5.0 out of 5 stars.  Be Careful and Choose the Right Size, August 1, 2006
By The Automation and Control Guy
My shirt size is "M" and this strap fits fine on me, considering that I used it totally extended, so don't be fooled by the XXL size. Buy only the X - XS only if you are really skinny.

Also be aware that this replacement strap can't not be used with the old transmitters (T31 or T61), I know is obvious, but just in case.

If your Polar wrist watch came with one of the old transmitters, you should seriously consider changing it for the Wearlink. One big improvement from the original transmitters (T31 or T61 transmitters) is that with this model (the Wearlink) you only have to buy a new battery and replace it once they ran out and your transmitter is ready to use again. With the original ones you have to buy a new transmitter every time the battery dies, since the whole structure is sealed. So if your Polar wrist watch came with the T31 or T61, wait until the battery is finished and buy the Wearlink transmitter instead, you will save a lot of money over the years (compare the 39.95 US$ that the T31 or T61 cost vs the cost of a replacement battery).

The other big advantage is that the Wearlink transmitter is more confortable to wear, since it adapts better to the shape of your body since even the electrodes are flexible and are embedded in the fabric. Being flexible and all makes it easier to storage it your pocket when your finish training or if you are traveling.

In summary a great product for your Polar HRM, and a smart improvement if it is time to replace your old transmitter. Don't buy another T31 or T61, buy this one instead.

I run with my Polar six days a week, and probably train about ten hour a week with it. I used to have the T31 with my first Polar (the M61) so I can tell you first hand the Wearlink is far better. In summary more confortable, easier to wash, and a money saver. I was more than happy to trow the old one away after I bought this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Poor design = not durable, May 2, 2009
By cmp (Berkeley, CA)
The new design is superior in a number of ways to the original wearlink strap: it's more comfortable, easier to put on, and the transmitter does not touch your skin (and therefore isn't exposed to sweat). Unfortunately, there is a serious weak link in the design: There is a metal hook at one end of the strap that catches onto a fabric loop at the other end, holding the strap together. The fabric loop isn't strong enough, and mine tore off after about two months. You'll see similar complaints in other reviews. There is no easy way to repair the problem. Unfortunately, if you need a replacement strap for your wearlink transmitter, this seems to be the only game in town.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great replacement, but be careful of the size, February 17, 2011
By Susan Quilty
I bought this Wearlink+ strap to replace the strap that came with my FT60 heart rate monitor. The FT60 originally came with the M-XXL strap, which had an okay fit, but I replaced it with the XS-S strap.

The new strap works with the FT60 and fits comfortably, so I'm glad that I went with the smaller size. However, people between sizes may want to go up to the M-XXL strap. The XS-S strap says it fits 21" - 38". My ribcage is 29" and the strap fits comfortably when it is almost completely extended. It seems like it might be too tight for someone with a 38" ribcage.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Poor Strap Re-Design, January 3, 2010
By keyalus (Acworth, GA United States)
I have been a longtime fan of Polar products. I recently purchased a new Wearlink transmitter and replacement chest strap. I immediately noticed the chest strap redesign. The chest strap now uses a side-hook and loop combination to fit around your chest instead of a snap design. I was very skeptical of the longevity of this type of design and my skepticism was unfortunately rewarded. After only 2 weeks, the thin black fabric loop of fabric near the side hook peeled off. Then after little more than a month of fairly light use (3X/week, 45 minute sessions) the stitching that creates the loop for the side hook ripped off completely. I can no longer wear the strap so I am without a heart rate monitor again. If mine ripped after such a short time, I can only imagine how long this strap will last as a whole. The version with the snaps lasted me for years. Why in the world did they change it?

2.0 out of 5 stars.  A huge step backwards, July 17, 2011
By Cito (Santa Fe, TX USA)
I've been using Polar HRMs for 13 years, and this is the first backwards step I've seen.

My complaint is not in performance (as long as the product does not fall apart) but in the increase in complexity and consequent number of points of failure. And the failure of many of those parts.

For some history, the old chest (T31) transmitter was a single piece of composite material (the transmitter was internal and did not require a battery) and a simple strap that connected by two twist-snap locks. No external batteries, no pads that had to be soaking wet, no sewn-on loops of different stuff for a bra-type connection, no snap on transmitter. In short, it went from being about 3 pieces of material to being something like 8.

