Great product, May 28, 2010

I bought this bike rack for a east coast tour of the U.S and have driven a total of 3000 miles. All the bike's have made it safe and sound during the whole trip. The rack is robust and mounts rigidly to your rv's bumper. I am very pleased with this product.

check the bumper distance to rv, February 7, 2011

My bumper was too close to the back of the rv and the bike rack would no bolt around the bumper. I drilled the bumper and mounted the rack through the bumper.
Worked fine until the weight of the bikes bent the bumper down. The product does what it states.

Perfect fit for our need!, December 7, 2010

I bought this after searching for years for a bike rack that would not bounce like crazy on the back of our 30' 5th wheel RV and also allow us to keep our spare tire back there. Works perfectly. We put two adult bikes and a boy's bike on it.
My only negative (and the reason it is only 4 stars) for it are that they give you no good way to secure the bikes. Pretty much, prepare to buy several tie down ratcheting straps and do it like you need it. Seems odd to have to do this for a $150 bike rack. The vertical bars are not spaced correctly and have to be moved around to work right. They still work after you move them, but I suggest those water noodles to protect the bikes.
I know that I needed to add some wedge blocks behind the bumper between the bumper and the bolts to insure it is not sliding around while traveling. I have about 3/4" of extra space. This space is needed to make sure it fits an assortment of bumpers, so it is not that big of a deal, but Swagman should consider offering some type of spacer to tighten it up that is secure instead of me having to make wooden wedges that hopefully stay put.
The positives outweigh the negatives for me, but a few small changes on Swagman's part would make this a 5 star, must have piece for RVers.

Not a bad bike rack!, September 20, 2010

We purchased this rack after purchasing a ladder style bike rack for our Travel Trailer. The ladder on the back of the camper is to close to the side to use a ladder rack so we went with this bumper mounted rack. I e-mailed Swagman and asked if this rack would work with a bumper mounted spare tire and they assured me that it would. It does but, you have to do a lot of adjusting and you will get your bike's on. This is a four bike rack but, with the spare tire you can only get two adult size bikes on it. The rack is very sturdy and assembly is a breeze. We only carry two bike's so this worked ok for us. We will use this until something better comes along.

great bike rack for a family of four, April 15, 2011

this bike rack works great for our family of four, we have room for all of our bikes. before purchasing the bike rack, we looked at lots of different options and this one was the best priced option we found for fitting all four bikes on the back of our camper. we weren't sure how this one would work with our spare tire already on the bumper but it wasn't a problem, everything fits just fine. we are really happy with our purchase.

very durable, April 24, 2012

Very happy with the carrier, had to do some modifying as my bumper was too close to the trailer and had to mount carrier to the bottom of bumper instead of on top as there was no room to attach the bumper bolts. Also had to relocate one of the tie bars because of the spar tire.Overall appears to be very well made.I will give it a test run the frist camping trip the end of May.I did not give the carrier a five because i thought the tie bars could be designed better to secure the bikes. Finally because of the spare tire i can only carry 3 bikes instead of 4 which is fine as there is only my wife and I.

Luckily my husband has power tools because the holes in this bike rack were in the wrong places. After drilling the holes correctly the bike rack worked great.

really only a 3-bike holder, August 23, 2010
By naturegirl

We put this bike rack on our camper but can only fit 3 bikes on it. The bike that would sit closest to the camper is too close because of the handlebars. No real way around this. Also, we have to mount it so the tires fit in the wider spaces rather than the closer bars to get all 3 bikes on together. The lower back of our camper is sloped forward toward the tire so the bumper and rack probably sit closer to the camper than if the back was completely straight up and down. The bikes stayed on with no problem and it was much better than trying to cram the bikes inside the camper, but for us we can only fit 3 so we still have to find a place to carry the 4th bike.

Well made item, August 1, 2010

I have tried various bike racks and this is the best by far. I've done two long trips with the racks on the back of my trailer (RV) and they have held up well. No vibration or shaking. They bikes stayed in place. It was very easy to install.

This item did not work for my motorhome. Bumper was not strong enough to hold four bikes.

Excellent Quality, November 28, 2011
By Jim (Philadelphia, PA USA)

Excellent build quality and very, very sturdy. I was able to mount these next to my spare tire in a way that neither the spare nor the bikes (two adult mountain bikes and one child's bike) extend beyond the sides of the camper.
Having the spare tire on the back does not significantly reduce my bike storage, I just need to be a bit "creative".
Highly recommend this to anyone with similar storage needs.

Purchased this item for our RV. It seems sturdy enough, but very dissappointing that all the parts were not there. We had to run to the hardware store and purchase many bolts etc. For the price you pay this company should make sure all the needed accessories are with the product.
