About Planet Bike
In November of 1996, Planet Bike was founded in Madison, Wisconsin. In many ways, Planet Bike began as a social experiment that dedicated itself to doing business in a different way. Instead of being just another company that develops and sells products with profit as its end goal, Planet Bike wanted to help bring about positive change for people, their communities, and the environment.

Despite being a simple machine, the people at Planet Bike have always believed that the bicycle has great potential to help improve the world and the lives of the people in it. From the start, they have embraced an alternative corporate purpose which seeks to help get more people on bicycles by making communities friendlier places for the self-propelled. By donating 25% of company profits to causes that promote and facilitate bicycle usage, Planet Bike hopes to make an impact.

Social experiments aside, Planet Bike was born from the heart of a cyclist with a goal of making innovative, high quality, and practical bicycle accessories. Simply put, they strive to design and develop the best bicycle products in the world. In the company's short ten year history, they have made important product innovations within the bicycle industry. Advancements include the 4-line computer which is now a standard in the industry and the world's first self-contained HID light. Not bad for a company that ten years ago started as a one man operation. Today, while still a small company, Planet Bike continues to evolve and improve their product line with the goal of always striving to build accessories that make it easier for people to ride their bikes. Since 1996, Planet Bike's financial support of the grassroots bicycle movement has totaled $500,000. By 2010, they have made a goal to donate $1 million to organizations that are dedicated to making America a friendlier place for cyclists.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Inexpensive, Works Well, Looks Good, October 16, 2009
By WryGuy2 (Arlington, VA)
I bought two of these water bottle cages to add to my new bike. They're light weight, reasonably attractive (they look exactly like shown in the item description, including the colors), and sturdy. They attached to my bike's braze-ons easily. I have two sizes of water bottles (20 oz and 24 oz) and the bottles fit snugly into the cage. And after several hundred miles of riding, I can postively say that they work well.

My only nit is that they didn't come with screws to attach the cage to your bike. But, for the price, they are still a very good buy.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works. Reasonable price., July 30, 2009
By Penny Joshua (Miami, FL)
My local bike shop was selling a similar bottle holder for $10 each. I bought three from Amazon for $15 total. I was worried about bending them to fit two different shaped bottles - a regular spring water bottle and a 16oz Nalgene bottle - but I was able to do it without breaking anything. So far so good.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect Fit, April 26, 2010
By HF (New Bern, NC, USA)
Bought two of these for mine and my husband's bikes. I have a women's comfort bike and he has a mountain bike and a road bike. The cages fit all three perfectly. All three bikes had predrilled places for the cages. Just take out the screws, put the cage on and re-screw. Done! Would certainly buy again.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple and Effective, May 2, 2011
By Jaun Carlos
Background: I bought this water bottle holder in red for my new bike.

The Color:
The red is a brilliant and vivid red. The product pictures for this item are accurate (as far as the red goes).

The Cage:
I use two different water bottles, a Polar 24oz - Thermal Insulated Bottle Big Bear which this cage holds snug and secure, and a 27oz Klean Kanteen Stainless Steel Water Bottle which the cage holds in place reasonably well.

More About the Klean Kanteen:
My Klean Kanteen (w/ sportscap) is my main water bottle, so it spends a lot more time in this cage than my Polar. At first I was nervous using my Kanteen in this cage because on first use, it slid into the cage very easily (too easily), and seemed very loose in the cage. It even rattles around while riding, making a distinct chattering sound. This chattering has left minor scuffs on my kanteen, which is not a big deal for me, but might be for someone else?

But now that I have filled your head with fear, let me tell you why I STILL use my Klean Kanteen with this cage: The water bottle has yet to fall out of this cage. Despite the apparent looseness and the chattering, the bottle has never slid out on a ride, or even when I pick my bicycle up to carry it over obstacles, up a flight of stairs, or into a building. Somehow it just holds it in place, and when I need to grab the bottle for a quick drink on the road, it slides out very easily and quickly.

Conclusion:
This cage is simple and effective. It is well made and light weight, and my red cage looks nice. The price you get here on Amazon for this cage is also pretty good.

Extra Notes:
This cage does not include mounting hardware. Most bikes already have the mounting screws attached, so just use those if you have them.

UPDATE 6/22/11:
I bought two more of these for my mountain bike in black. The black is sleek looking with a matte finish, and looks excellent on my matte painted mtn bike frame.