For all I know it's partially outsourcing, but when my first Polar HRM (1998) chest strap literally fell apart due to old age, the replacement T31 was a Chinese manufacture, as are the "Wearlink" versions now being sold. My 1998 Polar still works, but the LED died, so I went to the S725X when I upgraded, which included the Wearlink strap and it's snap-in transmitter.

The original out of the box unit was OK for about a month before it went psychotic. It often displayed HR of zero, or would take fantastic jumps of 49-60 BPM out of the blue, and stay at unrealistically elevated HR for minutes at a time before dropping from say 188, back to 128.

So I replaced the battery in the transmitter, and it seemed to work OK for a while, then the same stuff started again, so I ordered a couple of more straps, and for a while got better performance, until they started falling apart. These things are made of so many materials that it's just incredible: there are the pads that have to be soaking wet (where a little sweat was all the T31 needed to get a signal), and the elastic components are individually sewn in to the material (it looks like vinyl) that holds the "sponges," and then there is the transmitter, which has to be snapped into the strap.

After receiving my replacement straps, I noted that the "sponges" were very poorly attached to the strap: after just a few rinses to get the sweat out of the pads,, they began to detach from the vinyl (or whatever it is), and began, again, to show erratic transmission behavior: HR of zero, or of 280+ BPM, indicating I wasn't just exercising, I was either dead or in the electric chair.

And then one of them just fell apart. I was out cycling and just felt the strap go loose: the sewing job that was supposed to hold the vinyl loop that the metal "bra hook" goes in had just unraveled and fallen off. So I tied the elastic band in a loose knot over the strap to keep in on until I got home, examined it closely, made a few comments I shouldn't make here, and threw it in the trash.

And ordered two more straps, since I was down to one spare.

The newer ones, I am glad to say, seem better constructed, and, in particular, have some kind of conducting threads in the sponges, and, so far, they work. But I still have the first spare strap I bought for the S725X, and just for the hell of it, I soak it thoroughly (these straps REALLY have to be SOAKED to work), and it still will jump my HR, just if I'm sitting in a chair by 50 BPM out of the blue. The "sponge" material on it, like the OEM strap is separating from the "vinyl" or whatever crap these things are made of, but that's what these early versions were: crap.

As for the newer ones, they seem to be made a little better: they have integrated a metallic thread into the "sponges," and seem more reliable as long as I don't use any of the FIRST THREE WEARLINKS I bought, but here is the telling thing: my old 1998 HRM required TWO straps to work for 10 years, and the first one was still working at 8 years until the plastic just cracked from old age. My new, high-$ S725X has required, at a minimum, 3 straps to work 3 years, and I keep two in reserve because I know their failure rate is so high. And here's another oddity: although Polar discourages the use of the T31 transmitter with their new high $ HRMs, the new model's don't discriminate. When I had that bizarre behavior with my OEM Wearlink strap, I tried using my old T31 and the S725X read it like the bible. I was worried that I didn't know the tech well enough to discriminate why Polar only wants us to use the WearLink vs the old T31, so I went back to using my (now) many wearlink straps, but it's all planned obsolescence to me: Polar has outsourced to China to make crap that fails so reliably that I will keep buying more of their failed crap so that China can keep producing and Polar in Finland can keep making profits.

And if you're wondering why I bother with their products at all after all this: it's not loyalty, it's continuity. Polar also has the proprietary software that works with their hardware. Formerly a serial connection to your PC, now IR, but either way, I have a 13 year contiguous record of HR data. If I switch brands, I might lose it.

But as for the Wearlink Strap: I know for a fact it started as crap. If the costs bothered me and I had no continuity of record to think of, I would have sent back the S725X and everything that came with it - particularly this strap, which requires 20 times the maintenance and has 1/10th the practicality of Polar's former products.

