The PR-150 is GREAT!!, October 8, 2008
By natalie and savannah's mom (riverbank, california, usa)
|
|
This is my 2nd bike trailer, the first was an Instep brand. I hated it! I returned it- the main reason was the seats were TERRIBLE! My daughters were basically suspended from their crotches by the time we got done with our first (and last) ride. So the most important feature I was looking for when finding the Schwinn PR150 was comfortable seating...with which I am fully satisfied. These seats are big and cushy with comfortable harnesses.
Other reasons I am happy with this purchase:
-Easily converts to double stroller (includes wheel- no need to purchase seperate kit)
-Cool updated look- a little newer than most trailers
-Comes with zip-off weather protector
-Storage area behind kid's seat
-Large storage pouch on the back
-Large storage and cupholder thing on handle (when used as stroller)
-Very easy to set up
-Very easy to convert from trailer to stroller and bar that hooks to bike folds under nicely.
I would definitley reccommend this product. It's worth the extra money and the quality surpasses the Target one I originally bought. I also looked into Burley, Ive heard good things about them, but decided on this because it was about a hundred bucks cheaper and came with conversion kit.

Dangerous Tow Bar!!!, April 15, 2010
By mom of 8 (milw, WI)
|
|
I was so excited to get this trailer, it had everything I was looking for. All the design features and included extras seemed way too good to be true for the price. I researched like crazy before choosing the Joyrider, and couldn't wait to get ours. It came at the end of March 2010 and we used it every day for 2 straight weeks. I have 2 year old twins who very quickly fell in love with our bike rides together. Everything was going along great until a few days ago when our tow bar BROKE. It didn't just break, it actually fell off of the trailer because of faulty hardware that was used to assemble it! Please be careful, this was not just a fluke accident, the nut and bolt that were used to attach my tow bar to my trailer were not able to stay joined because the bolt was too short. The reason they used such a short bolt was to accomodate the swivel feature of the tow bar. Who cares about swiveling and stowing a tow bar that can fall right off???
I am so thankful that this happened while I was in my driveway and NOT during a commute with my children. Please take this into consideration. I did a full review with pictures and full details here..... [...]
I really wish that I would have come across a reveiw like this when I was doing all my research, most of the reviews address very minor concerns in comparison to actual tow bar DEFECTS.

Nice Ride for Kids, March 15, 2009
By Joshua B. Wager
|
|
My husband and I read the reviews on this bike trailer/stroller and decided to give it a try.
When I got it in the mail it was VERY easy to set up; I think I only had to put the wheels in and open it up. My son instantly climbed in and sat there as happy as could be.
It is too wide to fit in regular sized doors. The wheels are easy to pop off (push of one button), and if you take one wheel off you can fit through any door.
The swivel wheel works great, however it does rattle a little when trying to jog with it, so I recommend also buying the jogging wheel attachment separately if you plan to use this as a jogging stroller.
The reclining seat is not much of a recline. It is leaned back a little but your child is still sitting up fairly straight. It is NOT a 5 point harness, which would have been a little nicer.
The one major complaint that I have about this thing is that I cannot fold it down. It is supposed to be an "easy one hand shut" and I cannot get it shut for the life of me. I don't have enough hand strength to squeeze the button down as far as it needs to go to get it shut. I have tried using my thumb, palm even both palms when squeezing the button and I can't get it shut. My husband has no issues, but I can't do it which is very disappointing because now I can't bring this anyplace by myself.
The cup holder does come off easily so use caution when using this. It is attached with just a hook so if you go over any bump it might fly off.
There is not much room for storage.
The seat is padded for the children which is a nice feature.

Stylish and Easy to Use, April 6, 2009
By A Customer
|
|
I bought this one because I admit I liked how it looked. I looked at some in stores and this is the only one that had padded seats. I am not in shape right now and bought this so I could get in shape. Most of the reviews complain about the weight. Honestly I didn't even notice it behind me (I rode for 40 minutes with no problems.) It turns extremely easy, both directions.
I love that it comes with a stroller wheel and that the tow arm tucks neatly away in stroller form. (I always thought it looked tacky on other trailers when you could clearly see it was a trailer turned stroller with the tow arm in front and tiny wheel to convert to stroller.) It is very easy to convert back and forth.
I noticed that others say it is too big to fit through a door. Yes it doesn't fit with it open but if you fold it (much easier than removing the wheels as other reviews have said) then it easily fits through. I just fold it, carry it out to my bike and attach it. That is another nice thing it folds so it can be put away easily.
Both my girls love it. The only problem we have is when we stop and they want to keep going.

Works very good and looks awsome!!!!, August 15, 2008
By Kate Rojo (Chicago, il)
|
|
This trailer is very easy to use and very nice to pull, for all those that complain and are giving a bad rate, because the trailers are hard to pull specially in a hill, what are they expecting, you will be pulling 50 to 130 pounds depending on your child weight, of course it will be harder, but in the same time better, the more resistance, the more workout you will be doing, it is a great stroller-trailer and it looks great!!!!!!!!!!

Great bike trailer and stroller, October 8, 2010
By C. Wood
|
|
We have used this trailer for 7 months now and we love it! It rides smoothly, turns easily and is comfortable for the kids. It is a big trailer/stroller, but you don't notice that when pulling or pushing it as a stroller. We have pulled our kids MANY miles and it is a nice trailer. When pushing the kids in the stroller you have to hold it back sometimes because it just glides along without much effort. This stroller would be big to take inside somewhere. For an outdoor stroller/trailer though it is great!
Positives:
-It has "hard" seats (not the hammock/sling seat).
-You can take the seat pads out to wash them.
-Large wheels make it glide (especially when using it as a stroller).
-Opens and closes easily.
-Nice storage space in the back.
-Has drink holders (just be careful, they can fall off easily).
-Nice swivel wheel for using as a stroller (I have used it to run, but the wheel wobbles a lot. I saw another review that said you can buy a jogging wheel for it on the Schwinn website).
-Easy to take all the wheels off (to fix or to fit through a door).
-It has 3 positions for kids to sit in (if you have just one kid they can sit in the middle).
-The seat reclines. It doesn't recline very much though (your kids are still sitting up most of the way).
I keep it in the recline position all the time so they aren't sitting up at a 90 degree angle.
-It has a mesh cover to keep rocks from hitting them (though mud still gets in!).
-It has a plastic cover for when it rains.
-There is a mesh window at the back that helps air flow through (I keep mine open all the time).
-Adjustable handle. I am 6' and my husband is 6'2". This stroller is VERY comfortable to push if you are tall. My kids can also push it though because they just move the bar down.
Negatives:
-The seat seatbelt/straps are too tight to fit on my 3 year old (they are not long enough).
I really only have that one complaint (the straps). My husband and I have both really liked this
trailer/stroller. I would highly recommend it to anyone. I found a great video review on youtube as
well that showed how to set it up, use the swivel bar etc. We love this trailer! Hope this helps!

Great but a parachute, March 7, 2010
By N. Corrieri (USA)
|
|
The bearings are great, this pulls easy at low low speeds, and the quality is very decent.
We originally picked this because it folded flat with east. Burley seemed like kind of a pain to shrink and stow.
The bad side is unlike the burley, there is no mesh behind the head. It is a gigantic parachute, and much taller than the burley, intech(instep, whatever); so at 15mph or so, this is really really tiring.
Yes, we all bike to work out, but it would be nice to make from one town to the next without giving up and throwing in the towel 1 mile out. Plus biking into a head wind.. forget it.
Yes, its cheaper than burley, and great quality, but they need better ventilation. Perhaps it wouldnt be so bad with the plastic up, but my son loathed how it looked and felt trapped when we put it up.
The mesh holes are large as well, so fine sand sprays him. I have seen some with a splash guard in the middle lower section, this would be a very good idea.
If you biked 5-8 mph, roads, etc, not bad at all. However if youre up in the 20s on your gears, not so great :)

Broke within a few months.... Terrible Customer Service, November 27, 2010
By Fairplay Co
|
|
This stroller has a lot of benefits for sure despite the fact that the straps are way too small to fit around my daughters waist. I thought it was well worth the time and energy to sew extra fabric on the straps to extend them. The stroller worked great for Fairplay, Co since it is so windy and snowy here. Too bad I can not use it. If it only had structural integrity. Within a few months the stroller was completely useless due to a break in the frame which held the front wheel on. A piece that was welded on (very bad weld I must add)completely broke off. When I confronted the company they wanted pictures.... So I took time out of my day to take photos, upload them, and attach them in an email. Michelle from customer service was quick to send an email back that she received them and would send them on. Here is her email.
Hello,
I have your pictures and I will send them on.
I will let you know something as soon as I hear back from her , please allow her a couple of days.
Thank you,
Michelle
I did not get a response for over 2 weeks so I decided to call. Michelle told me that I needed to destroy this stroller. So I said... How would you like me to destroy it. She said well you can set it on fire, take a sledge hammer to it, some have even run it over. Then she said... Once I receive photos of the destroyed stroller I will issue you another one. I could not believe my ears. I could totally hurt myself in the demolition process not to mention that it is illegal to burn it, and if I ran it over I could hurt myself or my vehicle. I also could not imagine the look on my little girls face if she seem me do any of this. So I called the company and spoke to a rude person who said.... Well this is the policy. I don't believe it says that in the handbook. Why can't they send me a new one.. take my credit card #... I will put the old one in the box and send it back. If they don't get it then they charge me. This is really out of control! I NEVER take time to write reviews so obviously I feel pretty strong that I will not buy another ANYTHING from Pacific Cycles/Schwinn again. I still do not have this resolved and I hope to in the near future. Sorry but I would not make this purchase.

