5.0 out of 5 stars.  affordable option for apartment-dwellers, November 25, 2005
By K. Yasuhara (Seattle, WA)
I use this rack in my apartment to keep my bikes away from rain and thieves. I like that this rack requires no wall-drilling and keeps bikes flat against the wall (rather than sticking out like those racks that hang bikes by their front wheels.) I'm very impressed with its stability, considering the rack itself is pretty light. There's only one contact point with the wall, which has a big, rubber end (like the two feet) so it won't scratch or mark. The feet stick to my carpeted floor quite securely, and my guess is that they'd work well on noncarpeted surfaces, too. The hooks that hold up your bike have a generous, rubbery coating, so they won't scratch up your frame. I keep two bikes on the rack, with my regular commuter on the lower one, and the rack is quite stable, even when only the upper bike is on it. For those of you who care, the rack is manufactured in China, so I'm sure Delta's making a fortune, but I had lots of trouble finding a U.S.-made alternative.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  An Ok rack for those on the budget, October 20, 2006
By The Pessimist (New York, USA)
Pros:
* It's hard to find a (two) bike storage solution that cheaper than this ($50)
* Decent quality and finish (but read on)
* Works on carpeted surfaces (check out the images I posted)
* Can be installed over a heater (with room to spare)
* Arms have padded hooks that hold my Kestrel (with a fairly unusual top bar x-section) OK. I think it'll work with any bike.

Cons: (most have been pointed out in earlier reviews)
* The 2-3 threads for the bolts to hold on to is definitely not enough for this weight bearing construction
* Almost impossible to take the bike off without changing position of the arms
* Arms are too long, thus the bike is too far from the wall taking up substantially more space than it would have taken if it just stood next to the wall without any rack. The other consequence is that the front wheel has too much room to turn, taking even more space. The latter might be more of a problem for front-heavy triathlon bikes, but I'd still watch out for that.
* The top of the rack needs to be chained down to the wall (hardware is provided), but that limits rack's portability (which is not what you'd immediately think after reading Amazon's product description)
* The whole construction is a little bit springy-flimsy ... but I don't think I would have been any happier had I bought something else. I decided on this rack after 2-3 months of looking around ... I guess this is what you get for 50 bucks.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  There are two versions -- this one is good, January 26, 2006
By N. Choi
I needed two bike stands as my roommates and I have quite a few bikes together. After a while of online search, this one seems to fit the bill. I live in an apartment, and drilling on walls is not an option. So I order one from amazon right away, to see if it is really as good as the reviewers said.

A day later, after a stroll in a local major department store, I found apprantly the same one for significantly less! So I thought this is the first time I got something for a higher price than in amazon. I bought it from the store right away. I unpacked it, and found the quality not to be as good as reviewed. The paint seemed like it will peel, and in some places it looks badly welded. In fact in the process of assembly, the threads on some of the screws got so badly worn I had to exchange for another one at the store. The exchanged one I got still has a worn screw in the vertical tube, and other assorted quality problems. The stand is holding up only because of gravity. So I thought I had a sub-par product, with another one coming.

However, when I got one from amazon, I immediately noticed the difference. The packaging is different. The content is also different in small but significant ways. The design and the assembly instructions are the same, but the one from amazon has higher quality paint on. The screws and the hex key are much better. Instead of one hex key for all the screws as in the inferior version, there are two hex keys, each of a different size. The thicker hex key is used to tighten the arms, because that requires more force and thus more susceptable to thread wearing. I set it up without the problems I encountered in assembling the one I got from the major store. It's much sturdier. I can tighten the arms better without worrying about messing up the screws. It looks like the one amazon is selling is one that is improved over the initial design. So the lesson here is, get it from amazon, and don't be cheap. I noticed that amazon has another listing that has the same title as this one. I guess you don't want to touch that one, if that's indeed for the inferior version. As for this product, I highly recommend it for reasons stated in other reviewers, but order it here so you know you're getting the better ones. If not for the bad experience of getting an inferior version from somewhere else, I'd have given it 5 stars.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  poor materials in manufacture, September 20, 2006
By Ronald Good (Berkeley, CA USA)
The bike rack has defects, and i had to do the following things to make it work:

the bolt heads are too soft and after only a few necessary adjustments loosening and tigtening the bolts, the allen wrench rounded out the fitting in three of the bolt heads, and i had to take my Dremel rotary tool and carve a slot in each for a wide standard screwdriver to fit.

the clamps that hold the arms in place are not strong enough to withstand the torque of lifting off and on a 28-pound bike. After two adjustments to the positioning of the arms, everytime i tried to put the bike up, the arms would move side-to-side with the movement of placing the bike and with each on or off the arms would slide just a bit lower, requirig frequent adjustment, and with each adjustment it just got looser. I had to determine an exact location for the arms and drill new holes all the way through the clamps and the upright, and then bolt the clamps securely to the upright form. That of course means that whenever i get a new bike i will have to find the perfect spot again and drill new holes to secure the bike in the best manner.

I can only recommend this rack to those who are handy with tools and have a power drill and a power rotary tool. The concept is good and with several hours work you can make it a useful bike rack.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not worth it, March 25, 2006
By K. Born
The tubes which extend off the body of the rack have less than three or four threads to secure the 6mm bolts. The bolts put too much stress on the threads and stripped them out before I even had a single bike on the rack. I do not recommend this product at all.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Not a stable stand, September 7, 2010
By Philip Ames (BROOKLYN, NY USA)
This is an awful product. The allen bolts that tighten the poles stripped on the first tightening, the poles were not flush at the joints giving the whole stand a lopsided look. Following the instructions, I positioned the stand against the wall and put my first bike (the heavier one, 23lbs) on the hooks. Ok, no problem here. Added the second bike - the 16lb machine - to the upper hooks, and the whole stand started to fall away from the wall. Took both bikes down, rechecked the instructions, made a couple of minor positioning adjustments and rehung the bikes. Same result. The only way I could prevent this stand from toppling over was to use the top hooks for just a 4lb frame.