And just because the last 2 I bought have seemed a little better built and haven't technically failed or physically actually fallen apart does not particularly encourage me, and it shouldn't encourage you. If you're looking for a good self telemetry device and are doing it for the first time: I advise you to do some more shopping around.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  This will fix your polar, January 6, 2012
By S. Sykes
My 2-3 year old polar was not working properly. Would not pick up a signal, or if it did it showed my HR at 216 BPM. I changed out the transmitter battery, no change. I changed out the watch battery, no change. I got this strap and now my polar works as good as new. So if you polar HR monitor is acting flaky get this. Kudos to Polar for not charging a rip-off price for this essential item.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  seemingly designed to break, January 15, 2011
By Camp (San Francisco)
[ASIN:B000OL06A4 Polar Wearlink Strap]

By design, it's inevitable that the loop which the metal hook slips into will rip. Now if it happens in 5 years, that's acceptable to me. But that is not the case as pointed out by other reviewers. I can think of several easy ways that that loop can be reinforced that won't incur more cost... Why won't polar do it? This shouldn't discourage you from getting it because you got no other choice. But if you know how to sew, this problem can be addressed.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good product but will not hold much more than a year, February 6, 2010
By Moss (IL)
I am using Polar HRM for more than 10 years. The new belt is by far much more convenient, however even if you will be very careful with it - never wash it in the washing machine, wash it in cold water by hand and keep it straight all the time it will wear-out within less than 2 years. According to Polar it should hold about a year on daily use. I would expect more for such a price.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Better than the old version, November 11, 2009
By Aaron E. (New York)
I had an older version of the wear-link that I used for a number of years. It snapped closed in the front, one snap on either side of the transmitter. I ordered the old version because that is what was pictured. They kept sending me this new strap. I sent it back twice. Then I went to a running store and all they had was this one and not the old one. Then a light went off in my head shortly after while on a run that they designed the new one to fit the old transmitter. Duh . . . if only they had put that in the product description. Amazon was really great about me returning the first two straps. So when it hit me that the new version would fit I ordered a new one. I was relieved when it DID actually fit.

It is more comfortable against the skin than the older version. It is also much easier to use since the transmitter is mounted on the strap and the hook that is slightly off center is much easier to use than snapping the strap to the sensor when you want to use it. Over all I think it is a much improved design. The only failing was not making it clear that it replace the original strap and could be used with an older sensor.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly What Was Needed, February 1, 2012
By H London (Michigan)
I was on the verge of buying a new HRM as my Polar F11 has been acting completely flaky lately. I've had it for about 3 years and within the past few months the watch was picking up odd readings, either way too high or low or nothing at all. It was a crap shoot weather it would work properly or not. Changed batteries in both the watch and the transmitter, no help. Per another review here, appears a new chest strap was the answer. Sure thing, HRM seems to be working great. Heck of a lot better spending less than $20 to get it working again than spending $120 for a whole new unit.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Buy the Garmin Premium Soft Strap Instead, September 18, 2011
By fatmaggot (Undisclosed)
I have a Polar FT60 HRM watch and have been replacing the straps with the same strap (the one sold here, the wearlink strap) for a year and a half. Although this strap is more comfortable than the standard rubbery ones, the Garmin premium soft strap that came with my Garmin 610 GPS HRM watch is way more comfy. I tried stapping the Polar sensor into it and it works perfectly (awesome)! So I buy the Garmin premium soft strap from now on. It does not have the mesh layer at the chest contact points which tends to get stinky on the Polar strap with repeated use. The entire strap is just a soft elastic band, no hard parts. I hardly even know I am wearing it. It costs a little more, but the comfort is worth every penny (to me anyways). It is available at heartratemonitorsusa dot com. [...]

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Does what it is meant to, July 16, 2011
By H. S. Gray (Exeter, UK)
I deal with these straps daily both for myself and for work in a sport science lab and they work well, are easy to wash, and will stand up to very vigorous day to day use. It is important to rinse them after ease use and wash them in the machine once per week for hygiene and connection reasons. Other than that no special care is needed.
They do work well in the water - something to consider if you want to track all forms of your training.
Keep in mind that these replacement / additional straps are not meant for use with the Polar Team2 transmitters (the connection spacing is slightly different). The M-XXXL size will work for the majority of people (anyone over 130 lbs).

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works well., January 15, 2010
By TR from WA (Seattle Suburbs)
Bought this to replace the original strap that came with my Polar strap. As stated in other reviews, this new strap has changed from the older one that came with my watch. It no longer attaches directly to the transmitter on both sides. Instead it attaches at the end with a metal flat hook. The hook goes into a loop that is made of some sort of rubber material.

Others seem to have had problems with this system and the loop tearing. I can see how that can happen. However, it has worked fine for me so far. I do agree that the older system was probably better for longevity. The newer style does seem less stiff & more flexible.

