Sturdy, but bar with attachments may move, September 14, 2010
By Stephosaur

Pros: -good for short distances -sturdy, bike stays in place -easy to put on and remove -does well even on bumpy, unpaved roads
Cons: -where you place the bike itself can move when traveling further distances -when straps are pulled too tight, I'm afraid the rack might scratch my car -probably shouldn't be used for three large bikes, two at most
I bought this product mainly because I needed to take my bike to and from school everyday since I commute to my university, and it seemed to have great reviews and a reasonable price. I first tested out the rack with mine and my boyfriend's bike for a 10 minute ride to a bike trail. The rack worked pretty well and was sturdy with holding both bikes. However, I can't imagine having three bikes on this rack, unless they're all relatively small because getting my boyfriend's on after mine was a bit tricky. So for this short trip, I was very happy with the rack.
Then came my trip to school, where I drive about 45 minutes to get there. I wasn't sure how the bike would do since I was traveling on the highway. The bike did stay put the entire trip, but when I got out to take off the bike, I noticed the right bar where you place the bike had slid forward against the 2nd bike holder. This only seems to happen when I drive to and from school, so I usually just push it back and continue no problem. Either way, the bike did stay put, but I wouldn't recommend having more than one bike for a longer distance.
Other than that, it's not too bad. My boyfriend's house is on an unpaved road, and driving through there the rack had no problems whatsoever. I can easily take the rack on and off within less than five minutes, which is good since I remove it at my school to prevent it from being stolen. As for the extra long straps, I just use the rubber bands they came with and fold them up like they came, leaving just enough room to still be able to slide them on and off.

Great Purchase, August 28, 2010

My husband and sons drove from PA to Iowa for the RAGRBRAI event. They had 3 bikes in the carrier. They had no problems with the rack during the entire trip. Didn't rattle, didn't lose any bikes - great investment.

Bike Rack, July 14, 2010

This bike rack was easy to install on my mid-size sedan. It didn't require any adjustments on a 200 mile trip. The main challenge is putting youth bikes on this rack.

I bought this bike rack and followed the instructions to a T and after coming back from the park with our 2 bikes on the back I noticed scratches on the paint i mean deep scratches not the kind you can buff out so if your using this rack go very slow and place towels or something underneath so it doesnt damage your car

The Real Deal, October 9, 2010

We purchased this via forCycling and used it on our 2007 Chevy Cobalt sedan with a wing. We drove from Philadelphia, PA to Bar Harbor, ME and back without one problem. My husband read every single review on this site before it ever arrived and later proclaimed that the majority of them couldn't have been more wrong. His oh so very manly opinion is that anyone who had a problem with this rack probably wasn't using it correctly. It was safe as the days were long and an excellent value for the money. Don't hesitate!

Hollywood Racks E3 Express 3 Bike Model....Absolutely Great!, October 22, 2010
By Randolph E. Whitmire (Rochester Hills, MI)

I relocated to another city from Michigan....and drove with my bike securely attached to the Hollywood Rack E3 Express (3 bike model as my wife and I will use it). Not a vibration or movement of any type...during 11 hour trip....through driving rain, winds, etc...at speeds in excess of 70 mph....consistently. Cannot say enough about how satisfied I am... Great value for the $$ But be sure to use extra bunggie cords to secure bike(s) in addition to those provided by mfr.
