By Anthony F. Herbst (El Paso, Texas)

Great lock, not subject to bump key opening, comes with 5 keys, one with an led light. Only negative is that the hasp is too thick to fit some uses.

Only closes over chain link, May 18, 2009
By E. Bobowski (United States)

While certainly a sturdy, hardened lock, there is no room for this lock to close over anything but one single chain link. You cant put it through two links and you certainly can't fit it over any part of a motorcycle rim or disc. I would likely not buy this product had I realized this beforehand.

OnGuard you Beast!, September 18, 2010

I've had this lock for a while now it seems to be holding on its own. The only thing though if it's used outdoors you have to lube the screws because they'll corrode.

Cheap price, cheap lock, June 29, 2010

Was considering buying a Squire SS65 lock but was told the OnGuard padlock was great, so I decided to buy it, given that it was so cheap. I was disappointed upon opening it. The body is mostly plastic (there is a metal shroud underneath, but it's small) and the shackle is extremely light and insubstantial. The lock itself is a disc tumbler lock, which is a good thing that OnGuard uses, but the entire thing just feels cheap. I will definitely purchase the SS65 now.

decent lock, September 19, 2011

This is a decent lock. Not great but decent. i guess at the price it will work. While it seems well made there are far too many plastic parts for my liking. i use this lock to secure my motorcycle wile at work or school. And it is left for hours at a time. The key cylinder has nice smooth action and seems well made. The shank is fairly thick and seems to be of good steel. From what I understand it is differentially harded, hard skin with a tough core. To resist cutting. But the body of the lock has a plastic case and the majority of the shank is shrouded in plastic which is part of the casing. The interior steel shroud is not very big and does not cover much of the shank. It is possible that the plastic shroud is there to hinder bolt cutters biting the shank. But I don't really buy that.
All in all for the price it is a really good lock, but if you get it only use it as a stop gap measure until you can afford a more beefy lock. Which tend to be amazingly expensive.
So far I've used it for about a month without issue.

OnGuard Beast, September 3, 2010
By Curtis T Troupe

If you want the best, this is it. Works great, easy open, with the entire top loop coming off for ease of opening and locking. Comes with 5 keys (not sure why you need so many, but you get them all). One of the keys has a LED light built in for opening the lock in the dark.

Shaft Too Big For a PODS Unit, August 25, 2010
By Dennis
|
|
This lock has a larger than normal shaft and it was unusable on my PODS unit that arrived the same day as the lock.
I kept the lock as I am sure I can find a use for it elsewhere!