Impossible to get new tires!, June 9, 2010
By W. Worth
|
|
I love this trailer but the tires are garbage that can't handle a year of light use. Making matters worse, for some reason Schwinn decided to use a weird proprietary tire type and they are impossible to find replacements for. So what they did is make a great trailer that becomes useless as soon as the tires wear out, and they wear out very quickly.

it was ok, February 18, 2009

Thought this looked londer and taller than others but it must just be the shape that gives the illusion my son was too tall his head touched the top and when you opened it it would hit his head he is 4 but pretty tall for his age. I saw that people complained about the weight but thought I'm not a wimp and maybe it would help me shape up I was so glad when my son wanted to turn around and go home after a mile. Also it was pretty wide would not fit out my front door. It was well made, just wish it would not been so heavy I mught have kept it for my daughter.

Not just a 5-star complacent review, July 8, 2010
By lkazoku
|
|
As many other people here, we have been thinking about buying a trailer for some time and were looking at various. In the end, after much hesitation and asking the kids by showing pictures, we ended up buying the Joyrider. I must admit I was feeling very excited and a bit uneasy at the same time, because a few well pointed facts in the bad reviews left me this gut feeling...
We have been using it daily for several weeks now, and there are some of those bad points I want to address to reassure worried parents :
. The storage space is not so small, as long as you don't store bulky things
. The weight... of course it adds to the overall weight but it is really not that bad unless you are way out of shape.
. The front wheel, we did not have the rattling problem yet, I would expect it to rattle if I started running around, but this is not a jogger.
Most important things about safety, I read somewhere that this particular trailer is very dangerous if the bicycle falls. This is not true, as any recent trailer (including dead cheap ones), the tow bar has a kind of mobile joint that handles this perfectly.
Final point : the belts. I read people complaining about the belts. It sounds like they were being listened to : the Joyrider we received (beginning of June) does have two 5-point harnesses. No short straps or transverse belt for two.
In the end we are really happy about it, and glad we waited until now to have an even better product. The kids don't feel claustrophobic as they would in a different design, and it is even possible to use it as a stroller until you get to the plane at the airport (provided you remove the wheels when packing at the boarding gate). Feel free to comment if you want to ask something.

Schwinn bike trailer stroller (2009), September 21, 2008
By angela karasti (oak harbor, washington)
|
|
When we bought this stroller we were convinced it was worth the money. We thought it would last, and would be perfect for our toddler (and soon, baby). In the end, it wasn't the right choice for us, but it might be for you. It does have it's pros and cons...
PROS:
-beautiful, and comfortable
-lots of extras (cupholders, storage, easy fold down, adjustable handle, great harness system for toddler)
-easy to push, husband able to pull on bike
CONS:
- too big to fit through our house's doorway, and some stores (wheel has to be taken off)
- too many zippers (in our case most important zipper was broken; w/o it the weather protector is useless*)
- too hard for me to pull (we live in hilly Oak harbor), if you're in shape that shouldn't be a problem though
Besides the stroller, we had a problem getting a hold of the seller. Amazon definatly helped alot with that. They resolved our issues, and made it their concern.
*For us almost $400 was too much to pay for something that could be ruined so easily.

Not safe, March 27, 2010
By DPL
|
|
I just purchased, looked at, and returned this trailer and I cannot believe all the great reviews. Yes, for a stroller it is great. But that is all it is, a stroller you attach to your bike with a fancy littel canopy. Well, let me ask you is that little mesh canopy going to protect your child if the bike falls over or in a worse case an accident. If you look at the picture or watch the You tube video review of this trailer you will see there are no steel bars on the sides or on the top. I know this makes the stroller look nice and open, but it seems very unsafe. In an accident your child would be completely vulnerable. I don't even know how this is a trailer. I mine as well go attach my jogging stroller to my bike and go off riding. Please think twice about safety of this product before buying.

Disappointed with the quality, September 12, 2010
By Eric

I was excited about using this as a bike trailer and stroller and after some light use on the road as a stroller only, the front wheel started rattling and it is now unusable. Now I have to find out how to get this thing repaired. I used it once on the bike for about 30 minutes and about a dozen times on the road near my home and then the wheel went bad.

Be aware that the seat belts may be too small for your child!, May 13, 2010
By Nabber
|
|
It seems that Pacific Cycle and Schwinn dropped the ball on this one. They had a great product that filled the gap between the cheap uncomfortable and basic trailers and the high end $400+ versions. Sadly, it appears a claimed design change dramatically changed the long term value equation.
The problem with the new version of this trailer is that some (if not all) seat straps for the 2010 model are now too short to fit even ONE average sized toddler! After over a month of calls and discussions with Pacific Cycle customer service, I was ultimately told that a design change between the 2009 and 2010 model included SHORTENING the seat belts! They suggested I return it as this trailer is being discontinued and there will be no new models with longer belts.
As I unfortunately discovered (and others have commented on), the waist straps will NOT fit a toddler weighing anywhere near 50 pounds (as specified) and in fact, the one I received would not accommodate a waist size greater than 23 inches! For a trailer that is rated at 100 pounds for TWO children, this was an unacceptable and unfortunate change.
Again, I was told by customer service this was a deliberate DESIGN CHANGE on the part of the manufacturer. I was also told (as mentioned above) that the trailer was supposed to be discontinued last year (2009) but a production run for 2010 was done specifically for Amazon. I can only conclude that Schwinn or Pacific Cycle does not want to produce and market a mid range trailer and instead focus on low-end versions.
Feature-wise I felt this trailer really had the best bang for the buck. Ventilation, shading, seat comfort and and ease of entry was excellent and it served perfectly as both a stroller and trailer due to the design of the fold under trailer arm. Had it actually been able to accommodate up to the specified 100 pounds, I anticipated being able to use it for the next 4 - 5 years. Storage space was a bit limited but adequate for tooling around town with kids in tow. Quality of material also was very good with a fine attention to detail (zipper placement and features). Even the seat belt design was easy to use with the ability to unclip the shoulder straps allowing for easy and quick entry/exit. Sadly, the 'too short waist straps' were a deal killer as my children would not last a season in this trailer.
In summary, this is a great trailer for young small children (1 - 3 years) and will work well for that scenario. But at $300 that translates to $150/year and really if you have that much disposable cash, you would be better served by spending the extra dollars on a high end (Burley or other) that will provide a longer lifespan.
Ultimately (and reluctantly) I returned mine for a refund.

First trailer, great choice, July 14, 2009
By Rebecca Ramirez (Northwest Indiana)

I don't have anything to compare this trailer to as it is my first purchase for one, but I have to comment on how light it is despite how large it seems. My niece (age 6) and nephew (age 2) fit very comfortably in it. The screen is nearly panoramic and gives the kids a nice view. Would recommend to anyone!

Best value I could find, and surprisingly good, July 13, 2009
By Dan Galbraith (Traverse City, MI United States)
|
|
We already had a BOB Dualie double stroller when I found myself wishing I had looked for a bike trailer that could double as a stroller. I researched all the major brands.. Chariot, Burley, Croozer, and this one just seemed to be the right balance of price and quality. I have not been disappointed. The rear wheels are bigger than my BOB and the front wheel is a nice, solid size - about the same as the BOB. That makes for a good stroller - we love the BOB, but this rates right up there.
I have not complaints on the quality of build, although I do wish it were aluminum or composite - it appears to be steel, and slightly heavier than it should be. But I don't really notice it - the wheels make it a breeze to tow or push.
The accordion-style bug guard is a genius design - no zipping in and out every time like the other trailers. It just clasps at the bottom and lifts up when you're done. The kids love it.
The seat is great - nicely padded, not flimsy sling-style.
The tow bar is easy to attach, and the hitch was a snap to mount, especially if you have a quick-release axle.
Reasons for it not being 5 stars:
- no sun screen unless you use the weather guard, which is plastic and inhibits ventilation. i may have to jerry-rig something.
- I would like to have a divider between the kiddos like the Croozer. however, the shoulder straps adjust nicely to having a single kiddo in the seat, where they can sit in the center. Impressive design there
- the stroller won't fit through an average single-door like my BOB does. Fortunately, it's easy to take off a wheel.
- It needs a better place to store the strolling wheel - I'd rather not take up space in the cargo pocket.. AND it needs more cargo space as well.
Aside from those things... perfect. Especially since it is literally half the price of the Burley and Chariot, when they are outfitted for both bike and strolling/jogging. If I had bought a Chariot, I would have tried to sell my BOB to help fund it. With this one, I may not even have to do that, keeping them both.

