resistance; and the seat was uncomfortable after a while. I had to put a towel to make it easier for me and I am a small person.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly What I Expected, May 8, 2010
By C. Hedgpeth (Maine, USA)
This is a decent little bike, definitely a good quality to price ratio. I'm especially impressed with the parts list in the assembly instructions. All of the nuts and bolts are itemized clearly and there is even a ruler on the page for verifying bolt lengths and diameters.

It took about half an hour to assemble the bike, not including a couple of minor snags. One of the carriage bolts used to fasten the "feet" to the bike came without threads, so I had to run to the hardware store and buy another one. This was more the fault of the bolt manufacturer than the person who packed the parts, as it was easy to overlook. I recommend using a 13mm socket wrench to tighten the nuts under the seat, because it takes forever with the included omni-wrench. There is also a step in the instructions that confuses clockwise and counter-clockwise. Again, these are minor problems; the design of the bike is solid.

Overall, I give it 4/5 stars because the speed/distance meter feels kind of cheap.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I love this bike!, March 14, 2010
By M. Shipley
I purchased this bike to suppliment my gym membership since I am a big fan of spinning, but I can only make about two classes per week at the gym. This bike is a perfect fit for my goals! It is COMPLETELY silent and that's fabulous since I like to ride in the early mornings when everyone is sleeping. The display is large, and the distance, time, and speed stats are very accurate. The calories are of course wrong because there is no way to enter your weight and read your pulse rate, but I have a stat watch I use for that information. Overall I am MORE than impressed with the purchase! I'd read some reviews stating the seat was uncomfortable, but I think that complaint is common with anyone not firmiliar with spinning. As my instuctors told me, it gets better after the first ride, and honestly, I found the seat to be very comfortable in comparison with a gym quality spin bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fun & Quiet Great Value & Simple, February 11, 2010
By Beach Bum (The Beach)
This bike is a great value. The wife is 5' tall and I am 5' 10" and it works great for both of us with a very simple adjustment of the seat. Simple to assemble. I watched the wife happily put it all together and I helped with the cable, really easy. Free shipping and it got here in record time. The seat is comfortable enough to not have to get an additional seat cushion. If you do buy an additional seat cover be wary because the manufacturer of the seat cushion does not give true measurements. We purchased the Vitesse triple gel cover but it does not even come close to fitting this bike even tho it is the one Amazon recommends. The bike itself is a great deal.

I bought this bike w/ my bro for my mom and she absolutely loves it! It is the perfect size that it fits in the corner of her room and it is very quiet so when she exercises late at night or in the morning she doesn't make a lot of noise. Overall we think this is a great (and cute!) bike and very durable for the reasonable price!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  the stamina 1300 magnetic resistance bike which i bought, October 22, 2009
By James Watts
I WAS ATTRACTED BY THE PRICE AND ALSO THE ADDITION OF THR FREE SHIPPING, AND I PURCHASED IT.
I FEEL THAT I MADE A GOOD DECISION, FOR I AM VERY SATISFIED WITH IT.

THE BIKE IS OF ABOVE AVERAGE MATERIAL, STURDY, AND WAS EASILY ASSEMBLED. I DID HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT ONE STEP IN HOOKING UP THE TENSION CABLE, AND I CALLED THE COMPANY'S CUSTOMER SERVICE NUMBER AND RECEIVED THE INFORMATION I NEEDED. THE SERVICE WAS VERY FRIENDLY AND SATISFACTORY. THE NUMBER IS INCLUDED IN THE ENCLOSED ASSEMBLY DIRECTIONS.

THE VARABLE PEDAL RESISTANCE WORKS WELL. I FIND THE SEAT COMFORTABLE ENOUGH. THE RIDE IS NOISLESS, AND TV CAN BE HEARD VERY CLEARLY.

THE ELECTRONIC READOUT GIVES THE TIME ELAPSE, CALORIES BURNED, DISTANCE TRAVELED AND SPEED.