A most unsatisfactory product and an excellent advertisement for buying a more expensive, stable storage system.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Value!, January 5, 2009
By SHOES! OMG!!! (Austin, TX.)
This is a great bike rack at a good price. I live in a (small) apartment and used to just lean my bike against the wall (and was always knocking it over too). When my boyfriend moved in we realized we'de have no room for both of our bikes so we went on the hunt for a 2-bike rack. We found loads of options but this one was the best for our needs. I like that there are no screws to mess up my landlords walls and minimal assembly. It took me a few tries to get it put together just right but once I leaned it against the wall I was sold. It is VERY stable, once I hung my bike... it wouldn't budge. I can grab it and shake it fiercly without it falling over, which is great because we are always bumping into things here. I like that the bikes lay flat against the wall, they only stick out about the width of the handlebars... which is going to happen any way you hang it. I love this rack and would recommend it to anyone searching for some way to store their bikes (among other things). You just can't beat the ease and simplicity of this rack... and it doesn't look half-bad either.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Nice design, but poor manufacturing and materials, June 6, 2008
By Plain Jane
I searched high and low for a bicycle rack that would keep my two bikes (commuter and road) tidily and securely tucked against a wall in my apartment. Given my space options and lath and plaster walls (impossible to find a stud in) this gravity model appealed. It took me two tries to get this product - the first one came with metal tubes that were cut to the wrong lengths so that it wasn't even possible to assemble it (one "leg" was about a foot shorter than the other). So I exchanged it for another of the same model. Alas, it does not have screws for the arms that cradle the top tube (unlike the one pictured on Amazon) - it relies on o-rings to hold the spiral ends of the arms in place. I was worried whether the replacement stand will actually hold bikes securely.

Sure enough, three months later the o-rings have snapped and the rubber coating on the hooks that hold the bikes have started to peel. My commuter bike gets taken on and off the rack 5 days a week, and the road bike 1-3 times a week. I did not expect this sort of use to be beyond what the rack can handle, and I'm disappointed that this otherwise nice design includes such shabby materials.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Quality control has dropped, September 25, 2010
By DAR
We bought one of these a couple of years ago, and liked it so much that we decided to buy another. The design has now changed substantially from that in the pictures (I've attached a photo), for example it is no longer round at the top. The tubes are beefier and more solid, but on ours the bend at the top is not symmetric, I have had to leave a gap of around 1/2" in a join on one side to keep the rack from tilting significantly to one side. The rack is also a couple of inches taller than the old one, and does not currently fit where we want to put it (next to the old one), and so I will be cutting it down before final installation. If I didn't own a miter saw I'd be sending this back.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent bike stand, April 15, 2008
By Terri (Seattle,WA USA)
The stand works as advertised. It doesn't damage the wall, it is very sturdy and secure, and best of all it is portable if I move out or even just rearrange the furniture. The product photo shows the top set of hooks fairly high up, and the stand is tall, so unless you are tall yourself or strong enough to lift and hold your bike over your head, that might be a problem, but you don't have to set it up that way. I've set the top pair of hooks about 1/3 down from the top of the rack, to rest against the bolts that connect the top section to the center, and the 2nd set about 2/3 down, at the cross piece. So technically mine can only hold 1 adult bike at the top and maybe a child bike on the bottom. For me is that is OK since I'm small and I only have one bike. I put my bike on the top hooks without having to lift it over my head, and keep my helmet and bag on the bottom hooks. The only problem I see is if I need to store 2 bikes - the photo shows the top hooks being kept from sliding downward by a couple of bolts near the top. Mine isn't made like that - the bolts are further down, at the 1/3 from top mark, which is where the U shaped top piece connects to the rest of the stand. The plastic coating around the backs of the hooks seems to be all that will keep them from sliding down, and it seems to hold them pretty tightly in place, but gravity always wins and I don't know if I'd want to trust the coating to hold for a long time. Fortunately, that's not an issue for me, but other buyers should consider it. I've had mine for a month now, and I'm happy with it.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  3.5 stars - GOOD customer service - OKAY product, September 14, 2006
By kq1111 (Lexington, KY)
I bought my first rack from pricepoint. Paint and quality (welds, material, etc) seems okay - nothing special. However, the included bolts SUCK. The extending arms clamp around the main tubes, but arent rubber-backed, so they require lots of clamping force for adequate friction to keep the arms secure on the tube. The bolts strip EASILY; i stripped 3 of them. Also, the eyelets through which you thread the bolt aren't aligned properly, so I had difficulties getting the bolt to thread on in the first place.

Emailed Delta, they acknowledged QC problems and said that they had switched manufacturing plants, and they would send me a NEW rack in exchange for opinions. NICE!

New rack was slightly better quality in paint and welding. It also was drilled at the top so an included chain and loop can be attached to secure the rack to the wall (to prevent tip-over). The bolts here were pre-threaded onto the clamp, so they only needed tightening. However, these tended to strip easily, too. I stopped torquing them as soon as I sensed it. The arms clamp on good enough to hold my bikes, but can be swiveled easily.

The 1st rack included a pair of back-up bolts that were much stronger. If they had used these as standard bolts for the rack, there would be no problems. Also, if the clamps were backed with silicone, or rubber, they would hold on better without requiring much tightening.

