Great cyclocomputer for a great price., June 3, 2005
By MikeUm (Twin Cities, MN)
|
|
The Micro Wireless is one of the newest additions to the Cay Eye Companies long line of trusted cyclocomputers. I had a hard time choosing between this and a more expensive model with heart rate and cadence.
I decided to go with this and purchased a separate wrist HR monitor for around 25 bucks. It saved a good deal of money and could be the solution to one of your concerns.
If you are looking for a basic model without wireless: I suggest checking out the "Enduro 8"; it is cheaper and has most of the basic features (without wireless and backlight).
With that said: I really like this model, it's smaller and has more features than the Enduro; wireless and back-light. It was easier to setup and quickly switches between bikes (with the purchase of a second mount/sensor kit.)
I broke the computer mount in a minor training collision and Cay Eye sent me a replacement mount for free. I suggest you "defiantly get a cat eye", especially at this price; they have great customer service and make an excellent wireless computer.
(I have used this product for six months.)

Catey Micro Wireless, November 6, 2006
By The Vinman (Queens, NY)
|
|
I bought two units. One for my bike and one for my daughter's.
Installation couldn't have been easier. Ten minutes per bike and I was done.
After installation, all you have to do is input tire size and width and you're ready to go.
A good test to see how accurate these units are was taking a ride with my daughter being that we have two different size bikes. Ater reaching our destination, both units read exactly the same mileage. The unit is very unobtrusive on the handlebar and very easy to read. I won't go into all the features (you can read that in the item description), but I believe it has all I'll ever need.
We are both very happy with this product.

Excellent choice, May 12, 2007
By K. McMahon (United States)
|
|
Of the many choices you have for a bicycle computer, give serious consideration to this model. It was a snap to install, is accurate, and provides all the basic information you'll want. The wireless feature is pretty cool, too, making the install very clean. The price is tough to beat, so unless you want cadence or heart rate functions, give this unit a look. I think you'll be happy you did.

Pleased, and would buy it again, March 17, 2007
By Jerry (Tempe, AZ)
|
|
This is the first bicycle computer I've purchased but CAT EYE provides a rosetta stone of guidance in no fewer then twelve languages and with their instructions I installed my computer in just a few minutes.
I use my bicycle daily to commute several miles to and from work as well as for recreation on the weekends and after several hundred miles my computer is still performing flawlessly.
My only complaint is that some careful button pressing technique is required to reset daily trip time and distance. Two buttons must be held for the reset but part of the same button sequence changes modes between bicycle one and bicycle two.
For the price I would happily order another computer for a second bike and forego this feature in favor of more intuitive display of ride-leg information or perhaps even an additional button to simplify reset.
The best designs promote intuitive operation but I'm happy with the product and with practice I'll master the technique.

Worked for several months but now randomly moves to zero MPH, August 16, 2008
By Air America Listener (Needham, MA USA)
|
|
I used to really like this device, but lately it intermittently will go to zero MPH and thus my miles do not get recorded. For example, on a route I know is 22 miles it will only say 17 miles -- that is a lot of missing miles. When I watch the display it will be correct, but then suddenly go to zero MPH. I'll then be biking and fiddling with the device to wake it up and then it will start displaying real numbers again. I don't trust it and now must go spend the money and time finding / buying / setting up a new device. So, just be warned that although it initally is a good computer within a year it turned out to be worthless...

Cyclocomputer, May 14, 2007
By Cheryl (Sterling Heights, MI USA)
|
|
The computer works good at keeping tract of your speed and distance. The amount of time it took to get it was very short. I think that the owner's manule could be a little more straight forword, and the instructions on how to navigate through the different settings should be more clearer to read. Other than that, the product is well worth the money.

Compnay that sold this has no customer service, January 13, 2008
By G. Kleespies (Chicago)
|
|
I bought this bike computer as a christmas gift for my girlfriend but it turned out that her parents had also bought her one and she had opened that one first. I wrote to the retailer, USBIKEBARGAINS, through Amazon and asked if I could return it. I said I would be happy for store credit and would just buy some other bike equipment. However, the company never even replied. They didn't acknoledge my email and they can't be found on-line. I wouldn't suggest buying this, not because of the product but because the retailer is either really badly run or not really a company.

