Combining massive ventilation, svelte weight, and high-tech comfort features, the Bell Volt Bike Helmet has 11 frontal vents direct the flow of air via the helmet's custom-sculpted Composite Fiber Intakes (CFI) and internal StreamJet Ventilation channels. Designed to be used on- or off-road, the Volt's removable Variable Position Visor (VPV) is well suited to the rigors of road racing as well as cross country (XC) competitions. Rearward exhaust ports and the moisture-wicking X-Static padding work in tandem to help keep the rider cool and dry. The Volt is made even more comfortable by Bell's new Twin Axis Gear (TAG) fit system--an evolution of the highly acclaimed GPS fit system--which allows riders to both dial in the exact fit as well as adjust the mechanism's horizontal position on the back of the head.
The Volt's removable variable position visor. |
Easy adjustment with the Twin Axis Gear fit system. |
Channeled Ventilation Specially designed ventilation channels on the interior of the helmet's liner bring cool air in through the front, pass it over the head and flushes warm air out of the rear ports. The Volt features deeply sculpted channels that keep air moving whether you're bombing it at 30 mph, or huffing it uphill at single digit speed. Internal Reinforcement In order to maximize venting and minimize bulk, high-end helmets like the Volt now feature internal reinforcements. These composite skeletons fortify helmets the same way rebar makes concrete stronger. This allows for bigger vents, more advanced styling and lighter weight, while still meeting stringent safety standards. GPS Fit System For a glove-like fit, nothing beats Bell's exclusive Geared Positioning System (GPS), which delivers the ultimate one-hand adjustment for superior fit and comfort. Simply turn the dial to click in to the perfect custom fit.

Great Helmet!!!, March 11, 2009
By The Bike Guru (Brisbane, QLD Australia)

Excellent Helmet!!!! Great Ventilation!!! Light!!! Superb Fit!!! I have tried numerous helmets and this is the best so far - comparable to Giro's top helmets. It is also cheaper. Best of all is that it has a removable visor which allows the helmet to switch between off-road and on-road use. IT IS A GREAT HELMET FOR THE PRICE ON AMAZON.COM (and free shipping!)

Nice lid for the road, June 24, 2010
By youngblood (Outside of DC.)

There are great helmets, there are so-so helmets, and there are total crap helmets. This one is in the great-awesome category! I mostly do road cycling, with a bit of mtn. biking when I can get a break from the city. I'll keep it simple: It's light, tons of vents, fits my head well (although the front pad feels to be a little snug)and the design is super sweet! I got this from Amazon almost 40% off, so it a was awesome deal. Just get one, you'll be super cool (literally)

High doller but almost worth it, December 21, 2008
By Joe A. (SOUTHERN, CA United States)

|
A little pricey for a bike helmet, but out of all the helmets I have owned in the past, the Volt is the best so far. Works well for both the road and mountain.
4 stars instead of 5 because of price.

Volt helmet, March 13, 2011

The main thing I wanted to know about these helmets was how thick are the pads. Well they are pretty thick and I DO NOT like thin pads.

Well Vented Helmet, November 12, 2010
By Matt
|
|
The volt is a solid helmet with abundant venting. Helmet adjustments are a snap when going from summer to fall (if you wear a head warmer). The down side to the helmets are two fold. As compared to other road bike helmet manufacturers, the Volt is a little heavy. Additionally, padding is sparse on this helmet and, depending on your head shape, you may find a contact point on the crown of your head that doesn't include any padding. Otherwise, this is a well ventilated helmet with many adjustments to fit most any head size.

Great helmet, November 4, 2009
By M. Rogers (Austin, TX)

|
Fits great and has tons of vents so you get lots of cooling, which is crucial here in Texas. I got white to further help with cooling and it also looks really good (as much as a helmet can). The price was great - I think it's just as good as the Giro Ionos for much less money.

