Nice product if it's compatible with your helmet, March 13, 2008

First off, I love the Take A Look mirror. I recommend that product without reservation.
That said, this adapter did not work on my Atmos. The positioning of the straps and support system on that particular lid won't let me mount the adapter in any usable position. But I am not going to base my product score on that. I think helmet designs are diverse enough that it would be nearly impossible to design a simple adapter that worked on all of them.
But about the adapter, it is just a small piece of plastic with mounting adhesive. It is transparent so it won't be an eyesore when the mirror is not mounted. Simple and effective design. Can't say much more about it.
I like the idea of having the option to mount the mirror on my glasses or helmet, and if this product would mount on my hardhat, it would be well worth the price and I would use it and love it. Sorry to report that I cannot use it. I will just continue mounting the excellent mirror on my sunglasses.

Works great after a little helmet modification, September 8, 2009

I purchased this item to allow me to move my Take A Look mirror off my glasses to a more secure mounting point on my helmet. I absolutely love the Take A Look mirror but I have very thin wire frame glasses that just did not provide a secure mount for the mirror. As others have pointed out this is just a simple piece of translucent plastic with two tabs that are supposed to attach to the foam on the inside of your helmet with included adhesive pads. The problem for me with this approach is that I could feel the plastic piece against the side of my forehead and due to the curve of the helmet foam the adhesive would tend to pull away from the foam on one of the tabs. I fixed this by carefully drilling out two very very thin slots in the foam just thick enough to allow a tight fit for the tabs with the adhesive pads removed. Once I was satisfied with the dry fit I removed the tabs from the slots and covered them with some 5 minute epoxy and pushed them back into the slots. The tabs are so thin that once they are epoxied back in the slots the integrity of the foam liner should not be compromised. A very small amount of foam is being removed here and the void in the foam is being filled by the mirror mount. Now my mirror mount is rock solid and sets about 1/4 inch out from the inside edge of the foam. This provides me a very stable rear view even over bumps. I just leave the mirror attached to the mount all the time, but it would be easy to remove and reattach over and over if you are so inclined. Once the mirror is removed you would barely notice the small portion of the plastic mount protuding below the surface of the helmet.

The adaptor fell off my helmet, January 29, 2008

I strongly recommend that people not buy this product. It does not work. It fell off my helmet and would not reattach. It is completely useless and is now sitting in the garbage can.
This is unfortunate because the "take a look" mirror is a good product. Too bad this accessory is so lousy.

Nice but nor necessary, December 17, 2008

I purchased this at the same time I purchased the rectangular eyeglass mirror. I did not know that the mirror could attach to the helmet visor. I attached my old one to my eyeglasses but wanted another option because my sunglasses are thin wire frames and do not hold the mirror well. For what it is it is not bad but I did find that you need to be careful when adjusting the mirror or the helmet as the mirror can slide off the adaptor.

Nice addition to the mirror, January 13, 2008

Yes, you will be paying mostly shipping costs for a little piece of plastic, but this is definitely prefferable to mounting the mirror on your glasses and you can just leave it on and forget about it. Good investment but it might be best to have multiple items shipped from the seller to offset shipping costs.

Necessary evil, June 15, 2011
By phil (Claremont, CA)

After exhausting options of attaching the Bike Peddler mirror to my sunglasses and helmet, I bought this thing and it works well.
I have an Oakley half-jacket sunglasses and a LAS helmet... my sunglasses have a triangular shaped temple, so it's impossible to attach the mirror to that. Then my helmet is completely curved with no attachment options. I finally saw an adapter at a bike shop and used it. I taped it to the inside of my helmet just next to my temple and it works great.
I found a flat part inside my helmet, and made sure that that position would work. You can tape the mirror attachment part to figure it out before committing your one set of tapes. It does take a while to find the right position so try it without using the tapes first, because the adapter only came with one set!
Because I take off the mirror when I ride with a large group, I attach the mirror not infrequently. Of course, when I was not careful one day, I torn the plastic off of the tape half way. It still works fine but I would suspect that it'll fall off one day. Then I'll either find another set of tapes or even superglue it.
I think this product can be improved... instead of a totally flat piece, there should be a little curve where the mirror attaches. This way, the curve allows easier attachement (and detachment) while the flat part can stay securely taped to the helmet. Another set or two of the tape would be helpful without significantly increasing cost of the manufacturer.

Cheap on the tape, January 29, 2011
By rcsrme

The idea may be great, but they are too cheap on the tape. There is only enough tape for one mounting try. If you screw up, you have to search the world for more 3M VHB tape. Admittedly, I made the mistake of mounting it incorrectly the first try, but 100:1, I'm not alone in that stupidity.

Good eyeglass mirror with usual issues, July 9, 2010
By B. Schneider (Yorktown Heights, NY United States)

The mirror mounts easily to glasses and holds adjustment very nicely. Optically the mirror is excellent. Very light weight. After using it for a few months, I ended up replacing it by a handlebar mirror, because (a) I never quite got used to adjusting my sight into the mirror, (b) the backwards field of view is limited, yet (c) the mirror blocks out a noticeable area in my forward field of view. All these issues are intrinsic to the concept of helmet/glasses-mounted mirrors and not a problem with this particular product. Other riders may adapt more easily to using eyeglass mirrors.

Works exactly as it should, June 22, 2009

Can easily see everything that is behind you and attaches securely to my sunglasses. Seems a bit heavy though and does weigh down my glasses, but nothing you can't deal with. A very solid buy.