ALL IN ALL, I'M VERY SATISFIED WITH THIS AMAZON.COM PURCHASE

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Best Purchase of the year!, February 8, 2011
By IslandSandy
I searched for just the right exercise bike and decided on this one. It was economical and offered free shipping. It arrived quickly and my husband put it together with little difficulty. The bike rides smoothly, the odometer works perfectly, and it is very quiet. I have no difficulty watching and hearing tv while riding. There is not a lot of tension adjustment and at first my husband thought it was broken.

A few notes: in a review I read elsewhere someone suggested getting a replacement seat and suggested the Schwinn wide comfort seat. So, when I ordered the bike I ordered that seat. Do not make this mistake! This bike has the seat on it and the way it is made you cannot replace the seat. What I did order that worked great is a gel bicycle seat cover that is 1 1/2" thick, 12"-14" wide and is called a "bicycle seat gel pad". It is so comfortable and makes riding this exercise bike a breeze.

Also, purchased the "Amazon Compact Reading Rack" which also fits great over the odometer console and the Bike-O-Vision dvd's which are great for watching as you ride.

I have had this bike for over a year and am still very pleased with it. I ride it several times a week and is a great addition to my exercise routine. would highly recommend this brand and think it is an excellant buy especially if you can get free shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works for me, June 20, 2010

I bought this exercise bike for medical reasons. I have angina and the doctor suggested an exercise bike as part of my treatment. I am very happy with this purchase. I do 35 to 40 minutes a day and bike about 6 to 7 miles. I have had no problems with the bike. The tension wire was a bit tricky , but once assembled it works well. Recommended .

4.0 out of 5 stars.  overall good, but..., March 18, 2010
By Lucky (AZ)
This bike is quiet, compact, and sturdy (I haven't had any issues with its' size vs. my 240lb frame). The only issue is the seat. It was painful to sit on for the first week or so- I purchased a gel seat and that was worse, so I went back to the standard seat. It actually feels better now (about three weeks later)- don't know if there's a "break in" period for the seat or what. In the end, I would definitely purchase this bike again.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good bike for the money, June 29, 2009
By biking granny (Colorado)
The bike was easy to assemble up to a point. I'm glad that my son was there to finish the assembly, because I wouldn't have understood the directions after a certain point. However, once assembled, the bike proved easy to use, quiet, and sturdy. It took a while to get used to how hard the seat is. However, I might purchase a softer seat at some time.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  So far, so good!, May 5, 2012

Disclaimer: I've only had the bike for 24 hours, but figured some preliminary thoughts might help someone looking at the Stamina 1300.

1) I put this bike together myself and I'm NOT usually good at "some assembly required." The directions are clear (with labeled illustrations) and the small parts (most of them) are on a separate cardboard - all labeled. I counted the parts and some were missing - or at least I thought so. But, reading the directions again (it always helps), some of the screws/bolts were already in place on the bike parts. Bottom line: all parts were there. I decided to stop at the point of connecting the tension cable, thinking I'd need more hands. But after a brief respite, I figured out how to do it myself. The little tool device is a pain, but it DOES work so, in theory, you won't need to use your own tools.
2) Bike is very quiet! Barely makes any noise at all.
3) Directions say two people should move the bike, but I can do it myself.
4) I'm 5'4" and had no problems adjusting the seat for a perfect fit.
5) I don't find the seat uncomfortable, but some other reviewers did. Of course, I haven't stayed on the bike for more than about 5 minutes at a time, either.
6) There's very little resistance difference between the high and low levels, but it is there.
7) Monitor works and shows time, distance, speed, and calories burned. If you're into heavy duty training and want rpms, you won't find that on this bike.
8) Price is excellent ... and since I'm a Prime member, I didn't have to pay shipping.

I'm 63 years old and wanted a simple stationary bike ... no frills. I simply will not go to a gym and I hate to exercise (at least I know that about myself and admit it freely). I'm going to start my biking "program" with baby steps and hope to build stamina as I move forward. I think this bike is just perfect for what I want - especially since it's right in my home and I can use it when the temps this summer reach 116 degrees.