Best choice, May 12, 2010
By A. Rienzi (Wisconsin)
|
|
This is the best helmet for the money, hands down. Previously i had a bell sweep, which was nice but after a few seasons and multiple changes to the pads inside i decided to upgrade. the volt is super light, very easy to adjust, and the ventilation is superior to other helmets i have tried.
Note that bell and giro are owned by the same company, so they have analogous product lines, but they do fit a bit differently. i would recommend trying them both on or sticking with the brand you currently have(assuming it fits well)

Volt Helmet, April 13, 2012
By skimace7

I like the fit of the volt and the colors are great. the only reason this helmet didn't get 5 stars is the straps that come around my ears will not sit flat on my face. No mater how tight I make them or loose, they fold onto their sides. I am hoping over time they will. Otherwise love it.

Great value., April 5, 2012
By Roberta Riot! (Orange County, CA USA)

Now, just so you can have an understanding of my perspective, I ride competitive road and have previously owned a Giro Ionos.
Helmet comes with a removable visor. A VISOR. Toss.
It also comes with an instruction manual and a sticker. I give this helmet a 1/10 for swag.
Onto the real nitty gritty--it's a slick design. When I was a noob I hated helmets because the lower end ones looked like hulking dork rocks. Well, like most higher end helmets, this baby has more innovative solutions to deflecting impact than the massive styrofoam inner and cheap clamshell-plastic outer of said dork rocks. That's right playboy; higher grade plastic outer and composite skeleton. In the end it feels a tad heavier and less solid (concluded by using my highly scientific "knock on it" test) than my ill fated Giro Ionos, but anyone who's looked into both understands there is a bit of a design/materials chasm between the two. If you roll super duper nasty savage you're probably tired of hearing endless conversations with the word "carbon fiber" (even if you do love it, and I assure you I do), so I'll save you a reiteration here. But you should know...this helmet doesn't have it, and you can tell.
The "twin axis system gear system project bureau" or whatever fits just like Giro's Roc Loc: awesome. If you have an incredible mane like me there's also enough room to run your pony tail through just above the dial.
Remember how I was talking about swag earlier tho thug? Well, here's where it's relevant--my Giro lid came with a half-cap you could use on the inside of the helmet to block the air vents during colder conditions, and it came with an extra set of padding thingies. Pretty sweet, huh? Of course not. You want that instruction manual and sticker. AND VISOR. OH THE VISOR.
So what it came down to was I didn't want to pay ANOTHER TWO HUNDRED(or so)DOLLARS for another high end Giro when in the end...a good impact will do em' in all the same. But I'm good with what I paid for. Really. Because I can still use the extra pads and winter liner from my Giro.

Bell Volt Bicycle Helmet, September 8, 2011
By Trek biker (Flower Mound, TX)
|
|
The Bell Volt has a great fit and a very easy adjustment wheel in the back to tighten/loosen. It allows for plenty of air flow to keep your head cool on hot rides. With the good Amazon prices, I went for the Volt rather than the Sweep. The design is very much alike, but the Volt has a reinforced carbon fiber band in the top-front. Hopefully I will never have to find out if it is worth it.

Super, fantastic., August 16, 2011

Very light, breathes easy, and fits comfortable. My first "high end" helmet. Couldn't be happier, plus it does double duty (with detachable visor) as a mountain bike/road bike helmet.

Fits light and cool, July 28, 2011
By E. Iverson (Beautiful Springboro, USA)
|
|
This helmet is replacing my clunky and heavy Bell Ghisallo helmet. This Volt is quite light, and stays snug thanks to the multiple adjustments available.
My head measurement was right at 23.25 inches, and so I gambled on the medium size. The Ghisallo was a size large, and that seemed to lend to the clunky/wobbly feeling on my head. The medium size fits perfectly well and there are no "pressure marks" on my temples after wearing it for awhile. The vents are quiet, but bring much air over my head.
I have a red and black Kuota K-factor tri bike, so the red and black helmet scheme coordinates just right. (The helmet colors are of a matte finish, just so you know)
In closing, may I say this Amazon price was by far the cheapest for a Volt helmet,(by at least 50 dollars) and I'm very satisfied with its light, yet secure fit!
I'm hoping I won't be testing its impact abilities, though!!