Please be aware of short straps!!!, June 23, 2010
By Aim (Alaska)
|
|
I loved this trailer/stroller (other than the constant shake of the front wheel) but had to return it because of the short straps. It is listed for 2 kids up to 50lbs each but the straps were too short for my little 25lb 3 year old. I talked with the manufacturer and they said that somehow the straps got shortened on them recently and there have been a lot of complaints. They said somewhere down the line they may be able to find a way to extend them, but I sure don't see any way they could. I was very disappointed, and hope to keep others from the same disappointment if you are getting this for older kids. I wish it were different...

only for very little kids, March 29, 2010
By unhappy (Oregon)
|

I'm very disapointed! I have a two year old and an infant. I was so excited this product had all the features I wanted in a trailer and a stroller. When I put my two year old, who is a big kid (38 inches tall and 40lbs), there was no way the lap strap could fit comfotably around his lap, and it does not ajust any bigger! In fact, at the longest length, it fits my 17 lb infant perfect! I called Schwinn about this issue and they said they have had no complaints. I find that hard to believe because I found a few on the internet already. Can some one please tell me if I'm crazy and my kids are just gianormous, or if you are having the same issue! I irritatedly have to send it back, and start my research all over again to find ther perfect trailer/stroller combo! Good luck to those of you who have very little kids. The joyrider is great for them, but as a stroller it will not fit through a single door way, so you have to take one wheel of to get it through!

Great trailer, some minor design issues, June 7, 2011
By Gadget Boy (Toronto, ON Canada)
|
|
I bought this for my tall 3-year-old because most trailers don't have enough headroom, or -- a common complaint, apparently -- he ends up suspended by his crotch and/or a bar sticking in his back.
This is a well-built, well-designed trailer, and given its size, I find the weight acceptable. The wheels run smoothly, and I didn't hear too many complaints during a stint on a bumpy road, so they seem to provide a reasonably smooth ride. The description is not specific, but the "ribs" of the cover are metal, so if the trailer were ever to tip over, there is a metal frame all around your child (I was worried they might be plastic). The rain cover is great, and the top-most panel is clear plastic with a zip-in sunshield, so the trailer has good airflow while keeping the midday sun off your child's head.
I have a few design complaints, though:
> The brake pedal in the back sticks out and the trailer rests on the pedal when it's folded and vertical. I'm worried that over time it will break.
> An elastic band and button to keep it folded? Come on, Schwinn/Instep -- get real! Give us a proper metal or plastic clasp to keep it closed for storage. And while you're at it, give us a handle or something to hold. I'm a big guy, but this thing is a beast to move around folded and put in storage.
> Maybe 2 inches narrower -- as another reviewer indicated, this is a wide trailer and cannot fit through many doors. It's because of the need to fold this trailer to get it around that I'm complaining about a handle/clasp (above).
> The velcro in the back pockets (where the front wheel is stored) could have been wider so the pocket doesn't rip open when the trailer is moving.
> A better mount for the bicycle -- I don't like the idea of a frame mount held on by my wheel's quick release skewer (that's designed to hold a wheel in where most of the work is done by gravity -- it's not really designed to pull 100 pounds). I would rather see something I can bolt on the frame/chainstay for strength.
These are more annoyances than "flaws", so I still give this product 4 stars.

Could not be HAPPIER!, April 11, 2011
By JKaar100104

After a TON of research - this is the one we purchased. We wanted something that the kids (3 yrs. and 18 months) would be comfortable riding in both for short periods of time and longer outings. The reclining aspect of this trailer is what sold us. We couldn't be happier with our decision.
The kids love it!! . Plenty of room for both of them, cups and books. The kids love all the canopy options. DH and I love the cup holders, adjustable push bar (DH is 6"5") and storage options. Smooth ride, practically rolls on it's own. Strong easy locking brake. 5 point harness is easy to use.
Had it installed to a stroller within 5 minutes of taking it out of the box.
Switching from stroller to bike trailer was so easy, I wasn't sure I did it right. :) (But I did)
Kids love the trailer just as much as the stroller option and it is so easy to pull.
Would highly recommend this product.
**Did I mention that the kids love it! ;)

Ok Stoller/Trailer for very, very skinny kids (size of 1 yr old)!, March 25, 2010
By A. Gray (Milwaukee, WI)
|
|
UPDATE 4/14/10:
So disappointed! I returned my tailer bought on Mar 25th and reorder a new one in hopes the waist straps would be bigger. No such luck! I will be calling the company again tomorrow. I need this trailer because of my very tall son...doesn't fit in any other trailer except the Trek, which they don't make anymore. I'm hoping they will let me use this trailer until July when the problem should be fixed. If not, I'm not sure what I'll do. So frustrating to find a nice trailer only to have the most important feature barely useable. I guess this isn't an isolated problem as Pacific Cycle thought it might be. I encourage ANYONE with this problem to contact Pacific Cyle at 800-645-5806. I personally was working with Trisha, but they might have added more Reps being this is becoming a major problem. If they don't come up with a fix...I'm seriously thinking about contacting the BBB!
Update 4/9/10:
Rec'd call back from Pacific Cycle about the straps. They tested a trailer they had and indicated the straps were too small also. They tried to come up with a fix to the solution, but didn't have a quick one to fix mine. They were very helpful in assisting me. I ended up returning the trailer to Amazon and order another one. I'm hoping the straps will be ok on the new one. Pacific Cycle thought it to be an isolated problem with only a few trailers since hardly any complaints. If the new one is bad I will return it and wait until July 2010 when the problem will be fixed for sure.
UPDATE! 4/7/10:
PLEASE CALL Instep/Schwinn Customer Service at 800-645-5806 if you feel your waist strap is abnormally small! I just called on 4/7/10 and they indicated they don't have alot of complaints yet, but are looking into the small strap issue. My children are only in the 10th and 50th percentile for weight compared to height and this barely fits them. We need everyone's help in order for company to see this is a very real problem.
I have now used this as a bike trailer and it pulls easily. I'm very out of shape after having my twins...I had no problem going up hills with adjusting gears. I do want to complain about the length of the waist strap though....VERY small. My son is very long and skinny...only in 50% percentile for weight and this strap barely fits with jeans. I did use it with a coat and had to pull coat way up because strap wouldn't go around light weight spring coat. I'm very disappointed in this because it offers so much room in trailer for taller kids! I will be contacting Schwinn today about this issue!
Also, when I went for a long walk using the stroller wheel it was awful. It would wiggle back and forth just going over normal side walk sections. This isn't good as a stoller with wheel provided, but I didn't intend on using it this way.
Overall, I'm only going to give it 2 stars because most people buy this as a trailer and what good is it if the straps arent long enough. I do have the latest 2010 model too!
I love my Trek GoBug..which, sadly they quit making :(. It had lots of room for big kids and very generous seat belt length.
I would suggest if you can find a used one..buy that instead! I need 2 trailers and thought this would be a great option...sadly mistaken.
Original Post:
I just received my Schwinn Joyrider today! I order it with the FREE Super Saving Shipping. The trailer was so easy to put together...open box, remove trailer, take of packaging material, and snap on 3 wheels! The trailer was packed very securely and did have a little bit of new plastic smell to it. I'd suggest opening and airing out before using. I used it today for a walk only because too cold to bike in WI in March. The stroller was very easy to push and felt light weight even though it weighs 32 lbs. I'm used to pushing a tripler stroller though. The bench seat is very nicely padded and offers child a comfortable place to sit unlike the trailers with the hammock style seats. The crotch strap does have a padded piece to protect child from strap rubbing (nice for boys#. The seat reclines somewhat, but not enough for a very young child. There's alot of storage behind seat and in back with velcro pouch. There's also plenty of leg and head room for tall kids. My older son is 42 in tall and still has plenty of head room #at least 3in). The handle bar adjusts into several different position for added comfort. It's extremely easy to fold with just a push of a button.
The only minor things that I've noticed are the straps are hard to adjust. I would definetly suggest doing this before going out for the first time. I also didn't receive the velcro straps to attach the parent bag to handle bar. There is a little metal hooks to hang it from though. I've read without the velcro the bag can come unattached while riding. I guess I'll be contacting Schwinn to see if I can exchange the bag for the newer style.

