Surefire replacement batteries, October 29, 2007

I dont understand why this item is $36.00, when the surefire website itself lists it for $21.
Box of 12 SureFire 123A Lithium Batteries - $21.00 from Surefire website.

5 year old batteries, June 21, 2010
By newbie (Michigan)
|
|
Surefire is the best, their Lithium batteries boast a 10 year shelf life. I am thankful for that, because the batteries I received (from CargoLargo) are already 5 years into their shelf life. That's a bit on the annoying side. The expiration date is printed on the batteries themselves. Mine say 2014. As a comparison, the batteries I received with a new Surefire (E2D LED Defender) are set to expire in 2019. For an extra couple of bucks I could have purchased the batteries directly from Surefire (I doubt they are sending out 5 year old batteries). Which is exactly what I will do from now on.
This is not a slam on Surefire Batteries, merely a seller selling 5 year old batteries for about the same price as new ones. Even though the batteries are still considered good, I would have liked to have the option to store them for a longer period of time. Fortunately, I only purchased the 12 pack, and I'm pretty sure I can go through 12 batteries in 4 years.

good old Surefire, February 28, 2008
By J. W. Mullins (West, by God, Virginia)
|
|
With the number of high performance flashlights that Surefire sales it only makes sense for them to sell batteries, and at a good price. The 123A batteries you find at most super stores will normally cost you quite a bit more than the $1.75 a piece you will pay for these. You can sometimes find a bulk buy that works out cheaper per battery but you really don't know what you are going to end up with. With the Surefire batteries you are going to get a good price on well made, high quality batteries. Like the other reviewed noted though, Surefire actually sells these on their web site for $21 a 12 pack.

Good batteries, but..., July 30, 2009
By wordsaremylife (East Coast United States)

Surefire CR123A are excellent batteries. I use them. Just be aware that they are made by Panasonic. I cannot believe that Panasonic makes better batteries for Surefire, so if you can get a better deal for Panasonic batteries that are fresh (recent dates), then you are saving some dough and getting the same product.

Not too surefired up..., September 5, 2011
By Glock Man
|
|
Although these batteries have a 10 year shelf life out to 2020, the batteries seem half dead like they have been used. I have them in a 15/200 lumen Surefire and a 80 lumen one, and both look quite dull as compared with actual new batteries that I had to go buy to confirm my suspicion. There was no factory sealing on the box so there is no way to confirm if they are new. All I know is they last 5 to 10 minutes then fade out. Maybe a bad batch. Try directly from Surefire.

CANADIANS BEST CHOICE, April 10, 2009
By Anime Domo (Canada)

Fellow Canucks who are being lured away from this Amazon page by the promise of lower prices ($21/box) direct from Surefire may as well stick around and order from here- extensive personal research in the form of attempted web ordering, direct phone calling, and whimpering email pleas have shown me that the Surefire company will not have anything to do with orders that do not originate (ie, have a billing address) within the USA- even, as in my case, if one has a US address to ship to. Surefire is very firm about this and won't discusss the matter even when I offer my Amex or Citibank credit cards. Whether their policy is a self sacrificing expression of patriotism, or reflects a phobia about dealing with frozen foreigners, or what, I have found it necessary to order from these nice folks right here on Amazon- and their price is still the best alternate one I could find for name brand 123s anywhere. One gripe: the batteries I received in my last order are dated about a year ago, suggesting the loss of a year's potential storage but even if I was going to keep them that long, experience with other lithium batteries suggests 10 years is a conservative estimate of shelf life.
UPDATE: SINCE WRITING THE ABOVE, I HAVE BEEN ALERTED THAT BUNDLES OF 'TENERGY' LITHIUM 123s IN QUANTITIES OF 40 AND 50 ARE NOW (12/2009) AVAILABLE ON AMAZON AND AT MUCH LOWER PRICES PER UNIT. WHILE I HAVEN'T TRIED THESE YET, THE EARLY REVIEWS ARE GOOD BUT WITH INDICATIONS THE OFFSHORE BATTERIES DO NOT LAST AS LONG AS THE SF ONES.

One of the best deals for lithium batteries out there, March 23, 2008
By TechnoGeek (Auburndale, MA USA)
|

Nearly all quality high-output halogen and LED flashlights use these cells. But buying them over the counter is needlessly expensive. Since they last about 5 years in storage, why not buy a bunch? For those of us in areas prone to natural disaster, these are a good investment and don't take up a lot of space.