Overall, they work, and they look alright. Could be improved, however

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works for big bikes, December 5, 2005
By Mark Cathcart
When I started to look around for a bike rack, I was concerned from various reviews that they would not be tall enough to take my triathlon and road bikes. Well I ordered the Delta Michelangelo gravity stand and it takes my 56cm Triathlon bike with a very high saddle and tri bars; also my 58cm road bike.

The frame is finished well, the bikes sit on the arms easily and the rubber coating on the arms protects the frame from scratching.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Average after working through the kinks, August 26, 2009
By Amy (Rockville, MD)
This was an average bike rack but it was suprisingly stable and didn't take up too much space in our small condo.
Two main problems that we had with the stand were: 1. The first one that we received was missing some of the parts for putting it together. We exchanged it for a new one which was very easy to put together. 2. After a few weeks of use, the rubber on the bike holders started peeling off of two of the holders, leaving minor scratches on the bikes.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Great stand for the price, but..., September 9, 2007
By beakasdf
At first, it felt like it would fall over since it's not attached to the wall, but it hasn't yet. It comes with a short chain that you can fix to the wall so in the case that someone bumps into it, it won't fall over. I only have one bike on it, but putting another shouldn't be a problem (though it might be a squeeze). Watch out for the build quality. From other reviews it seems to be all over the place. One of the holes for the screws had lost it's threading and I had to get a replacement screw that was slightly larger to make it tight.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Works despite poor construction tolerances, June 19, 2009
By Pretzels! (Los Angeles, CA)
After assembling, then reassembling the unit, it still comes out crooked, and will not lean naturally against a wall. Also, the rubber rings used to keep the "arms" from sliding down broke after a day or two.

You can get the rack to work even with the above problems, but IMO those problems should not exist.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Missing screws, but works well, May 8, 2010
By Andrew Arenson (Indianapolis, IN USA)
My stand showed up with only one of the half dozen hex-screws it needed. I was able to take that screw to a local h/w store and get a half dozen phillips head screws of the same width and depth. First, though, I'd tried to call the company using the provided phone number and kept getting redirected to voicemail boxes which were full, such that I couldn't leave a message.

The stand was very easy to assemble. Took just a few minutes and a screwdriver.

We don't ride our bikes much, so I don't have a lot of experience taking them on or off, but they are quite stable once up.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good rack, cheap hooks, April 11, 2010
By Steve B
Great rack, does exactly what it's supposed too. Sits tight to wall, takes up minimal space, no holes in wall needed. Only downside is the rubber coating on the hooks is cheap and from the weight of the bike it's tearing off. Aside from that, a great buy though.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Easy to construct, sturdier than it seems, December 16, 2009
By rocket nerd (Washington, DC)
I was looking for a good solution to fit two bikes into our finished basement storage room without putting hooks into the studs. The reviews on this made it seem that it fit the bill, so I ordered away.

The stand was pretty easy to construct - probably about a half a hour worth of effort with pretty simple directions. I put the completed stand on the floor in the carpeted room in the basement. Now, either our floor is slightly slanted (very possible) or the stand is slightly slanted (equally possible)...because when its against the wall, it seems as if it's leaning a bit to one side. However, it doesn't seem to affect its ability to hold bikes, and since it's not on proud display in our living room, I don't really mind.

I have two bikes on it - a mens large framed Specialized Allez on top and a womens hybrid Felt on the bottom. Both are held without issue - completely sturdy.

Now, when it comes to taking the bikes off the rack, I share others concerns with the arms. They just don't *seem* that stable, as they can slide and move (which is a benefit for flexibility)...but the reality is that they ARE stable. I have no reason at all to think that the stand may fall/tip/collapse.

So, the bottom line is that this is a great low-cost solution to get two bikes into the same vertical place, while still looking fairly attractive. Check to see if your floor is level is the display aspect matters to you...

3.0 out of 5 stars.  simple, cheap for a reason, September 13, 2009
By sandytoes (San Luis Obispo, CA USA)
This stand is pretty chill except for I bought mine to match another one and it didn't have silver hooks like in the photo, it had bright red plastic ones. So if you care about little details like that it kind of sucks. It holds one bike nice, but my other bike which is a heavier old Peugot is too heavy and it always pushes the hook down so the bike is resting on the floor and the rack is kind of pointless. These racks are good if you have light weight bikes.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great stand if you know how to use it., July 8, 2009
By Bike Mago (LA, CA)
This stand is awesome if you do your research on where you want it located. I have a loft style apartment and I zip tied it to the banister. This being said, two zip ties made this thing super stable and kinda decorative holding the bikes up for all to see. I have an old carbon weird frame mt bike and I was able to adjust the arms to fit. So the adjustments are limitless. The bad experience is that even though I did buy from Amazon, the screws were all loose in the box. Like someone just threw them in at the last minute. On the upside none were missing. So be careful when you are opening your box.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Pretty good, April 7, 2009
By Drew (Chicago)
I have had this rack for about a month and a half now and so far it has held up well. The only problem i have had with it was one of the o-rings tore within about two weeks. Not a big deal because the rubber on the hooks keeps them in place, and it hasn't affected the stability of the bike at all. I have a small studio so I really like the low profile nature of the rack and it helps keep my bike up and out of the way when I am not using it. All in all for $60 it's hard to beat.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Robotic arm holder, likes bikes, July 8, 2010
By Frank
A robot is an automatically guided machine which is able to do tasks on its own.

This robot is just a loop of metal tubing that leans up against any wall, and then the programmer, you, puts in the arms at any height on the tubing to hold your bike. Load on the bike, and the robot has it secured for you.

Universally compatible, holds my road bike, mountain bike, helmet, shoes, and many other items (can only safely hold 2 bikes at once).

