| Product Description: | | | | | This Timex Watch (but not any battery, crystal, band, or strap) is warranted to the owner for a period of ONE YEAR from the date of purchase against defects in manufacture by Timex Corporation. Timex will not repair defects relating to servicing not performed by Timex Corporation. This limited warranty applies to US Customers. | | | | Keep yourself sharp when training for that 10K race (or just trying to lose a couple pounds) and keep yourself on time for important appointments with the Timex T5C291 Data Link USB Ironman digital watch. It combines the convenience of a personal organizer with the performance of a full-function, digital timepiece, and it easily connects to your PC for synchronization of schedules as well as timing data. It features a matte resin body with metallic top ring, durable stainless-steel strap, crown for easy setting, 2-year battery life, and water resistance to 100 meters (330 feet). Sport training features include a 200-lap chronograph with multiple session memory, multiple countdown timers with labels, multi-event interval timers, and dual setting options. The included software works with Microsoft Outlook for Windows PCs (Windows 98SE, Me, 2000, and XP), and it enables you to set hundreds of alarms, timers, and interval timers as well as choose custom sounds. The Indiglo night-light uniformly lights the surface of the watch dial using patented blue electroluminescent lighting technology. It uses less battery power than most other watch illumination systems, enabling your watch battery to last longer. The Night Mode feature allows you to illuminate the Indiglo night-light for 3 seconds with any button press, regardless of the mode or function. | A computer on your wrist. | |
| | It is great to have all your important phone numbers in your your watch. Not only the phone numbers, it contains all your important birthdays,as well as all my important appointments and dates for the next 30 days. When you go to the gym you are able to time your run or walk, it has a count down timer, and if you feel a little woozy you are able to take your own pulse. | | These computer programmable Timex watches are getting harder and harder to get. Timex may have discontinued them. They are a marvelous way to keep track of all your Outlook contact information, appointments and wakeup alarms, just to name a few of the utilities dcontained within these wrist watches. I couldn't do without mine and always keep a spare on hand just in case the battery runs down on the active unit. I just hope they remain available.
| | | Great design, easy-to-read, nice band. I chose this over the newer one because I prefer metal and not plastic for the watch and band. While parts of the watch are plastic, the back is stainless steel.
Some customers complained the watch was too big. I did not think so. It is slightly bigger than a watch without the additional data functions, but not significantly larger.
Some customers complained about short battery life. On my first of these, the crown, which you push for the indiglo light, stuck. The light would stay on for long periods of time and the watch would also become nonresponsive. This would explain short battery life.
I suggest testing this when you first get the watch (it needs to be dark). If the Indiglo light does not go out when you release the crown, you might need to return the watch. Amazon courteously replaced my watch at no cost to me and the new one works fine.
The crown which you turn to scroll through information, sometimes does not respond perfectly. I expect an action with every "click" but sometimes I have to turn multiple clicks to, for example, scroll to a previous phone number.
I love that on the three time zones I can format them differently; local time in 12-hour, GMT in 24 hour with no daylight time, etc. You have to set this in the software. I don't like that I can't easily change the "where I am" time zone or just the hour of the local time FROM THE WATCH when travelling. I have to select one of the other two time zones that I have preselected with the software, or reset the local time completely (hour and minute). I think I will name the main time zone LCL instead of DEN, so the label stays correct when I travel across time zones and reset the local time.
I wish the import from Outlook would display either name or company and not say BLANK when a name is not provided (you can edit this in the Timex software before downloading to your watch, but only one entry at a time). You also cannot import contacts that are in an Outlook Connector (Internet Mail) account. You have to copy these contacts to your local contacts folder before the Timex software sees them.
The watch stores credit card numbers in the Notes function and you can password protect them with a two-digit password. I appreciate that; I lost a Casio PC-Unite once when it fell off my wrist at a park. Fearful someone would find the data, I called all my credit card companies. However, all this information scrolls across the bottom line of the display, rather than using all three lines of the display, so long entries can be hard to read.
| | | i bought this for my boyfirend for christmas. He loves how sporty and nerdy this watch is. He is very happy with it. It is not as bulky as it might seem. Its large like many mens watches. A good buy.
| | Best watch I've ever owned | |
| | It's sign of a good product that there are many flaws and shortcomings, yet I continue to use it and love it. As far as I've been able to tell, there's no other watch with features that come even close. That being said, if you're only somewhat interested in the ability to sync your contacts, calendar, schedule, etc, then I would advise against it. This watch is for geeks, and people that have complex schedules and need many reminders for things throughout their day.