Solid CR123 Battery, June 17, 2011
By Spoonman
|
|
These are boring batteries. However, in the case of batteries boring is a great thing. You put them in your device, they work for a predictable and repeatable period of time, then you replace them. The price is good, the performance is completely unwavering, shelf life is very long. I enjoy the reliability these batteries provide me in my flashlights. SureFire has repeatably proven they know how to make a quality product, and this is just another example of that.

9+ Year Life, March 24, 2011
By John R. Holmes, Jr. (Anacortes, Washington)

Good News. Others have complained about the near expiration date on these Surefire Batteries from Ace Photo. I just ordered some in 03/2011 with an expiration date of 09/2020. That's 9 1/2 years. As for the batteries themselves, I've used them in the past with great success.

Fresh Batteries, March 21, 2011
By steven b ferrari

I just wanted to post a review to let everyone know that the batteries I received today had a Nov 2020 expiration date. I can't speak for batteries being shipped in the future but I can say that I received three FRESH boxes.
These batteries might be a bit more expensive but I think the peace of mind is worth it. I've never had any trouble with any surefire products. I sleep soundly at night knowing that when I'm battling the undead after the zombie apocalypse, my flashlight won't let me down.

Great Batteries Cheap, April 28, 2011
By weather freak (Halifax,MA)
|
|
They came in a nice box for storage, with a 12/2020 expiration date AND they all tested out at the max for a 3-volt lithium battery. These batteries will be used in my Davis VantagePro2 weather stations(3 of them), so I've got enough for 3-5 years. Time will tell how they last, but I'll do the 5 stars for now....Amazon service does not get any stars...bad experience with C/S.

The batteries work great. Even though the surfire website sells them for 21 dollars, after tax and shipping the cost is 30 dollars, so if you have an Amazon Prime account you're better off ordering it from Amazon for the same price with 2 day shipping.

Great battery!, January 6, 2010
By cornpop (Phoenix ,AZ)

I have used 3-4 off brand CR132A batteries and they just don't perform as well in my surefire LED flashlight. With the surefire batteries, I get roughly 20-30% brighter light and over an hour more of usability.
As for the price, surefire has them for 21.95 but they charge tax and 6.95 for shipping. So it's not more people.

Watch out Bunny!, August 25, 2011
By cxxi121 (Roanoke, Virginia United States)
|
|
About 10 months ago I purchased flashlights that required 123A batteries but never had any before. In a short time it was time to get more batteries and I chose the Surefire SF12-BB and have not regretted it one moment. So far these batteries have out shined and our performed the name brand batteries I originally bought. The combination of power and durability makes these batteries desirable and worthy of continued use. Moreover, their being lithium just adds to the value. I always check the date on any multiple set of batteries so that the shelf life will not create a problem later. These have a considerable shelf life and the price differential is well worth the additional cost for lithium compared to regular.

Amazon = Tax and Shipping Compounded in Total, May 27, 2010
By Logan K
|
|
As the title states: Yes the Surefire website sells this pack of batteries for $21, but include their minimum 6.95 shipping fee and their 1.94 tax makes this bundle from surefire cost 29.89. Amazon lists their price as 27.40 (as of May 27th, 2010) and guess what I'm paying after taxes and shipping... 27.40. It's not huge savings but 2.49 saved is better than nothing.
As for the product itself: I have bought this product before and I am now returning to purchase another set. I can confirm that these batteries last just about as long on the shelf or in use as the two previous commercial brands I have used in my flashlights (Energizer and Duracell). For this price and quality, I highly recommend purchasing these batteries. Also, due to the aforementioned shipping and tax fees hidden on Surefire's website I can recommend only one place to purchase them: Amazon.com Don't blame Surefire though, they're following suit with most other websites where you tally the total only after you're ready to pay. Cheers to Amazon for being one of the few upfront websites around. :)

Buy in Bulk to Save, November 23, 2008
By Lodge2 (Texas)
|
|
If you use a high performance flashlight, buying batteries over the counter can be prohibitively expensive. I've seen prices as high as $7 for 2 batteries. Get them by the box, from the manufacturer (Surefire) or your local gun store if possible and you will save money.
These types of batteries have a very long shelf life and can be difficult to locate in an emergency (i.e. after a hurricane or other natural disaster). Stock up and store them in a cool dry place.

Long lasting Li batteries, March 10, 2008
By plm209 (Scranton, PA USA)
|
|
I use these in my Surefire flashlight, and they seem to last forever. There is little to no loss of intensity throughout the entire life of the battery. I am on my second set in my light, and I would estimate the total runtime to be somewhere between 10-12 hours of high intensity run time. Get them if you're looking for high quality Li batteries for your surefire or other item.