I trust my robot so much that I mounted it between by bed and wall and sleep below my bike.

For some, it's not exactly a robot, more of a reliable stand, but I consider it a robot.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Solid performance, July 29, 2008
By M. Arnold (the Boro TN)
After months of searching, debating, and reading reviews, I decided to go with two-bike gravity stand and as you can see I am very pleased. It was easy to assemble, and adjust the arms for out bikes in the mater of minutes. I now have the two bikes that were taking up floor space and causing constant frustration when they would get bumped and knocked over up and out of the way. They are in my living room right inside my front door where any traffic in or out of my house (and I have 4 kids that do so frequently) and there is plenty of room to pass by. In the rare event that it has been bumped, or a child has played with the bikes, there has been no movement to the stand or any hint of tipping. Bike removal is easy, and the stand stays solid even when removing just either the top or bottom bike. I'm right now contemplating getting a couple more for my kids bikes as they grow into something that needs more care then sitting under the carport.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Delta Michaelangelo bike stand, March 2, 2008
By Inspector Callahan (Cleveland, OH)
This stand has a small footprint and does not require attachment to a wall as noted in the instructions. I have two roadbikes with sloping top tubes and both fit easily with the adjustable arms. It does take a little manipulation of the arms to keep them from sliding around a bit, especially on a carbon framed bike. Otherwise, a nice-looking stand which is stable, easily portable and easily placed along a flat wall.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great bike stand, February 24, 2008
By (The One) (Arlington, VA USA)
It looks good and holds two bikes - all it was supposed to do. Good thing is that the arms are easily adjustable so you can hang bikes of different sizes and different geometry, so they look more or less parallel to the floor. And since it leans against the wall - it takes up minimal amount of space and is fairly stable at the same time. Decent stand. I'd recommend it.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  great bike rack for the money, January 3, 2007
By soloz2 (NY,United States)
This is a great bike rack that I bought for our apartment after searching around for a good value in an unobtrusive bike rack. It takes up slightly more room to store two bikes then it would to store only one.

My only complaint is that the provided bolts for the arms are not high quality. You have to tighten the arms down very hard so that they do not slip once the weight of the bike is on them, and the cheap bolts are likely to strip. The good news is that you can get replacement bolts at a place like Thunes or Home Depot

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Perfect for renters and small spaces, August 23, 2006
By A. Nagamine
I'm very happy with the Michelangelo rack, it's the best solution I've found for storing couple of bikes - without tearing into the wall or the ceiling. Also one of the most minimal (aesthetically) bike stand I've found yet. I have a mid-weight Trek bike on the bottom rack, and a single-speed Bianchi on top. Easy assembly, and the 'hooks' are adjustable to host any bike. I definitely recommend the product.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Serves its purpose, March 23, 2011
By cautiousShopper
My bike is up off the floor in my teeny tiny apt. Shipment came w/ missing screws. However, I do not know how the last reviewer found the same type of screws at a hardware store. It stands and doesn't fall apart and I'm not shaking it so I hopefully no one gets hurt. I was adjusting the bars often initially to get it comfortable for me to mount things -- I'm short -- and the rubber started to rip apart. Quailty - 2 stars. It does what it says it should do - 4 stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy, pretty, functional., June 2, 2010
By Ayman (San Francisco, CA USA)
This is a great stand. I'm only storing one 20lb road bike on it on the top of the rack. It's super stable. I've tried to get it to fall over (kids dont try that at home) it just bounces back into place. There's a little strap to anchor to the wall...not really "needed" but living in California, I used it just in case theres a little shake and rumble. It comes with 2 sets of hooks for bikes and two small utility hooks (for helmets and things). Took me 3 minutes to assemble and have my bike hanging. Excellent!

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good., March 2, 2010
By Alberto Garcia (Miami, FL)
PROS: Easy to ensemble, light and good looking. I own two trek mountain bikes, and they fit perfectly on the stand and they don't fall down even if it's windy.

CONS: I wanted to place them in my garage but the stand is too tall and it wouldn't fit, and besides that, my garage has no door and I thought I could secure them to the stand with a chain or something but that wouldn't be of much help since you can easily break it apart.

Good enough for the money though.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great stand! Poor strap to screw to the wall though, February 6, 2010
By Michael McCarry (San Jose, California)
Overall I really like this stand. It holds my mountain bike and road bike in a small apartment, and makes plenty of room! It seems very sturdy and is very easy to get the bikes on and off. The only complaint I have about this product, is that the strap that holds the shelf to the wall is pretty week, and has already started to rip. Living in earthquake country, I made my own pretty quick with plastic rip ties and some screws.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Good buy for college students, small apartments, April 3, 2009
By Kylie T (Portland, OR USA)
I bought the Delta Michelangelo Two-Bike Gravity Stand about two months ago. I had some initial reservations due to some of the negative reviews, but overall I am satisfied with this product.

Pros: It's easy to put together. (If you can assemble IKEA furniture, you can do this.) The rubber stops don't damage the wall at all, and work well on carpet. This rack can hold both a ridiculously heavy mountain bike and a lighter road bike without any problems. It comes with an attachment to secure it to the wall but if you rent and can't drill, it's still pretty sturdy just leaning against the wall. Hanging bikes vertically really saves space. You can also hang your helmet/bag/lock/etc. In terms of organization capacity, you can't do much better for $60.

Cons: Cheap construction. The paint around one of the bolts started flaking off as I screwed it in. It comes with small rubber o-rings to hold the arms in place, but these sheared in half within two weeks, possibly from the weight of my mountain bike. (Road bike is fine.) I replaced these with small rubber pads, and it works fine. I'd prefer it bolted to the wall, myself - but so far I haven't had any issues with tipping or falling, so it's probably fine. Also, when I received the package, it looked like it had already been opened once, but all the pieces were there, so I didn't feel like it was big deal.