Excellent Choice, April 3, 2011
By Amber H

I am so happy that I splurged on this trailer. When I first started looking for one I thought a plain one would be just fine. After reading several reviews for the Joyrider, I decided to go ahead and purchase it. I am very satisfied with this trailer!!! It is (as so many others have stated) very roomy and comfy for my year old. I detach it with ease when he's not with me and it takes just a few seconds to attach it when he goes along. I didn't expect my son to get so cozy that he fell asleep but he did and I don't have to keep checking on him and his positioning. I know that he's safe and cozy in the seat. I did have to buy two of the seatbelt grabber things (I'm not sure what they're called) but they are soft and wrap around the shoulder harness because the ones that come are very rough. Other than that, I can't think of any other complaints or concerns. This trailer lets a good breeze come through without any mosquitoes!!! Just in case you're out in the rain, simply attach the velcro slicker like material on and the kid won't even get wet. I go pretty fast while I'm riding and that's no problem either with this trailer. My boy falls asleep even when I'm turning corners or hitting uneven pavement. It seems to be a really comfortable ride. Again I'm very very very pleased with this purchase! I've seen a few of the lower end trailers and they don't hold a candle to this one. Worth the extra money because it appears that it will last through the years.

REVISED: I now LOVE this trailer!, March 25, 2010
By A. Gray (Milwaukee, WI)
|

REVISED REVIEW on 3/25/12: I had many problems in the beginning with this trailer, but the company has worked through them and it has changed my opinion on this trailer. I've owned mine for 2 years now and it has held up and performed well for us. The wobbly wheel doesn't exist now that my twins are 33lbs each. It seems the heavier weight of them has helped out. The trailer is still very roomy for them even when they are both 40 inches tall! When pushing at a walking pace the trailer stays straight and you don't have to correct it. It pulls behind bike great, but recently made husband start pulling it. I can pull trailer and 70lbs of kids. Plenty of storage behind the seat to allow us to carry lunch boxes and jackets for a picnic. Very visible at night with reflective stripping. Durable quality as we don't even have a tear in the screen material after using it a lot over 2 years. The tires have held up very well and haven't needed replacing. Seat cushion washes nicely if something get spilled. Most of all I like that it collapses with 1 hand! No need to disconnect bars and set up just to transport in car or store in garage. It also hangs great from back axle while being stored in garage.

Schwinn Joyrider Bicycle Trailer, July 7, 2011
By Giles D Strickler (Alexandria, VA United States)
|
|
I have had this bike trailer for about a year now, and although I don't use it as much as I had hoped, I am pleased (overall) with this purchase.
Pros:
- sturdy / durable frame and most materials
- easily collapses and easily converts from a bike trailer to a jogging stroller
- big enough for 2 children (might not be big enough for two large children though)
Cons:
- seat harnesses do not always stay closed (this is one of the items that feels, and performs, cheap)
- terrible as a jogging stroller due to the front wheel. anything above a walking pace the front wheel oscilates / shakes, preventing the stroller to move forward.
I give it 4 stars as a bike trailer (its primary purpose), but as a jogging stroller I would have to give it 2 stars for the simple fact that the front wheel does not allow for speeds above a walking pace

Gives you a nice work out, April 25, 2011
By Brett (Columbia, MO USA)
|
|
I've got 2 girls one aged 2 and the other an infant at almost 6 months, and it works pretty well for them. One issue is with putting helmets on the girls, though because the seat is tall and it makes it a little hard for the younger one to hold her head up properly. A towel behind their backs helps, though.
Before I purchased it, I was a little concerned because some of the reviewers complained about the weight. But I think they just weren't strong bike riders and didn't know how to properly change the gears on their bikes. I have a 15 year old 21 speed mountain bike and I really don't have a problem at all. Sure it takes some work to pull this up a big hill, but that's the point of a bicycle, to get some exercise.
The other thing you might read is how some users have issue with the front wheel. I've noticed that the wheel does have a little shimmy, but it's never gotten any worse. Although we don't take this on long walks much, since the girls prefer their wagon for walks.
My biggest disappointment with the stroller is that it's about 2 inches too wide, so you can't easily take it to a mall or someplace because it's usually too wide to fit through the door. You can take a wheel off, but that's an awkward pain in the neck. If I didn't have a Toyota Tundra pick up, I'm not sure how I would fit it in the trunk of a car either. You'd probably have to take the wheels off to transport it

Great bike trailer - bad jogging stroller, March 19, 2010
By ChoosyMom
|
|
I have had this trailer for a year and a half now and have used it many times for biking, walking, and jogging. I like how roomy the inside of the trailer is. I wish it did have helmet pockets because wearing a helmet inside is very uncomfortable for my child. It is a bit hard to connect onto the bike (sometimes I have to get a hammer out to get the piece to slide through the holes on the connection piece). Once connected, it glides well.
The first time I took it out for a walk/jog the front wheel bent and was unusable! I was just walking across the street and the wheel hit the gutter and it bent the wheel. I wasn't even jogging or being rough with it. I called Schwinn and they were very unhelpful. I had to wait 9 months to get a replacement! Moral of the story - be very careful when crossing the street or going over any kind of uneven surface when using the swivel wheel. I got a jogging wheel in the meantime and it is very difficult to use. It doesn't stay in alignment and I was constantly having to realign. I had to stop jogging not because I was tired but my arms were from readjusting.
Overall, if you are wanting both a bike trailer and jogger I wouldn't buy this model. If I had to go back, I wish I would have gone with the other trailer I was looking at the Croozer.

Exactly what I wanted, September 14, 2008
By Amy

I pull my 2 kids in this and it is perfect! Super comfy for the kids and really easy for me to use as a trailer or a stroller. I have received so many comments/compliments on the trailer from other parents when they see us out in it. Before I purchased this, I did a lot of research on the various brands. I'm really glad that I went with the joyrider trailer.

Great Trailer, July 1, 2008
By Victoria Penick

I love this trailer. It gives the kids plenty of space and the swivel wheel in the front for the Stroller can turn on a dime. The one down fall is that it is sooo roomy that it makes it hard to get through doors if you are bringing it into shops. Other than that we LOVE our Schwinn!

great BUT..., February 25, 2012
By Gerry Burghardt
|
|
Overall this is great. We bought this for it's double purpose, as a jogger and as a bike trailer. A few things we don't like...the pin that is inserted as a backup if in case the canopy pops open doesn't stay in very well, it can fall out easily therefore defeating the whole purpose. We wish it had a sun protector that could attach to the top to protect the little ones from the sun providing some shade. It's very well ventilated though it does have drag since there's only a very small mesh opening in the back but it's BEHIND the seat so not much air gets through there. Our biggest complaint is the front wheel. It's a total joke! It wobbles just like some of the other reviews say. Even at a regular walking pace...wobbles. Run...wobbles. We ended up buying a separate attachment wheel to use instead made by Instep...too bad Schwinn couldn't think of a better solution. Also, our zipper on the parent pouch was broken, I plan on letting them know. Other than that...we're happy with it.

I love it, my husband loves it...but most importantly, my kids love it!, July 12, 2011
By Fischer (NY, USA)

|
I got this trailer because I wanted something sturdy and roomy. It is both of those things. It is made of heavy-duty canvas and we've had it (and used it) for more than a year without ANY issues. Everyone compliments its looks and the conversion to stroller feature is handy and provides for a smooth walk. This trailer is for casual riding (not racing) as it is heavy and causes some pull on the bike. But I am a small person and can pull this around the neighborhood and on flat trails with my kids weight (60lbs total) without issue. I didn't give it 5 stars because it's HEAVY, the stroller wheel wobbles when I try to jog, and the buckles are a bit finicky at times. But now that my kids are older, I only use the lap belt portion and there is a jogging wheel that is sold separately.

