5.0 out of 5 stars.  My son loves it..., August 30, 2009
By UNIX Guru (Anaheim,CA USA)

My son is a "Cars" movie fan at 2 years old. This helmet though is still too big for his head. It is more suited to a 3-4 year old...

Nice quality helmet. I recommend it...

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Misleading Product Description, May 28, 2010
By Jeni Senter (Florida)
The helmet is great. The problem is that the product description is misleading. The protective knee AND elbow pads do not come with the helmet. You only get one set of protective pads. Therefore, the product should be advertised as only coming with knee OR elbow pads, not knee AND elbow pads. Otherwise, if you are looking for a good helmet and do not the need full protective gear that is misleadingly advertised, I would recommend the purchase for the helmet.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great, February 25, 2010
By Dawn Davidson (Florida, USA)
Cute and functional; my three-year-old loves it and he has never wanted to wear a helmet before. One star off for not coming with two sets of pads for knees AND elbows.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great first time helmet, June 19, 2010
By Sherie M. Soares
My two year old grandson just got his first tricycle. I got him a helmet to go with it as you can never start too early with the safety gear. He is a small two year old, so I was worried the helmet wouldn't fit properly. The pads included with the helmet made an exact fit possible and he loves to wear the helmet. He even ran around the house trying to bump his head because it didn't hurt. I would highly recommend this product for any child. The bright color and Cars McQueen on the side make the helmet cool and kids will enjoy wearing this important safety equipment.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Not great, January 8, 2011
By pcd
We purchased this for our 3 year old. He has a normal size head for a 3 year old (80%). This helment slides back on his head constantly. We have adjusted and tightened the straps and it just doesn't stay in place. We will be purchasing a new one that has the straps at the back of the head to keep it from moving so much. I wouldn't recommend this at all...

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good helmet, November 16, 2009
By Georgia Peach (Colorado, USA)
My son loves Lightning McQueen, so no problems getting him to wear this. It is a good-fitting helmet, and provides the protection a kid needs.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  My son loves this helmet, February 9, 2010
By K. Callahan
My son hated wearing his last bike helmet, but this one is "cool". He loves Lightning McQueen, so there is no problem getting him to wear this one. I will say that this helmet is a little on the large size. He recently turned 3, and most of the normal age 3 appropriate helmets seemed small on him (and he has an average size head). This one seems to be a little big, but that's good for growing room. All in all, a great buy!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  "Bonus knee and elbow pads" Note the AND..., June 21, 2010
By M. Potvin (SC PA)
When you receive the package from Amazon, and read it, you'll see that it should be Bonus knee OR elbow pads! I purposely purchased this set for the knee and elbow pads to go along with a Mini Kick Scooter - BLUE, for kids age 3-5, winner of the Oppenheim Toy Portfolio Gold and Platinum Award Seals 2009 - ALSO available in Aqua, Orange and Pink. When I found the package to only have one set of pads, I figured the knees were the most likely to suffer when using the scooter so we tried to strap them up. No chance in wrapping these around the knees, guess they were actually the elbow pads. Regardless, the pads are nothing to write home about.

The helmet is very nice. Fashionable and the Cars theme goes over well for the little guy. He just turned three years old, and the helmet fits him perfectly.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  I wouldn't call it a toddler helmet..., September 22, 2010
By B. Thompson
I'm giving this 4 stars because it is a *very* nice helmet and my near 2yr old (21mo) is in love with it saying "ca-ca- beeep beep" and wanted the knee pads on right away! Which those too are made well. BUT, the helmet is far from toddler size. His sister's old pink helmet is smaller and fits better. So we're hanging onto this and putting stickers all over the pink helmet. Oh well! But not a complete loss because he uses the knee pads and that one afternoon when I realize the pink helmet is too small, I'll already have the bigger one on hand. Which honestly will be sooner than later I'm sure!

The helmet looks great and seems as though it would provide good protection, but fits poorly regardless of headshape/size. I have tried it on four children of different head sizes and shapes, and it doesn't fit!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Safe., December 23, 2010
By dc (dc,usa)
This is a great helmet..A little big for my 2 yr old but adjustable
My son does not love them as yet..
Keeps tipping forwards a little.
Large age span of 3 to 5 years
Yup the smaller ones are too small on my little ones head..so went a size up
Mine is just two years old now...so i am hoping by the time winter is over these will stop tipping on his head.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Cute helmet, fit is interesting, February 3, 2010
By 10 Frame (Charlotte, NC)
My son loves this helmet. He often asks to wear it in the house. I don't know if he has a small head, but I wonder how much "true" protection this helmet really offers? It seems to cover differently than other helmets, but maybe we just aren't tightening it enough or something. Anyway, for the amount of road hazards my son will realistically face on his 10 inch bike this is probably a suitable helmet for now.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  good backup helmet, March 11, 2011

