Created by parents who were disappointed with the family bicycling options available, the iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle seat was made to offer families the best biking experience possible in safety and comfort. This front mounted seat offers both parent and child excellent range of vision, with the opportunity to interact as they bike together. Noted for its ease of use, the seat takes just a few minutes to install and remove, and it is equally easy and safe to load and unload the child from the seat. Providing plenty of clearance for the knees so that the adult can bike with ease, the seat is positioned so that it is easy to maintain the center of gravity. This adaptable seat fits any adult bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches of clearance on the handlebar stem. The iBert Safe-T seat was developed after its creators became frustrated with the available bike seat options for children. They found that bike trailers kept their kids uncomfortably far away from them, got too hot in the sun, and only provided a limited view out to the children. The rear-mounted seats presented similar problems. The kids had a limited view and it was difficult to interact with them. Additionally, the balance of the bike was off and it was not easy to load and unload the kids. Other front mounted seats were complicated to hook onto the bike and difficult to remove. These seats also did not allow knee clearance for biking, and as a result were not comfortable. The iBert Safe-T seat offers a variety of safety and comfort advantages compared to other child bike seat options. The iBert Safe-T seat allows you to maintain control of the bike when loading and unloading your child. To load and unload the child, you simply straddle the bike and lift the child into or out of the seat. When using the iBert seat you can always see what your child is doing and you can make sure that your child is safe and comfortable at all times. The center of gravity in the iBert seat is closer to the center of the bike making it easier to control the bike as you ride. The seat sits higher on the bike and is smooth on the bottom so that even tall riders rarely brush the bottom of the seat with their knees and if they do they just glide along the smooth edges on the bottom. The iBert Safe-T seat is easy to install. The patented stinger assembly attaches to any bike with a minimum of 3/4 inches on the handle bar stem. The stinger system attaches to the bike in just two minutes and the seat can then be attached and detached from the stinger in 15 seconds. If you buy additional stinger assemblies the seat can be attached to multiple bikes. The iBert Safe-T seat is made in the U.S.A. with safety and quality as the main objectives. While the iBert Safe-T seat is designed to meet all 1625-00 standards, at this time ASTM 1625-00 is written for rear child carriers not front mounted seats. Specifications: - Allows interaction with your child

Good, but not perfect like everyone says..., September 13, 2010

So we just took the iBert for a couple of spins around the neighborhood, and here's my thoughts....
The concept, build/construction, and installment is great. I knew instantly we made the right choice in getting a front mounted seat vs rear seat. My son is 16 months old, and literally for 2 minutes straight on our first outting, he was going ""WOOOAAHHHHH!!! WOOOAAAHHHHHH!! WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!! WOOAAAA(etc. etc.)"".
Installation is a breeze. Construction looks and feels very durable. It's a very simple design, and simple is good. Less to go wrong and break. It feels very stable, and balances the bike fairly well, as I imagine rear seats tend to load the rear too much.
The bad... This seat will vary in comfort for your child 100% dependent on the geometry of your bike. The angle at which the seat rests is completely dictated by the angle of your bikes head tube (this is the little tube up front that the fork sticks out of at the bottom, and your handlebars at the top). My wife and I ride cruiser/mountain bike hybrids, so the tube slopes more then a commuter or hybrid bike. As a result, this seat leans back a bit, forcing our son to hold his back, neck, and head up in a vertical position. Luckily, my seating position forces me to lean forward a bit, so his head ends up resting slightly on my chest, which alleviates his effort a bit. Ultimately, the angle isn't completely unreasonable, and my wife and I decided he should be fine, although we don't know how he'll hold up in 2+ hr rides.
It would have been nice if the seat allowed angle adjustment, so the seat angle is not dictated by the head tube angle. I imagine people with more casual beach cruisers have kids that are leaning considerably farther back then ours.
Ultimately, if you have a road hybrid commuter bike, you should see no problems. Those mounting on cruisers or other casual type of bikes should determine how much they're willing to force their kid to hold their neck up during a ride.

