5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love this grease. Really, can you love grease?, October 16, 2010
By M. Paganini
This is a great product. I had the most irritating squeak in my bike and it took me forever to discover that it came from the pedal threads. Once I pinpointed the source, all I had to do was to remove them, apply a bit of Phil's Grease and put them back. Now I have a silent bike again.

This is a green, waterproof grease. The consistency is right and it is easy to apply. The tube is plastic (not metallic), which means it will come back to shape after use. Also, it seems to last forever, since the amount usually required to do the job is very small.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Five Star Grease, One Star Value, July 13, 2011
By Matthew Pearson (Omaha, Nebraska United States)
When I was just working on one bike (well, one and a half since the other didn't get as much use), a tube of this grease lasted me a loooong time. So if you have one bike and only rarely work on others, this cost isn't too bad because the tube will last you for a few seasons. Over the past couple weeks, I've overhauled/rebuilt 6 bikes and I consumed this stuff really fast!

I'm not convinced that this grease is super special, but it comes in a convenient container. But if you consume a lot of grease, then a marine grease that costs a fraction of the price can be had at almost any auto store (or almost any store with an auto section). I found some that was almost exactly the same consistency as this grease (except it's blue instead of green). I repacked one of my dad's bike's wheel bearings with it and it rolls better than it ever has (my dad has a standard "test").

Anyway, convenient tube, but this just isn't a great value for a waterproof grease.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great drivetrain lube, espeically in the rain, August 20, 2011
By ElectricNotGas (Columbia, MO United States)
I use this waterproof green grease on my hybrid and road bike drivetrains. Doesn't require much (I use about a dime-to-nickle size dollop over the whole chain and sprockets) and quiets the drivetrain--makes it slippery smooth. An added benefit: it sheds water better than most light greases. Like any grease, don't put it on too thickly or dust from the road will adhere to the chain.
I clean the chain and sprockets first, then put a half the amount I intent to use on my fingers and run the chain through several circuits to get it into all the chain rollers. Then shift over the extent of the rear cassette while running the chain through a rag with the other half of the dollop on it.
Do this every couple hundred miles more or less, and you'll have a smooth running drivetrain all the time.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great waterproof grease, April 6, 2011
By Juan A. Pons (Pittsboro, NC)
If you need a good waterproof grease to lubricate gear that is subject to the elements, this is the grease to get. The tube is big, much bigger than I needed, so it should last me a lifetime.

What can I say? It's nice and greasy. Seems to work. Been using it here and there on my bicycle to quiet some noises.