Overall: I'm glad I bought this. I'd buy it again. It's great for renters who have bikes and no storage. it's easy to put together. It wouldn't stay up during an earthquake, but I don't lay awake at night wondering if it's going to fall on my cat. When you get the package, double-check to make sure you've gotten all the pieces. But overall, it's a good product and I feel like it's worth four stars.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Amazing bike stand!, May 27, 2008
By Jennifer M
This is the best item that I've purchased from Amazon - I love it. It's ideal for small apartments and great that it doesn't require any nails or bolts to the wall.

It's easy to assemble and looks great. One of the hooks was a little loose but if you position it correctly with the bike - it works fine.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very stable and stylish, July 26, 2007
By John K (VA)
Holds two adult mountain bikes without any problems. The arms are able to adjust to any height, but it's hard to take a bike off without moving the free swinging arms which are attached to posts using rubbery friction coils. They need to improve the design so they won't move up and down and left and right while removing or stacking bikes.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Bike Stand, September 29, 2009
By K. Maull (D.C.)
The footprint of this bike rack is pretty small-it takes up a minimal amount of floor and wall space considering it holds two bikes. If you bump the bikes when they are mounted, they will wobble, but the bikes are pretty secure and have never fallen off. The more regularly used bike is kept on the bottom, and the top bike is still steady without it. The only issue I had with this product is that the piece of fabric used to mount the rack to the wall is pretty cheap with no rivets, so the screws did not hold the fabric to the rack, they just pulled right through. We just used a similar securing fabric from a piece of Ikea furniture and that did the trick. I'm pleased with the purchase, it was definitely worth the money.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Great!, October 1, 2007
By K. Walsh (Arlington, VA)
For the price I don't think I could've found a better rack. It stands fine on it's own against the wall w/o any screws necessary, and everyone comments on how good it looks. Due to couches near the lower bars I only have one bike on it and it sits on the top rack fine with no worries of it toppling the rack over unless someone pulls it down on themselves.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  2 THUMBS UP, May 15, 2007
By What do your medicine? (San Francisco, CA USA)
Very Nice. Elegant design and does the job.

A+++ for displaying bikes and A+ for storage/daily usage.

You can also use it for minor repairs etc., but since it is so light weight and simple in design not the best as a repair stand per se,it is OK for fine tuning gears, brakes and very basic wheel truing.

I dont have mine anchored to the wall, so of course anchoring will help for using it as a basic workstand.

I got mine on sale and thought the price was great for what you get.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Excellent Bike Stand, August 25, 2006
By Scott (Nashville, TN United States)
I recently moved into a smaller apartment and needed something to maximize the little space I had. This bike stand was the perfect solution. It is sturdy, inexpensive to purchase, sets up in minutes (it comes with all the necessary tools and hardware) and actually draws comments from people that visit my home. Strangely, the stand gets more compliments than my bike... I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but at least it looks nice enough to sit in my front room.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cheap but good, October 13, 2011
By R. Gelinas
I wanted a cheap rack for hanging two road bikes. I already own a nice floor to ceiling Topaeak stand for storing two other bikes. But I didn't want to spend that much on this second stand. Plus, the ceiling where I am storing these second bikes can't support a floor to ceiling stand. So I purchased this rack with some reservations. For example I had seen where others had complained that it wasn't as nice as they had hoped. I can't see what they're complaining about. This is a lightweight stand. It works perfectly. If you want something beefier - then spend more and get the Topeak. But in this case, all I needed was a way to store two bikes at a reasonable cost. It holds two road bikes and keeps them off the floor. The stand looks sharp. It's perfectly suited for my needs! I'm glad I decided to purchase it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  good bike stand, August 11, 2011
By american dude
I've got a mountain bike on the bottom and a road bike on the top. I've shaken it to simulate an earthquake and do not have it connected to the wall at the top. Also, it is on a tile floor indoors. It hasn't fallen, the weight of the bikes makes it flex and the feet help push it against the wall. It is a good stand.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great Stand for the Price, November 28, 2011
By M. Aflleje
I've been looking at stands and reading reviews for a few months searching for the stand that would work in our house. I was looking for stability (bikes are expensive), looks (it's in the house, not the garage) and price (I'm cheap).

What makes this stand so stable, in my opinion, is the bikes that it holds and the floor surface. I'm not putting a lot of weight on the stand. On the lower rack I've got my heavier aluminum framed road bike, which still weighs less than mountain style bikes or cruisers. Then on the top rack I've got my CF frame 16.5 lb. bike. That's less than 40 pounds on this stand. The stand base rests on a carpeted floor and against the wall, with no extra anchoring. The base being on carpet means it doesn't move anywhere. I remove and replace either bike and the stand stays firm. No wobbling or moving forward off the wall.

As far as looks, I've seen better. But not at this price. This looks very nice up against our light gray wall. And if you're going to store your bikes in the house this should be a consideration (especially if you're married). We already have 3 bikes and a car in our single car garage so the pitch to get this in the house had to be good. And after putting the bikes on the rack, it kind of looks like a work of art (beauty is in the eyes of the beholder).

But the price is the first reason I even looked at this product. It was a sub 60.00 stand with good and bad reviews. But all of the stands I was looking at through bike outlets and the local bike shops, started out at 100.00 and went up from there. I almost purchased one on sale for 75.00 before I thought of looking on Amazon. After reading reviews, I decided to give this one a try and couldn't be happier.

