| | To date I have always been a fan of creative products, especially the web cam, unfortunately, and after purchasing their latest product, my views have now changed dramatically. The installation appeared easy and straight forward, insert disc, follow instructions, get latest update, after a minimum of five attempts, installing, removing, installing, it still failed to work. This as everyone knows could also be a glitch with my computer, however, further attempts and rolling back to an old update on the creative web site I finally got it working.
With all above in mind, ease of installation leaves a lot to be desired, that is not my main complaint, what is, is the creative support, during above issues I contacted creative lab support section, even after consultation with a local IT guy and forwarding appropriate information, it appeared they could not understand my issue, again all information was related to them, again I received a response but from another tech, which was not of any help what so ever, I sent many screen shots of warnings, explained situation and still received no real solution from them. I requested telephone number so I could communicate real time as by now this issue had extended into it's second week. I was advised that there is no telephone support line and to respond to the mail If I still need assistance, what a fiasco.
As I said the solution was finally resolved by downloading an old driver all by myself, so on an end note, I would like to thank Creative for their prompt responses and solution/ assistance in in resolving my issues..NOT.
My conclusion, goodbye creative, I shall purchase no more of your products. forCycling your site still rocks, no complaints for you.

| | I noticed the price keeps dropping on this one and for GOOD REASON!
I bought the top 2 webcams AND this one at the same time, to see which came out on top for ME. THIS was a waste of time..don't bother! For $10 more get Microsoft LifeCam Cinema or for $15-20 more, get the Logitech Webcam Pro 9000 / QuickCam Pro 9000 THIS webcam is NOT true ANYTHING..I don't know how they can advertise it the way they do but they do. 1. IT'S FIXED FOCUS 2. NO WIDE ANGLE 3. HORRIBLE SOUND 4. EATS PCU
THE OTHER TWO are EQUALLY GREAT but for different reasons. IF PICTURE is your MAIN interest GO CINEMA HD but don't plan on great software. ON THE OTHER HAND if you want GREAT SOFTWARE AND a really nice looking picture, go PRO 9000. I kept both and gave my Dad the Pro9000.

| | This webcam was a breeze to install, and the software is pretty easy to use with a lot of fun filters, it has a built in mic (which is one less hassle to deal with), the stand is pretty versatile, and the video quality is okay... better than most webcams, but the competition isn't very tough.
The filters include superimposed scenes, video distortions (mirrored screens, polarized images, sepia, slow frame rates, etc.), face tracking distortions (big eyes, small nose, square heads, etc.), face tracking decorations (hats, glasses, hair, masks, facial hair, etc.), and face tracking scenes (your face on a superhero/surfer/fish/etc. flying and it bobs and weaves as you move around). A lot of these can be combined to make some really interesting results and my 3 year old loves playing with these. There's also a paint mode which lets you paint over your face or on your face and it can track with it... it's a little too primitive to be really fun though. There's also voice changing and avatars (in case you don't want to be recognized at all as yourself).
So it's a nice package and one that deserves at least 4.5 stars when compared to its competition in this price range, but I'd like to see these webcams get a lot better before I give one in this price range 5 stars. I think the software should allow you to view live video full screen even if it doesn't capture at that resolution (the chat programs like Skype and Windows Live Messenger do let you do this with this webcam, but the included software doesn't), and I'd like to see better manual controls (focus, brightness, fill-light, etc) than the standard ones that ship with windows (and are horrible). The HD is marketing talk more than anything else, even if this was 640x480 and blown-up to full screen I don't think the difference would be that great. If you're looking for a solid midrange webcam, then I think the Socialize HD will do trick.