wouldn't be my first choice when protecting my kid's head. you might want to explore other helmet companies that make adjustable dials in the back of the head. Makes for a more custom fit.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  knee pads are too small, September 21, 2010
By Gina (NY, NY)
I bought this for my 2.5 year old son. The helmet is great and fits nicely, with room to grow into it. However, the knee pads are too small to fit on his knees. I tried them on his elbows and they fit better. It only comes with one pair of pads though, not 2.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  My son loves it!, May 10, 2010
By Julia's mom (Brooklyn, New York)
My son loves his Cars helmet- which is truly the only reason I think I was able to get him to wear it. It is a bit large for a 2.5 year old's head (he is a big boy) but is adjustable and typically stays on. It is a large helmet but definitely provides a lot of protection and he loves it!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  CARS Lightning Mc Queen bike helmet, August 23, 2010
By Rooster
Thanks for the great, fast service. Sorry, this took so long. Been extremely busy. Love the CARS Lightning Mc Queen bike helmet. However, the straps need to be better, so more comforter for the child to wear. The protective pads are not too flexible and on the small side for a toddler and do not protect well.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Cute, durable helmet, but still too big for my preschooler, June 28, 2010
By basketcat (Chicago, IL)
My son received this helmet for his second birthday. He is nearly three now, and the helmet is still big. As others have mentioned, it came only with knee pads, not two sets of pads.
That said, he loves it. He often asks me to wear it when he rides his tricycle, so I let him to get him into that habit.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cars toddler helmet, June 28, 2010
By billie79
I purchased this helmet for my 2 year old for his Birthday. It comes with very cute and sturdy knee pads which he loves wearing around the house! The listing however states the helmet as toddler but no actual age - I consider toddler age to start at 2 but when I recieved the helmet it is from age 3. However my son's head is quite large and the helmet fits him so the age is not as issue. A week after I'd bought this helmet I saw the exact same set in Walmart on clearance for $10 after I'd paid $15 for it on forCycling :-(

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Big hit in our house, February 4, 2011
By Elandrya
This was a big hit in our house. Bought it to go with the tricycle we got him for Christmas - hasn't gotten to ride it yet since it's been a rough winter here. But he does wear the helmet and knee pads around the house! He'll put them on to ride on his little Cars push car. It's so cute! Knee pads seem a little tight so hoping they last until all the snow clears and he can wear them while riding his tricycle!

FROM THE TIME WE OPENED THE BOX MY GRANDSON, WILL, SAID, "WEEEEETA, THAT'S MINE?" AND I KNEW THAT WE MADE THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR A CHRISTMAS GIFT FOR MY GRANDSON. HE SHARES SOME OF HIS TOYS BUT THERE ARE SOME THAT HE DOESN'T SHARE CAUSE WEETA GOT THEM FOR HIM AND THEY'E SPECIAL. BUYING THE RADIO FLYER RED DUAL DECK TRICYCLE WAS A VERY, VERY GOOD CHOICE. EVEN MY DAUGHTER-IN-LAW, SHE HAD SEEN A TRICYCLE LIKE THIS ONE AND WANTED TO ASK ME TO GET ONE BUT WAS AFRAID MY FEELINGS WOULD BE HURT IF I HAD GOTTEN A DIFFERENT ONE AND SHE CAME RIGHT OVER TO HUGGED ME, "YOU MUST BE A MIND READER CAUSE I WANTED THAT TRICYCLE SO BAD FOR WILL BUT WAS AFRAID TO HURT YOUR FEELINGS HAD YOU GOTTEN A DIFFERENT ONE."

THE SAME GOES FOR THE CARS MCQUEEN HARDSHELL BICYCLE HELMET AND PROTECTIVE PADS.

I GIVE THEM BOTH A FIVE RATING.

My son is 2.5 years old and although the helmet is a big for his head, it does work well with the stripes well adjusted. The pads are a nice gift considering the price of the product

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Questionable size, May 3, 2011
By EAGDC
I bought this helmet for my son who just turned 4. It seems to be a little wobbly on his head even though you can adjust the chin strap. Once his head gets a little bigger it should fit fine. As noted in other feedback it only comes with one set of pads. I feel that the pads are way too small for the size of the helmet. My 4 year old can't wear them as knee pads and they are just big enough to use as elbow pads. I would think that they would be bigger considering the size of the helmet. I will be keeping them though because of the price since the helmet should be able to do the job and my son doesn't mind wearing it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Safety + Lightening McQueen = Happy Kid, Happy Mom, March 8, 2011
By NYCMeghan (New York, NY)
My 4 year old son received this helmet/pads along with a "Cars" scooter. It is perfectly sized for him, but I can't imagine this fitting a child much younger. Elbow pads are a bit stiff and not used much after the first week. Helmet is great - great quality & fit.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice helmet, January 29, 2011
By molly (New York, NY)
This is a nice helmet, although it only tightens under the chin and not around the head, so that's a drawback. It's a little big for my guys right now - They'll be 3 in the spring.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  cute helmet, small pads, January 8, 2011
By d wil (UT)
I have to agree with some of the other reviews for this purchase. The helmet is fine but the pads are way too small. They did fit on my 3 years old elbows, but not even close on the knees. They are not only small, but they are not comfortable at all. I really only wanted the helmet, so that wasn't a big deal. You can get better pads separately if you want.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Good deal!, November 5, 2010
By Coal Craker (Tucson, AZ USA)
Purchased this item for a 4 year old boy. It fit well, provided good coverage and because it is "McQueen" related he loves to wear it. For this boy the pads were tight fitting but this is needed to keep them in place on an active 4 year old.