But any review has to point out the cons and this one has a couple. First, even though this saves a lot of space by "stacking" two bikes. It still comes off the wall almost two feet. My brake lever/shifter is 21.5" off the wall. The legs are only 17" off the wall. But we don't keep this in an area where it's going to impede foot traffic. And secondly, although I like the looks, it could look better. But it's not bad enough to be a con. Let's just call it an ehhhh.

So all that being said, I would recommend this stand for a couple of light weight road bikes. If you're gonna stack a couple of Target brand mountain bikes this review might not be as helpful as others. Good luck in your bike stand search. I found mine.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  works for me, September 3, 2010
By nyartist (New York)
Like most of you I researched reviews of all the bike storage racks until I was sick of it. This rack fit the bill for me. I have a small room maybe 10' by 6'and that was the only place I had for bikes. My girlfriend's bike was there but there was no room for mine. My only other option was to keep it out of doors and to me that was unacceptable. After all, this is my steed. This rack went together easily and supports my bike up high. My girlfriend's bike sits at the base of the rack on the floor - no need to place it on the brackets. I didn't need to fasten it to the wall either. Great solution for us - me and my steed.

I bought this storage rack for my apartment and it works very well. It was easy to construct and is surprisingly sturdy. I expected cheaply made aluminum bars but they are nice and thick. It fits my two bikes perfectly. I would certainly recommend this to someone who needs a inexpensive and non-obtrusive bike rack.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  a good buy for 50 bucks, July 28, 2010
By Mountains
Pros: lightweight, easy to (dis)assemble & transport (I move frequently), low price, fits over my electric baseboard heater, won't damage the wall or the bikes

Cons: wobbly if not anchored to the wall (I put my second bike on the floor rather than on the stand), the hooks are held in place by rubber washers rather than screws (mentioned in other reviews - probably an improvement, but still pretty flimsy)

Summary: About what I expected for the price...

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Sturdy, but..., July 9, 2010
By cutiepie31 (Hatboro, PA United States)
This unit is compact, very sturdy and very easy to assemble (less than 10 min). Even with a full-sized bike on the upper level, I did not feel a need to fasten the unit to my garage wall.

However, the unit is obviously meant for two men's bikes, or possibly two women's, but not a mix of both. A man's bike with a horizontal crossbar hangs very easily. But when a women's bike with an angled crossbar is added the unit becomes unstable because of the uneven weight. We solved this by not hanging my bike (woman's) and instead just propping it up on the lower level. This works for us, but might cause a problem if space is an issue on the lower level, since the bottom bike then juts out a little further than it would if it were hung. Since space was my issue in the first place, I can only assign a mediocre rating. If you have two matching bikes, you will most likely rate this rack higher.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Reasonable, October 11, 2010
By DJS
I puchased the bike stand to save some floor space in my garage. The package arrived in good shape and after a little unpacking and unwrapping I started to assemble it. It came with the needed tool and went together very easily. It stands a little crooked/uneven, but looks good otherwise. I haven't tried to mess with it too much but should be able to improve its straightness as there is a little bit of room for adjustment. It sits against the wall and holds my two bikes well. It has a little flex, but my bikes are super light and it holds them well. I haven't secured it to the wall yet but will soon. It is stable but moves when you lift bikes on and off so the strap is a good idea. The holding arms are a neat idea but have a tendancy to fall off if bumped so their functionality is so-so. The adjustability is very nice because of the various slants my bikes' frame rails. Overall I am happy with the quality and function for the price I paid and may purchase an additional stand in the future.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Good idea, poor execution., October 3, 2010
By J. Dixon (Pittsboro, NC)
I ordered this fully aware of the negative reviews that listed it as flimsy. Those didn't matter to me too much, as I intended on bolting this mother to the wall anyway. What I didn't count on was how horrible the actual arms on this thing are. First of all, what you see in the photo - those ARE NOT the arms that ship with this. I ordered a rack that looked to have arms that were attached to a metal sleeve that secured to the frame via retaining screw. What I received were arms that were made in a zigzaggy fashion that wind themselves onto the frame and are held in place by friction, and the fact that they're covered in a rubbery coating.

Well, 3 days into holding my 2 bikes (2 stumpjumpers) the bottom arms have slid out of place twice and keep sliding on the frame of the bike. Also, the rubberized coating has broken off of the area on the arms that hold the bike, and is starting to slough off the area on the frame where pressure is being applied.

The frame itself is pretty stable. I have it up right now with 2 relatively heavy bikes on it and it's actually a lot more stable than most reviews have given it credit for. I don't have it bolted to the wall (but am planning on it just to make it more rigid) and I can push on the bikes and let them sway and it doesnt come away from the wall. If the arms were a little better quality this would be a great product.

I've talked to customer service at Delta and told them the issue. The original arms that were offered on this were a spiral shape. Then, they went to the bolt in place ones, and now they're offering it with these zigzag arms. Yeah, I just don't know. I'm going to have to find some sort of replacement for these at Lowes or Home Depot or something.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works just fine, but can be a little scary, June 20, 2011
By Matthew Lang (Portland, OR)
I'm surprised how stable this rack has been so far. It can wobble a slight bit from time to time, but it always retains its position against my wall. I have scared my dog at least once with the bike sliding on the hooks. I'm sure there's a better placement I can maintain of my bicycle than I'm providing it on the hooks, but it's hard to balance a bicycle with a heavy back and a frame that slants up to the front handlebars (like I expect most bicycles to be).

I currently have the bicycle raised over the console table in my apartment. It's plenty tall for this purpose with plenty of room underneath for furnishings on the console table.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  Bike Rack, June 14, 2011
By Tony
The rack is fine. As other reviewers have mentioned, you get what you pay for.