Cateye Micro Wireless, October 30, 2007
By Benjamin Nemec
|
|
Great product, directions for operation a little confusing but once you get the hang of it it's great. I like the wireless feature, much better than wires lining your bike frame. I recommend mounting on the rear wheel fork and rear wheel. This will allow easy transport and taking off and putting on the front wheel.

I use this at least 4 times a week. I really use the MAX speed a lot and have gotten my folding bike up to 42.1mph. The interface is a little confusing at first but once you get used to it, it's not so bad. I will probably buy another for my fiance and recommend this to anyone looking for a computer.

Excellent Product, July 24, 2006
By David R. Lawson (Waxahachie, Texas)
|
|
This is a great help when working out with the bicycle. I can tell how far I have gone and in what time I make the trip. This helps to decide what kind of work out I would like to do and how fast to do it based on my physical condition on that day. You see I am 56 years young and really am not able to push as hard as most people would on a bicycle. So I have to be careful since my heart attack.

Lots of info, but beware of interference, October 1, 2011
By Brenda F. Bell
|
|
In terms of capturing information, the only things this baby doesn't have are cadence data and power data. That said, if you put it in "automatic" mode -- preferred for urban riding, when you are doing a lot of traffic stops -- it is highly prone to radiofrequency interference from everything from store security scanners to laptop computers. I have seen it tell me I'm riding at 75mph when I'm standing still at a red light, and I've seen it change my odometer information overnight between logging a ride on a training journal and putting it back on my bicycle in the morning.
The newer, higher-end wireless models are apparently less prone to interference. That said, I'd rather run the wires and have accurate information.

As advertised, January 11, 2007
By DAVE S... (SHELBY TWP., MI United States)
|
|
I was Not impressed with the directions on installing it.
They assumed a little too much!
But it works well. The way it attaches to the front spoke doesn't seem like it's strong enough for rough riding, but I haven't had a problem in the 100 or so miles I've put on it yet So?
I frequently remove the front wheel to take my bike with me in the car and it doesn't interfere with this, which I like.
Bottom line I'd buy it again!!!

Wireless is limited, December 30, 2009
By C. Wolf (Pewaukee, WI)

I purchased these for my daughter and son-in-law. Unfortunately, it didn't work for my son-in-law's bike. He wanted to put it on the back wheel, so he could use it indoors over the winter. That made the distance a couple of inches too great for the wireless function to work.

Great device/substandard instructions, October 17, 2010
By Tobias2801 (VA)
|
|
This is a great device in terms of functionality and due to the zip-tie mounting option it fits thicker handlebars and forks (my bike is a Cannondale Synapse with a carbon fork). I agree with some of the other reviewers that whoever authored the instructions should get fired. They are in diagram form only and it took me forever to figure out in which sequence I was supposed to push buttons to get through the set-up. I am pretty computer/tech savvy but this was certainly a new level of a challenge. Once done, this unit has been great. I deducted one star because of the manual only, not because of functionality.

Cateye Wireless Computer, September 29, 2010
By mac4
|
|
This Cateye computer is bullet proof in the AZ sun and survises crashes well. The LED does not fade nor does the acyrlic leans. I have had other that do. You can leave on the bike all the time. Read out is very easy to read except for down hill, rocky runs. This is probably because you have to stay focused on the trail. The unit is very accurate once programmed correctly. The buttons are easy to push on the fly. I have several of these on different bikes, all with no problems. I have been in rain storms and left bike in rain over night and unit is sealed. No fogging of the leans from inside of unit. Great computer.

Works Great, September 12, 2010
By Chuck-O
|
|
I recently purchased the Cateye Micro Wireless computer from Amazon. The directions were easy to follow and installation took about a half hour including programming the computer. The bottom line is that it works as advertised. The display is easy to read while riding and pressing one button allows me to see basic time/distance/speed info. I like the wireless feature as my bike has a suspension front fork and I don't have to worry about any extraneous wires. I've had no problem with the wireless transmitter. The whole unit is just "set it and forget it". I couldn't ask for more and am happy with my purchase.