UPDATE 8/1/11:
I bought another set of these in white for my new gloss/sparkly white road bike. The white cages are plain white (not sparkly like my bike) but look fine on my bike. I would describe their color as true white. I have also started using my Polar bottles almost exclusively, but should mention, that my Klean Kanteen STILL hasn't fallen out of any of my 5 cages.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  AWFUL PIECE OF JUNK!!, September 16, 2008
By Felix The CAT (ohio)
I'M all for an economical price on needed products-as long as they WORK!

I call this product a "one time purchase" product.
You buy it, it doesn't work and/or work properly or
breaks-you don't buy it again!!

How could PLANET BIKE put their name on this piece of junk??
PLANET BIKE- of all people, who possess some of the BEST bike taillights
and FENDERS at the best prices anywhere???

The only angle I can reckon for this-----
-Cheesy bike shops who give customers "free gifts" for a bike purchase
then "install" it for "free".

-Big box "general stores" -who must carry some of everything.

-"Occasional" cyclists, who ride once or twice per year and need a place
to park a Pepsi can.

The only water bottles that work with this cage are the $1.50 "baby plastic" type bottles, which leach deadly PVC toxins into your vitamin water, even these bottles fit this cage so tight,
they deform beyond recognition when removed!

SUMMERY-
For about twice the price of this "water cage", you can buy an exquisite
DELTA INOX stainless steel cage, which will outlast your bike!!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid water bottle cage for a great price, May 7, 2009
By Indulgent (Boston, MA)
There's not a whole lot of fancy components to speak about when you're talking water bottle cages, but this Planet Bike one fit the bill perfectly for me. It holds my water bottle solidly and I never have to worry about it jumping out of the cage.

The only problem I had wasn't the cage's fault. I have a woman's bike, which, due to the lack of crossbar, means there's very little space to fit a cage between the two diagonal bars. The screws are not as tight as they could be since I couldn't get a good angle to tighten them, but the cage still works perfectly!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does what you'd expect, April 18, 2009
By Stephen Morris (Crestwood, KY USA)
I'll admit to not being that in to bottle cages. I've not tried unique designs nor fancy materials. This is a well made, attractively finished and lightweight cage that works exactly as it should with my CamelBak Podium 21-Ounce Bottle bottles. The construction was sufficient that I was able to gently bend the frame outward to allow a slightly looser fit. This product lives up to my experience of buying well made and reasonably priced products from Planet Bike.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  it's nice but........., July 28, 2009
By judissi <>< (St. Simons Island, Georgia United States)
it seems to be a nice water bottle holder........my biggest problem with it is you have to either buy (which I haven't found) a separate piece to actually mount it to your bike or drill holes in your bike, which I wasn't willing to do. Guess I should've paid more attention. Mine are going back.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Not what I expected, but it works..., October 7, 2011
By M. Ram (San Jose, CA, USA)
I ordered this cage thinking it would be glossy black like the photo; it's actually more of a flat, dark graphite grey. Also, while it's made of metal it's very thin around the loop. While I do have to tap on the loop for it to fit my Klean Kanteen metal water bottle, it does hold nicely and doesn't scratch as easily as I thought. Overall a good deal.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Good price, but paint wears off, August 14, 2011
By Value Finder
Good price and it holds the bottles without any problems. After a week or so I noticed some blue on my water bottle. The paint comes off the bottle easy. I looked at my blue water cage and the paint is wearing away. It leaves a rough gray finish and the bottle is not as smooth as when it was new. So it does the job, but you get what you pay for. I bought two of these and the second blue cage does the same. I think I should have looked for a different finish (may be anodized), but I'll keep these for now.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Fits my Giant Roam 1, holds my Big Chill bottle too!, October 12, 2011
By Tony L (USA)
I have this cage installed on my Giant Roam 1 bike and it works wonderfully. The quality and construction are sturdy. I don't think the cage will break unless it is really abused.

My Camelbak Podium Big Chill (25 ounces) fits well in the cage.