I LOVE my Schwinn Bicycle Trailer!, June 2, 2011
By ChereEo86
|
|
I absolutely LOVE my Schwinn Bicycle Trailer!!! This is my second summer using it and the ROI is fantastic. I've used it as a stroller and as a bike trailer. Here are my thoughts:
Stroller:
Pros- The mesh netting is so nice to have with pesky insects. I can take my daughter out in the evening and not have to worry about being attacked by bugs! The stroller is easy to push and maneuver, even through grass. I use the stroller when I walk with my friend and her two sons. They walk on the sidewalk and we going off-roading in the tree lawn. The seat belt can be easily adjusted and accommodates one or two children.
Cons- When being used as a stroller the front wheel sometimes spins and vibrates. I am looking for a jogging wheel eliminate this.
Bike Trailer:
Pros- Heavy duty material and construction!! I looked at a few different trailers prior to making a purchase and the was a huge difference in the quality. Once your familiar with how everything works it takes less than a minute to hook up to the bike. It is also very easy to go back and forth between trailer and stroller "mode." The trailer comes with a flag! I must have assumed that all trailers included one but I have seen quite a few go through the Metroparks without... maybe they left it off? The flag, in my opinion, helps drivers see the trailer. The material is also highly reflective.
Cons- When I originally purchased the trailer my daughter was 1 - 1 1/2 and when she sat in the seat her helmet would push down on her forehead. To correct this I used a support pillow I had in her car seat for long drives. This year we don't have that problem.
Despite the minor annoyances I still give this product 5 stars! Safety and quality truly make this stroller/trailer amazing. I would highly recommend making the investment.

Love it!!!, April 6, 2011
By brandiioliver

I really like this item. The only thing I dislike is the front wheel rubs on the fabric underneath the carriage and sometimes the wheel doesn't turn back around. Over all though I love the size of it and I love that it has a break for the wheels. Most bike trailers don't. It is so easy to put away as well. The wheels come off easily and it is easy to fold down. I love it!

Great, but for less than 2 years, January 20, 2011
By drcall81
|
|
This bike trailer has all the pros that are listed by all of the other feedback here - no need to remind you. We had a couple of issues with this trailer during its 2 year life - R.I.P.
First off, we lived in a small-ish apartment and I would carry the bike trailer (folded up, wheels still attached) up and down the stairs to our apartment. The little elastic that holds the trailer folded wore out very quickly (surprisingly quickly - actually).
Secondly, the stroller part. The wheel that comes with the stroller was really a pain. It worked best if I had two heavy children in the stroller and the front tire really deflated. So, I bought the jogging wheel attachment. Didn't work for our trailer. The connection fit and everything it's just that it was not stable. While trying to walk (or jog) I would constantly have to tilt the trailer back and readjust the trailer to point forward because the front wheel would veer the trailer constantly to the left. I'm talking about a distance of only 20 feet before a tilt/correction was needed.
Thirdly, we had an issue where one of the wheels suddenly wouldn't lock into position anymore. This was after about one year of light use. I figured out that one side favored the "unlocked" wheel so I always kept it in that configuration to avoid future headaches. The wheel never seemed to come off so I figured I had it solved, until last Saturday when I was out riding with the trailer attached and the wheel just flew right off, the bike trailer hit the ground pretty hard causing a startle to me and my children.
If I hadn't had all 3 of these issues, I would probably chalk it up to worn out and buy a new one. With only a 1 year warranty on non-frame parts, I'm left to throw this $375 stroller away that lasted me 20 months.

More than pleased, September 17, 2010

We were looking for an affordable bike trailer with decent quality. The articulating canopy is far superior to many trailers in a much higher price range. We know it will keep the kids dry in a driving rainstorm in that we were trapped the very first time it was used. Couldn't be happier.

Nice Baby Trailer, June 17, 2010
By "Larry" (IL, USA)
|
|
We are quite pleased with the two baby trailer. Construction is solid, everything works well. Connection to the bike is simple with the spring-loaded coupler that allows you to orient it in almost any position to connect with the bracket you must mount on the rear axle of the bike.
In terms of the comfort/fitment factors:
The seat belts are a little bit messy, but they hold our little guy in place fine.
The seats are padded nicely and keep our fussy guy content for an hour ride.
The canopy works nicely with all it's screens, zippers, latches and velcro. However the zippers are subjected to quite a bit of tension which wants to pull the zippers apart. I suspect this may prove problematic over time with worn out or broken zippers. The canopy itself is massive- it's like towing a big bubble cart.
The folding operation of the trailer and the hitch bar work nicely. It's easy to fold and stow the trailer (guys will likely have to handle this for the wifey, as the trailer is a bit heavy and unwieldy) and the hitch bar is simple to stow & operate via the clamp attachment underneath, and the hitch pin bracket at the front.
Conversion to a massive dual stroller is easy via the pushbutton front wheel install. It doesn't get any easier to remove or install. Push a button and the wheel assembly basically falls off.
All told I think this trailer is a solid value. Not cheap, but not crazy expensive like some of the others. I'd recommend it to other potential buyers.

The perfect combination, April 29, 2010
By T. Green
|
|
This is the perfect trailer for us, and we've been through a few to find the perfect one. We are very active people. We love to walk, bike and run. This stroller does all of the that in a highly functional way. Almost all the trailers we looked at designed for 2 kids had horrible seats. Our girls were very cramped and uncomfortable. This bench style is perfect for comfortable bike rides or easy in and out at a museum or the zoo.
Transitioning from one function to the other is super easy. There are no tools needed and the bar for the bike is stowed underneath so it's not a separate piece you have to remember to bring. For an additional $50 you can buy the larger fixed front wheel for jogging (I personally don't like a fixed wheel when running, but my husband does).
Another perk is the easy with which it folds and can be stored. The back 2 wheels come off much easier than most and the frame folds with one hand (with a little muscle).
The only, I mean only, thing we don't like about this product is the weight. It is pretty heavy.
We looked at high end products like Chariot that serve all three functions ($800-$900) and like this one much better!

4/15/10: I guess I really will be returning the bike trailer. I'm super sad about it because I just like this trailer so much! I called CS and they said that they just heard about the short seatbelts last week and the engineers are working on trying to find a way to fix or replace the straps. however, they have not come up with anything yet and are not sure how long it will take to figure out something.
4/14/10: I just received my Schwinn Joyrider Model 13-PR150 today and put it all together. It was a cinch! I was very excited until I put my nine month old son in and the seatbelt fits him just perfect at the max length. He's only nine months. I was really expecting to use this bike trailer for at least a couple of years, but with the way it fits, I'm afraid it would only last this summer and that would definitely not be worth it.
Is there a fix for this? I really do like this trailer and would really like to use it, but if it will only fit my son for this summer, it may not be worth it for me to keep. I did send an email to customer service regarding this and hopefully I do hear something soon. I am anxious to figure out if I should keep it and make as much use of it while I can (if there's a fix, unless of course, I have to send it back to Amazon for a replacement that does have normal length seatbelts) or send it back and find another one.

Seatbelt too Small, For Very Smal Children Only, March 31, 2010
By C. Feldhacker
|
|
I would recommend buying some other product if you want to use it as a bike trailer. The seatbelts on this trailer are too small and my children who are 16 months and 3 years can't fit into the seatbelt (both of them are 20% for their weight). I called their CS and they told me that there is nothing they can do and that I can find extensions for it online. I think it's a flaw.

Absolutely love it and very much worth the money!, July 7, 2009
By Stacy

I spent many weeks researching MANY bike trailers and I am ever so happy with this decision/purchase! I have a 2 1/2 yr old and 11 month old and live in an area with no sidewalks, but many beautiful state/county parks, so I wanted a trailer that was both comfortable for the boys and safe! I didn't like the other trailers because they offered a sling-type seat. This Schwinn offers a regular seat (with removable cushion for easy washing!) and a lap seatbelt with optional shoulder harness! I love the bug shield because it not only keeps the Maryland Mosquitoes out, but also any debris that my rear bike tire kicks up (including mud!) I have biked on main roads, grass/dirt/gravel roads and muddy wooded trails with absolutely no problem!
The only thing about this trailer that I did not like too much was the removable handle bar compartment. It kept falling off and while using the trailer as a stroller in Disney last week, the compartment actually broke off... so I will need to rig-up a new camera/water bottle holder!
We received MANY compliments in Disney and Williamsburg when rolling this 'limo of a stroller' around the parks! Just a side note... this stroller does not fit through the front gate in The Magic Kingdom, however the side tire pops off with no problem for a quick and easy entry! I would highly recommend this to anyone!

Excellent!, May 30, 2009

Love this trailer. The padded seats are great, it is so much more comfortable than many other trailers on the market and half the price of the chariot. I would say this is the next best thing if you can't afford a chariot. It pulls easy, is built very well, attaches to your bike with ease and I love how the screen locks down b/c my daughter is an escape artist. I put my 10 month old and 3 year old in it and they loved it. My daughter thinks it looks like a space ship and feel so special getting to go on a space ship ride! Great product, would highly recommend.