I'm 6'2", 275lbs, and this strap is at its maximum length & fits me. But if you are any larger, you may have to go with the XXXL size strap.

Overall, I'm satisfied. Am happy with the Polar watch monitor system. Works as advertised.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Wearlink Replacement Strap, March 23, 2009
By K. McLeland
I was having issues with my Polar heart rate monitor. I rinsed and washed my previous strap as indicated in the directions and had replaced the battery on the coded transmitter, but I was still getting unreliable heart rate readings. As soon as I replaced the strap, the Polar heart rate monitor worked correctly again.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Doesn't last very long, May 26, 2008
By J. Mijares (San Francisco, CA)
I previously posted a glowing review of this product, but have deleted it and am posting this new one.

I got this to work for about three months, then it stopped working. The strap is definitely more comfortable than the older models, but I've already gone through two of these in the past six months. I'm not sure what's causing it, but even some Polar users on Polar's Forums have run into the same problem.

Instead of this product, I'd recommend the older Polar T31C Coded Transmitter because it doesn't have the same issues with breaking down. Mind you, you can't replace the battery, but the T31c will last you about two years vs three months.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Better than original, April 17, 2008
By Peach and Zeke (Midcoast Maine)
I received this strap as a replacement to the original that was included with the purchase of my S625X HRM watch. The picture that is presented in Amazon shows the strap with connections at the ends to attach to the chest transmitter, this is wrong. The replacement strap is a WearLinkII that has the connections to the transmitter offset from the middle on a contiguous portion of the strap, not at the ends. I called support because they did not send what was pictured. They told me that the other strap is no longer made, this is an improved model and I should try it to see if it works. It does, very well.
Something should change on Amazon to eliminate any confusion, picture or description.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  A less costly alternative to the Garmin Premium strap, December 31, 2010
By H. Lapo (Virginia, United States)
Ordered this to replace a Garmin Premium strap. Works just fine with the Garmin HRM, but this strap is not as easy to put on. The Garmin strap just clips right in front, snap it in and head out the door. With this strap, I have to close it on the side and spin it to get the pads in place. Not a big deal, and it is comfortable enough. It is also significantly less expensive than the Premium strap that it is replacing, so I'm satisfied.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  works well, March 3, 2012

I bought this to replace a faulty strap. After several years of moderate to heavy use the original strap stopped working. The watch would show the wrong heart rate (off by 50+) or no heart rate. The new strap fixed this problem. It is comfortable enough that I sometime forget to take it off after exercising.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Great unless you move, January 14, 2012
By Fixed Gear Tom (Bucks County PA)
Polar Wearlink StrapI purchased this due to ongoing problems with my original belt used with my rs300x - works fine if upper body is stable (bike, elliptical) but poorly if hiking, using a weight vest, climbing etc. Contacted Polar twice - never responded. New belt did not work when hiking either. Yes the belt was tight, wet, positioned properly etc. I even used contact gel. Then bought an "old style" t31 paired - note, yu must get the PAIRED belt - and everything is now fine. T31 Coded Hrm Chest StrapIt appears Polar has had numerous problems with the wearlink and decided that it is simpler to blame the customer (and to not respond when they e mail customer service).

