4.0 out of 5 stars.  A Little Too Long, But Still Fun, January 31, 2003
By M. Allen Greenbaum (California)
Curious George's new bike leads him to an extended adventure delivering newspapers, making a regatta of paper boats (there are instructions on how to make one!), and visiting a circus after wrecking the front wheel.

George is not quite as innocent here as in his other books. He's a little more like Mr. Toad, doing some things he knows he shouldn't do, and he's not always very careful. Still, his exuberance and the winning 1950's illustrations are a delight. As usual, George gets into trouble with people, but eventually he rescues one of the circus animals and is hailed as a hero.

It's true that George gets into an circus wagon with two strangers... Be sure to advise your own little monkey not to take rides with strangers. But if that upsets you, you might as well also explain that circuses are often not very animal-friendly. A little too long compared with the simple joys of other George books, but this does extend the curious monkey's adventures to somewhat older kids. Lots of action in the 48 pages, with no more than one to three short paragraphs of text per page.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  This is what spoiled it for me..., June 9, 2002
By A Customer
George was out playing alone when he encountered two men in a vehicle whom he had NEVER met before. They were friendly and told him that he was talented. The next thing we know is that the three of them get into the cab and drive off. Oh dear !!
This isn't the sort of thing I'd wish to encourage, would you ?

One positive thing about the tale is that it provoked discussion about
never going away with strangers even if they seem nice.
We like the Curious George books and appreciate the fact that they were written quite some time ago, but when reading to impressionable kids it's good to make sure that you approve of the content.

3.0 out of 5 stars.  George on the move, February 20, 2005
By Matt (Bethel, ME USA)
In this outing, the Man in the Yellow Hat gets George a bicycle to celebrate their third-year anniversary of living together. Riding the bike in front of their home leads George into a series of adventures that take him further and further from home. He starts off by helping the newspaper boy to deliver papers, and then becomes involved in floating paper boats down a little stream. After his bicycle is damaged in an accident, a traveling circus meets George and allows him to participate in their show for the night. While at the circus, he accidentally feeds an ostrich a bugle, and then redeems himself by tracking down and retrieving an escaped bear cub.

This book is a better than the series opener, and has the added bonus of including fairly detailed instructions on how to make a paper boat out of an old newspaper. The watercolor-style pictures are engaging, and the plot keeps moving along in unpredictable ways that should keep the interest of most children.

While I'm not a huge fan of this series, this is a decent book that should appeal to most kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Every parent is raising their own Curious George!, May 24, 1998
By A Customer
I will never forget my first trip to the library to check out a Curious George book. The stories I have grown to love are now a permanent part of my 4 year old sons library. This particular book is not only fun and entertaining, but also demonstrates a lesson to be learned. For friends of mine that are expecting children, instead of giving them the traditional clothes or toiletries, I buy them a Curious George book or two that they can cherish as their children get older. It is never too early to read to children, give them a book that will mean as much to them as it did to me.

4.0 out of 5 stars.  Curious George rides a bike, October 2, 2003
By me="R3C7ILH69QEGWQ"> 2 of 4 people found the following review helpful:
This book Curious George rides a bike is about monkey who gets a bike because it is the
mans and George's third year sense they meet. So George is a very curious monkey and
he is not aloud to ride his bike past his house but George does. George goes off and gets
into trouble.
This book teaches a lesson about listening to your gardian.
It teaches that by when George goes off and gets into trouble with the circus because he
feeds the ostterage a flute. The ring master told him not to feed the ostterage any thing
because it will eat anything that you give it.
This books age level is from five and up. It is this age level because it could teach kids
when there young to listen to there parent.
I think that the book was good it had a little bit of a adventure to it. It also tought a
lesson which I though was good also.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  George "junkie" loves this book, December 1, 1999
By Dee42 (White Haven, PA)
My 21 month old son adores this book. It's the longest book he's ever had us read to him, and he requests it over and over again. He can relate to the story line, it's beautifully illustrated and it's less dated than some of the "George" books.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  A Teachers Point of View, September 22, 2005
By M. Klein (New York)
I love using this book with my students (I remember reading Curious George as a child). There are a number of issues that my students and I talk about. We talk about responsibility (it was the newsboys job to deliver the papers...not George's), bicycle safty (George should be wearing a helmet), and stranger danger (George should not have gotten into the truck with the two men. I always make the paper boat with my students. Curious George books have held up for many, many years...I am sure that they will be around for many, many more.

1.0 out of 5 stars.  Curious George rides a bike, December 6, 2007
By mom who reads (inverness, il United States)
Curious George goes on one too many adventures in this book. Anyone who has read a Curious George book knows this little monkey is not going to listen to the man in the yellow hat. And even after three years with the monkey the man yellow hat still believes he'll stay out of trouble.

When George ventures off on his new bike, he bound for trouble, even when it isn't his intention. But the issue in the book that bothered me was when he was approached by overly friendly strangers, who promised him many things if he performed for them. Which they then took away from him when he was curious, not once did the author approach the dangers of such a situation.

As a teaching tool of stranger danger it doesn't even scratch the surface of what could happen. Or, what others would feel if someone they loved went missing.

5.0 out of 5 stars.  Classic Curious George, September 7, 2011
By Dr. B
This a great reproduction of a classic Curious George story just like you read as a kid. Same artwork, same story, same Curious George. The read along CD is easy to use and provides the option for your child to read the book by themselves when you aren't around. If you like Curious George or your children do snap this one up.

This is such a classic book. My husband and I love Curious George and so we purchased this item for our daughter. We had fun reading it to her and were caught up in the beautifully illustrated photos (all of us were!). Definitely buy this book. You will enjoy it for years to come. Just can't get enough of Curious George and his shenanigans.