Note that it does not come with screws, so you will have to provide your own.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product, September 7, 2011
By PrincessMia
I was skeptical about this one at first since the price is so low, but it works perfectly. My bike has pre-drilled holes and hardware, so I just attached it to the bike. I also purchased an insulated water bottle which fits perfectly in it. This has snugly carried my water on the road and off on the trails. This is the one to buy!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly as advertised, great price., July 18, 2011
By D. Beekman (Ohio)
I bought two of these bottle cages, one for my road bike(black) and one for my mountain bike(silver). They are very sturdy and fit the standard bottle cage bolts that come on most bikes. I've had a chance to try them out and my water bottles fit perfectly, with a snug fit, but loose enough that you can access your water during a ride with ease. For the price I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a simple, lightweight bottle cage.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  standard water bottle cage; cant ask for more, June 1, 2011
By Raymond F. Kozlowski
This is your standard water bottle cage. very lightweight aluminium construction. can be bent easily to fit any size water bottle very securely. doesnt come with the hardware to attach it to your bike frame, but most bikes come with the frame screws already on your bike frame, so just take them off, place the water bottle on, and screw it back together. easy-peasy!

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy - but hard to use, May 18, 2011
By Natalie050 (Utah)
This product looks very nice on my bike and is sturdy, but I find the design difficult to use. It makes it difficult to return my bottle to the holder while I'm moving - which is pretty important. I wouldn't buy this type of holder again, but for the price I can't really complain.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does what it says, May 15, 2011
By Long V.
The cage itself didn't come with any extra screws, but I just used the ones already on my bike. It fits bike water bottles fine, even as the second cage on the bike. It did not fit my Camelbak (as expected), and holds a normal water bottle loosely.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  light, solid, good price, April 16, 2011
By Nikwax (Portland, OR United States)
In my mind, a waterbottle cage should be nearly invisible. It does a job and you don't think about it. And it shouldn't cost much ($65 waterbottle cages?? really???) .

This cage embodies what I expect from Planet Bike: well made, good price, excellent value. And it's black, which is the fastest color.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great low-end model at a bargain price!, April 1, 2011
By Angie
This is a good product for many reasons.

First, it has a wide range of colors to select from. So it isn't necessary to go for the ubiquitous black bottle cage. I got mine in white and it really stands out on my blue Trek.

The price is unbelievable. For the money I paid , this bottle cage does everything that a high end brand like Topeka would,so it's a steal if your looking for something and not willing to dig deep into your pockets.

They attach real quickly to your bike however do not come with the hardware. I already had a preassigned area and hardware on my bike to fit the cage so all I needed was an allen key. Please be wary though if your bike does not come with the hardware. Even if your bike doesn't have the standard specs, there is some leeway to adjust the cage.

The only thing that concerns me is how this product will hold up to the elements. The product seems to be powder coated but I wonder how long will it take for the paint to chip of and it begins to rust.I will leave the speculaton to the buyer.

All in all great product for the price!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy, slightly adjustable, rugged., January 6, 2011
By Research For The Best (PA)
I am no a byciclist. I work in an industrial setting where bikes are the form of transportation. I needed a durrable bottle holder to hold up to my bikes outdoor storage and the rough ride that is found onsite. This holder worked beautifully. I have two of them mounted, worked fine in each position. A byciclists review may differ from mine because i dont know if this is a good weight or what criteria they use to review a bottle holder.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good cage!, September 25, 2010
By incinerate4505 (CA, USA)
A nice water bottle cage. It's solid and very stiff, even compared to other aluminum cages. Also looks great and shiny on my shiny silver road bike. It could have been cheaper, for something that just holds water, but it's already inexpensive compared to most.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Well made, priced right, September 20, 2010
By Matt In Reno
A great product, works well and looks great on my wife's bike. I just might pick up a pair in black for my bike! She uses them on her road bike, but the larger diameter of the tubes makes the larger (24oz) bottles more stable on rough roads. Well worth the price for a good product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  I use it on my Schwinn Exercise Bike, September 7, 2010
By DPK (NY Metro)
I needed a water bottle holder for my exercise bike. This was the cheapest and it looked decent so I decided to give it a try. This unit does not come with any bolts. Luckily I had the bolts already attached to my bike, so all I had to do was remove the bolts, pop this one on, and put the bolts back on. Easier said than done right? ...not so.

The holes on this unit were smaller than the bolts on my bike. Most people would have to return it. But me, being the handy man, decided to enlarge the holes with a drift punch and a wrecking hammer. After about 10 minutes of pounding, I made the holes large enough to accept the bolts and I put it on my bike.

I wouldn't do it again but for $5 bucks, who cares.