After I've had it awhile, I'll write more.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  i was about to return it, but then.., May 3, 2012
By tomas
i was finally able to connect the tension cable. it turns out it was assembled correctly the whole time, theres just a very little difference between the lowest and highest resistance. (to make up for this i just use my ankle weights.)

and this is the reason i didn't give it 5 stars. but other than that everything works perfectly. it was exactly what i expected (with exception of the resistance) and i am satisfied with what i received =)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for my needs!, April 15, 2012
By Matthew B. Mendiola
I bought this to dip my feet in home exercise and was planning to upgrade to a more expensive one later on but I think I'll stay with this one!

It is definitely very cheap, but not cheaply made. I weigh in at 200 pounds and have never felt like it would give out on me. It's also battery operated instead of plugging in but I consider this a feature. It hasn't run out of juice yet and I use it nearly every day. This also means that the bike is very light and easy to store in a closet and brought out when it's in use.

The only problem I could have with it is it does not come with foot straps on the pedals, but I can fix that pretty easily myself.

If you're looking to supplement your normal cardio or are a novice to exercise I definitely recommend this bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  As Advertised, November 5, 2011
By Co-Author of THE APOCALYPSE GENE (Chicago)
The bike arrived earlier than the projected date. It was very easy to put together and it works perfectly, however I'm only 5'8" and need to put the seat at max height to get that near full extension I'm told you should have when biking. But it works great for me and my girlfriend, though we've only used it about ten times so far. doesn't hurt my knees, and gives me a a good sweat-inducing workout.

Oh, and it's hyper-quiet for those who don't want to bother others.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Decent budget bike, July 20, 2011
By J. Salvatore
This is a good budget bike. I bought it because I didn't want to spend $350 on a simple machine.

It does have a hard seat, the resistance zone could be wider, and the computer runs off AAs.

That said, I'd buy it again, it's completely silent, does burn a good amount of calories, and I don't have any rattles or problems.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  missed matched parts, November 28, 2010
By browcat (usa)
The bike did not provide enough resistance; the reason being.....the cable that was supposed to create the resistance was in fact 1 1/2" to long so that when you went to tighten the tension there was no way it was going to happen... a shorter cable should have been used... sent this item back for refund..mfg defect ...no quality control... bought
another bike Schwinn Active 10 Series Upright Exercise Bike... better resistance but bad seat.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Initial Review, September 13, 2010
By A. Neel (Crawford, AL)
After one use (over two days ago) my butt is still bruised from the awful seat on this bike. So discouraging! I've ordered a seatcover for it and will wait until I get it before I try again. The seat is large and odd shaped so I hope the seatcover is going to fit. As far as the bike itself, it is really quiet and easy to use. Plus, it doesn't take up much space. My fiance rode it and liked it very much. His tookus isn't as sore as mine either, but he was only on it for about 5 minutes. (I was on it 15 mins before I just couldn't stand the discomfort anymore.) Oh, and another review said something about being short...I'm only 5'2 and I have it on the setting second from the bottom for my height. I had no trouble reaching the pedals and even felt like the lowest setting was too low, even for me.
Overall, I'd say it's fairly what I expected for the price...it works, but needs a few comfort adjustments/investments. I'll come back and update my review if it takes a turn for the worse after I get the seat fixed.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Value for Money, July 14, 2010
By CheckItOut
This is exactly what I was looking for.
Pros:
1. Compact
2. Efficient
3. No external power needed
4. Serves the purpose of a good exercise bike
5. Light weight
6. Relatively quiet
7. Value for money

Cons:
1. Seat can be a little uncomfortable. You might consider using a seat cover
2. Can be a little noisy if you don't paddle smoothly