Excellent batteries!, January 31, 2011
By BabaK (Kenya)

I'm going to brief and to the point. Surefire lithium batteries are, in my estimation, THE BEST batteries you can get for LED flashlights. They're staying power in astounding!!! I would NEVER consider buying anything less for my LED flashlights...until something better comes along.
Sure they're expensive, but the BMW of batteries should be. Long story short...cheap is expensive!

Surefire 123A Lithium Batteries, January 26, 2012
By Bert Smith
|
|
This is not the first time I have ordered Surefire 123A Lithium Batteries. I have three Surefire lights and always use Surefire batteries in them. They have never disapointed. These batteries last and inspire confidence--they work! Surefire products are expensive, reliable, and well worth the money. Why take a chance using cheaper batteries in such important high-quality ESSENTIAL tools? After all, battery cost is trivial compaired to the cost and importance of Surefire products especially considering that your life may someday depend upon their not failing at a critical time!

Great batteries, great deal., January 16, 2012
By Donald Nisewarner
|
|
If you own anything that uses 123A batteries these are some of the best. This isn't my first box and won't be the last. First of all you are getting a hell of a deal on these batteries at a little over $2 a battery versus getting charged $6 or more a battery at the store for em. Its not really much of a price difference purchasing these on Amazon or directly from the Surefire website as it equals out to very close in the end. The only reason I purchased them on Amazon this time around was because I currently have the "Amazon Prime" trial from my new Kindle and wanted to take advantage of it and got these shipped next day for $3.99 versus around $20 for next day shipping on the Surefire website. Point of my review is, go ahead and pick some of these up if you need them and you won't have any worries about them sitting around for a while because they also have great shelf life so stock up with this box!
UPDATE 4/14/12:
Just wanted to update this post and let you know that I'm still using the first battery out of this box that I purchased back in January of this year.. I've never had any other 3v 123A battery last longer than a month so these batteries are definitely quality and your gonna get your moneys worth. I personally use them in my Smith and Wesson Cree LED flashlight which I use on a daily basis which gives a better example of how long these last.

By G. Bainer (Laurel, MD)

I am very pleased with the Surefire 12 pack 123A batteries so far...although I have not had to use any of them yet, as my current Surefire batteries are still going strong!
I was pleased to see that unlike others had reported with outdated batteries, these are very fresh, with a production date of 06/2010, so they will have a long (10 year) shelf life according to Surefire.
It's very convienient to have a 12 pack on hand, and the price was right. So far, so good...I'll try to update when I actually get to use a couple of these guys...

If you have a flash lite with a Zenon bulb you will need these Batteries. There's not much to say about them. I think they are over priced. But the flash lites you use these in put out a lot of lite. I would'nt use any other flash lite. But beware the batteries only last around 70 min. when used with the zenon bulb type flash lites.

Super performance and dependability, May 26, 2009
By H. Kitchen

These batteries perform well - are long lasting with occasional use - and have very good shelf life. I typically do not use them for extended periods so can not say how they might perform if used for long periods of continuous use. For my situation where they are used for only a few minutes most days they are well worth the cost and will be there when you need them.

Still an expensive battery, January 14, 2012
By Music Fan (St. Louis, MO USA)
|

My Surfire flashlight is small, lightweight, and extremely bright. It blows through three of these batteries in no time. There is never any indication that the batteries are running out of steam; the light just won't illuminate. Thus you need plenty of these batteries on hand. These work fine but are expensive and there are no less expensive options. I bite the bullet and buy these by the box. If I could find them for less, I would. I love the flashlight and pay the price.

They're batteries., October 26, 2010
By Fred Schmed
|
|
I recently purchase the Surefire E2D LED Defender and bought a box of these at the same time. I've had the light for a couple of months now and I'm still using the batteries that came with the light. I suppose they're good, but honestly, I don't know if they're any better than a comparable brand. Maybe I paid a little bit more for these, but I had the $, I'm lazy, and you can't go wrong with Surefire!
So if you're like me, don't waste more time looking for batteries and wondering if they're as good.... Just pay a couple extra bucks and don't worry about it.

Pricey but great product, January 29, 2009
By Justin Bernard (Newport Beach, CA United States)

I've gone through several boxes using my Surefire G2 and G3. Long lasting batteries, stay bright deep into their life cycle. Li batteries are also exceptionally light if you are used to alkaline, a few of these as spares in your pack go unnoticed on the trail. Only downfall I have had thus far is they are pricey. As another reviewer mentioned, these are available for almost half price on Surefire's website, not typical for Amazon.