A bright note is that Amazon has accepted my request for a refund

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Problems late in workouts, July 14, 2011
By Chris
I bought this to replace another Wearlink+ strap that began to show significant drops in HR late in workouts (hovering at ~60 BPM during HARD efforts late in a ride and/or run). Sadly just days after receiving this new unit, it began to do the same thing.
I was using this strap with a Garmin watch as a replacement, and ended up finally replacing it with the newest strap from Garmin.
I was happy with the first Wearlink strap I used, but the second one was a dud.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Love these things, June 29, 2011
By Paul Brzezinski (Royal Oak, MI United States)
I have several of these and love them. I use one T31-Coded transmitter and rotate through my collection of wearlink heart rate monitor straps. I think these straps work better -- especially for swimming than the older T61-Coded transmitter [it uses a different strap]. The T61-Coded transmitter had a tendency to roll over on itself on the initial kick off. I rinse the strap under luke-warm water after using it. After about 5 uses I throw it in the washing machine and then let it air-dry.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great as replacement strap for Wearlink 31 Transmitter, June 19, 2011
By Brett Z. (Chicago, IL)
This is a perfect replacement for my older Wearlink 31 Transmitter. This new strap is lighter, and easier to get on and off. No issues with receiver picking up the signal as long as I wet the electrodes first (which is the same as with the older strap). This is how the strap should have been designed in the first place.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great strap, just make sure you get the right size, April 29, 2011
By R. Norris (Sandy, UT USA)
I bought my Polar heart rate monitor last Fall and within a couple of months it would no longer find a signal. The strap that came with the watch was too big and I was constantly cinching it up tight, which ended up ripping the seam a bit. I finally broke down and bought a smaller size and haven't had any troubles with it. Make sure to rinse it after every workout and be gentle with it. Also, it is important to wet the electrodes before starting the watch or it doesn't hold a signal very well.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Polar Replacement Strap, March 22, 2009
By R. Robbins (Torrance, CA USA)
Replacement strap is a much better design than the original that came with the Polar M61 I received a couple of years ago. It is less likely to suffer the same defect of having the snap detach from the strap since that was the method of putting the strap on across your chest. The replacement strap is also better designed in the contact area and seems to provide immediate and accurate heart rate readings; I haven't had the need of pre-wetting the strap to get a heart rate reading. It was also convenient to have two different sizes available (XS - S) and (M-XL)

5.0 out of 5 stars.  As good as and much cheaper than Garmin Premium Strap, May 12, 2011
By 29er
Previous to buying this strap, I have been using the older Garmin Premium Strap. Often using the Garmin strap, no matter how wet it was, my Heart Rate Monitor would report excessively high heart rates--sometimes this would even happen after I had been sweating for an hour. In the Garmin forums, several people recommended this strap instead of the Garmin Strap ($70 retail) so I thought I'd give it a try. After using it for over a month, it has worked almost perfectly. Only one time has my heart rate been reported as excessively high and that was in a heavy cross wind early in a run. Additionally, this strap has not begun to curl, which the Garmin strap did after only a few days. I have used this strap with both my 310XT and Edge 500.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Worked out great, May 9, 2011
By Pinay Babae (Houston, TX)
I'm petite (5'0" and 110 lbs0. The strap that comes with the heart rate monitor was a bit too big for me. I'm so glad I was able to find they sell it in X-small. It fit perfectly!

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Didn't work save your money, October 29, 2008
By Joseph W. Harrison
I bought this thinking it would be an adequate replacement for the original strap that came with the Polar F11. Nope, not even close. I tried wetting the strap hoping to get a reading. NO LUCK. Just should have bought the $55 strap and not wasted $21 on this one.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  So Misleading!, November 24, 2010
By Molly
I was so disappointed when this arrived. I didn't even think this was what I ordered. It is not what is pictured! I was expecting the whole strap with the connectors and all, so I could just snap on the other piece. It is like a 4" piece of elastic. It's not a replacement strap. And, I don't know if there is a version of the wearlink strap that can be used with this piece of elastic, but I couldn't even use this elastic in place of the elastic portion of my wearlink strap.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great replacement for Garmin strap, September 9, 2011
By Tallcyclist
I am currently using a Garmin Edge 705 while cycling. The Garmin strap was giving an indication of heart rate spiking and it was suggested that I either purchase a new Garmin strap which comes complete with the HR transmitter for around $69.00 or use the Polar Wearlink Resplacement strap for around $17.00 and is interchangeable with the Garmin transmitter.

It is working beautifully. The Garmin HR transmitter snaps right on and the HR spikes are gone. I get perfect HR readings. It is comfortable, easy to take on and off.

I am planning to purchase another one to keep as a spare.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfortable replacement strap - replacement required due to my washing error., November 26, 2010
By Linda - Northern CA
Purchased strap after determined original strap had failed (replacing battery in transmitor did not resolve problem). I had NOT read the cleaning instructions carefully enough -- had been washing strap in washing machine (in mesh bag on delicate cycle with a low spin). After 1.5 years the strap failed. A more careful instruction read indicated NOT to put through a washing machine spin cycle. Have returned to hand wash routine.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  hardly notice it, May 16, 2012
By brandon
the one thing that kept it from getting a five star was the fact that for the first 5 to 10 min its inaccurate due to the fact that it needs a "wet" contact with your chest. i contacted polar about this and they said, "if you use conductive gel instead of tap water, youll get better results." this maybe true but im not going to find out because its something i can live with. very comfy btw

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Works great but it gives me a rash!, April 12, 2012
By Noelle
I bought this to see if an old Polar Heart Rate monitor would work. Yes, the old M32 works now. It is a back up for me as I received the newer FT60 as a gift.