Awesome!!, July 5, 2010
By djramey

I bought this after trying one of your run-of-the-mill bike trailers from a friend. My 4 year old son's head was brushing up against the mesh on hers, and my 1 yr old was slouching really bad because the strap between the legs was too far away. This trailer solved both their problems! It is wonderful! I love it!
It takes some getting used to because I am pulling an extra 80 pounds of weight between my two boys and the trailer, but a few bike rides later and I am already used to it!
This trailer is so comfy for my boys, and makes a great double stroller for long days or full day trips to places like fairs, carnivals, and amusement parks. My 4 year old never uses a stroller anymore, but it is nice to have some where to put him if he gets tired or keeps wandering off, during those long all day outings! It is very padded compared to the other average trailers on the market.
The Joyrider was SUPER easy to put together. Actually, all I had to do is put on the wheels. Connecting it to my bike wasn't too bad either. Just have to take off one nut, put on the coupler, then put the nut back on.
I would HIGHLY recommend this trailer! It is a bit bigger than the other ones out there, but your children are riding in comfort. My 1 year old's head does not just flop forward when he dozes off. The seat reclines just a tiny bit, which is enough to keep his head up and not flopping forward when he falls asleep.
My only complaint is that it does not fit well through most standard doors. I can get it through mine, but it takes a little of proper angling. I live in an apartment building, and I have to take my bike and the trailer/kids down the elevator separately (same time, but not connected). It is too long to fit down the elevator together. It is worth this small inconvenience though!!!

90% Stroller, July 19, 2010
By Hell

|
For me the Joyrider will be about 90% stroller and 10% bike trailer. Just got it last week and used it over the weekend for my 23 month and 7 month old. They loved it! The one thing I noticed right away is how smooth it is to push. After using traditional strollers for 5 mile walks with the kids I couldn't believe how easy this pushed. That would probably make a big difference when pulling with a bike. The built in bug net is a huge plus as well. I am also amazed at how easily that side and front tires come off. The only thing they could make better is a mirror right behind the front wheel so I could see the kids. I'll try to install something like that myself.

It is exactly what they said it was., September 20, 2010

I purchased this trailer for my grandaughter who is 17 months old. I looked at several reviews for many different trailers but this seemed to be the best. As a rule I don't buy things on line in case there is a problem. The trailer came in and it was exactly what they said it would be. Easy to assemble, only needed one tool to attach the bracket for the tow bar. Rides great, (took the dog since my grand baby wasn't with me. He loved it.) Easy to pull not too heavy. Lots of room. Great looking. I am very happy with this purchase. Gia will try it out this weekend that will be the ultimate test. I'll let you know what she thinks.

Great stroller., April 9, 2009
By EA (Idaho, USA)
|
|
This stroller is great! There is tons of storage. It is very comfortable for my children(my 10 month old sleeps in it all the time). It is very easy to put together. It just barely does not fit through some single doors, but I just pop a wheel off and fit through fine. I LOVE having the weather guard because I can go out on a windy chilly day and the children are still toasty warm.
There was a problem with the stroller that Amazon sent me, but I contacted Schwinn and they were very courteous. There is a five year limited manufacturers warranty and they do stand by it. It was really a no hassle experience to get things worked out, besides that I had to be patient and wait for the new stroller to come.
All in all I love this stroller!

Love it but..., December 8, 2008
By Advid Cyclist (Philly)

I like the trailer because of the safety and comfort features. My baby girl falls asleep just about every time we go out. The problem that I have is that it doesn't always fold right a way when I press the (Red) button. Since the trailer is so big leaving it unfoled is not usually an option unless you take off the wheels. I did what I had to do and took off the wheels and wedged it through my average sized front door. My trailer is currently in the middle of my living room (unfolded) with the wheels off because I was too tired to fight with it. If anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong please tell me.

Ooohs and Aahhhhs! The Cadillac of strollers!, January 11, 2010
By CubesMom (Los Angeles)

|
I got this as a Christmas gift from my husband. Amazon was so efficient to deliver. And free shipping with our prime membership!
I can't believe how beautiful and easy this trailer / stroller is! I have gotten more than 10 praises in just one week of using it around the neighborhood. I have been using it as a stroller for now to get my baby used to it. It's soooo spacious inside, my son can have tons of toys inside. It's easy to maneuver. Though heavy, I don't feel it at all coz it pulls me instead of me pushing it!! I can maneuver it with one hand.
It's awesome that it has all you need! Stroller conversion wheel, all weather cover, parent console, convertible harnesses for one or two children. With other stroller trailers you would have to buy some separately.
I love the quality of how its built. You really know it's made to last.
It's comfortable inside that my son falls asleep within 10-15 mins of the ride.
I have tried installing it on my nirve cruiser and it's easy once the coupler is installed. However, I had to remove my rear fender coz the coupler won't fit if I don't. No big deal.
I know this will last us for a long time! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

We love it!, March 9, 2012
By alison c reisdorf

I spent days researching bike trailers for our 2 1/2 year old daughter. I finally decided that since the quality trailers are almost as expensive used as they are new, I would just purchase new. I looked at all of the top brands, such as Giant and Burley. I was worried that Schwinn wouldn't be of the same quality. I was wrong! This trailer is fantastic! It seems as though Schwinn has listened to their customers, solving the complaints of the earlier models:
I have no problem collapsing the unit. This has a true five point harness, not just one lap strap and the shoulder straps. If hauling only one child, as I do, you can easily adjust the straps so that they no longer have to be twisted at the top if your child sits in the middle. There are extensions straps available if you find them a little tight for your child, which is not an issue for me at all, as she has adequate room.
My daughter is slight for her age but weighs about 28-30 pounds. She has plenty of room for her toys, snack, drink, small pillow, and blanket. The seats are wonderful and not those awful slings. She can easily climb in or out and often falls asleep on our rides. I am a new biker and am amazed at how nicely this thing pulls. I have used it on limestone and pavement in both trailer and stroller mode. It rolls amazingly well and I haven't had any problems with the front tire rattling when being used as a stroller. I have yet to jog with it though. It is quick and easy to put together and I love how everything has a place to be neatly stored. I would have liked a little more storage in the back but there is enough for us. Overall, I am thrilled with my purchase. It was worth every penny.

The best bike trailer on the market. Lots of room for my one and a half year old and my six year old. Works great as a bike trailer or a stroller. It will not fit threw a standord door way but I found this to be a minor problem compared to everything you receive. Holds alot of extras and pulls like a dream. I would give it a ten out of a ten if I could.

I am in love with this, I definitely do not recommend this to any one that is going to use this as a stroller and you need to put it in your car if you have a small 4 door car. Its pretty big. I have a van so it works out wonderful and my grand daughter loves it. Its sturdy and the front wheel turns and the other joggers don't. I highly recommend it if your into bikes and walking.

Excellent Bike Trailer with one problem..., July 6, 2011
By bugbitesplayfood (Utah USA)
|
|
I absolutely LOVE this bike trailer. Being a 1-car family, this trailer is like my car. I use it almost daily for bike rides to the store/library/dentist etc. I can't tell you how many miles this trailer has been on, but it is a LOT! I have had it for 2 years and it is very comfortable for my 2 kids - though my 6 year old is growing too tall for it with the cover down. It follows great behind my bike & is just barely wider than my elbows when on the bike, so it is narrow enough to fit through most obstacles that a bike rider can go through.
The straps are great, and the whole padded seat is removable (velcro) so you can wash it. The arm that swivels to attach to the bike is nice, and very easy to stow underneath the trailer. I have heard that there are NO replacement wheels (eek!), which stinks, as the tires on our trailer are getting a little bare.
PROBLEM: Our trailer has a problem collapsing. The red button has somehow broken, and the right side will not fold down without super human effort (i.e. my husband). I am sending it in to get fixed and had great customer service so far.
Other than that - this trailer is amazing, and one of the best buys I have ever made. I would give this trailer 5 stars except for the collapsing problem. Would absolutely recommend this trailer!!

The Schwinn joyrider bicycle trailer is both a very easy stroller and a good way to keep in shape trailer. The trailer packs away pretty easy a little bulky though. Easy transfer to a stroller with plenty of room for 2 kids and plenty of stuff. Be careful of all the stuff you pack because it is added wait to pull and can make goin up hills a little rough on the intermediate. All in all serves purpose very well and my wife, kids, and myself enjoy the trailer.

Great bike trailer, December 1, 2010
By Reid Carlberg (Chicago, IL United States)
|
|
I LOVE THIS TRAILER! I bought it for my husband over a year ago for fathers day. Best gift I have ever given him. We have used it a lot and our now 2 1/2 year old son loves it. I used it this morning for the first time as a stroller. It worked great. I have to walk our two dogs every day regardless of the weather and today it struck me in the freezing wind chill that the bike trailer has a plastic cover that zips over the front. It was perfect to keep the little guy warm and dry! It seemed like a smoother ride than our everyday stroller. We have had great luck with it when we pull it behind my husbands Trek. All around an awesome purchase. I would have given it 5 stars but I have not tried pushing it while running and I'm sure there is something wrong with it I just haven't figured it out yet...
If I have to say one negative thing it would be that when using it as a stroller I couldn't figure out if it has a lock for the wheels for when you stop.

