5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent tool! I highly recommend this item., December 10, 2008
By Mike Michaels (Michigan, USA)
I purchased this about a year ago. It's excellent. Yes, it's small, but that's why I like it. Ever try to use those stupid "L" shaped allen wrenches that are included in the box of every piece of furniture that needs assembling? They don't work, they slip, and you end up banging your knuckles in the hard to reach places they've placed the screws. You can't use a normal allen wrench because the space is too tight.

Well this little tool solves all your problems.

I had to assemble the crib my wife & I bought for our baby. The screws were placed in the tightest places. It was so tight, you couldn't get a normal allen wrench in there....and as I mentioned above, the silly "L" shaped allen wrench wasn't working. I couldn't get the proper leverage to tighten the screw and the thing kept sliding off causing me to bang up my fist pretty good.

I purchased this product and was able to get it into all those tight spaces with easy and it worked like a charm! I've since been forced to use it numerous other times and it's never failed.

It's well built. Very handy. And perfect for assembling anything where the screws are hidden or in a confined space. It's a great addition to my tool box and I can't say enough good things about it. It's been a lifesaver.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  great price, exactly what I needed for those tight spots, April 18, 2010
By ANT (OC, CA)
If you are looking for a short screwdriver for those cramped locations, this is the tool you need. The ratchet is a big plus over the small stubby screwdrivers.

I don't know why some people are complaining about quality. Goodness, this thing only costs $8. Are you using it to build the space shuttle or something?

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good value. Similar to Craftsman, but not quite as versatile., March 5, 2010
By Dave (Franklin, TN)
I have used this product and it is fine for limited use. The metal from which the bits are cast seems a little soft and accordingly is likely to wear more quickly. I probably should not include the rest of my opinion in this Amazon review however, Sears has a Craftsmen set which contains 3 ratchets instead of one, and includes 4 different bits that are made of a harder metal, all at a fairly reasonable, but higher price. The big difference is that the Craftsman set, which I have had for a number of years, supplies a straight ratchet that is similar to the ratchet sold herein plus 2 angled ratchets, the heads of which are roughly +35 degrees and -35 degrees from the straight ratchet. This makes for a versatile set of ratchets that can accommodate much more difficult to reach screws. I have used the Craftsman set many times and mentally thank my wife for the foresight of giving me this Christmas stocking present each time I use it because many times I have no tool that is a good alternative. I found that the Craftsman set was so valuable that I bought an extra set for myself, and also gave sets to my son and to my son-in-law.

While there is nothing really wrong with the ratchet set being sold here, and it is a good value for limited use, I would suggest that you check out the Craftsman set first. I have written a number of reviews in which I recommended a product sold by Amazon. However, in this rare instance, I believe their selections do not include sufficient alternatives for their wide range of customers.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Failed to Perform When Called Upon, October 30, 2011
By LouisianaBistineau (Louisiana)
This tool is one of those you seek out after fighting a screw with the head facing 1" away from an obstruction. You most likely don't want to go through that again. This is not intended to be an everyday screwdriver.

Given that, it sat in my toolbag for a few weeks before being called upon. And,it failed to perform as expected, so I seemed to have traded one frustration for another. It did get the screw out with some work, but even at it's low cost I was disappointed.

Here's why:
If the obstructed screw is torqued down tightly, at all, you will find that you can't put adequate force on the end of the handle to keep the bit in the screw head. Especially flat head screws. So, you end up having to try and fit your fingers in the cramped space to push on the back side of the bit, as you turn. By time you get this tool, and your fingers in the space you could have fit a stubby screwdriver in the same amount of space with less frustration.

The ratcheting is way to coarse for the application. Fine tooth ratcheting is needed most in close quarters, and since this tool is made for that I expected fine tooth ratcheting.

Note:
There are 7 bits included in this tool. Be aware of customer images showing 30 or so.

On the plus side:
I found this to be a useful tool when combined with a set of nut drivers for putting in drills. You can slide most of them into the hole of this tool and make a close-quarters nut driver without the problems mentioned above.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  disappointed, December 27, 2007
By E. Mayoros (Exton, PA)
super cheap packaging, looks like it was purchased from the Dollar Store! The picture is deceiving, the tool itself it MUCH smaller than it looks in the picture and does not appear to be made as well either. Was charged WAYYYY more for shipping then was necessary and item barely made it in time for Xmas.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent little tool for the money, April 1, 2011
By Jason (Batavia, Illinois)
I purchased this tool so I could install two tweeters in my car's dashboard right up against the windshield. I had about 1.5 inches above the screw for clearance, and couldn't get a regular screw driver in place.