My problem: I have a red rash in the exact imprint of the front of the strap. The elastic part of the strap is no problem. Also, the strap that I use for the FT60 does not leave any marks.

Not sure why the sensitivity to this strap & not the other one which seems to be identical to this.

Use caution if you have sensitive skin.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Big ugly box sticking out from my shirt, April 7, 2012
By Annapolis (Baltimore, MD United States)
I purchased Wearlink to replace a T31 transmitter with a dead battery. When I put the Wearlink on under my aerobics clothes, the strange snap-on box stuck out from under my fitted workout top. I wouldn't go to the gym with this awful thing on; the I'm-a-robot-with-a-third-rectangular-boob look just isn't in. I was happy to find a real T31 online and I returned the Wearlink. T31 is almost invisible under your clothes. Women under 150 lbs probably need the small or x-small strap; the medium can't be adjusted to keep the transmitter tight.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice strap, but small only 26.5" at longest in unstretched state, April 7, 2012
By James A. McGuire
The strap looks good, but beware that the small size is only 26 1/2 inches at the longest when not stretched and stretching it 10" or more to get to 37 or 38 inches is way too tight. In my opinion anyone over 30" chest should get the larger one as the strap stretch is tight enough with only a 3 inch stretch.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Weakest link in a great product - but reasonably priced!, March 14, 2012
By loves2shop (Sunny Colorado)
I have had three Polar heart rate monitors over the last five years (two F11's and my current FT60). I work out nearly every day, and am addicted to using a HRM. The free Polarpersonaltrainer website is great, and it links with my Virgin Healthmiles account, which gives me "credit" for working out through my company-sponsored health program.

Polar HRMs work great and are a great training motivator and fitness trackers - until they stop working. After I started getting erratic readings and "no signal" errors with my first F11 after nearly a year, I started using conductive gel, which helped for a while. When it stopped again, I replaced it with another F11. When it stopped working I went without a HRM for over a year. My experience with the FT60 was very similar. When it stopped working I bought a new sensor and belt. After switching around the components, I realized that only the belt was defective. I bought another belt to make sure I would always have one that works.

After researching Polar and realizing that they offer a two year warranty, I returned the defective belts to the Polar USA repair center. They have a website on which you can log and track your repair. Polar sent me two new replacement belts, with a turnaround of just over a week. Since I bought the HRM and strap from Amazon, it was easy to print the sales receipt. I was extremely pleased with PolarUSA service.

After nearly a year, my FT60 watch started to collect condensation inside the face of the watch, then the display was missing pixels and was hard to read (although still functional). I sent the watch and another strap back to Polar, and they replaced them, again in just over a week. They even transferred all my data and training files!! While the FT60 watch was away, I decided to use one of my original F11 watches. It worked fine with the new sensor and strap, although after three years of sitting in a drawer the battery indicator was on.

Now I have a brand new FT60 watch, a back-up F11 watch, two sensors and three functional straps. I am looking forward to many more years enjoying my Polar HRM!!

I disconnect the sensor and rinse the belt after each use, and wash the belt in the washing machine weekly, according to the recommendation on the Polar website. I don't know why these belts stop working so quickly for me (three replaced over the last 10 months), but I appreciate that Polar replaces them free, and it is not expensive to purchase an extra one from Amazon.

Polar is a great brand - the strap is comfortable, the HRM and website are great tracking tools, and the company stands behind its products.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Simple. Functional. It works for me., March 13, 2012
By W. Mokoid (New Jersey USA)
In short, buy this strap and enjoy the coming bicycle season. My new Polar Wearlink+ chest straps works as advertised. I ride a bicycle 3 or 4 times a week, between 20 and 40 miles, each ride. The ride pace, terrain, and wind all vary so knowing my heart rate is a plus. It adds to the experience, as a whole, for me. The old (original) strap worked well, for several years. Eventually, performance degraded - it gave erratic results and finally failed to output a signal. The new strap works, and proves the old transmitter and receiver combo is functional. The display is consistent, without periods of uneven, out of the ordinary heart rates.