Cat Eye, January 30, 2010
By roadbiker (Wisc)

This is the second CC_MC100W I purchased. I bought a new bike and told the guy at the LBS to put a computer on it, and didn't specify. I liked it alot and bought a second one for my other bike. I had some trouble programing it. I called the 800 # and they talked me through it. Then I realized what I was doing wrong. (Felt like a dummy) Great buy.

Great Computer, October 26, 2009
By DocC3 (Chicago, IL USA)
|
|
This is a great product and has worked perfectly for me. I am happy with the clean look of the wireless installation on my bike. I know other people have had difficulty getting wireless computers to work properly or to work properly in cold weather. The computer has worked perfectly for me on several rides in the mid-30's and rain making me believe that the key is proper installation. The installation was a little challenging for me because the instructions are not clear. The drawings are a little crude and the English translation is awkward. It took me about a half hour of looking at the directions and then holding the sensor on the bike to make sure I had it right, but then the installation was straight forward. Calibration was easy, once I spent a few minutes reading the directions carefully.

Mounting system is not good but the computer is great!, May 15, 2009
By M. De Paulis
|
|
The computer is great, it has a lot of functions and features and the wireless works very well. The only thing I was dissapointed was the mounting system, it is with nylon ties while the Strada Wireless has the "FlexiTight" Bracket Mount which has a faster installation. Besides if I need to switch it to another bike is faster and I don't need to have spare nylon ties with me.

Inexpensive way to calculate speed, time, and distance., April 19, 2009
By J. Snell
|
|
I wanted a way to compute speed, time, and distance, but didn't want to spend to much since I wasn't sure if the information would be useful. I'm not training for anything. I mostly do 1 hour mountain bike rides and short rides to campus. I was just curious how far I went. This simple bike computer does the trick.
The instructions are a little scary looking, but not too difficult to follow. Just read carefully first. I was up and running in about 30 minutes. The computer itself is simple to use. The MPH is the big number, and I keep mileage on the the small number. Once I'm done riding, I note the numbers and I'm done. It's nothing fancy, but a good place to start if you don't want to spend too much up front. I may upgrade to a bike computer that can store and upload info to my laptop later, but for now, this one works.

Great cyclocomputer, September 9, 2008
By E. J. Stringer (Jacksonville, FL)

Although I don't have experience with any other cyclocomputers, this model covers everything I desired. It was easy to set up, and the options are fantastic. I'm not sure I could ask for more. Cycling through the readouts is a breeze and doesn't require great concentration while going down the road. I've owned it for several hundred miles now and it has been flawless.

Catey CC-MC100W Micro, July 21, 2008
By J. Ferguson (NW Arkansas)

|
Very Nice product that preforms as advertised. I used it on a mountain bike over rocky trails, mud and tree roots without problem. I would recommend this item. Very easy to read and work the buttons while riding.
The only complaint is the sensor is not strong enough and must be very close to the spoke to pick up a signal 1.5cm. If it varies or bounces around, then you loose the signal.

Works great - wife loves it!, June 5, 2008
By gryphon1911 (Reynoldsburg, OH)

|
The wife and I love to bike ride just about everywhere. We ride for both fun and exercise.
My wife has wanted a bike computer for a long time. I did some research and found the reviews of this unit favorable.
The unit seems small, but the display is easily readable and the backlighg works well.
The 2 main things that she wanted were a trip odometer as well as a stopwatch feature to help determine how long we have been riding.
The installation was easy, and I am not mechanically inclined. The only slight hiccup is navigating the menus for the initial setup. Other than that everything else was easy to get working. I recommend keeping the instruction sheet as you will need it to accurately setup the wheel size if you ever change bikes and it does not have the same wheel size.

This bicycle computer is the best on I have ever purchased, and the most accurate. The instructions are easy to understand and installation was quick and effortless.
When I first installed this computer the speedometer readings were so different from my last speedometer, I tested its accuracy against my friend's Prius. Turns out, this is the most accurate by far!!
Can't recommend enough.

