With a 5.5-inch inseam the Sugar Cycling Short is Pearl Izumi's shortest and sweetest cycling short. Held in place with spandex leg grippers, the Sugar Short offers great style and superior technical function for long rides and training. With an anatomic, 6-panel design, and flatlock-stitched seams, the short will protect your hard working muscles and eliminate pressure points for zero chafing, no matter how far or hard you ride. Made of signature Pearl Izumi Sensor fabric, this high-quality blend of polyester and spandex provides stretch comfort and quickly wicks moisture away from the body for easy evaporation. The women's specific, seamless, four-way stretch 08' 3-D Tour Chamois reduces pressure points with 13-millimeters of fusion bonded dual-density padding for long-term comfort. The high-performance chamois features natural silver antimicrobial fibers that reduce bacteria and help regulate temperature for a comfortable, long-lasting short. With 13 millimeters of moisture wicking, plush microfiber padding, the chamois provides all the protection you will need for long, grueling rides. Like all Pearl Izumi products the Women's Sugar Cycling Short has a lifetime warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, that excludes failures from accidents, misuse, improper care, or normal wear. For best results Pearl Izumi recommends washing its products with detergents free of additives, such as fabric softeners and perfumes, because detergents with additives leave "surfactants" behind on a fabric's fibers that inhibit the technical performance. Hang dry the product or dry it on a low or warm dryer setting. Never use a hot dryer setting or use a commercial dryer as this will damage the fabric's performance. Fantastic!, October 8, 2009

These shorts are wonderful-I am so glad I bought them! They are great for long rides and have a lot of padding. I probably could have bought a large, but I really hate anything that is binding. They look great and are just the right legnth. I love them!

Great shorts, August 4, 2009

These are great shorts, the padding is well done, preventing rubbing and chaffing. The length of these shorts on my legs is great, although I don't think I'd classify them as 'low rise.' But the top band rolls down and they are comfortable. I use them for intermediate distance road biking, and have found these to be my favorite pair of cycling shorts. I'm 5'8" 135lbs and wear a Medium.

Dissapointing sizing and features, July 13, 2008

The Sugar short is billed as being a lower rise, short inseam bike short with leg grippers that will hold your shorts in place (which is standard on bike shorts.) I bought these shorts in a size xs; I weigh 115 lbs at 5'2.
1. They are not lower rise. They are the same rise as all other bike shorts- practically up to my boobs. "natural waist" or some other jazz. They come way up my back, overlap several of my rips, almost 4" over the top of my butt if I don't roll them down. I roll them down.
2. The legs are too big! They are loose! I was appalled after I ordered these to discover that they included all the discomfort of there being elastic on the leg cuffs with none of the "staying in place" that it is supposed to accomplish. They ride up to an unfortunate degree. Not only is this uncomfortable, it is an extremely unflattering look.
3. The chamois is very nice, I would probably buy something else with this chamois if I could try it on first.
Basically, I would not recommend these shorts.