I was put off purchasing a replacement strap. The negative reviews about the design and durability of the new and improved design persuaded me to keep the original strap and limp along with the uneven performance. So, I changed batteries often and applied electrical contact paste to the old chest strap contacts. In retrospect, that was a waste of my time and patience. The new strap proves there is nothing wrong with the old Polar transmitter and receiver combo, at this point. So, I am happy.

The new Wearlink+ strap has the Polar logo and only indicates "Wind Compatible". My original Polar Wearlink did not have Wind technology, but the fit and form factor of my old Wearlink transmitter is still perfectly compatible with the newer Polar design. The rear face of my transmitter reads "31 Coded". My 31 Coded transmitter snaps into, or onto, the new Wearlink+ (it is advertised as Wearlink+ on the Polar website). This is a great improvement over the original. The original required a gorilla grip to unsnap the tranmitter from the strap. I always had the impression that I would break the plastic chest strap connectors. There were actually three connectors on each side of the old strap - 2 were plastic and 1 was metal. That was one key reason why I only rinsed the strap and tranmitter and did not disconnect the whole transmitter from the strap and dry things out properly. I was afraid to break it. So what? So, now there is only one snap to release each side of the transmitter And it is easy to part the transmitter from the chest strap. All the parts can be rinsed after each ride, as per the Polar recommendations, without any hassle.

The strap attaches with a metal hook on one end. The hook engages with a soft, flexible, rubber coated fabric loop at the other end. The loop looks to be sturdy and well made. The stitching looks robust. First two times I tried to remove the hook to loop, after a ride, were very frustrating and I wanted to yank the thing apart. Based on my experience, before your first use, do the following.: At the kitchen table, sit down and, in your lap, practice putting the hook into the loop and then reverse the action. You should be able to do this 6 times in 60 seconds. That should be enough to get the hang of the hook to loop design. The hook has a slightly irregular shape. It will not fall off under normal body contortions. It will take a tiny bit of dexterity to unlatch the hook from the loop. Just take a minute to get familiar with how the hook hooks and unhooks. Save some wear and tear on the loop portion of the strap.

Finally, I purchased the strap via Amazon. The vendor shipping was zero dollars. The strap was the lowest advertised price I could find, anywhere. It was ordered on a Monday and delivered USPS on Thursday. Fantastic.

I have a Polar Pacer display unit, circa 1992. It has huge 0.5 inch tall digits. It is non-coded but still works well with the Wearlink 31 Coded transmitter. I also have a Polar CS200 bicycle computer, with heart rate monitor. All work well together.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works like it should, January 16, 2012
By LibbyLA (Baton Rouge, LA USA)
I have worn out several wearlink straps. This is the first one I've had with the hook closure rather than the snap closure and I prefer it. The snaps on my transmitter were always a problem to snap on and off the strap easily, even after I sent the transmitter back to Polar. I find that the hook closure is much easier for me to handle then the original snap closure.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Polar Wearlink Strap, December 11, 2011
By pooh123
I purchased this strap for my Polar FT4 heart rate monitor. Some days I work out twice a day so I wanted an extra strap to have on hand in case my original strap was dirty. The strap came on the date it was scheduled to be delivered. It was a genuine Polar strap and worked just as well as my original strap. I got the medium strap and it fit just like the original one. I'm very happy with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone needing a replacement strap.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Polar Wearlink Strap, November 22, 2011
By Adjusting Fine (Tustin, CA)
The Polar Wearlink is the best HR strap I have used. It conforms to your body and adjustment is ample. The transmitter is on the outside, which stops the plastic part from chafing on the skin. Conduction very good, as just a small amount of moisture will enable good feedback.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Comfortable and latex free, September 2, 2009
By Koko (Indianapolis, IN)
I use the Polar F7 HRM. After talking with Polar customer service I found out that the wearlink+ is latex free. I'm allergic to latex so this is important to me. This strap is comfortable and durable. The hard plastic straps slip down a lot losing contact and are not comfortable. I've always got good reads using this strap. I've been wearing my first strap for about 8-9 months every time I workout (4 days a week) and it still works great. I just wanted a second strap so I could have one in the wash and one to wear. Haven't had any problems with either strap.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  More comfortable but not as sturdy as the old version, August 1, 2009
By aeonflux10
Pros:
Flexible band design is more comfortable than the previous hard plastic design
Transmitter is detachable from strap, so DIY battery replacement (with previous hard plastic combined transmitter/band version, had to send in strap when battery went bad)

Cons: the fabric loop that secures the strap hook is flimsy and broke within 6 months. I've got to order a replacement.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  New design much better, June 29, 2009
By Lalit Nookala
My original Wearlink strap broke at the place where it goes into the transmitter. It was just plastic and I had used it for 2 years wearing 4 days weak for an average of 90 minutes a day workout. The orginal one stood the wear and tear pretty well. But still that design had a lot of parts where the plastic could break.

