Good product, description needs update., August 12, 2010
By aspiring engineer (Seattle, WA)

The spoke wrench is very well made, strong and does it's job.
It's a high quality steel product with a relatively high price compared to its competitors, however with free shipping it is well worth it. I'm sure that unless you lose it, this is the only spoke wrench you will need for the rest of your life.
I think the description "Includes universal spoke wrench; chain tool; tire levers; glueless patch kit" was copy and pasted from somewhere else and needs to be updated. I was just expecting the spoke wrench, but it could mislead somebody else.

Great quality circular spoke wrench!, December 2, 2010
By Mondoman (Seattle, WA)

While individual spoke wrenches for each nipple size are usually the best, many times you'd just like a single, high-quality compact tool for occasional use, or to fit in your seat pack.
I've seen many el cheapo circular spoke tools, cheaply stamped or cast; this is NOT one of those! It's got a good solid feeling (the packaging says it's made of forged steel), precise labeling and (most importantly) precisely crafted channel openings for the spoke nipple. I bought two just so I'd always have one handy!

Far better than those included in mini-tools, January 20, 2011
By Cyclist John (Pennsylvania, USA)

Round spoke wrenches are, imho, far superior to those included in mini-tools. This wrench has multiple sizes, presumably the most popular sizes. You quickly find the right size, quickly tighten (or loosen) your spoke(s), and give your wheel a spin to check your adjustment. Easy and fast vs. the mini-tool method: hard and slow. Spend a few dollars for a round wrench; you'll be happy you did.

Noob Hard At Work, September 21, 2010

My girlfriend has a pretty screwed up bike, so I took it upon myself to fix it up. Everything was going "well" till I got to the wheels.
Both the front and the back wheel were extreamly bent. I called around to bike shops to see how much it would cost for the bike to get the wheels fixed and it was, on average, $10 a wheel and it would take a day to fix. Well me being a cheep SOB decided I could do it myself for less on both accounts.
I did not know what spoke size wrench she needed nor did I want to buy something I could only use on one bike. So getting this wheel tuner seemed like the best option.
The cheepest I could find it on a reliable site was here on amazon. So I ordered it and it actually showed up three days ahead of schedule.
When I actually sat down to fix the wheels it went easier and quicker than I thought it would. It took me less than an hour to do both wheels. At first I had trouble figuring out how to hold the tuner but I eventually got that under control. Though I would suggest not having greesy hands before handling the tuner, it gets kind of hard to hold then. Obviously the wheels are not as true as they might be if I took them to a professional, but for the price it was a steal. My girlfriend's bike is still holding up well and there have been no issues to date.

comes in handy, July 12, 2011

I like how I don't have to look for different spoke wrenches while working on different bikes. I've used it for different bikes with different sized spokes and I'm glad i had this or else I wouldn't have the right size for some of the bikes i fixed in my house. The bikes for kids and the bikes for adults had different spoke sizes. It is convenient to just grab for the same wrench each time. It works well and does what it is supposed to do. It seems solid and cheap price, saved money by not having to buy one for each size.

True your own wheels yourself., July 5, 2011
By J. Lam (California, USA)

This seems like a high quality tool and comes with a very nice finish. As shown in the picture, it will fit several different spoke sizes (10 to 15E). A single sized spoke wrench would probably be more comfortable to use, but you would need to know exactly what size spoke nipples your wheels have. I didn't know what size nipples my wheels had so this spoke wrench solved the problem. I was able to use sizes 12 and 14 to true the wheels on two different bikes. Thanks to this tool and an internet tutorial I was able to true my own wheels.

Used to fix my daughter's bike, April 29, 2011
By I'm a mom (Mississippi)
|
|
My daughter has a cheap WalMart bike. After we took it out of storage, the front wheel was way out of true. We called a local bike shop and they wanted a week and $20 to fix it. My dad used to fix bikes so I figured, I could manage this. I bought this wrench because after some research, I determined that sometimes the Walmart bikes have weird size spokes and I wanted to be prepared. This is a nice solid product and I had my daughter's bike back in true in about 20 minutes (more or less, without a truing stand). Now I have a tool to fix it next year when it inevitably will go out of true again. Definitely worth the $6.95!

Great Value Spoke Wrench, February 11, 2011
By perrymasonary (Miami, Florida)

Purchased this spoke wrench after my disappointment for Park Tools mini spoke wrench SW-7. Avenir has designed a much better product.
Both sides are marked with the corresponding numbers so you don't have to turn it over to determine if you have the correct size. Also this spoke wrench is substantial as far as the thickness and is not a flimsey tool.
Unlike the Park Tools SW-7 which has only slots for 3 sizes, the Avenir has 7.
This tool really works as I used it to remove a broken spoke. While professional bike mechanics may prefer the individual spoke wrenches, this tool is great for the hobbyist.