Nothing Good to Say, October 17, 2007
By Tony (NY)
|
|
Right now this product is sitting in an open box on my desk. When I installed it on my Mongoose it turned out that the sensor and the magnet were too far apart to get a reading. Nothing stated that it would not work with a Mongoose bike. The only way I could find this out was to open it and install it. When I tried to return it to the retailer, Niagra Cycle Works, they refused return because it was opened. I would appreciate it if any one can tell me how I would know it didn't work unless I opened it, I would love to hear it. I have contested the charge on my credit card and will see what happens. I will probably lose but at least others will see this and hopefully cost Niagra Cycle Works more then the stinking $40 it cost me.

Getting the job done., October 16, 2011
By wideasleep

The purchase process was fine, as I have come to expect from Amazon purchases. I installed the computer on a Novara Safari which is a touring bike. The wheel size wasn't in the standard chart provided so it required some research. Other than that, the process was simple. The computer is accurate and so far very reliable (couple hundred miles). I do have a difficult time reading some of the readout but I pay less and less attention to the computer as I am riding so it is no concern to me. Wireless is nice. I am very satisfied.

Buyer of Cateye for over 20 years, October 16, 2011
By Timber Merchant
|
|
One thing I know about Cateye Cyclocomputers is that they are manufactured well and sell at a price point that won't leave you crying. I currently own three units. One for each of my bicycles.
I recently tried another brand that cost approximately the same as the CC-MC100W. Unfortunately, I had nothing but trouble with it. When it finally quit working, after less than 6 months, I bought another Cateye.
I don't think I'll ever stray from the brand again.

By MICHAEL OSULLIVAN (Palmdale, CA)

For the price, this bike computer does everything I needed. I have been using it for over 3 months. It reports speed accurately, keeps good time, and is easy to carry around given its small size. The speed is very easy to read. The other measurements can be difficult because of the small size, but I have gotten used to them. Installation was a breeze and it stays in place nicely.

Cateye Wireless, April 27, 2011
By W. McMillan (Atlanta, GA)

|
This is the second Cateye micro wirelss I've purchased and it has performed just as well as the first one that I've had for 5 years and it's still working. The new one was purchased for a second bike. It's very compact but easy to read and it just works day after day year after year. The batteries are the inexpensive cr2032 that you can find almost anywhere. The display battery last about a year and I have yet to replace the transmitter battery on my old one after 5 years. The display info is nothing fancy but the usual speed, trip, odometer, avg. speed, max speed, etc. I don't give 5 stars to many products but this one just earns it.

Compact and easy to use, but need good eyesight, February 2, 2010
By Michael S. Brown (Santa Barbara, CA)
|
|
I bought the Cateye micro wireless because I was looking for a compact bike computer with a basic set of functions. Works great, easy to set up, easy to rotate through the functions. My only complaint is that while the speed is easy to read, for my old tired eyes the distance and the other functions are a little on the small side, necessitating use of the backlight more often than I suspect other people use it. It's especially tough on grey days and late in the afternoon. Other than that, it's everything I need.

confusing instructions-great product!, June 24, 2009

First, thank you for your fast turn-around on this item. the cateye micro cyclocomputer is first rate. the operation is straight-forward and simple.
all functions perform as advertised and the accuracy is excellent. getting through the set-up instructions was the most difficult aspect of operation although that wasn't really too bad either. I use the bike for my daily commute (4.5 mi. each way) and keeping track of mileage, top speed, average speed and elapsed time adds interest to the ride. I really like the wireless feature most of all. Overall a great product!

Everything you need, April 17, 2009
By Scott SD (San Diego, CA)
|

I bought this computer from Amazon after purchasing a Cateye Vectra wireless from Performance. When I got the the Vectra home I was surprised to discover that it didn't actually "compute" anything. It was really just a speedo/odometer and a clock. No trip distance, time, average speed. Nada. Who would want that? Anyway, Performance didn't offer the Micro wireless so I got it here for about a buck more than the Vectra cost me. The mounts were the same so I just left them on the bike and returned the new ones with the Vectra to Performance for a full refund. The Micro has all the basic functions you need and works great.