I should note that the cage can be bent with some effort to accept smaller or larger bottles.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  SUPER!!!, August 6, 2010
By P. Mizulski
For about the price of a pint of Guiness at you local pub, you can score one of these super lightweight customizable cages. This thing does a fantastic job of keeping my bottles intact on my road bike even over some nasty bumps. What's really cool about this cage is that you can easily shape the aluminum with you bare hands to custom tailor for differences in your typically sized bottles. It may be a few butterflies heavier than a 50 dollar carbon cage, but it's so strong and versatile, and so darn cheap. You can't possibly pass this one up. I have to admit I was eyeballing one of those 50 dollar Batmobile looking "aero" cages (they're so cool looking), but my frugality got the better of me, and I'm so glad I passed it up for this timeless, efficient, lightweight, and reliable design. Grab one. . . or a dozen. You won't regret it. Oh, I almost forgot. As mentioned before, you will need to have two mounting bolts handy.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  made in CHINA so return to sender!, October 3, 2011
By hujev (Alaska)
Ordered this since I figured most 1/2 decent bike parts now made in Taiwan, the real junk in china. Also PB makes a big deal of being all people-friendly and so forth.

So I assumed this'd be Taiwanese, but was disappointed to find they saved a few pennies manufacturing it in china.

So I returned it since i don't buy chinese and don't want anything chinese on my bike!

Anybody remember 1989?

I'll keep looking for an old Blackburn or at least something from Taiwan.

So when it comes time to buy a water bottle holder for your bike, you may find yourself wondering if you should invest in something that looks a little sexier than a bent coat hanger. Why bother - the coat hanger has been serving mankind for generations.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A-OK, December 19, 2011

My bike is mainstream. This fit fine and it carries my standard water bottle snug. The only problem now is that Amazon demands 20-words for a review.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Standard Water Bottle Holder, December 22, 2011
By Justin Cardenas
I used to have one of the more expensive versions (different brand) that could expand to hold a larger water bottle for long bikes rides. Unfortunately the elastic part that stretches over the bottle snapped within a month and I ended up biking several miles with a water bottle in my hand. After that I spent a whopping $5 on this one and have had no issues. It just can't hold really big water bottles. Make sure you bike has a place to mount this before purchasing though. Most do but not all.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Bear Spray Holder, November 28, 2011
By Tony Ramos (Cleveland, OH USA)
I like to keep by bicycle load-out light and fast so when it came time to purchase a utilitarian item for my bicycle such as a water bottle holder, I wanted to consider all of it's various alternate uses. I mounted two of these cages to my Trek and use one to secure a can of Super Magnum Bear Spray (2% capsicum, 35 ft range - see my review). This spray comes in handy as a self defense tool in both urban and rural environments. My daily bike routine takes me through current Occupy Wall Street squatter encampments near Central Park and, at times, I have found a need to defend myself from large groups of armed assailants. This cage, equipped with a can of bear spray performs that job flawlessly!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Save Your Time And Money, January 4, 2012
By W. R.
You get what you pay for! There is really no good way to mount this. There is no hardware that comes with it. By the time I go to the hardware store to improvise something I could have bought a better one for less time and money. I won't be using it. And, for what I paid for it, it's not worth returning it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great!, October 16, 2011

This cage was easy to install.
It does the job..
You can bend it so that you can take your bottle out easier
Bending the cage in this case would be a good thing

Well there is nothing amazing about it but its not flimsy and feels really strong and doesn't bend easily. Its a good choice if you just want function.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap and attractive, July 16, 2011
By H. S. Gray (Exeter, UK)
I went for these (in white and gloss black) because they look pretty simple - in my opinion far more attractive than the more complicated and fancy designs out there.
Both have worked well - have never had a bottle bounce out (one is mounted vertically, one on the angle), and the finish has held up well.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great for the price, but agree - hard to return bottle, July 7, 2011
By Ekat (Costa Mesa, CA)
pros: price, slick design. cons: a bit tight at the middle, you have to push the bottle in, or you have to bend the cage to be more open.

Your basic water bottle cage. Holds water bottles like it's intended. Easy to get out, but won't fall off when riding. A solid product.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple, light, and sturdy, November 26, 2010
By Vincent Stout
A simple water bottle holder that works just fine for me. It's a little snug on the water bottle I have so it's a little harder to stick in into the holder, but it certainly doesn't pop out at any unexpected times.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  It is what it is, November 2, 2010
By Jace Hirschi (SLC, UT)
This is a great, no frills water bottle cage. It isn't light, it isn't fancy, but it does the job.