Great Multi-Use Bike Trailer / Stroller / Jogger, May 31, 2010
By J. Carpenter
|
|
I looked for a while at all the leading brands of bike trailers and found this Schwinn. We were also looking to get a double stroller and a jogger. And then we found this Schwinn - it functions as a bike trailer, double stoller, and we ordered a fixed jogging wheel attachment as well. While it is heavier than some others, it is sturdy and has great padding on the seat. It easily converts from a bike trailer to a stroller. The wheel 'plugs in' without any tools required. We have had a number of people inquire about it as it definitely stands out among the other standard bike trailers at the park. We would diffinitely recommend to others considering a bike trailer.

This bike trailer is exactly what I was looking for and more!!!!
Love the storage pockets that it comes with, Love the ease of use, Love the off-set angle that it trails behind because makes it eaier to see my kids, Love the space inside, there is plenty of head room, even for my tall 5 year old (who usually rides her own bikes unless I know it's going to be too much for her). Love the wheel attachment that allows you to remove the "arm" when you want to use it as a stroller, Love the way it pack down to fit into a small space!!!!!! It's sturdy, rugged, strong, the rain cover is perfect as is the net cover..... Love it!!!

Bike Trailer, April 23, 2010
By Adriana Y. (Belgium)

This trailer is unbelievable, we just got it today. It's big, comfy and very good looking.Incredibly easy to assemble, maybe the easiest product to assemble, ever and very easy to maneuver! Neighbors love it too :)).
Later edit: We used this trailer and we love it, very sturdy, easy to hook up to the bike.
Only con: straps are very short so it's ok for a very small child but our son is almost 5 and doesn't care about the straps especially that we have bike trails where we go very slow, we would never take this on the road with the rest of the traffic.

a dream to pull!, March 17, 2010
By Jill
|
|
Buy it, it will change the way you think about your workout.
I have literally had it for two days and have used it 4 times. I tried it out without my daughter and i couldnt even tell it was behind me, turning, going over bumps. nothing!
There are a few things that i just am in love with about this trailor. When going over rough terrain or pot holes, bumps, side walks, it is so smooth, it doesnt teeter back and forth, no matter how fast you go, it just fallows the ground.
Where it is connected to the bike there is a spring, so that if you fall off the bike or have to ditch it, the trailor stays up STRAIGHT! is that the best thing or what!
The way that if pulls is so smooth. i would never buy anything else, i cant imagine something that is more expensive be better, cause this is the cream of the crop.
The bench seat is FANTASTIC, it is so sturdy and wide that i can see me pulling my daughter for another couple years.
The ease in putting it together, i opened the box, pulled off all the plastic pushed on all three wheels and that was it, are you kidding! there is always more to everything then just pushing three wheels on. but it was that simple. 10 minutes. done.
there is quite a bit of room for storage, if you were going to the farmers market or picking up some groceries, its just right. i cant wait to do erronds around town and getting a work out at the same time! (for some people who say that it is heavy, thats why they made gears. and you are also putting the most important thing inyour life in it, it better be sturdy!!)

As a mother of 4 children, I thought that biking was a thing of the past for me,I have children of various ages 11,6,4,2,and a small NYC apartment. I had a trailer that my children used to whine to get out of, One that was hard to menuver and took up a lot of space and than was eventually stollen from the front of my building, because it didnt close, and than I found this wonderful product. Its comfortable for the kids(they dont like getting out)It's easy to menuver,it folds flat', easy to hitch on and off So much so that I brought the 3rd wheel to use as a stroller when I dont take the bike out. easy assembly and maintenance/(so far) love it!

Very well built, July 6, 2009
By Marian Vandenmeydenberg (Laurel, Delaware, USA)

|
My husband kept on commenting how well the buggy is built. The only negative thing about it is that some of the safety clips are so very hard to manipulate. My fingers are just not strong enough. Even my husband has to exert quite some strength and power to open and close the clips.
But it rides beautifully, and not heavy at all. A little bit of sand does manage to get through the screen when riding on the bike path here at Trap Pond State Park in Delaware. But the bugs stay out which is wonderful for our little passenger. We hope to use the buggy for many, many years to come!!

Bicycle trailer, July 30, 2009
By F. Griego (Santa Ana, CA)

Pull was lighter than I was expecting when I had my two children in it. I would estimate that the total weight I was pulling with them and the other items in the rear storage area is about 80lbs. It also seems to be comfortable for them because they have fallen asleep on several occassions while on short trips.

Very nice!, June 4, 2009
By Tom W (Illinois)
|
|
This is our families first bike trailer. I researched them fairly hard on the internet and chose this one because it came with the front stroller wheel and was less money than the comparable chariots and burleys. Many people are complaining that this trailer is heavy, but I feel that is why you have so many geers on a bike. I found a geer that was comfortable and away we went. I climbed some fairly big hills, again changing geers to facilitate the climb. We rode over blacktop, paving bricks, and gravel paths on a 5 mile trip around our town. The trailer handled everything with ease.
I also like the looks of this trailer over the others I have seen. The storage compartments are huge and everything seems very well made. The trailer came nearly completely assembled. I had to insert the wheels, which amounted to pushing a release button on the center of the hub while sliding the wheels into thier slot.
It is very wide to use as a stroller though. I had to fold it up to get it through the doors of my house. Even removing one wheel wasn't enough. I think we will continue to use our regular srtoller for this purpose. Although it is a nice option if we ride to a park we can use this as a stroller for walking around.

Clear market leader with one small design fault, February 13, 2012
By Luke Davey (Western Australia)
|
|
I have trialed two other trailers and completed exhaustive market research but nothing compares to the Schwinn. Other trailers are made by trailer or stroller brands, Schwinn is a bike manufacturer with a rich histroy in developing quality bikes and bike accessories and this shows in how well thought through this design is. This product not only looks fantastic but is very easy to use. Most functions required a single hand operation and can be done in seconds. It is roomy, comfortable, light and easy to push, tow and steer.
My only critism is the clunky hitch assembly. It is excessively large and cannot be fitted to modern bikes with smaller rear wheel drop outs (typical of most road and hybrib bikes) It requires a modification to replace the hitch assembly with a more common smaller design that is easier to use.
Thank you to Amazon for offering this product to the Australian market. Shipping is quick and the landed price is still cheaper than most inferior products available in the Australian market.

held up in the rain, August 7, 2011
By Crytal
|
|
This is a fantastic trailer and I am the envy of all my friends. Its a little heavy but I am not what you would call the "athletic type". I feel safe with the size of it though and it being red is an eye catcher for drivers as is the bright orange safety flag that comes with it. My daughter is 1 and has plenty of room for all her little toys and her friend to ride along. I did notice though that when it is folded down (if there are brakes I haven't figured out how to use them) it rolls all over. I accidentally left it outside on a fairly rainy day and to and my surprise it held up really well and cleaned up very nicely and easily. The rain cover works well. Its a little difficult locking it up if you are going into a store because there is nothing strong enough to wrap the chain around. Plus it being so wide most doors/isle ways won't accommodate it. But for a ride around town or to the park its really fantastic.

Lap belt is too short, April 30, 2010
By D. R. Rausch
|
|
I just got this trailer/stroller the other day and was super excited to try it out. It assembled quickly and easily. My 43 pound five year old son climbed in and I started to strap him in. This is where it turns sour...The lap belt is WAY too short! Even with the straps maxed out on the adjustment, there is no way it will go around his waist.
I sent Schwinn an email and asked what I could do about it. They replied and gave me a Customer Service number. I called the number, talked to a very nice gal and told her what the problem was. She put me on hold, came back and told me there was nothing they could do about it and it was the way the Joyrider was designed for 2010. WHAT? I asked about extensions for the belt, no such thing available. She suggested I get my hands on some belt material and hire a seamstress to fix it! If that failed, return it to the retailer. That's pathetic! You would think, for this kind of money, it would meet minimum expectations. I'm really disappointed in Schwinn....I expected more from them.
If anyone has other ideas about how to fix this, please leave a comment. Thanks!

This trailer is of very good quality. The only gripe i have is that its not very good as a jogger. I was expecting more for my $320.I have tried my best to aquire a fixed jogging wheel (which is said to be available) but the maker says its being made by a new manufacterer and will not be available till the end of June ..if at all. The swilil wheel will start shimmying back and forth and vibrate the canapy loose, thus not a very comfortable ride for my son. It is a vry useful and easy to use prduct and is otherwise very comfortable for my son. He ha s never complained about being in there like another trailer ive used.

