5.0 out of 5 stars.  definitely needed, March 22, 2011
By Robert J. Behler
If you have ever had an old trailer hitch you know how necessary these little plugs are. Trying to fit a hitch into a scaly, rusty, crumbly receiver is no fun. You can get fancy hitch covers that can go for lots of money (I like the transformers one myself but not for 40-something dollars!), but this rubber/plastic plug will do the job for around $4. I decided to get a cover for my new hitch before the rust set in, so hopefully it will be easy to use when I need it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits perfectly, looks good, May 25, 2010
By Jon Beckett (Palm Bay, FL)
Fits well, is made of a nice, sturdy feeling soft touch rubber material. Looks a lot nicer than having the open 2" receiver.

It's a hunk of rubber... what's not to like about it? Seriously, it's a solid piece of rubber that fits well and looks good.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Just what I was looking for..., June 8, 2011
By DeFranklin Stubbs
I wanted a simple black hitch plug for my vehicle and the CURT 22272 is perfect. I did not want logos or anything that required the use of a hitch lock so this cheap option was just what I was looking for. The black rubber plug slips right into the receiver in a second and you are ready to go. No need to buy a receiver lock.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Curt Receiver Cover, May 21, 2011
By Robert Matejek (Clark, New Jersey)
The Curt trailer hitch receiver cover works very well. It is a snug but not overly so cover that helps to keep out dirt and debris from my trailer receiver. It stays in place and does not loosen from the vibrations while traveling. It is worth getting!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nothing fancy, but does the job!, September 11, 2010
By Just an Average Schmuck (So Cal, USA)
I just wanted something inconspicuous to fill the trailer hitch hole when I wasn't using it. This product was reasonably priced, and gets the job done! Yes, nothing fancy, or exciting to look at. However, I didn't want something too flashy that would make me consider having to lock it down. If you're practical like me, this cover does the trick.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Check to see how much clearance you have..., September 29, 2010
By Mark
The product itself is fine and seems to be as advertised. The only word of caution that I would give is if you have the bumper or other plastic pieces close to the hitch this cap may not fit well. I would recommend at least 0.5" of clearance on all sides... more is better.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  It Works But..., September 4, 2011
By Dexter Legaspi (NJ, USA)
...since it's using mainly friction to hold onto the receiver hitch, it could come off rather easily when it gets wet. I just had a car wash a few days ago and good thing I noticed it was missing...sure enough it popped off while going through the car wash.

I would redesign it to have a small rubber hook that will cling to one of the holes where you usually put the metal pin when you attach the bike.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good investment, January 22, 2012
By David J Carter Jr
This inexpensive little bit of rubber is well worth it. Fits well and made from thick rubber stock. Protects the reciever while giving it a very professional finished look. I'm glad I sprung for the extra $5 or so.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great price- great product., November 21, 2011

Great for keeping the rust out of your receiver hole on your trailer hitch. Got rust? Use a flat file and WD-40 to make the receiver and ball slide in smoothly.

This is another great Curt product for a low price. I previously purchased a Curt Manufacturing receiver hitch for my Ford F-250 Super Duty and this is the perfect compliment. It fits securely and looks great. I recommend this receiver cover.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Turns yellow ???, February 23, 2012

OK, it's a cheap item, basically a black plug in the hitch receiver. Except .. mine has turned yellow, a dirty shade of yellow at that! Tried spraying some wd40 on it - still yellow. Now on a shelf in the garage.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits tightly - Look Great!, February 21, 2012
By Kenneth Ervin Young (Palo Alto, CA)
Good News:
1) Good quality
2) Fits snugly

Bad news;
1) None so far

Bought to go with my new Curt towing mount on my wife's 2002 Acura MDX. It fits snugly so I don't feel it will easily fall out. It would be nice if it had a chain attached that mounted to the Curt towing mount so it could just hang there when not in use and be all but impossible to steal. I suspect I will lose it by taking it out and leaving it on the ground when hooking up something to toe. I may make one myself to avoid this. Hey Curt, are you listening to a nice design improvement?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  I like it!, April 20, 2012
By myatuck
First, the product description is wrong. No metal. This is a simple, friction fit, rubber plug. Fit is quite tight on my Curt front and factory Honda rear receivers, your experience may vary. I read one guy who said his came out in a car wash. That's not going to happen with mine, I'm betting his fit wasn't as tight or the plug wasn't fully pushed in, or a kid stole the darn thing.

Second, soft, black, rubber look that doesn't draw attention to the receiver.

Third, "Curt" logo is molded into rubber and barely visible unless you go looking for it. I'd like it better with no logo but this ain't bad.

Fourth, don't know how it will weather, will update if our Southern sunlight makes them whiten or stiffen. But then, maybe I'll put some UV protector on them.

Fifth, no theft protection. This could be a problem, particularly if your truck is frequently parked where young hooligans frequent. That said, there's nothing to draw their misdirected attention to these things and @$5, it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Have fun.