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Quiet but a couple of drawbacks, June 27, 2010
By Patricia E. Faulkinberry (New York, NY USA)
Seat is EXTREMELY uncomfortable. Comparing it with exercise bikes I've used in the past, the angle of the seat is not right and cannot be adjusted enough to compensate. Also, its display only shows one type of measurement at a time (distance, time, calories, etc.) and my previous bikes have shown all. Pluses are that it is quiet and does not rock.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A good buy/machine, BUT, February 4, 2010
By G. Murray
Overall, this was a good machine and very reasonable on the price especially if you can get free shipping. Had to return the first one because of a broken piece, but was Amazon handled it quickly and got me a new machine by Christmas. Construction especially fit/finish was not at all what it should be, but if one is very careful and patient with assembly, once you have it together it works pretty good. In my case I didn't want to spend $400 on a bike and didn't want to buy one used and this fit the bill. THE BAD - instructions were wrong or misleading on some critical aspects. If you aren't mechanically inclined, you may wish you got one easier to assemble.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Just what the doctor (or therapist) ordered, January 26, 2010
By jefffrane (Portland, OR United States)
Knowing my own resistance to tedious exercise, I decided I needed a bike in my apartment. I've had access to a gym at work and in the apartment complex, but having them some distance away from desk or couch was something I knew would just provide excuses for not working out. I chose this bike because it's compact, and because the price was too good to pass up. I'd seen used bikes on Craig's List that cost as much or more, and that would have required driving miles just to view.

I admit, it took days for me to unpack the bike and hours to put it together, and then it sat for a few days before I actually rode it. Now I get on right after morning coffee and I've ridden every day for the last two weeks. I can put it in front of the tv easily, but morning tv is so terrible I just listen to the radio for distraction (riding a stationary bike is BORING). It easily sits off to the side of the room when I'm not using it. Riding is a little awkward (not crazy about the handlebars) but I'm adjusting; I don't think the bike is the problem as much as my needing to find the right position.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good for beginners or relaxed exercises, not for cardio junkies, January 21, 2010
By M. Kopczynski (Hoboken, NJ United States)
This bike is lightweight, easy to move and great for general watching TV or whatever cardio. My two complaints are that (1) the resistance is not very strong (I usually have to put it at its strongest level and bike really fast to get up a sweat); (2) the timer does not go past 99 minutes. Despite this, the timer will continue to track your time and distance even if you stop for ten minutes and come back to it, which is handy in case you get interrupted.

However, it is indeed SILENT, which is awesome for apartment living. So its a decent bike for the price, but if you are a hard core cardio person, I might suggest buying a different make/model.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Stamina 1300, December 15, 2009
By R. Partee (WA)
The bike is as advertised. Easy to put together and stable to "ride".
Only drawback so far, is the seat. The seat angle could/should be adjustable - but it's not. Also the seat is very low end, hard/not comfortable. Will be looking for another seat or gel type pad/cover soon. Overall though, good value for the $$.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A Great Value!, October 14, 2009
By AegisRose (Texas)
I was very pleased with both the quality and the value of this stationary bike. It was easy to assemble (I did have a couple of screws missing and a small nick on the bike seat, but the the seller was very responsive and we resolved the issue quickly). Two people in my household use it, and we're both happy with it.
As far as the seat being uncomfortable, it's not THAT bad... Bicycle seats are not-so-comfy in general. I bought a "gel" seat to help protect my own seat and it's great.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Stamina 1300, August 24, 2009
By E. Spillane
I really like the bike. It's lightweight as described, and attested to by other reviewers, so I can work out where i want to, with a little carrying help. I like the monitor for distance and calories. I may take the suggestion of changing the seat for more comfort. But overall, good product for the price!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Decent for motion, probably not for strength, December 12, 2011
By KandR
The (refurbished) bike arrived with a tension wire that was a couple inches too short to install, so I needed to call the support phone number on the box. That was really frustrating, as I'm recovering from a broken knee, and I feel that every day of rehab counts.

5 stars for the woman who answered right away and was super friendly and helpful. She put a replacement part in the mail (for free of course), and it arrived a few days later.

The bike feels more comfortable than the one I ride at my physical therapy visits and also looks good. However, it feels a little less "solid" and well-built, and the toughest tension is really not tough at all. (In fact, before rotating the knob, I incorrectly guessed that I started at the loosest/easiest setting.)