This little tool worked like a charm. It is smaller than I expected, which is good. No one is going to torque down a big screw with something like this, as you just won't get the downward force that you would with regular screwdriver. This tool is designed to work with smaller screws in tight places, and it does that very well.

I hate crappy tools, and this tool is not crappy. For $8, this tool is nicer than I expected, and should last a very long time with periodic use.

The only thing I'll add is that I would look for a nicer tool if I were needing to use it daily in a professional environment (a stereo installer, for example). However, pro's don't typically dig through Amazon looking for a bargain screwdriver that ships via Prime so it can show up in time for a weekend project. For that reason, I don't hesitate to give this screwdriver 5 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  not fine tooth, April 28, 2011
By Lucas
You get what you pay for. Its harbor fright grade. In tight spots it doesn't ratchet very smoothly and I ended up giving it away as a gift. For a few more bucks I would save up for the snap on one that is fine tooth.

I had been looking at another set that included about 20 different bits, which gives you a nice diversity, but it was $60!!

This set is perfect for my needs. It's pretty well made and will be used very often.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A MUST HAVE IN ANY TOOLBOX, March 19, 2011
By ZeroSeVen
This right angle ratchet screwdriver is only 4 inches long and comes with 6 different screw types and sizes. It's very useful in tightening screws in deep areas where space is limited. I recommend using a longer screw head for added clearance and better torque.

The only negative thing I can say about it's design is the tightening (clockwise)/ loosening (counter clockwise) locking mechanism can be accidentally pushed so easily when cranking it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great wrench for small spaces and big projects, March 6, 2011
By S. Box (Maine, USA)
I was doing some close in work there a typical screwdriver or drill just could not fit.
This little jobber was able to get in there and pull the seats on my boat.

It will also take other standard 1/4" micro-bits if you have some from other sets.
Tired of beating up your fingers? Pick up one of these little guys!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  One of the handiest tools I've got, May 19, 2009
By Adam Perry (West Orange, NJ)
I was purchasing a bunch of random things I needed and stumbled across this handy little gadget being sold by the same seller. I figured what the heck. It looked like something I may get some use out of at some point so I bought it, and boy was I glad I did.

This tool is fantastic. It is great for getting in all those hard to reach places that a regular screwdriver or Allen wrench won't fit. Whenever I purchase any piece of assemble-it-yourself furniture and they give you those dopey little Allen wrenches, I always grab this tool and it saves me a ton of time. I wouldn't use it for anything heavy-duty, but for light jobs, it's the best.

For the price, nobody's toolbox should be without this.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  exactly as represented, January 26, 2011
By scotty owner (martinsburg, wv)
This is exactly what I was looking for. My husband needed a racheting screwdriver that could get into a small space (without killing his knuckles). It arrived promptly, was packaged well. When the project was done, I had him place it in a used (recycled) container from Tasters Choice instant coffee, to keep all the pieces together for the next job.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A little imagination and a great tool., June 25, 2010
By Nai Chow Saephanh
This tool is beautiful! This thing is beautiful when working on cars. I got into a few tight spaces to remove a car bumper and it saved me a ton of extra work. I would have had to remove the headlights to get to it, but this just went in there and got it out for me! I don't have ANY expensive tools, yet I can do more than I could've imagined with this.

I bought a 1/4 hex shank to 1/4 socket drive adapter for this item. Now i can remove bolts in tight spaces as well! A little imagination really brings out the potential of tools and I believe this tool brings it out.

Being a low budget 20 year old, I know the value of a great deal. The main reason being its ELIGIBLE FOR FREE SHIPPING!! haha. The 2 star review could've bought a nice combination of tools for 25$ and paid no shipping whatsoever. You Do It Yourselfers and hands on workers should know a good tool when you see it, because you probably need it. Buy it if you need it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  good small ratchet, May 17, 2010
By S.B. (Arizona)
I mainly bought the set for the ratchet that came with it seeing as I needed one but did not have one. When i received it I was surprised at its drive simplicity. It works very well with socket extensions and more then likely every bit out there, however it is not magnetized. Even so, every bit I have tried fits into the socket very snug and I have yet to loose any bit I have placed in it. A very good wrench if you only want to take a few bits with you fits right in your pocket and no one is the wiser.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Did not hold up, August 10, 2011
By Admiral P
The design had an average build out of the box, but I was willing to give it the benefit of the doubt, based largely on good reviews here on Amazon. After a few months the ratcheting mechanism is non-functional. This is after perhaps a dozen light-medium duty uses. It has certainly not been abused.