It assemblies rather easier. I think that the bike rack does need a longer wall strap and screw, but a trip to Lowe's can fix that. The arms that support the bikes install and adjust easily. I am using the bike rack to store a pair of beach cruisers. The rack works just fine and keeps the bikes off of the floor.

Not the fanciest bike stand, but it is affordable and does what it is advertised to do. My only qualm is that it feels slightly less sturdy than it actually is. You'll find yourself the first time or two wondering "can it really hold two bikes?". It can though!

Allows me to store two bikes easily in a small apartment. I have noticed a bit of 'slipping' on the holders, but it's less than a few millimeters since I've had it...

For the price, it's a near-perfect solution for small spaces.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Holds bikes up - what more do you want?, December 1, 2010
By Benjamin L. Unger (Binghamton, NY USA)
Bought this for my wife, who has decided to bicycle to work. Does what it says, and does it reasonably well. There's a place to attach it to the wall at the top -- this could be a bit easier to work with (perhaps something built in to attach directly to the wall), instead of the awkward screw-in setup.

Cons: My Scooba sometimes gets wedged behind the rack against the wall, but for this price I can deal with fetching the thing when it complains. Probably iRobot's fault for making such fat appliances.

2.0 out of 5 stars.  Good idea shoddily implemented, November 30, 2010
By smckinley90 (Northern California)
When I saw the Michelangelo bike stand on Amazon I was impressed by the creativity of the design. It really does sit nearly flush with the wall it leans on and, despite the manufacturing failings discussed below, it feels fairly sturdy.

I'm still skeptical about buying items online but when I felt the heft of the box that the stand came in I thought that my fears about a flimsy failure of a stand were unfounded. The tubing comprising the stand is solid and would do a superb job of supporting my bikes if it weren't for the haphazard placement of the screw holes on the "feet" of the stand. As shown in the photo, they need to be a bit splayed to give a sturdy footing to the stand. On the item I received the screw holes were placed in such a way that the feet were at best parallel but really would have preferred being pigeon-toed.

This, frankly, will not fly. I tried my darndest to spread the feet out away from each other but succeeded only in stripping out the screw holes and mashing what little thread the clay-soft screws had to begin with. The feet are, at time of writing, not attached to the rest of the stand but are "floating" so that I can get them to face away from each other.

Ultimately, a castle built on shifting sands.

First saw this bike rack at a bicycle shop for over $100. Amazon once again blew that price out of the water. This bike stand is amazing, unbelievable, FANTASTIC! I really can't say enough about it; this little beauty holds two bicycles with no problem at all and is actually quite attractive. It's so simple to assemble, and I love not putting any holes in my walls. I recommend this stand 100%.

Perfect for my apartment. It was easy to assemble and is really stable for our two adult bikes. You do have the option to secure it to the wall with brackets. We don't have it secured, just leaning into the wall in our living room. I have run into several times and it has not budged.
Amazon had the best deal. Target had it listed for $80. If I had to do it I would have purchased it for $80!

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Everything I wanted, and then some..., March 22, 2009
By A. Racine (Washington State)
I researched a great many gravity stands before making my purchase of the Delta stand. This stand is slim, which was important to me because I live in an apartment and I store my bike out in my storage unit. It is easy to assemble - only took about 15 minutes. It is sturdy and I feel completely comfortable storing my expensive road bike on it. The arms are adjustable, so you can put them at any height that you need. And if you only have one bike, the lower arms a great for storing your bike stuff, such as lock or helmet And, most importantly for a student, it was a great price!
Good quality + great price = outstanding value. I highly recommend this rack.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Cleverly designed, easy to use, February 24, 2009
By Gumby
This rack has been an excellent solution for our indoor bike-storage issue. The instructions were almost entirely picture-only, but that actually sufficed just fine and I had it assembled within minutes. We did need to settle its feet into our carpet a bit as part of fine-tuning the arrangement of bikes, but at no point did the rack seem tippy or off-balance. Its graceful, minimalist design looks good indoors. I recommend the Michelangelo to those who want to conserve floorspace while still having easy access to their bikes.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Remarkable bike stand for a great price, February 16, 2009
By M. Hanna (Seattle, WA USA)
I have one of these at home and I keep two bikes on it. It's remarkable stable, more stable than you would think. This stand does a *great* job of getting bikes up and out of the way, and thereby frees up valuable garage space. I just ordered a second stand (yes, yes, I know, I have too many bikes in the garage). I checked and Amazon has the best price by far. You can't go wrong with the Delta Michelangelo.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Very good value, December 8, 2008
By team missin' 1 (Austin, TX)
I just wanted to get our road bikes off of the floor in our small downtown apartment. I spent a fair amount of time reading web reviews of the available racks. I liked the fact that this product required no hardware to mount on the wall. I was leery of the tension rod racks for fear of damaging the ceiling in our apartment. This product was easy to assemble. The hardware fit and I had no problem with stripped bolts. The white silicone/rubber wall and footrests have not left any marks. The whole rig seems decently balanced and stable. I would not want the cat to start climbing on it, but it supports two tri-rigged road bikes, no problem. For about $40 and free shipping, I don't think you can beat it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  space saver!, November 7, 2008
By E. Franks (Ft Campbell, KY)
After much research, I decided to go with this bike rack. We have an infant that is learning how to crawl and I needed some way to put our bikes up so he couldn't get into them. We were also looking for something that would be stable yet didn't have to be attached to the wall. This rack was easy to assemble and fits the bill. I would highly recommend it to someone in a small apt.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Not quite as claimed, June 21, 2011
By Jerry
The product does not quite match its picture, having a differently-shaped top piece. This isn't that big a deal (the difference is a slight design-improvement, in fact), but I already had another one in the same room, and it's a bit frustrating to have two side by side that don't match when the picture indicated that they would. The top pieces don't even interchange between the two models (6002 and 6003), which apparently are made at different factories, so asking the manufacturer for a new top piece won't address the issue. For some reason, the manufacturer sells the one model through bike shops and the other through large venues such as Amazon.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Delta Michelangelo Two-Bike Gravity Stand, September 7, 2007