The new one is wrapped around the chest with a hook-like design where you slip the strap into the hook attached on one end of the strap. There are two button like leads in the front where you can place the transmitter.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Much better than the original, April 3, 2009
By bigredmachn (Moorpark, CA)
I bought my Polar F11 about 2 years ago and the original Wearlink Strap failed on me just recently. This strap has been designed much better, and is far easier to put on and take off. No more wrestling with those plastic snaps, and the battery cover isn't up against your skin with this one either, so you don't have to worry as much about sweat corroding the battery or the snaps anymore.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Updated design is a great improvement, January 18, 2009
By M. Masangkay
I purchased this replacement strap after I started to get inconsistent readings on my AXN 500 (circa 2006).

I determined that the problem was with my strap (I replaced the battery in both my watch and wearlink receiver and ensured that the contacts were clean from corrosion. I also noticed some cracks in my strap from twisting off the transmitter- old design had contacts on the end).

The changes from the old design are subtle but are solid improvements...
1)The strap now fastens on the side vs. fastening at the ends.
2)The transmitter fastens to two contacts on the front.

The strap is still recommended to be rinsed after every workout to ensure the contacts don't corrode and the contact points with your chest are clean. In doing so, my readings have been consistent ever since.

This is my second Polar HRM and it will not be my last(upgrading to the RS800cx multi). Their equipment is reliable, feature rich, with aesthetic appeal. I have interacted with the service department on many occasions (e.g. replacing batteries, requesting replacement straps) and they have been very responsive and reliable. Polar is truly unmatched in their space and their reputation goes a long way for me.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice Strap, November 1, 2008
By Papa Georgiou
The strap is durable and it works. The humidity here in the south is pretty bad in the summer, so i can say that sweat will not bother it or rain. However, i do have on gripe. I would rather change a diaper than than change this battery. Trying to screw it off was easy, trying to put it back on really got my heart rate up-. Also, the battery in the strap is different than the battery in my POLAR watch which is annoying. Anyway if you can look past the whole battery thing i would reccommend it.

This is my third polar HRM strap for this particular watch (The RS200). Not because they wear out really, but because I use mine all the time. The electrodes do eventually wear down because of salt, then washing, more salt, more washing. The reseller was efficient and delivery was fast.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Exactly as advertised, March 25, 2008
By Ed Perkins (Maitland, FL)
The strap came very quickly and was an exact replacement for the original. It solved a problem I had with the contacts on the original. The original lasted over a year and I used it 5 days a week or more. My advice is to not store the strap in your gym bag. I now tie it to the outside of the bag in hopes that this will help will prevent corrosion on the contacts. No matter what, this kind of strap is well worth the cost.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Broke after a few weeks of use, January 25, 2010
By Dr. Philippe Brou (Boston, MA, US)
I've been using Polar products for years and was always pleased with their quality except for this product. I used to connect the transmitter to an older style strap that met where the transmitter was located. The pins never broke but it was, I admit, hard to snap apart to remove. Somehow the first time I tried to snap the transmitter off this belt to clean the belt (after a few weeks of use), the push pin actually came off the belt and stayed attached transmitter on one side as if it had not been riveted correctly in place. This rendered the belt useless as it is impossible to reattach the pin.

On the positive side, the belt did provide good readings very quickly and was easy to attach and remove.

Also note they really do mean it when they say XS-S, check your size carefully as this one was very tight for me (and i usually wear S)

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Polar is out!, March 15, 2011
By Average Shopper (Decatur, GA USA)
I rated this strap a 2 and no a 1 because I'm just not sure if it was the actual problem I had with the watch. Simply put, Polar sucks. This is my second one and it is terrible. The heartrate is always off. I'm assuming the poor contruction of the straps that house the electrodes is to blame. Crosstalk is horrible. I can never, ever get a good read. I switched to New Balance and love it.