The instructions were written in perfect English (which is refreshing), but I still initially messed up because I misinterpreted which was the front/back of the base unit, and so I had to undo and redo some steps.

The digital display has only one button and not many options to toggle through, but that's to be expected from a low-end stationary bike, so it's acceptable to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great upright for the price, January 20, 2012
By Woundgal
I cardio 90 mins. 6 days a week. I did a lot of research before purchasing. This is not a professional quality bike however it more than meets my needs. I paid $134.99, mine did not come with a foot print. But I purchased "ProImpact Elliptical/Spin Mat 36x48x6mm" and it is the perfect size. Other than my initial mechanical issue which I was able to fix I love the bike

Cons:
*The seat is not comfortable, but no upright bike has a comfortable seat. I purchased the 1-1/2" Thick - 12" Wide - bicycle Seat Cover / Gel Pad-Wide and it increased the comfort but certainly not like a recumbant bike seat.
*However as one other reviewer shared the bike after about 5 uses developed a loud clunky noise and I could feel something inside the mechanism "knocking" on something. So with my husbands help we took the cover off, this was not easy and required a lot of wiggling. There was nothing wrong with the magnet but the other side has 3 round "washers" that hold the mechanism together had become loose. With some difficulty my husband tightened all 3 while I pushed everything together. We replaced the plastic cover with much difficulty and reattached the petals and I have had no issues with the bike since.
*I am 5 ft 6 in. I have the seat on the highest setting. My leg length is 32 inches, the seat may not accommodate someone taller

Pros:
*I have a "Polar FT60 Women's Heart Rate Monitor Watch (Purple)", so the only piece of LED data that I need is the distance rode. The time monitor seems accurate as compared to my watch, I just have to trust the distance.
*The bike was very easy to put together and I had no trouble attaching the tension cable, but I asked my husband for a second pair of hands to connect it.
*It took less than 30mins to assemble.
*I find that the resistance is good I can easily get my heart rate into all 3 zones (per my watch).
*I thought the petals would be a problem as there is no strap, but it has proven to not be problem.
*Very compact and doesn't take up much space
*Very quiet
*Very light
*It seems very sturdy when I am on it. I cannot comment how sturdy it would be if someone in the 200 lb range would find the bikes sturdiness

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect bike (for me), May 11, 2012
By Dave
I live in an small apartment and so space is limited, this bike is so tiny that it can be tucked in a corner under the coat rack and people didn't even notice it there... but it is also very useful because it makes little noise and has light resistance that allows you to pedal continuously for a long time until you are sweating and your legs are burning. Some people may think it has no resistance at all, that is not true. I purchased this for a family member with injured back, my first complaint was that it was way too weak, but he told me that the rehab bikes are all low resistance like this. So I've started a routine on it also, and I can a assure you that after about a month of use it does have a big effect (although exercising on it may be boring because of low resistance).

Other than that the bike assembled fast, and was packed with plenty of padding and foam. So even though I got the main box that looked like it was dragged behind the shipping truck, all the contents were in perfect condition. The seat is kinda hard, but comparable to gym bikes, and I am 6'4" tall and has been tried by people as short as 5'5" very comfortably, it adjusts well, although on the high side my legs don't stretch, so 6 feet tall seems to be the design limit. For the $130 price this bike is a no-brainer.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  well worth the price, May 5, 2012
By jay bird (staten island, ny)
I purchased the bike 10 days ago. I had knee surgery and it had not been healing as well as I hoped. I had limited space but wanted a stationary bike. Since using this bike the knee has been getting better. It is small but does the trick. Assembly was easy enough - about an hour. It is quiet and gives a good "ride". The only minor downside is that the seat is kind of uncomfortable - but then again, I'm plopping down 230 lbs. on it. I would recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The Real Deal, April 20, 2012
By K. Bowman (Far North East Georgia)
The perfect regular old exercise bike. I wasn't looking for anything fancy or one I would have to plug in just something regular from the past and this it.
It was easy to put together and very light weight. The digital readout gives me all the info I need to follow time, miles, calories, and speed. Simple and just right.