Great batteries at a great price, December 24, 2011
By Mom of Four (North Carolina, USA)
|
|
We use LED tactical flashlights in our cars, in the barn and around the house, so we go through a lot of 123A batteries. I bought this box of 12 on a whim, and I'm very happy with them. They are strong out of the box and last a long time in the flashlight. We've used a few other brands that seemed to run out of power quickly.
The expiration date on our batteries is 2020, so they came with a 9 year expiration. That's plenty acceptable to me, as these will last about 6 months in our house.
I will order this value pack again when these are gone.

Exceptional long life, May 19, 2012
By David M. Reed (Los Angeles)

|
I have a high powered, police-grade flash light that I use frequently in my work.
I have been so pleased to find these batteries because, in stores they are much more expensive. This little box of dynamos easily lasts me a year (my flashlight uses two cells)
Although I have no technical/electro-chemical insights to offer, I can speak as one who uses these batteries often and has come to depend on them for quality and price
If you require type 123A battery, these are an excellent choice.
I hope this helps, Peace

Unsatisfied with battery life in Flashlight, May 4, 2012
By NikkiP31
|
|
I have gone through a 12 pack of these batteries in 7 months in my rifle mounted flashlight. I only use the flashlight occasionally and when I do, it is maybe for 2 or 3 minutes at a time. I am very unsatisfied with the battery life. The flashlight I purchased claims to have an 8 hour battery life. I was lucky to get 20 minutes or more use out of each set of two batteries. I'm on my last set of batteries now and will be switching to Streamlight batteries. I placed an order for these today.

Bought these when I purchased a ATN350 night scope. All of my lasers and tac lights use these batteries. The only mistake I made was not going ahead and buying the 40 count box for $39. O well, I know where to go back to for more. Amazon is a great place to buy stuff from. What really sucks is that these batteries sell for around $10 each at Radio Shack. WHAT A RIPOFF!! Anyway, which ever brand you get ( I don't think it will matter) Amazon has the best prices on these.

Batteries arrived quickly. They work fine, I will purchase again when I run out. The price is very affordable, I threw out my old batteries that hadn't died yet and replaced with these.

Surefire CR123 batteries, February 21, 2012
By Amazon Justin (Overland Park, KS. USA)
|
|
I will only use SureFire brand batteries in my flashlights. With several flashlights at $100+ each, is it really worth saving a few pennies over replacing an entire light? SureFire lithium batteries are a great product for the price, and stand up next to other brands such as Duracell. Don't waste your money on the other brands!

Surefire 123A batteries, January 9, 2012
By D. Franklin (Irving, TX USA)
|
|
I have not had a chance to use these batteries yet, so I cannot comment on their longevity. The expiration date is August, 2020, and I'm sure I will have used all of them long before that time. They were packed in a factory box. I tested several in my flashlight and all produced a satisfactorily bright light. The price is far cheaper than the brand I've been using, and the other brand batteries have a life much shorter than one would expect. I will amend this review when I've used several of these batteries and can properly rate their life.

Quick shipping, fresh packaging, long expiration date on product (9+ years). Very competitive pricing. If you use a large quantity routinely, there are other packaging options available, at a reduced price per battery.

Only Torch, April 2, 2011
By Trureviewer (Bangalore, India)
|
|
The LX2 is a small, light, ruggedly built and excellently well finished torch. It has a lanyard and a very sturdy clip that easily snaps into your belt or trousers. It has two options for switching on the lights- a button on the back and a twist mechanism on the rear of the barrel. If the button is pressed to half a less powerful light is emitted and if it is pressed all the way the strength of the beam is surprisingly bright and has a great throw. In the twist option, the strength of the beam increases as you progressively twist the rear of the barrel. This ability to control the strength of the light is very helpful. Though there is a warning at the front of the barrel, the area around the bulb gets hot quickly. At its price, a ceramic ring on the front of the barrel wouldn't have been too much to ask for. It is a great tool and if you are inclined towards owning one good flashlight, this is the one.

If you want performance you buy a good (surefire) flashlight. If you want to ensure the light works when you need it get good batteries. Given my needs this product is the best value.

Power me up!, May 13, 2010
By A Simple

My old surefires finally died in my flashlight after about 5 years of casual use in my surefire flashlight. I decided it was best to be prepared and bought this 12 pack. I have a 2nd flashlight now and having several batteries availabe makes me much more willing to use my small flashlights instead of my big maglite.

Pure power !, October 9, 2008
By Asbjorn (Norway)
|
|
I use these batteries with my SureFire Flashlight, and the result is pure power converted to intensive light. These batteries can you use for a longer period than ordinary batteries, and they are more powerful for units that need extra power, such as flashlights.

For something as simple as a battery, this surefires are just the best. They work longer than normal 3volts and their performance with Surefire equipment just work as a team.
