4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bike for the neighborhood and park, May 21, 2009
By C. Rollins (Manalapan, NJ United States)
My husband bought this bike for me for mother's day and I love it. I like the wide wheels and the ease of use. I can keep up with my kids in the park and in the neighborhood and the gear shifts are easy to use. It also doesn't hurt my back like other bikes where you have to hunch over more. The seat can use a little more cushioning, but otherwise it is a great bike.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  the best womens MTB for $200, April 7, 2012
By E. Myers (Michigan)
we searched far and wide for a new bike for my daughter. shopped the local bike shop first. i was terribly disappointed to see $389+ for heavy trek and specialized brand chinese made bikes with generic brand components. that's NOT going happen at ALL. i love my local bike shop, but unless they carry a higher quality product... they're not getting my money. bikes in the $350-450 price range use to have air sprung forks, dual wall rims, shimano deore DX or LX components and quality non-threaded headsets. those days are, apparently, long gone.

i happened on the SX2000 at a local one-stop-shop store, Meijer. identical components as the treks and specializeds at the LBS, still made in china, SRAM 3.0 shifters, identical SR suntour front fork. all this, was for $199+ tax. that's nearly half the price! local bike shop, take note!

now... the big advantage for the SX2000 over the "major" brand bikes.... a noticeably lighter aluminum frame. this is a fine bicycle for the casual rider for both street and dirt use and I expect will serve my daughter well for many years. everything is upgradeable if my daughter decides to take MTBing more seriously, like her dad.

in reference to the prior reviewer noting a frame error, where the front wheel hits the pedal...

this must have been an isolated incident. there is at least 6" between the pedal, fully forward and the front tire with the handle bars turned as close to the pedal as possible.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Bike, April 8, 2012
By kohakuhoshi
Most comfortable bike I have ever had. The price and shipping is great, the packaging is excellent. If you're having issues with the wheel hitting the pedals, you have to adjust the "camber" so that the wheel is angled outward, the earlier reviews are unfair if you take into account that they had to put it a certain way to fit it in the box and you have to adjust it yourself. I love the women-specific design of this bike. I hated how awful my old bike was on my back and butt, this new one was almost worth the old one getting stolen. They can have that back straining thing. Be sure to get a theft resistant u-bar lock and a specialty seat, I got the one recommended with this bike and it's sooooo much better.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Frame Design Error, January 1, 2011
By AmazonBuyer1970
I purchased this bike online for my wife. Put together easily and she loves the look and feel. The only problem is that the pedal touches the wheel. Very dangerous. Add a foot-to-pedal to the scenario and it is extremely dangerous. Very sad we have to return it. I'm wondering if somehow they shipped the wrong frame to go with 26" wheels. All other online reviews seem positive so maybe just a random quality control error. Not sure. Sad we have to send it back.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good quality to cost ratio, January 22, 2012
By RC
I am 5'6'' and this bike is ALMOST too small for me. I feel a little close to the handlebars but my knees have room and my feet don't touch the tires when turning. Overall a great bike; not too heavy. I purchased a schwinn saddle seat and it makes for a nice leisure ride.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bike, Shipped quickly!, September 11, 2011
By CoenenR
I was really happy with this bike! Not only was the price better than other places I looked but it shipped quickly and arrived in perfect shape. It was easy to put together and works great. Sometimes the gears stick but is working better now that I oiled it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Not very happy about the partly-assembled shipment, but overall nice bike, April 29, 2012
By Amazonaholic
I was quite happy that the bike would be shipped partly assembled, and that all I had to do was to put the big pieces together, but that did not happen to be the scenario. Similar to the paddle case mentioned in one of the comments above, the manufacturer had not assembled the stem+headset correctly. I first thought that there was a missing piece, then I realized that I had to disassemble the stem+headset section, re-assemble them facing the correct way...

In addition to that, the tires I received were flat. I had to go to the bike shop and have them inflated. I don't know if all bikes are shipped that way or not, but thought it's worth mentioning.

The bike shop representative told me that the manufacturers usually do a pretty bad job in sending partly assembled products, and that he would advice a complete disassembly/re-assembly - so I guess, whichever bike you order online, you can face the same unwelcome situation.

Other than these, I really liked the color.. Could not get used to the gears yet - it seems like the gears are not perfectly responsive. But then again, I had a very pleasant ride with this bike today, and hope to have many!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Love My New Bike...Except..., April 27, 2012
By RachelleL
Overall this is a great quality bike! This is my first bike as a "grown-up" and I'm happy with it. The only reason it did not recieve the fifth star is because of the seat. I highly recommend getting a padded or gel seat for it, I rode it for 45 minutes the first day, and well, I was really sore and a bit bruised in the "seat area". It handles very well on our local bike trail, that has rocks, sticks and plenty of bumps. The gears are very easy to switch. The handle bars are in the perfect position, I experienced no back pain and was not hunched over at all. My husband was able to put it together within 20 minutes. If you are looking for a quality bike at a decent price this is a great pick!
