In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.

Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.

Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Quality is Good... Size is Wrong, September 17, 2007
By C. Incao
I liked the gloves but they were way too small for my hands. I have average size hands for a guy but my hands got numb and fell asleep after riding with them. I ordered them in Large... big mistake. They are unusable to me.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Glove review..., June 16, 2008
By E. Miranda
The gloves don't fit me perfetly but they are better than nothing for my spin class. I would have preferred some more cushion in the palm area...

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Can't really recommend these gloves, November 12, 2008
By mark_18 (Berkeley, CA United States)
I saw these gloves for really cheap and I thought...How bad can they be?

Well they are pretty bad. The gloves has sharp pieces of plastic at the bottom straps which jab your skin along the wrists. I don't know if this was a manufacturing defect or its just a badly designed glove. I had to take a scissors and cut out the sharp pieces of plastic in order to wear them.

I don't know how long they are going to last but I don't have high hopes.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  PLANET BIKE GLOVES, June 14, 2010
By Fernando A. Castro (Houston)
I strongly believe you should always wear gloves when riding a bicycle. If you fall down, more
than likely your palms will scrape the pavement and you want to protect them. The Planet Bike Gemini Gel Cycling Gloves are comfortable to wear and nicely padded. My only issue with them is
that in hot weather like that of Houston, your palms get really sweaty and getting the gloves
off is tricky. It may help if you wear gloves that are half a size larger than what you need.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Even XL is too SMALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!, November 18, 2008
By 3495troe
The other reviewers were RIGHT! Even the XL size is too damn SMALL!!!!
This company needs to reevaluate their sizing. I need an XXL size (they don't make this size), so MAKE THEM FOR ME!
Once I managed to squeeze them on, it took an act of Congress to get them OFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Highly disappointed! I gave them to someone with smaller hands.
They must be using Chinamen with small hands to size these gloves. IF you are selling your products in AMERICA, use AMERICAN sizing, as we AMERICANS have larger hands! DITTO!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits fine, falls apart, July 16, 2011
By Ben
Bought these at my local shop for $20. Did the NYC 5 boro bike tour, tore on the joint between thumb and index. Went on a 35 mile ride, tore between every finger on my left hand. Cannot recommend these to anyone.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  I would give them I higher score, BUT, October 31, 2010
By William Peterson (San Diego)
They seemed like nice cheap gloves when I bought them, but
just as I have read in other reviews, after just 3 rides,
the seam between the black fur and the nylon mesh has
started to seperate. I'll keep wearing them until they
fall apart. Made in (get this) Pakistan...

1.0 out of 5 stars.  better off with gardening gloves, September 30, 2008
By kloikos (Rogue River, OR United States)
I bought these because I have always been a fan of Planet Bike stuff. I have found an exception. These gloves are absolute trash. I wore them new on one century ride and seems tore, layers came apart, and the pad design left me with a blister on the inside of my thumb.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  nice bargain, May 12, 2008
By Hao Yan (Torrance, CA USA)
I really like this pair of gloves. Cheaper than anything I could find at my local cycling shop. The gel like the other mentioned is a bit thin compare to the ones I've see at the shop, but they are enough to make me comfortable. The mesh on the back hand keeps my hands dry. The "double-thick terry thumb and index" is also a nice touch. For all these nice features this is a bargain.

I think I have slightly smaller than average hand and I ordered L, it fits me very nicely. It's good to warn people about the size issues, but rating the product at 1 star solely because of that is a bit excessive.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid glove, well built fairly well padded., March 30, 2008
By Mitchell G. Fields
I have only ridden a few miles on these gloves so far and they seem to have been a wise buy. The gel padding is in an ergonomically correct position but could be a bit thicker. Good glove and a good price.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  I didn't receive the right gloves, March 22, 2012
By mmmytch
Somehow, these guys sent me gloves with fingers, and absolutely NO gel in them... the gloves are lightweight, and okay, but not what I ordered. Look, it's not worth the trouble to me to ship them back, I'll wear them, but seriously, let's get our heads out of our butts, and pay attention please!!!
