Works Great!, September 15, 2009

I was afraid that my 1994 H-D FXR would shake my PN-40 so badly that I wouldn't be able to read the display without stopping and killing the engine. No worry! This mount works great! I've got it installed on the left side handlebar and I can read the display just fine while I'm cruising along.

I bought this to use on my ATV. It is a handle bar mount. PN40 stays right where I put it on the ATV, even over rough terrian. I even started using it on my moutian bike. very easy to install or remove.

Used this GPSr on a recent 2400 mile motorcycle trip and for some hiking and geocaching. really can not say enough good about it. very accurate, excellent software. Will take a while to learn all of its functions, but is fairly intuitive to use. best GPSr I have used to date.

RAM mounts are the best, June 2, 2011

I had one of these on an ATV a few years ago and loved it. I wasn't sure how this one would do on a motorcycle, but so far it's been perfect. easy install and stays put on the rough stuff.

easy to use once you become familiar with the menus. Eats up batteries when used for vehicle nav, have installed a power outlet on the motorcycle to run it off the battery. great maps, no excessive fees for updates.

Works great on my bicycle, June 29, 2010

I was a bit skeptical of the DeLorme bicycle RAM mount, so I purchased this one instead. It works great! I don't carry my GPS unit with me on all rides, so I really like that the clip/ball that stays on the bike takes up very little width on the handlebars. The GPS unit stays comfortably in the cradle (I've been over a few very bumpy stretches that didn't dislodge it).
I'm taking this on a bicycle tour this summer (one stretch of the California coast I'm doing on sideroads/trails I have not done before, and I'm not even sure how rideable they are). I have a dymamo/generator hub with an inverter (E-werk, not currently available on forCycling) that will allow me to charge USB devices, the GPS cradle allows you to run the USB cable out of it (and charge batteries at the same time you use it), so I look forward to not having to worry about batteries. I'll try to remember to post how well it works on this trip.
Bottom line: It does what it's supposed to.

Extremely sturdy, well-built Delorme GPS mount, October 22, 2011
By iceninejim

This mount is very sturdy/well-built. It works great for a Delorme Earthmate GPS. It comes with u-bolts of two different sizes so you should be able to place it anywhere at all on your handle bars. The u-bolts aren't big enough to place around a stem but that would seem awkward anyway. I was initially waffling between this mount and one of the quick release ones. I wanted quick release but that mount didn't sound as well-built. The GPS holder and arm with tightener and two swiveling balls are essentially quick release. Just loosen it all the way and the whole thing comes off the u-bolt mount (which does stay on the handlebar unless unscrewed with wrench). The good thing is that removing the part that does come off easily gets everything out of your way if you don't want it there for some reason.
While this one is designated as the motorcycle mount, it works fantastic on my mountain bike. And honestly, I was extremely impressed with how securely the cradle holds the GPS. It's absolutely not going anywhere. And the swivel on each end of the arm gives a lot of freedom as to where to have the cradle positioned.

Does exactly what it's designed to, July 18, 2011

Bought this for my dual sport motorcycle and was a bit skeptical knowing how bumpy that can get in this thing's ability to hold onto my GPS securely. The RAM mount came through. After hours of bumping around off-road, it didn't didn't move at all. I'm glad I got this one and not the other one that is more bicycle oriented. Even on a bicycle, I think I'd rather have the piece of mind this thing provides. Money well spent in my opinion.

Excellent material, quality and design. I own 2 of these and they work perfectly on my bicycles. Could not ask for a better product. I have no idea why they make a "lesser" model of this.

Great product. Takes patience to understand how to use it. The manual is not written for beginners. Help from other owners proved it is worth the effort. Didn't know it needed a SID card or the capacity of card. Would have saved time if I had bought one from the start. But the device itself is excellent.

Great GPS holder. It's a lot more solid than it looked in the picture and holds it to my handlebars rock solid. I would recommend this holder if you have a delorme.

Firm Holder, September 4, 2011

I utilized this mount while caribou hunting on the Denali Highway. I had it mounted on the left side of my 4 wheeler handle bars. It stayed positioned the whole time of the hunt. I found the ability to readjust the angle was a big plus. The GPS unit stayed firmly in mount. The designers had the forethought to make the mount so that it works fine with the 12 volt adapter cable.

I have had this RAM mount now for over 6 months and I love it. It is solid yet easily adjustable when needed. I use it with my Yamaha Wolverine 450 ATV. I was worried about the cost initially but I have no reservations in saying it is worth it!

Sturdy and versatile, June 19, 2010
By Aaron C. Meyer

This is a very sturdy product that holds steady at 75 mph on rural freeways without difficulty at all. It's also very easy to adjust and set even with riding gloves on.
Installation is a snap and there are two U-bolts included to fit different diameter handlebars easily. The included locknuts fasten securely and do not vibrate loose.
As an added benefit, it's a standard RAM mount and can accept multiple other heads easily. I also have a camera mount that I can swap in instead of the GPS mount using the same base which makes it easy to take videos during a ride. Overall this is a quality product that I could not be happier with. It's obvious why RAM mounts are as widely respected as they are.
