The new TrakStand Ultra features our patented CENTRIFORCE resistance unit with a centrifugal clutch for amazingly smooth, silent and progressive resistance that feels just like a hard road ride. And unlike magnetic and fluid trainers which lose speed quickly, CENTRIFORCE has a smooth rollout when coasting, so your pedal stroke feels more natural in the dead spots or when you ease up on the pedals. The Ultra also features adjustable height, which allows the rear wheel to be as close as 1/2" to the ground. No more phone book under the front wheel.

By providing an ultra-realistic feel, the Blackburn Trakstand Ultra Bicycle Trainer will help you get (or stay) in peak cycling shape when it is unfeasible to actually be out on your bicycle. The Trakstand Ultra features Blackburn's patented Centriforce resistance unit with a centrifugal clutch for an amazingly smooth, silent and progressive resistance that feels just like a hard road ride. Unlike magnetic and fluid trainers that lose speed quickly, the Centriforce system has a smooth rollout when coasting so your pedal stroke feels more natural in the dead spots, or when you ease up on the pedals. The Ultra also features an adjustable height that allows the rear wheel to be as close as 0.5-inches to the ground so you don't have to prop up the front wheel. Constructed of a durable folding aluminum frame, Blackburn's Trakstand Ultra includes three different resistance curves for a custom feel, replaceable friction-resistance elements, and a five-year limited warranty. About Blackburn In 1975, Jim Blackburn set out to design stronger, lighter, more innovative and more reliable cycling products. The first were bags and racks designed for touring. From there, Blackburn grew. Over the next 30 years, Blackburn's spark of innovation would lead to many revolutionary products, like the first high quality aircraft aluminum rack, the first dual stroke minipump, the first oversized mountain minipump and the first dual stage/dual stroke floorpump just to name a few. For 2005, Blackburn's creative spark is burning brighter than ever. And as we head into our 30th year, Blackburn is re-dedicated to designing smart, reliable, no nonsense accessories that are essential to your riding experience.

Blackburn Trak Stand Ultra, April 5, 2009
By Mitchell Goldflies (Chicago, IL USA)

The Blackburn Trak Stand Ultra Indoor Bicycle Trainer uses a design originally sold by 1up USA as the CPR A-2000 Bicycle Trainer. I had problems with the Blackburn unit out of the box. Lubing the internals of the Resistance Unit (RU) helped only a little. I then reattached my Blackburn RU to the base support arms with the standard bolts and the plastic shroud removed. All of the RU problems disappeared. The unit folds easily and is easier to transport that my fluid trainer. The resistance with the RU varies according to speed and and pedal pressure. Resistance builds more than a fluid trainer at high speed.

Very Happy with my TrakStand Ultra, November 9, 2009
By Ron I (Hawaii)

I just purchase this product today locally. I wished I had checked forCycling more thoroughly because it is 25% less than what I paid locally.
I read the instructions (3 minutes), unboxed the trainer (2 minutes), had to change to the provided skewer to get my bike to fit (5 minutes), made adjustments (2 minutes), got dressed (2 minutes) and was riding. This was much easier to set up than I had imagined.
I am using this for rehab after shattering my tibia 3 months ago. My first ride was one hour spinning a 42 X 17. I really like the feel of this trainer. It feels much better than an excercise bike at the gym 'cause you are riding your personal bike. The resistance feels very good VS. my Minoura rollers with mag resistance. The one odd thing is the wheel slips on the polished aluminum drum of the resistance unit (RU) if your don't pedal smoothly.
Overall, I'm very happy with the unit. I was debating the $80 Bell Motivator. I'm glad I spent more for this because it is very well constructed, the skewer attachment is solid and it unit is silent. Also, you don't need a riser with this unit because the design can keep the real wheel 1/4 inch off the ground.

Dont not buy a Blackburn Trainer, January 14, 2010
By Jerry Conaway

I did not buy this thing from Amazon.com, but I did purchase one a little over a year ago from a local bike store. This trainer is awesome for riding at first - you will never find another trainer with such a realistic road feel. However, within two months the happy turned to horror as the friction-resistance pad began to wear. I would be riding along at a great pace and suddenly the unit would become so hard to ride I would have to stand on the pedals, then just as suddenly as it came, resistance returned to normal. This continued on and off for about a month, then one day during the middle of a workout the unit locked down completely. I disassembled the resistance unit and found that the resistance pad, which is made up of some sort of rubber material and resembles the brake pads on a car, had worn almost clean to metal. The time from opening the box and the first ride to total failure was a little under four months.
Overall, I would have to say that the quality with Blackburn trainers leaves a lot to be desired. The unit that I got as a warranty replacement, the Blackburn Trackstand Fluid, is also knocking on deaths door, again after about four months of total riding usage.

This is s wonderful product for those who want to train or exercise using their own bike. I wanted something easy to use and well made. I found it.
Now I can spin on my own bike then ride it on the rode when I want. No bulky indoor exercycles. Works great.

Disappointed that the feel is not authentic. At least I have not been able to get it so that it feels like I am riding on the road.

Blackburn Ultra Trackstand Bicylcle Trainer-quiet smooth and realistic resistance, December 3, 2011
By Dory949 (Chicago, IL)
|
|
I loved this trainer. I bought it from a bike store for over $300. It is very quiet which is important to me because I live in a condo and train at 5 AM. It is also very smooth. It uses centrifugal force not fluid resistance nor magnetic. It is quiet, smooth and has a realistic resistance feel. It lasted years and I never had a problem with it.

Trusted brand great deal, January 8, 2010

It's good, works great, I wrote more but this dialog box keeps erasing my review when I try to submit. Not noisey, and it's stable enough.
