4.0 out of 5 stars.  Mount on OUTSIDE of helmet. Better than Blackburn mirror..., August 22, 2009
By The will to win is nothing without .. (Ann Arbor, Michigan)
A rear view mirror is a MUST for anyone riding with traffic.

HELMET mirrors are NOT for everyone as they do require some getting used to. It took me at least 2-3 rides before I got used to it. I've been using one since 2003 and do not feel safe without one.

Helmet mirrors do a better job as you can still have a blind spot with the bicycle mounted mirrors - I have my helmet mirror set so I can see my shoulder and the side of my head. This gives me a clear view of traffic behind and to my right. By turning my head 30 degrees to my right, I completely "sweep" to all lanes on my left side.

I've tried this and the Blackburn helmet mirror. This one is definitely better.

MINUS
- Does not remove (the Blackburn pops off the base so you can remove it offroading, for example. Don't lose it!)

PLUS
- Shorter arm is stiffer than Blackburn (it's an I-Beam section)
- Adjustment range is better than Blackburn
- Lighter mirror vibrates less than Blackburn

Note: The helmets I have used them on are the Giro Atmos, Giro Animas, Bell Forza II and Bell Phi II

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Who has that kind of room in their helmet?, October 20, 2007
By literal philosopher (Houston, TX)
Note that the entire portion of this object away from the mirror end is designed to be mounted INSIDE the helmet. One side of the "Dual-Lock" pad (come on, it's industrial velcro) sticks inside the rim of your helmet, and then the other side, with the mirror mount, attaches to that. That's a huge thing pressing against your noggin while you ride! I ground down the back of the mount somewhat and epoxied it to the outside: now it's a very useful and serviceable object. Wouldn't want to be without it. (Although, an oval would give you more view.)

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Gets better the longer you use it., July 8, 2007
By Retired hedonist (Fredericksburg, VA)
A helpful biker's safety accessory. The instructions for mounting the mirror on the helmet are not clear and the drawing is misleading. Spent too much time uncertain whether I was mounting it correctly. The field of vision is smaller than I would like; an oval shape would probably be better. In fairness, the longer I used it the better I liked it and playing with adjusting the field of vision has now gotten it to the point that I think it was a worthwhile purchase.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  After seven years of use, buying a second one, November 4, 2009
By TEG (Madison, WI)
I've had this model of mirror for the last seven years until I broke it (my fault.) Once used to using it can't think of not having it. One hint, at least for a road bike, position the mirror so you can see your ear. That will be about the right position when on your bike. I've had no problems with the glue backed Velcro type attachment to my helmet. The Velcro is really strong so be careful if removing from your helmet. I always keep it on my helmet.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great, but don't use the velcro..., January 7, 2010
By Kirtlander (Kirtland, OH USA)
Consistent with other reviews, I found that the Velcro attachment method resulted in direct contact pressure of the mounting bracket with my head. Not good. Furthermore, the Velcro is so stiff that it is nearly impossible to separate without ripping the pad off the helmet. This makes the Velcro attachment method pretty much useless.

Taking a cue from the other reviewers, I removed the Velcro pad from the mounting bracket, cleaned it and the helmet well, then proceeded to use hot glue to mount the mirror. This, my friends, works great and is quite secure.