Great Buy, October 23, 2010

I'm new to cycling; yet can tell the difference in the quality of products. This helmet is well made and it has the Saxo Bank team color scheme which is the same as my bike. It is light and provides great cooling with ample air vents. And, the price, don't think I would have found such a helmet for a better price.

Good basic helmet, December 28, 2011
By Ace
|
|
I got this helmet because I have owned Bell in the past and found they fit my head very well.
For the most part I am happy with the helmet. The only thing I have to complain about is the weight! This is suppose to be the best one they have but it is just as heavy as the cheaper Bells. It vents very well and I like that but if your looking for a light weight Helamet move on. Im looking onto lighter ones for my next purchace.
I would recomend this Helmet for the venting and a all around good unitand comfort. However I am looking for a little lighter one and more race ready.

form & function, December 1, 2011
By GregOK
|
|
This is one of those items you hope you never really have to 'use.' Bearing that in mind, I have to say it's as elegant and well-designed as any helmet I've ever owned or tried on from a form and aesthetic perspective. If helmet foam didn't degrade over time, I'd buy a couple more to hold me over into the 2020's!

Light and cool, November 7, 2011
By Chemnitz (Northern Minnesota)
|
|
After my old helmet was beginning to smell like a science experiment [even after going through the dishwasher] and was showing signs of UV degradation, I did some research. Turns out that some of the pro teams include this helmet in their rider's kits. Their feedback continued to return to airflow and weight. The Bell Volt is so light you forget its there. Heavier helmets make ther presence known on longer rides. The air flow is excellent: even on hot, humid days. Instead of sweat running down into my eyes when hammering a hill, and a soaked liner afterwards, everything stays surprisingy dry. [All of the liner strips are removable so they can be washed occasionally] You can spend another $75-100 on a Giro and get your choice of cool euro-graphics, but you won't get lighter weight or better ventilation.

Good helmet but....., August 19, 2011
By JAM
|
|
I received the helmet with a badly damaged box and half open. When I opened the box the visor that should have been included was not. I contacted Amazon four days ago and have not heard anything since. After just trying the helmet on at home it fit good and I would give it at least 4 stars for fit. Unfortunatly, my whole purchase was not included.

Well ventilated.....but that's it., May 25, 2012
By Thomas A. Ertman (Missouri)
|
|
I bought this to replace my cheap ill-ventilated Bell helmet that I bought at Target a few years ago. As far as keeping my head cool I would say that it definitely does the job quite well. As soon as I picked it up I realized that it weighed the same, if not more than my old $30 helmet. Sure enough, after checking the labels I did find out that it was 100 grams more than my old helmet (I wear a size large in both models)
The rear adjustment knob is pretty handy and allows you to snug the helmet in after you have it on, but the ear straps have a somewhat bulky plastic buckle on them that drove me crazy until I adjusted the straps so the buckles were under my jaw line. Quite honestly I expected a little better quality for the money. The helmet pads are sparsely Velcro'd, causing them to shift in the helmet whenever I put it on so I then have to take it off, adjust the pads back and then put it back on.
Lastly, I did not receive a visor with my helmet despite it being clearly depicted with one. It would nice if they either fixed all the pictures, or did some quality control before shipping.
As far as general comfort goes, I would have to say my old Bell helmet is a lot more comfortable and s lot less hassle to get it to fit correctly. The Volt is a lot better ventilated but I don't think this fact alone mitigates the additional cost.
Will be most likely returning pending a trip to the local bike shop to find something more suitable.

This helmet fits great, is very light, and looks good. I purchased this one to replace the same helmet that was broken in a bad mountain bike wreck. The helmet padding was crushed but I ended up with only a mild concussion so it did what it was supposed to do!

Fits my big, tall head, March 8, 2012
By 53x12
|
|
It's tough to provide feedback for a helmet since it's such a personal preference and everyones head shape is different. That said, I really like my Volt because it fits my large, tall head and doesn't sit too high like my previous Giro (same company as Bell) Pneumo helmet did.
The Volt looks sharp, has clean lines, and isn't too "mushroomy" on my head.