Does a pretty good job, a little lopsided until you balance your bikes on it properly, but otherwise good. I'd buy it again.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  flaw(s) fixed maybe?, August 24, 2007
By Dano (Massachusetts USA)
some have written reviews stating problems with both the screws supplied and the stability of the unit. The one I received from Amazon had neither of these problems. The unit is strong and holds up well even when holding only one of my bikes on the top tier. I highly recommend their (Amazon's) unit.

Use this bike stand to hold two bikes inside my small condo. Looks decent and works great to reduce the amount of room the two bikes take up in my bedroom.

Amazing product. Lightweight, easy to put together, put it in my front hallway against the wall, placed both bikes and it was done. Won't damage walls or floors.
Highly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Delta Michelangelo 2 bike gravity stand, July 20, 2007
By nucman (BattleCreek, Michigan United States)
This works great. It is very light weight yet holds two bikes very stable. If you intend to work on the bikes on teh rack however, I would prefer something heavier. But this item works fantastic for just holding the bikes. Easy to set up..

4.0 out of 5 stars.  works exactly as it should, October 27, 2011
By Joseph Lanzi
My only suggestion is: use your own tools. The hex wrench the stand came with was junk and
possibly could have ruined the bolts it came with, so use your own hex keys (if you own a bike you probably have a set). Other than that, works good, didn't need to fasten it to the wall either.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  well made, simple and effective, October 23, 2011
By blueapples (Los Angeles, USA)
this is a solid build unit. tubular metal is a good thickness. assembles is just a few minutes. and remarkably, the bikes just hang there... pretty sweet. This company also sells a cheaper model with a single vertical pole. I'm really glad I went with this one- once two bikes are on this thing, I can'[t imagine the single pole is substantial enough to really hold both bikes.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great solution to storing bikes indoors, November 11, 2011
By techno geek
We live in an apartment with not a lot of storage space, so our two road bikes were occupying half of our front hallway, even if they were jammed together leaning against the wall.

This gravity bike stand has been a great purchase because it not only allows you to store the bikes upward instead of infringing on hallway width space, it lets you suspend the bikes slightly off the ground so you can still easily clean the floor area under them.

The stand was very simple to assemble--I was able to do it by myself. The purchase includes all the necessary screws and a hex wrench to join the tubes together. The hooks are easily adjusted to your bike's hanging height--you just twist the hook 90 degrees and relocate it to where ever you prefer it to be.

The kit also includes an anchor should you want to attach it to the wall. We don't feel it's absolutely necessary- the stand and bikes feel very secure, and from the way this stand is designed, all the force is pushing against the wall- it will not want to fall forward. The only way the stand can fall is if the two rubber feet slip on the floor--then the stand will slide forward and the stand will try to fall flat. Otherwise, it's not going anywhere. The stand is even secure when there is only 1 bike on the top hooks.

If you have two bikes that need to be stored upright, get this stand.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Great price, works exactly as needed, October 31, 2011
By Joan (Long Island, NY USA)
After doing a good bit of research into a cheaper against wall bike stand I decided on the Delta Michelangelo Gravity Stand and I am very happy with my decision. I live in an apartment where I need to store my bike indoors and where I am not allowed to put holes in the wall so it was important that I had a way to store my bike that didn't require screws. This bike stand is perfect. It leans against the wall with a plastic pad (which I put a towel behind to insure it didn't scratch) and two legs that stick out away from the wall. The legs hold firm in the carpet on my floor and I haven't been at all concerned with the sturdiness of the frame since I put the bike up, even when the cats or I bump into it now and again. The hooks are easy to move to set up the bike in the position you desire and quiet sturdy. I did find that if you leave the front wheel of the bike on that it does have the tendency to swing out. I solved this problem with a small bungy cord or rope around the front wheel and frame. Since then the wheel hasn't swung at all that the bike hangs beautifully. For a cheaper bike rack, this does the job of keeping my bike up off the floor indoors and it is sleek enough to look nice even in an small apartment. I am very happy with it.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Simply perfect, January 4, 2012
By Stephen Ellison (HOLLYWOOD, FL, US)
Has gotten a WOW! from every person who has come to our house. No...it does not weigh 100 lbs so therefore it cannot take a full physical assault. But unless you plan on running into your bike stand all the time it is a great solution for saving space AND looking great.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Great product, December 15, 2011
By rosie
The gravety stand is great. It holds my bikes with no problems at all. I have two cats and I was afraid that they would tip it over but the gravety stands is strong enough (eventhough is not mounted on the wall). I recommend it to anyone who is tight with space. This will keep your bikes all in one side together and away from everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Works and saves space, December 5, 2011
By ACE (Des Moines, Iowa)
I am quite satisfied with my new bike rack. Though it took a little time to get the screws to bite, this bike rack is solid and has had no problem housing two bikes. I am using in my garage as a way to save space and was happy not to have to drill holes in the wall. In addition, moving the bikes on/off the rack is not a terrible chore like some built-ins. Very happy with this gravity stand.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Works Good, July 16, 2007
By Daniel M. Kaufman
Works good to help save space in my place, just if I would have been able to I would have gone with the one that is a littl taller, and had fixed arms, sometimes they slide down, but for the price it works great.