It is small, compact handles all my other screwdriver bits and 1/4" sockets with an extension attachment. It comes with only a couple of bits. I keep it in my PC tool pack and it does a very nice job overall. It is metal not plastic with a ratchet mechanism for both forward and reverse.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A bit handy times two, September 29, 2011
By John Toews (near Vanvouver, BC, Canada)
* its just as described
* small & light.

My son is an alarm system installer and saw mine. He said it sure would be handy for his work vest. He wears the pocketed fishing vest to carry all he's likely to need in attics & crawl spaces. Small & light is GOOD!

So, I gave it to him & ordered another. You say, let him buy his own, but when he comes on a situation, his first words are always 'How can I help?', so its $8 worth of Karma)

I replace several of the existing, non-bicycle bits with metric hex (allen) bits and have it in my bicycle repair kit. Again, small & light is good!

Don't use it often but its great when I need it - beats allen wrenches!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Incredibly useful, April 28, 2012
By Herman Au (Alhambra, CA USA)
stop second guessing. if you think you need this ratcheting screwdriver to get the job done, get it. In my case I moved in to a home where the previous owner installed some odd shaped handles to some of the kitchen cabinets. I could not unscrew the ones that's stuck above the doors under the kitchen sink. I had only about 2 inches of room to work with and the sink blocks any chance I could stick any kind of screwdriver in there to get them out. I looked everywhere and tried everything I could think of with pilers and all and I almost gave up until I found this on amazon. Boy it sure wasn't easy but this is exactly the right tool to get the job done. The Neiko 03044A actually feels very sturdy and gets the job done and done well. I now know that I have another trick up my sleeve next time I come across another one of those tricky screws to tackle.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  What you've been looking for!, March 12, 2012
By wise shopper (Florida)
I bought this to tighten the long large handles on my sliding glass door. It did not disappoint. If you use the correct bit, there is no problem. It was able to fit in the cramped space with room to spare. I tightened these screws to the max and there was absolutely no slipping or bending.
A solid tool and great for the price. Will be using this toll for a long time to come. An absolute must have as far as I am concerned.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great For Limited Limited Spaces, February 9, 2012
By Older than Old
This concept of a screwdriver for "Close-Quarters" is excellent. It is ideal for use in very limited work areas. The ratcheting function works well, without slippage or cam-out. Although this is not a fine tooth ratchet, the degrees of rotation from one stop to the next is still acceptable for most tasks. Aside from that, with a unit this size, the fine tooth configuration may not withstand very much torque. The bit set that is included offers a nice variety of sizes and applications. I added an adapter (hex-to-1/4" square drive) to the set so I could use a few smaller sockets if ever needed. This screwdriver is catagorized as a "mini", but I am pleasantly surprised with its durability. A nice addition to any tool box. GJM

Attached a Cravenspeed GPS mount to my new Mini. Has to go behind the tach- teeny screws, teeny spaces. Good thing I have tiny woman hands/fingers or it wouldn't have happened. This worked perfectly, packaging was easy to get out and shipping was amazingly fast- next day despite it being the day after a holiday. Cannot say enough good things.

My 30 cubic refrigerator had a piece on the bottom of the door that had become unhinged & made a very loud clicking noise when you would open & close the door. I found this set on Amazon for an amazing price. It worked great! The part is reattached & the clicking noise is gone. Without it we would have had to tip the refrigerator on it's side. Very handy tool to have around the house or car.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great for loosening tight screws, December 7, 2011
By Bo (missouri, usa)
This 1/4" drive mini ratcheting screwdriver and bit set works great for the smaller jobs. I mainly purchase this item to remove screws that been tighten so tight or have been in the equipment for long period. I've use this 1/4" drive 3 times since I purchase it and has done it's job. The only time I use this 1/4" drive is when I can't remove the tight screw with a screwdriver. What is so cool about this ratchet set u can carry it in your pocket. Comes with a nice small black bag that holds everything.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Nearly perfect!, September 3, 2011
By KAL Networks
I was looking for an L-style ratchet driver like this and have gone through a few different ones, most of which have protrusions on the back side for other types of attachments. This little tool is perfect - when the bit is out it's completely flat. Perfect for tossing in to a pocket, and the size is actually small enough that it fits in to my bit case between the bits.