I didn't give it 5 stars simply because it is sooo generic and average. Perhaps it's 5-star in terms of average-ness.

Bottles are easy to insert and remove and the non-glossy finish seems like it'll stay looking nice for as long as I care to keep it.

Yup, it's a basic water bottle cage. Does exactly as it should. Welded together so it seems sturdy enough. It comes with no mounting screws though so have a pair ready.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Quality Product, May 18, 2010

Cage was as espected. Manufacture welds and finshed are both high quality. Could be lighter (if carbon) but wire size and attchment frame are a reasonable compromise between weight and durability.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple bottle cage, March 12, 2010
By M. Hatfield (Florida)
Simple- clean looking and pretty lightweight. Fits standard bottles fine but required a little adjustment for larger (28oz) bottles and can be a little difficult to get out of the cage- but material bends easily. For the price- it gets it done.

Excellent product fror retaining water bottles or bottled water that is the same diameter throughout its length. Bottled water that narrows near the top are unstable and can fall out when jousled.

I likes the design of this carrier, and the price was so much less than the big store so, I got it. I put it on in no time and it holds all kinds of different sized water bottles which I use. 'Nuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does what it says, January 23, 2012
By theruined
Sturdy, easy to install, lightweight, and stylish. I accidentally ordered a matte black one (the default black) instead of glossy, still doesn't look too bad on my bike. I ordered a second, glossy to compare. I like them both so far and they do as they advertise. I bought the CamelBak Podium Bottle to go along with this cage and I get no wiggle, movement, and I'm never afraid of the bottle falling out. I also have the Topeak Pocket Rocket Master Blaster Bike Pump installed behind one of these and it fits perfectly.

Great cage, low price, why not!?

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Effective. Super Effective., April 12, 2012
By Saari
I bought this with some hesitation but it is absolutely meeting the needs of the water bottle I have saddled there within. I was concerned that it was just a cheap piece of crap, but it turns out that this is exactly the kind I grew to rely on back in the late 80's and 90's. I thought I might have to purchase the more expensive brand for $11 or $12.00 dollars. Personally, I don't think that is necessary, unless a customer is concerned about aesthetics. This is a straightforward black metal device. Slap it on the bike, take yourself for a ride, drink the beverage you put in the water bottle and get hydrated and get yourself in shape along the way.

Approved for purchase!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  it is what it's supposed to be, March 28, 2012
By G from Lodi
it is what it is, it meets my expectations - moderately priced medium duty functional water bottle cage, nothing special but absent accident or theft I expect it to function for the life of my bike. Finish appears more than adequate for my needs, I expect chips and scratches to eventually match the rest of the bike, but I would not be surprised if three years from now I find myself impressed by how well it holds up.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Standar bottle cage, February 21, 2012
By Bernardo Gomez (Los Angeles, CA)
This is a standar bottle cage. You don't need anything fancier. It doesn't come with mounting screws so if you belong to the 1% that doesn't already have them in your bike frame you have to buy 2 screws.

The only reason not to buy this cage is if you are crazy about weight, in which case you should be looking at carbon stages.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Inexpensive, Strong, and Light Weight!, May 14, 2012
By DB BluBlock Productions (Maryland, US)
As far as I'm concerned this is the best bottle cage out there. It costs next to nothing, pretty much weighs nothing, and fits like a glove. It holds my Polar Bottle Insulated Water Bottle perfectly and keeps it snug, even on rough landings and freestyle downhill.

Keep it mind that it DOES NOT come with the two bolts to hold it onto the frame, but most bikes that aren't from big box stores come with the bolts already in the holes.

I have two of these cages for all day treks when its 90+ degrees. I simply take off my Topeak Peakini II Mini Pump and add the second cage for extra water. Then toss the pump in my backpack with a third hydration bladder and some stuff to munch on and smooooth sailing.

Go ahead and get a couple of these, just keep in mind that you will need the bolts. The holes on most mountain bike frames are sized and threaded to accept a 5mm x .8 bolt, so pick some up before your cages arrive in the mail... its far less frustrating that way!

This is everything I want in a bottle holder. It's lightweight, strong, easy to get the bottle in and out and comes in lots of colors so you can get one appropriate to your bike. Not to mention it's pretty cheap. I'm very happy with it.