Wonderful product! Very nice design. I had no problem installing it and no problem using it. I read lots of complaints about the instructions included with this product, but found them fairly easy to follow.

This thing is great. Wish I had one when I was a kid. We had the old school speedometers back then. Now the computers supply all the data about your ride you could want. easy to install, simple to program. You will not be disapointed.

Works for me!, March 20, 2008

I love this bike computer. Read some reviews about how difficult it is to set up, and yes the instructions can be at times overbearing, but I slowed myself down, used common sense here and there, and in the end didn't have problems beyond the initial mounting of the units (at first couldn't figure out the exact placement of the transmitter unit). The computer settings were actually very easy to do, it's all about the tire size.
I have been using it for 117 miles now and personally love it! The speed seems to be very accurate, and did an odometer check the first commute into work by comparing it to Google map calculation (which would be using a pre-determined auto route), and it was spot on (we're talking off by .2 miles and this most likely is due to the bike route being a bit different)! It won't get you into YouTube, figure out your taxes, or send email for you, but for the cost it's a wonderful little bike computer.

More features than I will ever use ..., July 21, 2006

Installation was more user friendly and more simple than with wired units from Trek whose instructions seem to be all in Chinese. The unit works well on my mountain bike and keeps me informed through an intuitive interface. Their are more functions on the unit than I will ever use. Kind of speaks to the need for a co-pilot to keep one abreast of all the information the little unit makes available. The price was right. I am satisfied so far.

good computer, March 29, 2010

I owned two previous wired versions of cateye computers, I like the product but suffered with issues regarding the cable, so decided to give a try with wireless. Easy to install, configuration and functions very similar to my previous mity and enduro models, so far so good after three weeks of light use, time will tell if it keeps working great. My bike is an XL Scott mtb and 70 cm distance from computer to sensor seems a more than adequate clearance to feet any mtb.

Dual trip timers, dual wheels sizes, many features, a lot for me (the weekend biker). The backlight feature is great at night! Buttons could be a little bigger.

Easy Installation and Great Features, August 6, 2007
By E. R. Stahl

Many have complained that the instructions for the Cateye Micro Wireless aren't good. This may be true. However, the installation is so easy that it seems like complaining about a milk bottle not telling the user how to pour it. Granted, if you've never installed a cycle computer, this may be an over-simplification of the situation. However, for the most part, the diagrams show you what you need to do.
As far as the performance of the unit, I have logged over one hundred miles in the last few weeks and it has performed flawlessly.
It's small, VERY LEGIBLE, and appears to be accurate. I highly recommend it and hope that you all will be as pleased as I am.

Unreliable, November 16, 2011
By Stephen J Boyle

I have had this computer for about 6 weeks. I use it on my mountain bike. I find it to be unreliable. After one ride it said that my maximum speed was 96mph. A few weeks later it reported a maximum speed of 74mph. I have never gone faster than 30mph! Another time it completely reset itself to the factory default - all data gone. This happened overnight while the bike was sitting in its storage closet. A friend bought the same computer a week after me. She has had similar problems. I'm returning the unit. So is my friend.

Great Starter Computer!, November 7, 2011

I recently purchased a bike and needed something to track my time and mileage accurately. The Micro Wireless is perfect! Installation was pretty easy. I did put the mount on backwards despite the arrow indicating proper mounting position. I was fortunate to have some extra zip ties. I think the best feature is being able to unclip it from the bike and bring it inside so I can put my data on my spreadsheet and keep track of it easily.
My only two complaints is that the bottom display can be hard to read, especially in mid/low light. This could be because I mounted it on the stem instead of the handlebars. My second complaint is that the light is reminiscent of a digital watch from the 80's. Yes, it technically has a light, but it doesn't help much while riding at night. I find it easier to ride under a streetlight.
As a beginner cyclist, I think this is a great model to start out with.