Been using for 2 years now!, September 16, 2010

I purchased a $500 Burley Trailer before I purchased the iBert and I've used the iBert 95% of the time on my bike. My son, now just about 4 loves the iBert as it allows him to view the world as we ride. We take it to the beach, bike trails, neighborhood, etc. and everyone comments how cute the seat is. I cannot find one negative about this seat. I am going to sell my burley as I've had it for the same amount of time and it still looks brand new...I only use the iBert.

Super!, September 7, 2010

This is a fantastic bike seat - what a great idea. I use it a lot with my 2.5 year old. It makes me feel really stable and safe while cycling. He loves it because he is now in front and feels the breeze. I can chat with him because he is closer to me. He is very comfortable with his legs stretched out and back supported. I can take it on and off really easily. At the 38 lb weight limit, it should last a long time. Couple of things: makes sure this fits your bike - I have a Trek hybrid bike and it fit. It may not fit some of the sportier road bikes. Also, sometimes I make my son wear sunglasses especially in the evening when there are these tiny insects in the air because he is now in front of me. Everyone who sees us understands how stable this is.

Very good bike seat!, September 28, 2010

I love this bike seat! It enables me to bike with two children on my bike: one in a bike seat on the back, luggage rack, and one in the front. It is very sturdy and my 20 month old daughter, who is already 33.5 inches tall, fist nicely in it with still some room to spare.
I'm quite tall myself and have a tall bike for myself, and my legs don't touch the seat when biking. All in all a good buy.

This seat was a gift and I couldn't wait to use it. It was relatively easy to install and the seat balances the weight nicely. My only complaint was that I had pedal with my knees pointed outward at bit.

IBert - Love it!, October 21, 2010

I was looking for a different method to take my little one for a bike ride and don't like the pull behind systems.
I love this front mounted seat. It's a little difficult to take off in a stand still position -- but she loves it, and it's nice to have her next to me while riding!

iBert Safe-T Front Mounted Child Bicycle Seat, October 12, 2010

I bought the iBert Seat & a toddler helmet for my husband's birthday so he could take our grandson riding. My husband easily installed the seat and took our 21 month old grandson for his first ride. Both my husband & our grandson love riding together! They go riding almost everyday and stop at parks and friends' homes. This is an excellent seat (as opposed to one mounted behind the bike operator) and I would highly recommend it to anyone considering buying a child bicycle seat. How wonderful that the child can see everything not just the operator's back. It has created a very special ""together time"" for our grandson and his loving grandfather! We have posted a picture on the website.

My toddler son LOVES the iBert!, October 12, 2010
By Michael Garrett

This is a great product. My toddler son has been fascinated with bikes for months. We bought a nice bike trailer, but after 2 rides, he refused to get in. He couldn't see much, couldn't interact with me, and couldn't hear me. After reading reviews we got the iBert. Installation was a snap, and it easily fits both his Mommy's bike & mine. My son LOVES this seat. He now wakes every day excitedly saying ""Buhk buh, Buhk buh!!"" which means ""bike ride, bike ride!!"" On our rides he is very engaged, pointing out things along the way and talking to me as I talk to him. We've gone on dozens of rides--he insists on it daily--and had no problems whatsoever. My only caution would be: always wear helmets, and take great care to avoid accidents, as the location of the seat would not make for good protection of the head and neck from injury.

Beware: Can Make Biking Difficult/Unsafe, October 7, 2010
By Jimmy B

I was pleasantly surprised with the simplicity of this seat and its easy mounting bracket. Took seconds to hook up. Unfortunately, it was very hard to ride the bike after the seat was in place. I had to shimmy into place on the bike seat and my knees would hit the iBert as I pedaled. Made it very treacherous to stop and extricate yourself from under the iBert. Also didn't work for my wife. We have pretty standard path/pavement bikes--mine's a Raleigh C30 and hers a Giant--so I'm not sure how this seat works for others. It has been returned and we are happy with our cheapy rear-mounted child seat.