Worked great for what I needed., March 8, 2011

I wasn't sure which size I needed. Very strong and worked perfectly for what it was needed. A single sized wrench is likely to have better ergonomics, but at a cost in terms of versatility.

This is a versitile tool of very good quality. It is easy to use and will fit many different spoke sizes. I watched a video on YouTube to learn how to true a wheel and using this item saved $30.00 within minutes.

GOOD DEAL!, February 20, 2012
By SkunkApeMan (Miami)

My spoke wrench came today and I couldn't be happier. I was worried it might be too fat to turn, but it fits the spoke nipples on my Next mountain bike with room to spare.
This a hefty tool and I doubt I'll need to order another spoke wrench for some time to come. I like that it's got all the different sizes on one tool. Less chance of loosing one like I would if it were a set of different sized wrenches. Wish I had ordered it sooner.

Spoke Wrench... of Destiny?, October 8, 2011
By James Santucci
|
|
I am admittedly very inexperienced with bike maintenance, but wheel truing always sounded like some kind of dark magic that only trained professionals should do. Both my front and rear wheels were rubbing, and I was thinking of taking it in to a local bike shop when a friend of mine told me that such a thing as a "spoke wrench" existed, so after looking around at several "universal" ones I bought this one (my bike is a Raleigh, and I thought it might be smart to get the universal spoke wrench from the same manufacturer).
The feel of the wrench is wonderful. It's solid metal. It shines. It feels like you're holding an item of great power, which is fair, because you basically are. This thing is going to change my bicycling forever.

Good quality, durable., October 4, 2011
By D. Gay (Greenwood, IN)

High quality, durable tool. I use this on several bikes with different sized spoke nipples. Would reccommend and certainly buy again if I lose it. One thing to consider, though, is that on wheels with closely spaced spokes, it can be a tight fit. Might consider a dedicated one size tool for those.

Robust material, July 16, 2010
By NuclearApologist

If someone knows what to look for in purchasing things like spoke wrenches, they should speak up. When I approached this purchase, I guessed that the only two concerns were number of sizes and material. This spoke wrench has several sizes, and is made out of some very robust material--probably steel. So, this one is good on both fronts and inexpensive. I do not, however, know where it is made. Perhaps France? Otherwise, I've liked it and recommend it.

Pointless tool for most wheels, March 2, 2011
By Ewan C
|
|
I received this wrench along with a mini tool kit designed for portability. There are 8 jaws on this wrench and it looks very versatile at first glance. The problem is, it's missing the 0.13" (3.3mm) size! The smallest size fits very loosely on my spoke nipples. I have a very good quality wheel set, so I'm confused why it lacks this size.
I have attempted to re-dish/tighten and true my front wheel, and regret it. Two of the spokes are now rounding out, and will not accept any more trueing. I will be putting this tool back in its pouch and get a single sided tool made by a reputable tool company. I suspect that the smallest size on the tool is actually 0.135", which is the "red handled" spoke tool. I know for a fact I need the "green handled" tool, which is the one I have used for all my wheel builds.

Great little tool!, April 18, 2012
By chac

|
I'm a DIY-er and I use this on all my bikes. I own more than 1 bike and this tool has worked well with the tires I needed to true. I purchased this tool because it has every spoke size all-in-one which is a lot more convenient than having a tool for every size. Also, I didn't really know what size my tire spoke was, so buying this all in one tool was a lot more easier than gambling on which exact size tool to buy. And buying online is a lot cheaper than in-store or at a local bike shop so I didn't want to have to return or buy another tool and play the waiting game again. All in all, a great tool that does what it should. It feels sturdy and strong, and it should last a long time.

Does what it needs to do and Well, April 11, 2012
By albanycritic (Albany, NY United States)

This wrench gave me no problems at all. Having so many sizes on one instrument is very convenient and if not sure what size you need, chances are it's on here. The wrench has a good weighted feel to it. I had no issues with stripping the spoke nipples. I think that stripping issue is most likely due to not properly lining the sides on the nipple flush with the wrench and turning it by the edges instead. Good buy.

I've used this tool many times, over six months. It fits tight on the spoke nut, and the shape is easy to grip and turn. Yes, I'd buy it again. America used to make QUALITY products. This November, let's vote for a president who will create JOBS, not EXCUSES.

This spoke adjuster has the right size and does the job. On my older bike it tends to slip but spoke nipples are easy to replace. So far no complaints.