Great Stroller/Trailer, August 20, 2009
By Baby mamma (Fargo, ND)

This product is great!! I looked at several others and am sooooo glad I went with this one. It comes with the stroller kit at no extra cost and is really easy to convert. It also folds down very easily for storage in a car or garage. My daughter loves it. She can see everything but still has the front cover for protection from bugs etc. Other trailers I looked at were very complicated to assemble, this one was a snap. Pay the extra money and get quality!!

too big for a one year old, April 26, 2009
By M. Bradshaw

Very easy to pull, great as a stroller and a jogging stroller but it is too big for my 1yo who is (67perc.). I have to put a pillow behind him and under him to raise him up a bit. Otherwise, the seat belt is by his ears. Not too safe!

Great if you like the trailer to flip over., November 9, 2011
By Karen Carr
|
|
I have no found any way to keep this from flipping, I let a bunch of the air out of the tires and a person doing a power walk could still pass me. It still tips over on little tiny bumps. I am terrified of what the slick roads this winter will bring.

All I ever wanted, August 16, 2009
By Elizabeth Logan

The Schwinn Joyrider is all I ever wanted. I was tired of all the strollers we had. Plus they took up to much space. We enjoy taking our girls for walks and pulling them in a trailer. I could never find a stroller that did all that. When I was told that this stroller did that and had a jogging wheel, It made the product more appleaing. We bought it and we like it. The only two problems are that the walking wheel broke two weeks after our purchase and now the wheel is on back order. Its been two weeks and still I do not have a replacement. It's a good thing that we dicided to buy the jogging wheel or we wouldn't be able to enjoy our walks. The second thing is the stroage/cup holder that hangs from the handle, we did not get the velcro to secure it to the side of the handle. Plus the instructions are not very clear. But again what products instructions are clear?

You can fix the wobble!!, May 23, 2012
By Brelywi (Hampton Roads, VA)
|
|
This can be a FANTASTIC bicycle trailer AND jogging stroller. However, yours may need a little "tweaking" like mine did in order to keep the front wheel from wobbling while running. Here's how I fixed it (takes about ten minutes):
1. Disconnect the front wheel from the stroller, that will make it much easier to work on. 2. Undo the nut from the side of the wheel, the one that's holding the "axle" of the wheel in. I believe they were 5/8", but don't quote me on that. Make sure to note what order the metal washers and rubber washers were in (nut, metal washer, prong, plastic washer, wheel, plastic washer, prong, metal washer, and bolt head, in case you forgot ;-) 3. Slide the wheel out from between the prongs. If you look up into the inside of the assembly, you should see the head of a bolt that's holding the wheel prongs into the top part, and that allows it to swivel. 4. You'll need to tighten this bolt, and this will keep it from wobbling. I don't have an exact number of turns for you, but tighten it enough so that it is as tight as possible but still turns easily. 5. Re-install the wheel (don't forget to put the washers in the correct order), and make sure you get the nut on fairly tight but not over-tight (otherwise the wheel won't spin).
That should take care of the wobble! You may have to tweak it a little to find the right level of tightness, but I guarantee this will fix the problem.
THE REVIEW: PROS: I only gave this stroller 4 stars because I did have to fix the wheel wobble, but other than that it's a GREAT trailer and stroller. It attaches and unattaches easily from a bike, it's very easy to push, the colors look great, it's very sturdy, all four wheels come off easily so you can make it a smaller size for storage, the canopy that goes over the kids locks (my son is at the age where he loves to prove gravity still exists by throwing toys out), and two kids can sit very comfortably in it. I have no problem riding somewhere, then locking my bike up and converting this to a stroller to take my kids around; the whole process takes maybe three minutes. As for locking the wheels, it only has one lever you have to push down to lock both wheels (why you'd ever need to lock only one wheel, I can't imagine). It comes with the kit to attach it to your bike (takes about ten minutes, it's very easy). CONS: The obvious issue, having to fix the wheel wobble yourself. However, that's a common problem among jogging strollers that aren't fixed wheel, but for this price I shouldn't really have to fix it myself. Obviously, it's rather bulky, but most jogging strollers are (especially double ones).
One other thing I'll mention, in the instruction manual it mentions velcro straps that secure the parent pouches to the back. Those aren't included anymore; I called. I was rather doubtful about the metal clips at first, but they seem to be holding up and I haven't had a problem with them coming off.
If you have any questions about the fix, please comment on this review and ask; I will be happy to answer them as I do monitor my past reviews.

Great stroller and bike trailer, but not for jogging at all., April 28, 2012
By Lorissa Eichenberger

We went off of the majority of the reviews for this product over the past year. My husband took it for a jog immediately after taking it out of the box and assembling it. His exact words afterwards, "I will never jog with this again!" He said the front wheel shakes so much it was difficult to keep the stroller under his control. Disappointing that this is not meant for actual jogging.
However, this is a fantastic off-road stroller that is easily controlled while walking or extremely slow-paced jogging. It also works wonderfully as a bike trailer. Both of our kids LOVED the big, comfortable seat (17 months old and almost 4 yr old). It is also great that this stroller comes with the accessories that most other strollers do not (mosquito/sun shade that covers entire seating area, parent tray/storage, adjustable height handle, and a rain-proof cover).
Luckily, we found a gently used double jogging stroller also by Schwinn locally for cheap, and it has none of the "shaking" front wheel issues. My husband ran with it today and said it was 100 times better than the new Joyrider one for jogging.
We are keeping the Joyrider since it is a great stroller and bike trailer, but it's a shame the advertised use as a jogging stroller is a complete fabrication of the product's ability. Do not purchase this if your main intended use is for jogging.

Love this bike trailer!, April 5, 2012
By Christina Steele - Schneide.. (Omaha, NE)
|
|
I have 15 month twins and they are comfortable in the trailer for 20 miles plus bike rides. I sold the old burley and love my schwin!!
The positives:
The seats are comfy
The wheels are sturdy along with the fabric.
Lots of storage, no large storage area in the back like the burley, but more up front with the girls and extra attachable pockets.
It converts to a great stroller for walking with the swivel wheel or you can go to instep's site and order the jogging stroller.... NO MORE NEED TO HAVE 3 Strollers around the house. I use the jogging attachment for running.
The most space I've seen in any bike trailer by far for the girls.
The girls can climb in and out - the top cover clips and and locks so when we stop I just unlock and open it and then can step out on thier own. This might now seem like a big deal, but with twins and being tired after a ride it was such a relief to just unclip them and let them get in and out as they wish (and get to thier snacks)
Easy to assemble.
Self storing attachments (can switch from bike to jogging on the fly)
Easy to attach/detach to your bike.
The negatives: I know its hard to have both, but it would be nice if there was an option to have more sun coverage when needed and less when not. The rain and wind cover is nice, but you still need more shade on days you don't need the plastic cover. I am working on a velcro home made sun shade for the longer rides beause I don't think there is enough sun shelter, however the burley (only sun shelter was on the side, no shelter from the top) was worse and I had a homemade fix for it too.
No side pockets, the girls use to keep thier sippy cups in the side pockets of the burley, I went and picked up one of the clip on cup holders at baby depot and use it instead, but I do miss the side pockets.
The burley made sharper turns, you have to be careful when turning right.

Handles well but beware of pouch!, March 31, 2012
By Kmack
|
|
Just took his trailer for for it's maidn voyage... Handles beautifully. Could hardly tell it was there. Look curbs well and even some mild off roading. I was extremely impressed!
However!
Got home to discover that the pouch which we packed with both sets of our truck/house keys, brand new iPhone, and wallets fell off without notice during our travels!!!!! Sosososo lucky a good Samaritan found it nd answered my cell after I broke into our house and was able to start calling it fom the landline. Beware!!! Noticed upon inspection of th pouch once t was back in our possession that not only did the hooks undo, but part of the pouch is already starting to tear... Don't trust pouch or pack it heavy at all... It wasn't packed that heavy (1 water, one wallet, one phone, 2 sets of keys). We won't be using/trusting it again...

Do not buy this as a walking/jogging stroller, March 19, 2012
By Fast Walker
|
|
I bought this stroller to use a a walking/jogging stroller and a bike trailer. It looked great! However, I couldn't walk 1/4 mile with it because it shakes and wobbles so bad. I walk at a fairly fast pace, usually about 4 mph and I couldn't walk my normal pace or even close to it. I didn't even hook it up as a bike trailer. Seems like it would pull nice. Doesn't work at all as a stroller because the front wheel swivels. Would need to be fixed. Called customer service and complained and they stated, "Well of course it shakes, it has a swivel front wheel." Disappointing. It's going back.