It took me a few rides to get used to the mirror; I used to use a bar-end mirror on my road bike. But once I got used to it, it works quite well. This mirror allows me to keep my eyes on the road. It also allows me to view behind me even when I'm standing on the pedals, hammering up hills.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  The best helmet mirror, August 4, 2010
By Carol D. Linden
I have tried all the other types of stick on mirrors for my helmet and this is the ONLY one that works! It has never fallen off, unlike every other mirror I've tried. If anything, it requires some effort to remove it from the helmet should you choose to do so.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Don't Bother, July 15, 2010
By Spike
Just don't bother. It does not give a wide view and requires more trouble than it's worth. Get a handlebar mirror if you need one, but this one is terrible.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Don't bother, May 15, 2011
By Larry Chin
There is a major flaw for a helmet mirror when riding on a road bike. In the normal riding position, your shoulder will block the mirror's view behind you. You will need to lift your head up to look behind you. Even in that awkward position, there is only a small window. The mirror will not stay adjusted. On my only ride, I had to stop several times to adjust the mirror. In the end, I returned it. Amazon was great in handling the return.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Didn't work out, March 3, 2010
By Alicia L Chandler (Erie, PA)
Well, I thought it was going to work, but then I put it on with my winter riding hat under the helmet. I could not get it adjusted into my field of view. The arm just didn't move down enough. When I thought I would try it for my summer helmet, the Velcro came off the helmet instead of the Velcro strips coming apart, so the mount didn't seem very durable. The arm seems like a cheap plastic, so I questioned the durability anyway.

I think I'll be returning this.

The mirrow works fine but it could be a bit larger for a better view.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Lousy product, August 29, 2011
By History fan (Davis,CA)
Mounted in location indicated in instructions and could not see through it. It needs to be mounted further out, on the visor itself. The adhesive, supposedly made for the foam, pealed off with the slightest touch. Dumping this and going with glasses mounted product

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Third Eye Foam Helmet Mount Bike Mirror, December 29, 2010
By Anonymous
I've used these mirrors on three different helmets over four years and have been extremely happy with them. I'm unsure if the earlier reviewers mounted it correctly. A very secure velcro type pad attaches to the outside of the helmet (not the inside) and then the mirror assembly can be attached or detached very easily. The plastic or rubber velcro type attachment is very secure, both in its attachment to the helmet and for attaching the mirror assembly, and I've never had one come loose. The instructions for attachment that come with the product are very clear and understandable. The only thing I've noticed on the negative side, and it is a very small thing, is that occasionally I need to readjust the mirror if I'm riding somewhere bumpy or with a lot of vibration. That is very easy and can be done in a second or two while riding - just reach up and adjust the mirror so that your ear is reflected along the very right edge of it. After using a helmet mirror, I've found that I really dislike riding without one, and while I tried others, I like this one best. I should note that it is difficult to get the placement of the attachment point right (for all helmet mirrors) with a visor on, but I take those off.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Third Eye bicycle helmet mirror, September 23, 2010
By Eric ICC GM (Ann Arbor)
I've tried many handle bar and helmet-mounted rear-view bike mirrors. This is absolutely the best. Incredible optics and good adjustability. Like any of these, it gets out of adjustment when you set the helmet down and can be a bit breakable, but the great view makes it an essential part of biking. I feel more exposed when I ride without this mirror than when I ride without a helmet.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great mirror for small helmets, November 1, 2010
By runner (franklin, tn USA)
i tried the stick on the outside type mirror and my helmet was too small. this fits inside the helmet against the styro, but behind the foam cushion. kind of pushes on my head a little, but it's a great mirror. adjusts and stays in place. won't leave home without it!

2.0 out of 5 stars.  mirror needs improvement, May 2, 2012

First, the directions are terrible. Second, its extremely hard to find a place on the helmet that will allow the tape to stick. Overall, a waste of money

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Had to replace my lost one, April 6, 2012
By John Weber (New Ipswich, NH)
I have had this exact mirror for about 15 years, and the Velcro like attachment still works perfectly, but somehow i lost the mirror. When I saw this one I hoped it would be exactly the same and it is, so all I have to do is take the mirror out of the package and attach it to the existing Velcro on my helmet. I like being able to see what is behind me without having to turn around and look. The mirror does take a bit of getting used to, and you have to play with it to get it in the right position for best viewing, but it does work well.

I attached the Velcro part on the outside of my helmet since I have a rounded foam one, and it still works. I noticed there was a review that stated you couldn't take the mirror off the helmet, but it just pops off the Velcro so it is removable.