The metal's slightly low quality (but then the price is extremely low too, hence the 5-star rating). I'd love to see a more heavy-duty version of this exact same tool, but for the price and the jobs I had in mind, this thing is absolutely perfect.

I can't tell you about the bits since I just tossed them in to a parts box somewhere as soon as I got it - I have too many driver bits sitting around already, but I'd definitely believe that they're not the highest quality considering the price. If you use screwdriver assemblies like this in heavy-duty tasks, you should invest in some high-quality hardware anyway.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very versatile tool, but photos misleading, July 15, 2011
By Thumbmaster (NJ, USA)
This tool is very handy in tight situations such as furniture assembly. Best part is that it accepts standard driver bits. I was going to order it on Amazon but saw it at half the price at my local Harbor Freight. Note that the Amazon photos show that it comes with 32 bits and a bit holder/case. The actual product only comes with 7 bits and no case (see the first photo). But the small size of the wrench makes it easy to toss into your existing driver case. My old complaint on the wrench is that it's way too easy to accidentally trigger the fwd/reverse switch when in use. Otherwise it's a solid addition to any tool set.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  AWESOME! GET IT!!!!, December 23, 2010
By Bryan Lynch (Hollister, CA)
I needed to lower the bed in our infant's crib a few days ago. When I went to actually try and do this so-called "easy" task, I realized that I would have to half-disassemble the darn thing to get at the screws!

I saw this screwdriver here on Amazon and decided to give it a shot.

I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!

The package literally got delivered ten minutes ago and I've already opened it, removed the crib screws, adjusted the bed, re-attached the screws!

Would I use it in some place like a professional auto shop? Of course not...or maybe I would I don't know :-) It's a great tool for the house or the garage and any normal non-superhuman's regular use. The build quality is solid, the thing feels sturdy and it's so freaking simply easy to use.

Just get it. It's quality and it's the right tool for the job. Stop listening to the knit-pickers and just buy the darn thing already!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  shortest driver ever, November 28, 2010

I bought this driver for a specific job that didn't even have clearance for a short 1/4" bit clearance, needless to say there wasn't to many options available to me. So I bought this driver and I ground down the back side of a phillips bit to that little notch that is half way down the shaft of almost all of these 1/4" bits which made the bit about 33% shorter. I searched for hours trying to find something like this. This was the only tool that i found that I could have used for this job. It was a life saver, there is no other driver that could possibly be shorter (especially when you grind down the backside of the bit).

4.0 out of 5 stars.  useful tool, November 6, 2010

This is the type of tool I don't use too often, but when you need it, you NEED it and pays for itself instantly. The build quality is decent, and as long as it isn't abused it should last.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Smaller than it looks, October 16, 2010

This tool does exactly what it is supposed to do. Great for tight corners. Just remember that it is a lot smaller than it looks on the picture.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Does the job, May 18, 2010
By CJ (Hackensack N.J.)
As soon as I got it I went to work doing little things around the apartment that were long overdue and it worked like it should. Good for those tight spots where using a screwdriver or drill would be too ackward. This would have been great when I was installing rear speakers in my car.
The locking mechanism to operate the little ratchet clockwise and counter did "unlock" itself one time, but I simply pushed it back into place. That's the only part I thought could've been a little better. Other than that the quality of the piece seemed fine to me. Solid and simple with nothing that would make me think it wouldn't last.
Very handy to have around.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Tool!, November 14, 2009

I bought this tool to put some mud guards on my car and had to deal with screws directly behind the back wheel. This worked great! Small, but powerful. Highly recommend!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great little tool, July 15, 2009
By Andy L (Astoria, NY USA)
High quality tool (metal housing in case the pics aren't clear). It was incredibly useful for installing a cieling fan where there are plenty of tight spots and your one hand is inevitably holding a fan blade or something. FYI, other brands' versions of this little guy sells for upwards of $12 in many stores.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great for doorknob installation, February 26, 2010
By rprice54 (USA)
this is one of those "why didn't I think of that" tools. I bought it specifically because I had a bunch of doorknobs to install and it works well- except the bits fall out quite easy, which is frustrating when working in a tight space. otherwise it gets the job done.
